0:03David Karp

We have to seat each other. And I'll do...

0:09Speaker 4

I'll call the roll.

0:09David Karp

You go ahead.

0:11Speaker 4

Chair David Carr.

0:13Speaker 4

Vice Chair Joanna Katz. Here. Board Member Mary Henderson. Here. Board Member Rita Rodriguez-Spector.

0:22Speaker 4

Chair, you have a quorum.

0:23 – 0:34David Karp

Okay, thank you. Commissioner?

0:34Speaker 4

Gerardo? So he has comments for items 6E and 6F. Okay.

0:41 – 1:08David Karp

6E and 6F. Hello, Kayla. Hello. And we have no public here. And anybody want to make a change, add anything, a correction to the minutes? Okay, so I need a motion to approve the minutes as written.

1:09Joanna Katz

I make a motion to approve the minutes as written.

1:11David Karp

I need a second. I'll second. Okay, Rita. All those in favor say aye.

1:19Speaker 4

Any opposed?

1:20 – 1:34David Karp

Any opposed? Six A.

1:37 – 2:22Rita Regev Spector

My response is Y. David and Gerardo were kind enough to join us and despite all the publicity and the postings and somehow it did not land and maybe everybody could offer suggestions on what to do next time. Maybe it's the day, maybe it's the time. Maybe it's flyer distribution at the stores downtown, the hotels. Was it invasive because it was on Sunday?

2:22Speaker 5

Hi. Are you guys speaking like public? Yes. Oh, great. How are you? Good, how are you? Welcome.

2:32 – 2:54Speaker 2

Through the chair, I would just add that I think maybe the date, because it was close to the holidays, you know, could have been, like, there's a lot of people around, but a lot of people have a lot going on that week. So I think that might have been, you know, obviously, the longer the lead time, also, the better for promotion, the more you can promote. But I think this date might have been a good date.

2:54Speaker 5

That week is, like, the hardest week. I would really try to be there. Is Sunday a good day, do you think?

2:59Joanna Katz

I think Sunday's a good day. I think there's just a lot of people, especially the orthodontists.

3:05Mary Henderson

The orthodontist is usually on Sundays, like this past Sunday. I was walking my dog and it was packed.

3:13Rita Regev Spector

Oh yeah, it was packed when we were walking too. They just weren't working with us.

3:19Joanna Katz

specific week. I wouldn't worry about the day of the week or the time.

3:23 – 3:43Rita Regev Spector

I really think that we... And maybe we can create a flyer sooner and, you know, all of us could take a bundle and designate territories. Like, somebody will count just, like, the hotels or the condos and downtown, you know, the stores.

3:43Joanna Katz

Do you have a date? Like, is it once a month?

3:47David Karp

The time is a problem for me.

3:49Rita Regev Spector

It was too early or too late? Too early. Okay, what time did we have it?

3:54Speaker 5

I think it was too early for older people. They start waking up around 10.

4:01David Karp

I think that's what you were hoping for.

4:05Rita Regev Spector

So what about 9 o'clock at some point in February? Should we try? I would like that better.

4:11Mary Henderson

Possibly if it's still not working.

4:16 – 4:43Joanna Katz

Is that like I don't think you're gonna make everyone happy with one time like for me like The 8 o'clock we do that or the 9 o'clock like I like to get my day started So like I think it just depends person to person so I would say do what makes sense for you you guys and then maybe we switch our 8 I think that I think everybody's different, you know, like some people sleep it. I wake up at 6 So like by 9, I'm already like in my day on Sunday.

4:43Rita Regev Spector

Yeah. So 9 could be too late.

4:46 – 5:01Joanna Katz

So I think, but I think we can, as May said, I think we should switch off. Maybe do every other one as we've talked about before where it's like evening, morning. So if you're not a morning person, you do the evening or your evening. Maybe should we schedule like two for February? Good morning.

5:02 – 5:15Speaker 2

Through the chair. There's a lot going on in February. I mean, there's events three of the four weekends, and the Gazette deadline has already passed. So keep in mind that you're not going to get a lot of lead time, and you may, you know, I don't know.

5:15Joanna Katz

Can I make another recommendation?

