County Council meeting this meeting is being recorded wonderful we will begin with the Pledge of Allegiance will be which will be offered by our County Manager Andy Please forgive me, Andy. That was a complete brain cramp. We have in the meeting our county attorney, Kendall Thomas, from the council. I'm Scott Wardle, vice chair. We excuse our chairman, Jared Hamner, who is out of town. Eric Strongberg from the council. We're excusing Ty Hoffman, Andy Welch, and then various members of the staff are with us today. We'll go on to item number four, public comments. Is there anyone who would like to make a public comment? Seeing no hands, we will move on to item number five, resolutions and ordinances. Resolution 2026-21, resolution by the Tooele County to pick up public service employers required URS contributions, presented by Nathan Harris.
Thank you, Councilman Wardle. This resolution is for tier two public safety employees within the county. URS has mandatory... contributions by employees if you are a Tier 2 employee. And that's to put into the retirement system and to help fund it continuously. And so generally speaking for normal Tier 2s, I say that as a differentiation between the public safety ones, that can't be picked up. But state code does allow you to pick up the employee contributions for public safety employees. That amount is increasing currently. Tula County pays 4.73% of the public safety employee salary towards their retirement. It is now going up. And I believe it'll be, I don't believe it will be 5.98%. If you pass this resolution, that's the contribution that is now required by tier two employees. And so if you pass this resolution, public safety employees will get all of that employee contribution covered under this resolution.
Nathan, in paragraph one on the B...
Does it? It is public safety.
Okay, so it does say public service employees, so we will need to amend the agenda and we need to amend the resolution. So what I'd like to do is amend the agenda to read Resolution 202621, resolution by Tooele County to pick up the public safety employees required URS contributions and strike the word service. Is there a second?
Second.
We have a second. All those in favor say aye. Aye. Okay, now that we've amended the agenda, I'd like to make an amendment on. Oh, the resolution is okay. Yeah, the resolution.
It was just the agenda.
But we need to amend the agenda under the be it resolved Paragraph number one, the date that this is supposed to be effective is July 1, 2026, not May 29th. So I'd like to strike, I'd like to make an amendment to strike May 29th and insert July 1st, 2026. Is there a second? Second. Okay, we have a second. All those in favor say aye.
Aye.
The amendment passes. Now I'll entertain a motion on the resolution.
So moved. Resolution 2026-21, as amended.
We have a motion by Councilman Thomas. Is there a second? Second. There's a second by Councilman Stromberg. All those in favor, say aye. Aye. Any opposed? The resolution passes. Kendall, do you have an update? Council updates. Council update. Eric?
