Yeah, so the wings are things. So for the people who are new, we came up with this idea, because we're doing a mural at thank you. Words. And we submitted this to a bunch of the schools, and we let students come up with the idea and you guys this is crazy. Like I'm so excited actually. I know, Glenn, look at this. Because I was like, did it work? Don't know. This is our idea was to throw it out, see how many people did it and so this Really? Is literally It worked.
So I know when we were talking about this before, we were saying that we could do kind of like a workshop maybe, sort of like a subcommittee where some of us that are available could come in to go through these. I'm happy to do that with someone. If someone wants to do that with me, I'm happy to take them home and go through it. I mean, whatever you guys want to do, I definitely don't think we should tackle this this evening.

SPEAKER I'm the same roundabout subject, but I've got something that everybody can look up later. It's an idea. I don't know how much it would cost. But I'm sure that one of you probably have heard of those egg tulips, those Yeah. The seeds and all that coming in.
I saw a beautiful display that somebody put up of the entire butterfly in colors by the tulips. And when you put those tulips in the ground, they don't shift. The tulips always stand up straight and all that stuff. And it's just a shape of the butterfly in the grass, cut out the grass, put the tulip cuffs in. They grow, they're all straight.
And the colors, you can change the colors depending on what part of the butterfly it's going to be. It's just something you look at I think it was butterfly I don't know. Could probably look it up and see. But it was those little tulip eggs. Is that what you call them?
It was an egg bulb. No, they're egg cartons that are cardboard. And you just put them in there so that they die, and then they come back every year in the same spot,

But I think what they've done is awesome. I mean, it's really beautiful over there. And we could recognize two businesses that are really trying to help make the area look better. Like, painted all the out front, and they did it nice. They added a new business.

We're told, you know, I thought it went away because I know I'm learning that Facebook is where everybody sees every. Every customer I have now, I saw you on Facebook.
A great idea that we need to do is probably between now and obviously either A, the workshop or the next meeting, whatever, to decide on, have this generated. Now that we have a new CIO, if you notice, the city and I'm trying to go in the direction for it, we've got a dedicated CIO officer that's creating a strong presence in the social media. And then today, talk about ghosts or tortoises. It's been a spotlight on each department. There's been positive news about the city that people, like you just said to yourself, you didn't know it existed.
I thought like So just
heard her job is to make sure that the public knows it exists, Bringing more notice to the younger crowd or new generation that's coming into town or people that are buying a home. Is this something you take pride in? You could get nominated. I met Tiffany nominated a gentleman that provides benches and spot for children catch a bus in the corner there. He had like a tree house. I mean, the guys spent a lot of time in the yard. We want to recognize that. Mhmm. Because that's the flip side of a food enforcement case. You want people to take pride. Like, that's

That's of money, and it's a lot of time invested.
So And
maybe we get the PI officer to kinda maybe do spotlight on the beautification.
And we're allowed to reshare that post and go, hey, guys, pay attention to this. Nominate your neighbors. Nominate your aunts.

I want see people who don't spend
a million dollars on their yard. Not a lot of people have a ton to spend on their yard. So just some people who upkeep it, like, just get somebody who's nominated, too. That'd be great.
And that goes through the same things that we said for the holiday decorations. People to make because we have the same folks that spend a ton of time and effort and money into their properties. The gentleman on Victory every year, right? Victory and Third, he's an electrician. And the guy goes all out. We know that. But the people that are coming to town that are taking pride in making it known that we do have these awards, we do have these prizes, and we do have recognition for their hard work.
I mean, my heart's with anybody does the artwork. I had to do it Monday, I seriously kept saying I was going to die. And I heard the ambulance off in the background. Was like, do they know my silent cries right now? I've got scratches all over me from out there. So I think more people should be noticed for their hard work, for their personal problems. But like I said, I think a lot people thought maybe this award disappeared over the years. So I think getting the word out would also help out.
Yeah, we have social media and the CIO who can probably bring more recognition to it and hopefully get some people that are nominating their names, nominating their friends, nominating this.
So, like, we just mentioned that the freeze hit a lot of yards really hard. So do you want to
season, they could take advantage of the fact that the proof that they've done will mature and flourish.
So, like, rather than rushing to have it announced by May 30 aspects, why not wait and just announce it on, like, June 30 or something after the next meeting? Right.

There's a lot of improvement, like I say, the direction before that some people don't understand what's kind of happening. There's a lot of talk on social media. She was involved in it. And people were bringing up topics that we don't know exist because they don't hear or see the meeting. And they're not realizing that we do have plans for a community garden that's going be integrated into a park. And hey, there's people who like, I want to do this. And you're like, wait a minute. And she's the voice of the board, in essence, saying, we talked about this. This is what's going the question. You guys personally don't know that, but this is what we're looking to do. This is what's going be implemented. And I'll go further into it as we do that.

