Welcome to Agenda Edina, a program summarizing the actions taken at City Hall that affect you most. I'm your host, Dorothea Marty. Wooddale Avenue will see only modest changes when it's resurfaced later this summer. Because the project presented an opportunity to improve the city's bicycle network, staff developed several options that would have reconfigured travel lanes and parking along the corridor. Those proposals prompted feedback from nearby residents, churches, and the Edina Country Club, many of whom expressed concerns about the potential loss of on-street parking. After considering three options and hearing public input, the City Council approved a revised design proposed by Councilmember Carolyn Jackson. The plan preserves all existing parking while adding dedicated bicycle lanes where roadway width allows and shared lanes where it does not.

Everybody I've talked to in this city, they want to make it more walkable and bikeable. On the other side, I've had lots and lots of very good conversations about the lived experience of Wooddale Avenue, and I really appreciate it. They were thoughtful, they were neighborly, everybody listened to each other, and it really brought out the best of the neighborhood feel.

Construction is expected to move forward later this summer as part of the roadway resurfacing project.
