Appreciate it.

0:001

Okay. So

0:03 – 0:230

it is 06:38 here on 04/22/2006, and I'm calling the tree advisory board meeting to call for this special meeting that we're doing. We do have a quorum at this point. Do I have a motion to approve the agenda that I hope everyone got to take a look at?

0:232

I move to approve. Second.

0:280

Cool. All in favor?

0:30 – 1:070

Aye. Wonderful. There we go. I don't I I did not send out we we had the option of trying to approve April's minutes being that it already happened before, but I did not get around to sending that out. So I was gonna do it at the May meeting, but now we're just learning that we don't have a May meeting. So, unfortunately, the the April minutes will have to be approved in June. I don't see anyone from the public on this meeting, so I don't yep. Seven and seven. There we go. So we don't have any public comment.

1:10 – 1:400

Okay. So we'll hop right into the business of the day. Going through the four applicants that we have. So, yes, I I missed the meeting where we went through this. I know this is something that you guys have already done. So do we wanna just discuss each applicant individually, or what's the best procedure to do on this, Tom? I I must admit, I think this is my first time, or I just don't remember the process from last year on how to go about doing this properly.

1:40 – 2:074

Well, I think that that's sort of the whole catch here is that all the boards were doing it a little bit differently, and so the town has asked us to do it the same. So I think and and they had no problem with the way we did ours for what it's worth. But Okay. So I think what they would like us to do is provide some time to discuss the applicants. If people feel like we need that, we definitely did that at the prior meeting.

2:08 – 2:464

But if anyone would like time to do that, they'd like us to do that. And then they'd like us each one of you guys to read off your scores to me, and I will tally them up over here. And then once you guys have read off your scores to me, I'll take a brief minute and do some quick math. Once I have the math done, I will tell you guys the way the rank from your numbers came out, and then there would be time to discuss it again. And if y'all based on the way the numbers come out, if you're not comfortable with that and you'd like to discuss it and do it a second time, we can do that.

2:47 – 3:064

And then, once you guys are comfortable with basically, we're just ranking them. Right? The top two would be the ones that fill the positions. Then once you guys have that, I'll provide it all to Michelle, either tonight or tomorrow morning, and we'll be right back where we were at the last meeting.

3:071

So we're just gonna

3:080

It's two reasons.

3:102

Three positions, I thought.

3:120

Because we have Nathan's that is open, and then Patty and myself expire here in the next month.

3:17 – 3:324

You are correct, Sai. There's four applicants, and the top three would get, rec recommended to the board for their approval. Does that does that sound right to everybody? Anybody think I'm off at all? Mhmm. Okay. I am struggling

3:320

to find the applicants. I would share my screen and pull one, each one up as it goes, but I'm failing to find

3:381

It's in the meeting agenda. So the the on the meeting agenda, there's a link to each one of them.

3:45 – 4:000

Oh, brilliant. I see that right there. Man, someone was steps ahead of me. Cool. Alright. Then I am going to share my screen here. K. Can everybody see that?

4:001

It's coming up.

4:024

Cool. Yep. Yes.

4:060

So this first person is Cameron Hanlon.

4:16 – 4:271

And so it looks like we're going down to the questions and just ranking what you know, how we feel their responses on each one of those. Like, that first question right there, where are you interested in serving?

4:27 – 4:510

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, this is strikes me as someone that cares about the community. They do have prior board experience, which I think is great. But, ultimately, I think we all know that it's more just like enthusiasm that that's really important, but we'll never discredit prior experience.

4:58 – 5:130

Yeah. And they I like that they planted trees. They understand the local industry. They know the tree farm and things like that. So, yeah, this strikes me as a great person. Does anyone else have any comments they wanna make on Cameron?

5:141

So, like, for question one, what would we put? Is it is it a strong response, an exceptional response, or just an adequate response?

5:235

You you get to decide.

5:26 – 5:464

Yeah. I think the intent is for everybody to fill out those forms Mhmm. Okay. With their own opinion. Although right now, if anyone wanted to discuss any of that, you could. Mhmm. But just fill it out with with your own opinion, and then I will combine everybody's numbers and let you know how they spit out.

5:47 – 6:212

Yeah. I think I mean, I I don't know if everybody I know that the majority of us looked at these candidates before. So I do feel like you know, I I mean, we know I I I remember the, you know, the four the four people including, you know, Jason and Patty. So I feel like in there's, like, a I feel like we should look at, at least as a group, each one to create the context of each individual answer because I don't think that, like because my my my sort of read on this the scoring sheet is we could you know, every answer we could think is a good answer, and then everybody would get a you know, we would all maybe decide, oh, everybody gets a five, and then that doesn't really get us anywhere.