So to kind of go inside what really were going through on Facebook, they were asking me garden. Last time I reported, we we budgeted to improve Grovery Park. So what has transpired is, obviously, we've gotten Menard made here replaced and taking advantage of the fact that contractors were in town and the cost savings. We had some bids last year that were pretty high for the replacement of veterans. We did an inspection and it was really, really, really bad shape.
We did some structural emergency repairs, but it would have had to have been shut down. So taking advantage of the fact that the contractor is here in town, taking the fact that we built the bid and do his honoring to align with what we did for Menard, we were able to save a $150,000 by utilizing him in town. And not to mention, we were able to the vision we shot prior with wood. We were able to upgrade to that roof decking, that decking which lets sunlight through for seagrasses and and and not to mention maintenance friendly for our department and the fact that it does let water protrude through it. So a rising tide, storms Nice.
It's it's I don't know if you've had a chance to go out to Menard Park. It's that appears awesome. Those guys did a great job. Awesome. We were able to capitalize on the fact that that group was in town.
So I took the the funding, and we did a budget amendment. City council approved it to where we could utilize those funds and and capitalize on the fact that that group was in town and get veterans fixed. So we are going to rebudget rotary for this coming year for those repairs. So the piers are new, replaced, upgraded, and would be more probably maintenance friendly for us in the future. So that said, we are looking to still do what we anticipated at rotary with the playground upgrade, shade structure upgrade, utilizing it to incorporate a community garden type, kids garden type facade, if you would.
So that's what we're looking to do. We have the birthday event coming up for the Earth Day event. So that's gonna be something. And then we had our Easter extravaganza, which is big, and we had a ton of kids. It was it was awesome to see a lot of kids happy out of because, actually, I think helped us.
Mhmm. So yeah. So it was great. You know? And and I'd like to see that, you know, if you guys can help us at the Earth Day event. If you're here, we We're always looking for people. For the July, we signed the agreement to fireworks, so that's going forward. So we're looking to do some ribbon cutting for Veterans Park will be Monday. They're going to be done with veterans tomorrow.

Well, like you said, I'm the CIO officer. She's trying to get something in motion, kind of like a she mentioned something by the name like fluid or flow or something. It was something kind of put together where it would have a lot of our inner workings of our city, parks, bike trails, things that if somebody was to relocate here and didn't know I mean, when we say when our main peers open, people are like, is that Little Beach? Everybody knows Little Beach. You're a citizen. You're like, is that the park at the end of ocean? You don't know if I'm an ocean?

Yep. Exactly. So connecting all those and kind of compiling it in one location and kind of creating a cheat sheet, if you will, for a citizen that wasn't here is kind of, I think, what she's looking to do. So it'd be kind of cool to see that come to fruition.

And maybe I brought this to the table. Like, maybe somebody will be like, hey, I want to kind of spearhead that. Just like, you know, Tiffany kind of spearheaded the wings. And then look how good it's already turned out very quickly. So if there's any action items that people are like, I can work on this right now, like a video blog or something like that, or putting together an entrepreneur day, or things like that.

I can't remember the mayor wanted to he was highlighting a local business. I don't know. It's not necessarily an entrepreneur day, but it was capitalizing and highlighting a local business like you did Big O Bar a while back. Yeah. Something along that line.

it'd be great, though, for we have a lot of entrepreneur families in the community. If those kids can learn that that's how you build a business and get out there and get the skills of talking to people. So those are things that I think would be cool. But again, if anybody wants to pioneer any of these individually that don't put more work on Jason's plate, because he does have a lot going on, that would be great.
I am trying to get a bike club together, like a group that can meet once a month. They have to do something different, whether it's ride a trail or work on a bike or do a fundraiser or something. I just think I have a lot also. Yes. Go with what
you said. I know you said a lot of this was feedback, but it just goes to reiterate that we need to get word out more. Because a ton of this stuff we've already had discussions about and tried to get up and going, like the history day, the

making it a water feature, landscaping it. So kind of focusing on that clothing and I wouldn't bring that up. Sorry, not in the direction of court, but it's a part of our department and we're going be utilizing our maintenance guys in a little bit of it and trying to help that group with that project. And there's also the historian Shannon. She's on that as well. She's working through with trying to get the money from Doctor. Hawkins.
And do we know if she was ever able to get ahold of all the stuff that the one librarian had taken home? Like, I don't know if you remember that, but they came in, and they were like, there was all this stuff that used be at the Edgewater Library. Where did it go? And so we were like, check with the librarian, because I can't imagine any librarian being like, yeah, just throw that away.
So I have talked with both of them, and they at this point, it's still in a positive direction, but it's more that we don't have room in the current space to display more historic items. And then the owner of those historic items is still in possession of them, and it's kind of just overwhelming to handle all of that at once. So there's just a lot. So I think have Shannon's contact if somebody wants to get back with her. I know she wanted to talk with your mom, too, or Ms. Hutchinson. So I think we could get them back together. They're just kind of like, what are we going to do with this when we get done? They don't really know what's next.
I know this is from the Parker rec department, but going with the Daughters of the American Revolutions on May 8, Friday, May 8 at AM. That's The PGI Riders, which I'm a part of, we are bringing the Vietnam Wall and the global wall on terrorism to AMVETS. We're having a veteran stand down to get resources.