5:17 – 5:33Joanna Katz

Maybe it's something where it's the same day every month. Like, it's every third Sunday or something like that. So people just know, and it's just you don't have to advertise it the same way because it's just consistently always that, and you know that's when you go. Uh-huh. Okay.

5:35David Karp

We set up a chat, but I really don't like being the administrator of it. We had a last stand.

5:41Speaker 5

Well, yeah, I stripped it. I didn't know how to do that. I don't either.

5:45David Karp

I just erased everybody's name.

5:47 – 6:06David Karp

And then I set up a new one. But, I mean, other events you don't, you know, say I'm coming or something. So I would like to get rid of that. join us. If anything, I'll talk with Rita the whole time.

6:06Rita Regev Spector

As we're walking, just gather them.

6:14 – 6:34Speaker 2

So because the schedule, I mean, you know, you can look at it with me for February, but it's pretty full. Is this maybe something you want to start in March so we have enough time to message and then you can keep, say, and then looking at March, maybe what Sunday is the best. In March right now, the first and second of the month are open. I'd like to do...

6:34Joanna Katz

I'd say the first Sunday of the month.

6:36 – 6:50David Karp

Yeah, I'd like to put that only because... that might happen again? Depends, if they want their own.

6:50Joanna Katz

Whoever comes in brings in their own people, so.

6:54David Karp

You can reapply. Is there like an announcement of quick, there are just two candidates? So far.

7:01 – 7:22Speaker 2

Well, through the chair, also this board was created, I think, at Commissioner Valdosta's request. It may sunset with this group unless the next group asks for it. That's right, so I'd like to recommend getting it The first one. Before the election. Okay, so we could do March 1st, Sunday, March 1st, and then the first, you know, starting every month after that. Okay.

7:23David Karp

March 1st, read it. What do you want? Do you want a 5? And 9 a.m. or? 9 a.m. or?

7:31Mary Henderson

March 1st, you're in Phoenix?

7:33Speaker 2

What's next week? March 8th could be the second of the month. Are you here? Yeah. Second Sunday. Okay, so second Sunday. I'm not looking at it.

7:42David Karp

Okay, March 8th, and what do you want to read? Do you want the morning or the evening walk?

7:48 – 8:28Rita Regev Spector

Should we do both the same day or no? Is that scary? Just one. Let's see. That's the late savings time. So is that ahead or spring forward? Spring forward. So that would be, so if we're doing the second Sunday, then we have to also check with Passover and Easter. When? 12th, 13th, 10th. Mother's Day is May 10th. So, no Mother's Day. Well, March 8th, is March 8th a Sunday?

8:28Speaker 4

Yeah, not the Women's Day. Women's Day? Mother's Day is May 10th. Oh, this is March, though.

8:35Rita Regev Spector

We're doing the second Sunday. I mean, there's always going to be something.

8:39David Karp

Let's just do one, and then if we're reelected, if we're re... Oh, that's right. If we're combined, then we'll do the next one.

8:44 – 8:58Rita Regev Spector

Okay. Yeah. March 8th, I would say. What would you like? Could we vote on it to see who likes 8, who likes 9, or 8.30? Do it any way you want. If it's at 9, I'll make it. Come to town. Do 9.

8:58Joanna Katz

If more people like to sleep in, do 9. At the same place? So that's a good question. Instead of 88, let's make it 87.

9:16 – 9:28Rita Regev Spector

Oh, that's a good idea. More central. And then we walk towards the market, which is open at 9. And if people want to continue to the barge, fine. Good idea.

9:28Speaker 2

You said at 9, sorry? 9. Okay, perfect.

9:31 – 10:00Rita Regev Spector

And then we could even, you know, the option of if they're coming with their family and they want to park their stuff at the community center, you know, if somebody wants to hang back and not go, somebody in the family can go. The father can take the two kids and the mother can sit down and read a book for an hour. Okay. Very good. And... Right. Sweat. Do we have stuff to give away? Do we have any of those water bottles?

10:00Speaker 5

Those blue water bottles?

10:01Speaker 2

No. I mean, I'll have to look, but I'm about to give a lot of this stuff away. I mean, it is the tourist board stuff, and I have to give most of it away. Yeah, you can buy this stuff.