6:211

Yeah. No. No. I I didn't base my I didn't base mine off of that. I kinda gave them true responses.

6:29 – 6:432

Yeah. So I guess I just want I'm thinking about, like, do we wanna wanna look at each individual candidate and then discuss them collectively, or do we wanna look at the merits of each individual candidate and then

6:44 – 7:060

I think we can look at the merits of like, I'll pull up each applicant. Maybe we all just kinda fill out our numbers as we're discussing it and then just, you know, get those to Tom at the end, let him tally it up. And then that, I assume, will speak and probably work its way out to a similar way that happened before. Perfect. So, no, I've got my numbers written down for Cameron right now. Mhmm.

7:110

Does anybody else have any any feedback on Cameron, or do we want to jump to our next one?

7:181

Let's jump to the next one. Jason Schimmel.

7:212

Who is Is it Schimmel? Is that how Schimmel?

7:241

Schimmel. Okay.

7:272

Oh, Schimmel. Did do you think does he go by does he go by Michael, do you think?

7:345

Maybe. He's one of those.

7:360

Yep. Yeah. That's tough. This is

7:391

the one

7:390

where you guys gotta give me your numbers out loud. I need this feedback person.

7:431

Aside from the occasional, like, typo, I I gave you pretty good numbers. Yes.

7:490

I I a spell check is usually my best friend. I I'm definitely not known for my writing prowesses. I'm I'm comfortable with that. So,

7:591

yeah, I feel comfortable with my numbers. I don't know that we need to discuss this guy.

8:032

Yeah. I feel I feel pretty good about mine.

8:06 – 8:200

Okay. We will hop on to the the only other unknown, Liana Walsh. Gosh. Embedding these applications right into the agenda was brilliant. It makes life very easy.

8:224

So here here is a question for what it's worth. How how do you spell Leanne?

8:291

Not confusing at all. There's Leanna

8:320

and Leanne.

8:342

That's two those are two that's two different letters. You're you're totally fine.

8:394

That's right.

8:403

Vastly different. Hey, guys. I'm so sorry I'm late, but I'm here.

8:461

Yay. Will try to catch up.

8:51 – 9:070

Are just Claudia, to catch you up real quick. We are just running through the four applicants. I know you were part of this process initially, so you're probably already familiar. We're just gonna do a brief discussion, and then we do did you see that scoring sheet that that Michelle had sent out?

9:083

I did not see it. I'm so sorry.

9:10 – 9:410

It's it's okay. It's super simple. Basically, these four questions you're seeing right here, we just give them each question gets a one through five response, five being the best, one being the worst. And then at the end of this, we are going to give Tom the numbers, the scoring that we each did. Okay. They'll tally that up, and that will ultimately dictate who who gets to be presented to the the the council to actually be accepted onto the board. So Okay. We did

9:413

I'm looking at it, and I I will fill it out. I think I already picked my my top two. Yeah. And we're top three.

9:500

Yeah. It's three. Exactly. So three of the four will get in.

9:531

And then Michelle said we send them to the town clerk. We send them, and then did she get them to Tom then? Is that how that works?

10:01 – 10:234

So I'll I'll collect them tonight. We'll read through each one. You guys will say your numbers out loud to me. I'll tally them up and let you know right then and there how the order goes. You guys will have an opportunity to decide if you like the order or if you wanna go back and discuss it again and revote.

10:24 – 10:484

If you guys are comfortable, then we'll say that's good. I will give that information to Michelle tomorrow, but she also would like you guys to take a picture of your scorecard and email it to her to town clerk as well. So we'll just kinda have double records. We'll have a picture of your actual score sheet, but I'll actually give you guys the numbers tonight as well.

10:483

K. Brilliant.

10:490

Great.

10:511

So we're on the Louisiana Walsh. Yeah.

10:55 – 11:250

Yeah. She instantly stands out to me because, being part of the Colorado Tree Coalition Yeah. That is who Amanda was is part of still. That's the poster contest people. So this is someone that's deeply fam not that I can't say deeply necessarily, but familiar with tree outreach into communities because that's a big part of what they do down there, and that's obviously, you know, one of the major reasons we are who we are. So, yeah, she instantly stands out.

11:251

For sure. Mhmm. She'd be an asset.

11:274

I agree. Yeah.

11:301

I got my rankings.

11:320

Perfect. Mhmm. Anybody else have any comments before we hop on to Patty's?

