running question. Good morning everybody. We'll get this meeting called to order. I'll make a motion to start the meeting and approve the agenda. I'll second. Those in favor? I. Minutes of the February 10th, 2026 board meeting. I'll make a motion to approve. Second it. Those in favor? I
advertise for county engineer position. And we got the finalized sheet on that, right Brad? Or he sent it to you sent it to and it's a combination. One's a long version, one's the advertised issue. Kind of depends on what format you're going to advertise. If it's an expensive print version, then the shorter version would suffice initially. Okay. That's for Brad's replacement. You read through those J. I'm good with them. I read through. I'm good with them.
We'll make a motion to approve them. And before we go forward, Brad, are you placing them or are we do it either way, whatever. I think the responses should come back through the supervisor's office. Um, so but uh I don't know how many places you would like to place. Probably more the marrier. Unless it's expensive. So yeah. So I'll get you a suggested list of places and if you want us to send it. Okay, that's fine. That will work. All right. All those in favor? Hi.
I resignation letter from Gary Smith, Waffle County Assessor. Gary saw this on the agenda, so he bowed out of the meeting. So, actually left the courthouse. So, we did have a a little mini mini party with all the area assessors over Pete's range last week and we presented him with a plaque for years of service. And I know he's he gets a little emotional about it. Been here a long time. How long was he been here? 37.
I don't know for sure because he did some time in Mahaska County and then came back and he's been in the assessment world for over 40 years. I was thinking it was 37 or 38 years here, but a lifetime. and he's turning it over to Travis, who seems to be having a totally different hair day.
That's first thing I noticed when you stand up, wrestling tournament's over, he's going back to normal, right? So, yeah, you guys get a chance, you know, make contact with Gary and Tom, thanks for your years of service. Know he'll appreciate it. So, I'll make a motion to approve. I'll second it. Those in favor?
I 28E agreement regarding service contracting W County Sheriff's Office and the city of Eddieville. Says 10% increase into what they pay us for contract patrol of 60 hours a month is what it is. has helped it. I went to each one of the cities and asked for a 10% increase for uh revenue increase to help out with expenses. Do you have to do one of these for each one of the cities? You know, Eddieville is the only one that requests an additional 20 a new. The other ones don't request it. So, I don't Okay. I don't see us needing to do that.
Long as you got right. So, that's why just wonder when it was only them. So, I'll make a motion to approve. I'll second. Those in favor? I tell my family trout fishing day donation. They ask for $500 to give this every year. Anybody know how much they raised total? Do you know Tom at all? Is it like $5,000 or something total? As for the fishing trout fishing day in March before the w of course by then the waters might be really warm where things are going. I'm going to make a motion to approve. I'll second that. Those in favor?
I. All right. Elden uptown downtown donation. Do they have a dollar amount? They they was not a dollar amount requested. Karen looked it up and the last time was money was given was $10,000 back in 2020. So with that being said, I'm going to make a motion to table that until we get done with our budget. Get some more details on what it's what it is what it's for. I think that last one was opera house or something like that. You remember Chad? Mm-m. I told her I thought we gave money before, but
Opera House is different than Elden Uptown Downtown. So, maybe one of us can make contact to see what it is they're requesting. All right. I'll go with your motion to table that. Those in favor of table. All right. Amended and restated joint agreement for operation of maintenance of sanitary landfill. This is a new updated agreement. I think the other been replaced for eternity since it started it. It had never been updated. So the DNR required that it be updated along with the new comp plan stuff and the city's already approved it.
I'm going to make a motion to approve. I'll second it. Those in favor? I I personnel request request a payroll approval, change of employment, sheriff's department. It's just uh put one of the cos is currently there and will sergeant positions. Okay, I'll make motion approve. Who is it? Do you have a last name on it? What's that? The employee is Vandor. Vanor. Okay. Yeah. I'll second that. Those in favor I request for payroll approval. New Ohio sheriff's department.
Just a vacancy in the one of the jail positions to approve. Okay. Those in favor? I. Any other business come before the board? J. So, I I didn't know whether to bring this up uh now or I guess with I didn't know Brian wasn't going to be here today, but um I just wanted to kind of bring it up. I don't know if you guys saw the the the House file that the pass through committee and is made it through the funnel regarding the renewable energy standards that they have proposed. Have you seen any of that at all?
I haven't seen the draft. No, I heard it went through but I haven't seen it. So they've created a basically a standardized setback distance from various structures, non-participating um you know properties and whatever. Um obviously it's a long ways from from becoming a law because it's got to go through the Senate yet and all that before it would go to the full house or legislature for for a vote. Um, did you want to know what some of those proposals are at this point or I can pull them or you can email them to me either way. We actually have a meeting. Okay. Thursdays. All right. Over that. So, okay. At one o'clock. All right.
If you're bored. No, I'll be there. It's just um it is going to be in Eddieville. What? No, it's not. Why don't you take me core out to the county even further? Why don't you do that? Pink room 1:00 on Thursday. So, yeah. Um, you had to think about it though. I did have to think about it. Yeah. My mind's going about 100 miles per hour. Um, but it does some of the What's the house file number? You got that?
Yeah, it's 2580 2580. And the way it looks, it would the county would have to weaken its ordinance. It's proposed in some areas. It it basically calls for maximum distances for setbacks. So, you can go over, but you can go under. Um, just be some food for thought for when you have your meeting on Thursday, I guess, because who knows if this thing will pass as it is. you know, or if there'll be a lot of changes to it or Yeah, they actually about the last two years. So,
yeah. Yeah, this one originated in the House and it and it passed out a subcommittee. So, it or a committee, so it uh it's now house file instead of a study bill. And I think they put it on their calendar for House debate. I don't know when that's going to be, but it'll be up for debate from the way it sounds. So,
anything else? No, that's it. Anybody else? Call for a motion to adjourn. I'll make it. I'll second. Those in favor? I I thanks for coming.