10:10Rita Regev Spector

You can do like the first 20 people, you know, who don't need 100 pieces of anything.

10:14Speaker 2

Maybe some of the, like maybe I could do 20 fanny packs, like the kind we do.

10:18David Karp

Do you need a budget for that, or do you have it?

10:20Speaker 2

No, I think that I can save from what we have. I can grab 20. But maybe for, you know, future months maybe you want to consider.

10:28David Karp

We can always store it at the community center until we come back. Yeah, that's great.

10:34Rita Regev Spector

Okay, I'll put the fanny packs down.

10:39Speaker 2

And if we have, like, excess leftover stuff, I'll offer it to you guys. Yeah.

10:50David Karp

Frank, how do you want to advertise it? Do you want to put it in the Gazette?

10:53 – 11:14Speaker 2

Yeah, I'll put it in the Gazette and then I'll update the flyer. I'm not sure that, I think the flyer might have mentioned the WhatsApp group. We'll just eliminate all of that and just say, you know, just show up if you can. So we'll adjust that. I'll send it out to the group via email as soon as I have it. So either later this week or early next.

11:16David Karp

Can you put it on Nextdoor? Yeah, yeah, of course. I'll put it on all of the channels. And email blasts. And Rita, do you want flyers?

11:23 – 11:37Rita Regev Spector

Yes, I'd like flyers, and I'll take the condos from 88th to 96th Street. And if anyone else wants to do the stores, the restaurants and stores downtown.

11:37Speaker 5

I could go down Hardy.

11:39David Karp

And you just take tape and ask them if you can put it up?

11:41Speaker 5

I don't even know.

11:42Rita Regev Spector

No, you just bring them, and they put them in the mail room. Okay.

11:45David Karp

You know, the... No, no, in the shops.

11:48Rita Regev Spector

I feel like I'll ask whoever is working there. Yeah, if they're willing to do that, that'd be awesome. Yeah. Okay, thank you very much.

11:58David Karp

So, Rita will do the condos, and Kayla will do the... Downtown. Downtown.

12:09Rita Regev Spector

Take your mother. I love it. I love telling people to live in downtown.

12:13Speaker 5

I'll take my daughter.

12:14Rita Regev Spector

Oh, and then she'll go, yeah, they'll give her bagels.

12:18Speaker 5

Handles will give her ice cream.

12:21Joanna Katz

By the way, hands are really good.

12:22Rita Regev Spector

You guys see how I'm in there?

12:24Joanna Katz

It's great. Yeah, 16 handles is great. Oh, yeah.

12:28Speaker 2

It's included in the newsletter.

12:31 – 12:55David Karp

Okay, I'd like to make a motion while we have our youth guest here to move this. Let me just make sure I have this on here. Yes, 60, may I? Do I need a motion to move that? Yes. So I'd like a motion to move a 60 and bike safety awareness event to discuss now since we have one of our youth councilors. What's your name?

12:56Joanna Katz

I second that.

12:58David Karp

All those in favor say aye.

12:59Joanna Katz

I'll make the motion to move up 6D to 6B. I'll second it.

13:03Mary Henderson

All those in favor say aye.

13:26David Karp

And what's your last name? Garcia. Welcome. And very impressive. They know how to run a meeting. Oh, yeah.

13:36Joanna Katz

Can I take a picture and send it to your mom?

13:39Mary Henderson

She knows I'm here, so.

13:42 – 14:26David Karp

We'll get a group one, too. So they had a meeting. They're going to work with Michelle Weinberg, who Gerardo. Did Gerardo give us anything on 60? Okay, so the Youth Council is going to do a study with Michelle Weinberg over two days, correct me if I'm wrong, on encouraging bike safety and educating people. The Youth Council is going to try to get as many of their friends for that. And then the second meeting, I think, was going to be a follow-up. Is that right, Ella?

14:26 – 15:01Speaker 3

I think the second... Yeah, it was going to be kind of like an informal... It wasn't going to be really like an event that we're trying to push out to the public like we usually do. It's going to be more of like... the youth council aiding in Michelle's research and collecting data. So it could be limited to just our members that are going to join. But we're going to publicize, do a post or something. But it's not going to be any QR code, sign up for this thing. It's going to be more of like, first come, first serve, whoever shows up. And yeah, there'll be a forum.