11:38 – 12:011

Nope. Alright. And I've got mine for her too.

12:06 – 12:190

Yeah. I like that she just did NA for I think that sort of speaks to the fact that she's kinda like, you guys all know me, and you know what she's done on this board, and we know that she's been a very valuable member for far longer than I've been on the board. Mhmm.

12:223

I think of Patty as a responsible adult. She keeps us in line. Yeah.

12:270

She does. Yeah.

12:283

She's a keeper.

12:300

Without a doubt.

12:37 – 13:000

Okay. Any other comments on Patty? No. Alright. I'm gonna stop sharing my screen now. Here we go. And then, Tom, do we just go one by one and give you our numbers? Oh, you're on mute,

13:006

Tom. Unmuted.

13:03 – 13:354

Thank you. I've got a series of spreadsheets open with all of your names on it and then, the score sheets. So let's let's see. Can we do it this way? Could I just start with one person, And I'll have you give me the scores for question one, two, three, and four. For the first applicant, we'll go through one person, one of you guys or girls with all of your numbers, and then we'll go on to the next person. Sound good?

13:350

Great.

13:364

K. Let's start with Jason. Jason, Cameron, Hanlon, question one.

13:420

A three. Question two. Four.

13:48 – 14:124

Question two is four? Yes. K. Question three. Four again. Question four. Three. K. Well, hold on a second. Whomever built this spreadsheet put in conditional formatting, so that's not helpful. Let me let fix the spreadsheet.

14:142

And nothing is more interesting than fixing a spreadsheet on a call.

14:174

I'm putting in scores. I'm putting in I'm putting well, I'm not too bad with it, but I'm putting in, I'm putting in numbers, and I'm getting back dates. That's not what

14:270

that's not what I want.

14:281

Oh, I know. I trying to I was trying to do that.

14:322

It's because it's because of the, it's because of the slash.

14:361

The slash.

14:372

It's it's the slash there. Alright. So May '5. It thinks it's a date. Yeah.

14:424

Remind me again, Jason, just the the four numbers in order.

14:460

03/04/1943.

14:514

K. Then Jason Schimmel, you are supposed to vote on yourself. Question one.

14:58 – 15:130

I abstained on that one because I feel awkward voting for myself. Do I need to give numbers, though? Yes. Let's Let's do fives. Let oh, okay. We'll do fives down the board because that man's answers were exceptional.

15:144

Sounds good.

15:151

Yes. And

15:154

then for Patty, Jason?

15:180

I did 4554.

15:224

K. For Liana, Jason?

15:260

I did fives right down the board on that one.

15:30 – 15:444

Okay. Now let's go to Claudia. One second. Let me fix the formatting. It is fixed. Alright. Claudia for Cameron, question one.

15:491

Hope you're muted.

15:503

Sorry. I am at the park at a baseball game. So it's a 3.

15:574

3. Alright. I've got it. Question two.

16:034

Question three.

16:054

Question four. 3. Alright. Now we're on to Jason Schimmel. Question one.

16:143

Five all across and he knows it. Mhmm.

16:196

Patty, question one.

16:224

Three. Question two.

16:284

Question three?

16:324

Question four?

16:364

Got it. Leanna, question one?

16:454

Question two.

16:494

Question three.

16:503

5 across the board for her.

16:524

Excellent. Thank you. Alright. Now on to Arlene, not Liana.

16:595

It's not confusing or anything.

17:014

Well, no. Right before this when I was doing some things, I was like, man, we gotta start spelling Leanne's name right. And then I was like but I see my mistake now.

17:115

I need to I need to get in, like, Google's pronunciation and put in her name and see what it spits out.

17:184

Maggie. Curious. Cameron question one.

17:215

Three.

17:234

Cameron question two.

17:264

Three.

17:273

Three.

17:284

Question four.

17:295

Three.

17:314

Thank you. Jason Schimmel, question one.

17:335

All fives.

17:354

Thank you.

17:366

Patty O'Donnell, question one.

17:394

Question two. Four. Question three. Five. Question four.

17:476

Leanna Walsh, question one.

17:494

Five. Question two.

17:524

Question three. Four. Question four.

17:586

Thank you. Alright. Amy, you're up next.

18:010

I'm up.

18:034

Cameron, question one.

18:051

For I'll just give them all to you. 3443.

18:104

Excellent. I heard 3443.

18:144

Jason Schimmel.

18:151

Fives across the board.

18:174

I heard 4. Patty O'Donnell, question one.

18:211

Fours across the board.

18:226

Fours across the board. Thank you. Leanna Walsh.

