Citizens of Douglas County, thank you so much for allowing the Board of Commissioners and I to engage in an executive session. We are now back, and certainly the Board of Commissioners, that leads me into calling a motion. Board of Commissioners, do we have a motion to come out of the executive session?

Second. we have a motion in a second in discussion board we have a motion in the second please prepare to cast your electronic votes to come out of executive session in favor okay thank you we have a 4-0 unanimous vote and the motion carries certainly this has been a great day and any remarks board anything I want to bring our our interns up and allow them and there she is our chief of staff and assistant county administrator chief of staff you know what we won't even take it a little further today we want to commission Maxton had a grand idea he said he'd want each one of our interns to come up introduce themselves and tell us what school just say hello do you not want that that's fine say what

We have our 2026 cohort of Douglas County interns with us today so we'll just have them stand today. So we have a mixture of high school students all the way through seniors in college. So these are great. They're Douglas County residents who will be getting experience in all of our departments. We have roughly 25 students. And so they will be working together as a cohort to do a class project. I believe the project this year will be working with community services to do food pantries. as well as just working together to learn a lot about the county, but also their individual departments. So we do have them scheduled to come before the Board of Commissioners at the July 6th meeting where they'll do introduce themselves to the board and the community. So excited, but we can give them a hand now.

All right. Any remarks for what you want to say in words of encouragement, Commissioner Rackson? I'm just tickled pink.

Yes. And congratulations. We're looking forward to working with you. Anything that we could do this summer to make this employment experience more meaningful, please let us know. And we are just very, very excited to have you. and to have the next generation of leaders that's here in the audience that will be serving as leaders in some form of capacity. So congratulations. No, I'll just say I'll save mine for July 6th. July 6th. You guys will get a great grand old hoopla on July 6th.

All right, Vice Chair, I know you can't see us, so you can as well. I just want to congratulate you all for embarking upon a journey that started in my administration in 2017, was it when we looked at it, Tiffany? It was just a, I don't think it was a harebrained idea. It was an excellent idea because you're our future. You're going to take us to the next level. And I am just so excited to see you, all the bright eyes here this morning as we go forward. I know all of you have a bright future. and i'll save my remarks as well but i just wanted to i was just happy when i walked in and saw that all of you all here this morning prepared to take us to the next level uh in our county so thank you thank you thank you with that being said thank you madam chief of staff aca and thank you to the board of commissioners for always providing opportunities to our youth under our devil's kind of youth initiative we're very appreciative of the opportunity thank you And I want to thank the Board of Commissioners also because buying in on this idea. We're so happy to have you.