15:01David Karp

And did I say we would partner with them? I think we were going to put our name on it too.

15:08Speaker 5

Through the chair, sorry. If you could say your name and address for the record. Ella Garcia, 7590th Street.

15:16 – 15:37David Karp

So then I spoke after that. It wasn't what we had in mind, like safety, but I said we would certainly... put our name, our committee to it, and if any of us wanted to come, and if you needed some money, we could do that too. So that's how that ended. Right, Ella?

15:37Speaker 3

There was also the collaboration with the police department.

15:40 – 15:55David Karp

Right, so I'll talk about that now. So at our last meeting, a couple of us brought up a bike safety event. Giving away helmets, checking... The tires, I think Rita you were going to talk to.

15:55Rita Regev Spector

I did. I spoke to him. Oh, Sam. He's on board. What's the name of that?

16:00David Karp

His company?

16:02Rita Regev Spector

They're on 74th Street. C&B or? Yeah. The bike place.

16:06Joanna Katz

So, just to, I don't know if you know, Avery Pack is married to Sarah Litz, who a lot of you know because she does events. He owns two bike companies.

16:17Joanna Katz

They live on Byron. So, they're another JV bike.

16:20David Karp

So Rita at the last meeting knew JB Bike.

16:23Joanna Katz

This is a bike store?

16:25Joanna Katz

Yeah, he's more of a manufacturer of bikes, so it's probably a different thing.

16:29Rita Regev Spector

Yeah, he's worked with the Miami Beach Police Department. Great, yeah. And he'll come and he'll... You're going.

16:35 – 17:33David Karp

Yeah. Okay. Great. And then... But if you have something... No, no, no. Okay. So then I talked to Cheap Press, and he wants to do this very badly. Good. So then I or Frank, we'd have to meet with Chief Press to see what he wants to do, stationed. the right height of the seat, the handlebars. Like I said before, I was at one where they engraved my son's bike, so if it was stolen, I could call the police. And if they did come across one, here was my number. I think that's a good idea. We also talked about maybe an obstacle course where a red stop sign. So Chief Press has done this, and he had quite a lot of ideas.

17:33 – 17:51Joanna Katz

Through the chair, when my kids were little, in the parking lot right out there, we also did that for skateboarding. I don't know if you want to incorporate that in. They actually put out mats to show the safe way to fall, which is really helpful because a lot of these kids are out there on their skateboards, and it's a little... And scooters, yes.

17:51Speaker 5

And so we did mention all of that. Just nothing planned out. So because the youth group is putting our name on their event, I'm going to put their name.

18:17 – 19:07David Karp

you know we might have asked you to man a station you know if we have okay so so I first like to make a motion to incorporate the Youth Council on our I'd like someone to make a motion to make a motion to include the Youth Council in our event second okay any discussion on that sorry do the chair what would be the name of the recommended by Safety Rodeo. So just a discussion. They don't have to do any pre-planning with us. They'll get their committee to try to get people to come. And they can bring their bikes and scooters, and they can be involved, or they can help out. Is that right?

19:09 – 19:28David Karp

All those in favor, say aye. Aye. All those opposed, motion passes. Okay. Not yet, so. Anyway, now, next part of it. So, would anybody like to, like, I'll be glad to meet with Chief Press to see his ideas.

19:32 – 19:43Joanna Katz

Yeah, and I also am relatively friendly with Michelle who, you've heard of it, she's an incredible advocate for safety. So that's part two.

19:44David Karp

So do you want to do it or do you want me to do it? If we met when she pressed, can she and I both go or can that only be one person?

19:55Speaker 4

I think it would probably only be one. Okay. I can double check for you. Yeah, either way.

20:01David Karp

Okay, because you witnessed one.

20:04 – 20:38David Karp

And you would just have to set up the time with him and see if Frank can come. And then if I'm allowed, if you'll let me know and I'll email us all. Unless somebody else wants to do it. Unless somebody else wants to be in on it. I'm happy to. I'll be glad to help you out. Okay. Okay, next. So Michelle has written me a couple of emails. She's the next part. Okay. She's aiming for March or April to do this because it's called micro, it could be called the micro mobility rodeo.