18:29 – 18:414

5554. Got it. Alright. Patty is not here. Nathan? Nope. No. Nathan Taylor.

18:411

Yep. Taylor. Yep.

18:424

Alrighty. You let me

18:446

know when you're ready.

18:454

Cameron, question one.

18:49 – 19:034

3. Question two. 4. 4. Question 3. 3. 3. Question 4. 3. 3. Thank you. So I got 3433. Jason Schimmel, question one.

19:032

Fives.

19:064

Five down the five? K. Four fives.

19:086

Patty O'Donnell. Question one, Patty O'Donnell.

19:114

4. 4444. Leanna Walsh. 5. Got it.

19:214

Got it. 44.

19:262

And then a 5.

19:28 – 19:404

That's 5545. Got it. Alright. 545. K. And then I don't think we take it from Brian and Emily. Is that everybody else's understanding? Mhmm.

19:406

Okay. Let me do some quick stuff here.

19:50 – 20:012

Jason, I almost docked you points for length of answers, but I decided that that was a a symptom of, exuberance, and I decided it was very nice.

20:02 – 20:130

It it felt a little funny because it's like, you know, applying for the job you already have, but I completely understand it. And, you know, the standpoint of it's it's a government board, and this is how it has to work.

20:144

Jobs usually pay you money, Jason. Yeah.

20:180

Well, I better not get asked to reapply for a job at any point.

20:262

Gotta defend your position. You know?

20:294

There are some there are some benefits, but no job.

20:336

I think there's some good oh, shocks. Come on. Why did that happen?

20:53 – 21:104

Okay. I've got everybody's sheet. Oh, one more to do. Okay. I've got everybody's sheets tabulated.

21:10 – 21:444

Now let me do some quick other math. Your guys' scores were pretty close to each other. Couple more.

22:30 – 22:414

Alright. Your first candidate had a score of 67. Your second candidate has a score of 100.

22:441

Wait. What?

22:474

So the first one, Cameron, I added up everybody's scores, and all people's scores combined come up to 67.

22:551

Got it. I thought you're saying the number one

22:572

The number one.

22:580

Yeah. Sorry. Go back.

22:59 – 23:164

The sec the sec the second one I tabulated was the candidate Jason Chamel, and everybody had a 20, so that equals 100. I'm doing the third candidate right now, which I believe was Patty O'Donnell.

23:170

Double

23:21 – 23:404

checking my math. Your third candidate, Patty O'Donnell, had a score of 83. Let me run the numbers for your final candidate. Well, that's easy. That's minus four, so that is 96.

23:40 – 24:244

Your fourth candidate had a 96. So based on all your individual scores, it appears as though Jason Schimmel has a 100, so he would be our first recommendation, your first recommendation. It appears based on the numbers that your second recommendation, the second highest score would be Liana Walsh with a 96. And then your third candidate would be Patty O'Donnell with an 83, and your fourth candidate to suggest to the board, your fourth choice would be Cameron with a 67. Does that sound correct to everybody?

24:253

Looks great.

24:251

Sounds great.

24:260

Yep. I believe that's exactly how it came out last time. That is exactly as

24:314

it came out last time. Would anyone like to discuss it?

24:37 – 25:084

Alright. Well, if you all could please take a picture of your scorecard, make sure your name is on it, take a picture of it, and then email it to the town clerk. They'll put that on the official record, and somebody in a hundred years will bring it to a two hundred year celebration or something. Great. And, I think we're all good. I will give all these numbers and the spreadsheets I used to the town clerk as well tomorrow.

25:091

Certainly.

25:104

Alright. Jason, is there anything else on the agenda tonight? I think we we have to stick to agenda items, and I'm guessing that there's nothing else on the agenda.

25:200

No. I had nothing else on the agenda for tonight. No.

25:245

Okay. Well, the question

25:274

Of course.

25:285

Before we adjourn, I heard mention, just so that I get it right in the meeting minutes, that there is not a May meeting?

25:36 – 26:114

Correct. Thank you. Yep. Due to the fact that a lot of the boards are are gonna be, appointing people later than we had anticipated because of this snafu, a lot of boards won't have a quorum for May. And so the town just decided to do away with the May meetings for everybody. And I figured that it probably works out for us because we're just finishing up our big event of the year, and we can all take a nice break and then come back in June and kinda do a Arbor Day debrief and stuff like that.

26:111

Right. Perfect.

26:131

Alright, Jason. It's a.

26:170

Got it. Alright. It is 705 again on April 22, and our special tree advisory board meeting is adjourned. Thank you, everybody.