20:40 – 21:11David Karp

Micro. And I'll read what she wrote. And then she wrote me another micro mobility. I am helmet fit certified and anyone who distributes a helmet must fit each individual properly and have the helmet accounted for. I'd be happy to help with that and include Sue from Bike 305. Do you know her? No. Okay. And UM Mickey Witt from the Kids Neuroscience to join us.

21:12 – 21:34David Karp

Okay, so that's her first email. She can't meet today. I invited her today. And then I asked her what dates were good. So everybody write this down. She said March 15th, 22nd or 29th. Angie, you have those for me. Okay. April 19th or 26th. Okay.

21:34Joanna Katz

Well, as you mentioned, we don't know if we'll still be even.

21:38 – 22:38David Karp

Right, exactly. Okay, so here's what she's doing. Here's one more email and then we'll talk. Okay. I highly recommend getting as many people that are interested and have the ability to get helmet fit certified. For all your information, Frank, you might want to publish this. I'll send this to you. The helmet fitter certification will take place on February 18, 2026, 10 to 12. So if you want to become a fitter, it's at the Miami-Dade Center. transportation planning organization office if you could forward those emails to me also so all of them yeah the ones we're reading into the record oh sure okay I'll do that after I so if anybody is interested in learning how to be a fitter it's on March 6th 18th at 150 West Flagler Street so I'll send this to Angie Frank and then Angie if you'll put it up you'll put all these out to us

22:39Speaker 4

Yes, I can share with the board.

22:40 – 23:20David Karp

Okay, so if any of you are interested, just show up. It's from Jesus Fuentes, P.E., Miami Dade, TPO, in-house consultant. Okay. All right, so she's very... board with helping us I'd like to I think we should go it just my opinion I know what you said we might be out of office but if we could get one of the March dates I mean Youth Council will be there we could just come as residents you can you know if they if they strip the committee's like they do the chair yeah I guess true

23:20 – 23:45Joanna Katz

strategy-wise if we have this incredible event that is good for the health of our children's heads planned in April and they disband us and don't want to do this event that's very you know it's like yeah so I think we go ahead with whatever we want to do assume that they see this as value for the community and through the chair it's going to be joint with PD so you know PD is not going to get disbanded so I think there's there's virtually no chance yeah that

23:45 – 24:02Speaker 2

This should get disbanded. Just in terms of the dates for March, the 15th is going to be one of the film screenings for the Miami Film Festival, so I wouldn't do the 15th, but the 22nd is open, and then I think the April dates are as well. I may not be here, but I don't need to be.

24:02David Karp

But you'll have a job, right?

24:04Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, I'm just traveling. Yeah, just traveling.

24:08Mary Henderson

What day? Okay. How's March 22nd?

24:13David Karp

I like that March 22nd. Let's do the March 22nd.

24:16 – 24:28Speaker 2

Wait, wait, wait, Frank. And just so you know, also the 19th of April is not good because there's a big Earth Day event. So I would, if you look at April, the 26th is better. And the 22nd in March seems better.

24:28 – 25:12David Karp

All right, let's give two dates. Let's give one in April in case Chief Press can't get it organized. Okay. So what were the dates? So March 22nd or April 26th? April 26th. Okay. Um... leave the time up to Chief Press? Do we want to, what else, should we approve a budget amount? For the helmets? The whole thing? Yeah, the whole thing. Let's do, I think the helmets might be free, but they have to be fitted. I think that's the condition. Joanna?

25:12Joanna Katz

I was thinking we just say a little higher. Yeah, maybe a little higher than we think it may be, just in case there's things we're not thinking of.

25:21David Karp

How much money do we have left, Frank?

25:24Speaker 2

You have, I think you're shy, like $9,000. Oh, okay.

25:27Rita Regev Spector

Let's go all out. We say $2,000, but if we spend less money.

25:30David Karp

This is to buy, huh? If possible, helmets, pizza.

25:36Joanna Katz

Let's just say $2,000, and then if we don't have to spend it, then we don't.

25:39David Karp

Well, we'll work through the police chief. He might say, I can get them free. Or Michelle might say, I can get them as long as you let me fit in.

25:46Joanna Katz

It's always easier to not use the money than not ask for it and try to...

25:49 – 26:00David Karp

And then we can get pizza. I think at the last meeting we said we'll only start getting fialcoffs because that way we don't have to go to two different places. You can have water.

26:01Speaker 5

They're ahead of me. Sometimes they burn their pizza, sometimes they don't.

26:07Speaker 5

Well, you know. But it's still good.

26:08David Karp

I think, Frank, you were going to ask the Grove for something. Did you talk to the Grove? They never burn it. Did you talk to the Grove? Rita, did you approach the Grove?

26:18Rita Regev Spector

I know the manager.

26:21David Karp

Do you want to see if they wanted... Does it matter which pizza vendor we use?

26:25Speaker 2

No, it doesn't matter.

26:26Speaker 5

I'm sure they would love to contribute as long as it's kosher.

26:28Speaker 2

Yeah, so I made that letter for the thing. I mean, I don't know. That's for the next item for the sponsorship, so I don't want to jump ahead. What's the letter for again? For sponsorships for the resource fair.

26:37David Karp

Okay, so we use that for the Grove, if Rita can arrange something.

26:44Speaker 2

Sure. If you're going to talk to them, you might as well mention everything you want to have sponsored.

26:50 – 27:25Rita Regev Spector

Okay, so pizza. What else? The advantage of going with The Grove is that they have hundreds of vendors who supply them. Vendors want to keep their clients happy. So they might say, you know what, I'll give you four cases of chips, you know, this and that and all that, to stay in their good graces, so they keep reordering from them. That's true. So that's probably more... Please. And we want the letter from Frank.

27:25David Karp

Yes, please. Okay. And do we want, what was that little ice cream vendor? She was like in a cart. She scooped it. Was that from Rita's or something?

27:33Speaker 2

But we still don't know where this is going to be, right?

27:38David Karp

I think Chief Press and I mentioned right here.

27:40Joanna Katz

Yeah, that's where we did the last one.

27:43David Karp

When I talked to him, I think I...

27:44Joanna Katz

At the parking lot right there? Yeah, that's what they did the last one. They cleared out all the cars.

27:48Speaker 2

So far, we have no date. So we're asking, you know, how can we ask people, are you available for what date? Ask who for available? The food people? Well, the people for food. Yeah, you have to tell them when the event is.

27:57Joanna Katz

We have to commit to the date. We have to ask chief press as soon as possible.

28:02Speaker 2

I think maybe, like, it might be better after next meeting once we have all the details to talk to. And we have enough time. All we need is a month advance, right? Yeah.

28:10David Karp

Okay. All right. So you'll report back.

28:18 – 28:30Speaker 2

Yeah The other one will wait till we have the date and you have the one for the resource fair which we have to talk about the new All right.

28:30David Karp

So what kind of motions do we need? So we already approved it this we have to approve the money to would somebody make a motion to approve?

28:37Joanna Katz

I make a motion to approve $2,000 for the bike rodeo I'll second

28:47David Karp

And Frank, if you see a cute little souvenir for the day or something. For the... The bike. The bike thing.

28:55 – 29:09Speaker 2

I think for that I said, I told them that I would donate some of the reflective fanny packs because they are safety and we already have them. Oh, that's smart. Okay, great. That'd be perfect. I am going to, yeah, save some of those. You can do a bell.

29:09Rita Regev Spector

Nothing more than kids like a fanny pack, right?

29:13Rita Regev Spector

Yeah, I have a horn that I can move sometimes. Do you want to... Should we get Belle?

29:18 – 29:48Joanna Katz

Yeah, and I have to say, and I didn't take the picture because I thought it would be creepy, but I was walking the dog and there were three probably 13-year-old boys on fast scooters. So fast. No, they were wearing their helmets and they stopped at the stop sign. And I said, you guys, great job. Thank you so much. We stopped. And they were like, and I was almost like, can I take your picture? Because I wanted to put it on next door. I decided it would be weird. But I watched them too. They stopped at the next stop sign and they were very considerate of the street.

29:48Speaker 2

They should do a video telling people why.

29:52Rita Regev Spector

Maybe the youth council could get some kids together and do a video.

29:59Speaker 2

Well, they did a safety video last year with some of these boys.

30:04Rita Regev Spector

But it's coming from like 7-year-olds and 10-year-olds. It's like, no, I believe it's like safety.

30:09 – 30:20David Karp

Okay, well, we're on the right track. This is exciting because it's safety for the kids. So that's one of our... Okay, so we passed the $2,000? Through the chair.

30:20Speaker 4

All those in favor, say aye. Aye. Thank you.

30:24David Karp

All those opposed? Motion passes. There you go. Okay. And is there anything else, Frank, we should include?

30:32Speaker 2

I don't think so. I think, yeah, we just need to lock in the date for that, and then we can get, you know, start working on the details.

30:39David Karp

Okay. So, Joanna, you'll meet?

30:41Joanna Katz

Yeah, I'll make.

30:41David Karp

I called the non-emergency number, and they put me through to him, but the voicemail didn't.

30:49Joanna Katz

I might just stop downstairs and leave a note.

30:52Speaker 2

Or you can let me know what works for you, and then I'll... Oh, that'd be great.

30:55David Karp

And if I can come, Angie, let me know, and I'd like to go too.

30:59Speaker 5

To speak with Chief Press?

31:01David Karp

But Joanna is our chair for this.

31:03Speaker 5

Is this going to be called the Micromobility Rodeo?

31:06David Karp

Do you like that title?

31:08Speaker 3

If it's a kid's thing, I don't know if kids are able to do it.

31:11 – 31:27David Karp

Well, I think, you know, since your group is working with Michelle, and she's giving me this, she's bringing these people to do the fitting, I think we can, I can also ask, if she's your good friend, you could ask her what a good title would be. I do like micro mobility. It's sort of the high end.

31:27Speaker 3

It sounds cool, but yeah. A lot of kids go. They might just be like, oh, bike rodeo.

31:32Joanna Katz

Bike rodeo might be more. Bike safety. Just like, oh, tell me what's going on.

31:35David Karp

How's bike safety rodeo? Or just call it bike rodeo?

31:38Joanna Katz

I think bike safety rodeo is good. It gives them the strength.

31:42Speaker 5

Then they know they have to wear helmets.

31:46 – 32:13David Karp

Okay. So if it helps Michelle with her mobility, Which, you know, with her, what she's doing with the Youth Council on us, I have no problem going with micromobility if that's what she would, but if, but see what she, just get rid of it. I'll text her right now. Okay. Ask her if she minds it. Anything else, anything else you have? Any ideas? Do you have anything else you would like to share?

32:16Speaker 3

I mean, I think that's pretty much it. We were just going to do activities, but that would kind of be up to, like, PD or us, like, setting up the cones and stuff.

32:24 – 32:50David Karp

Okay, so my thoughts were that it'll be our committee. You just bring people. Yeah. And yourself. But we can certainly make you a partner. So, frankly, you would put in conjunction with the police department, community relations, and the youth council. And then if you could talk about it at your next meeting, If you would come to ours, when's our next meeting, Angie? All right, I have it here.

32:51Speaker 4

February 19th.

32:52David Karp

February 19th.

32:54Speaker 4

It's at 4, so it's a little bit later.

32:58 – 33:14David Karp

At 4 o'clock. Can I jump ahead to that just in case they say that's not a good day or time? Do I have to make a motion for that? Yes. Just in case she wants to. That way we give her the exact date. Is there a motion? Okay, everybody look at their count. I'd like a motion to move 8A to discussion now.

33:15Mary Henderson

I'll make a motion to move 8A under 6C. Is it C now?

33:23Speaker 5

Yes, C now. No, D. We just did how many? No, no, because we moved that one up. Oh, true.

33:29David Karp

So if you move it up, do the alphabetical letters change too?

33:33Speaker 5

I guess. Yes, so it would be to move it to 6C.

33:37David Karp

Okay, is there a motion? There was a motion. Is there a second?

33:42David Karp

All those in favor say aye. Aye. Opposed? Okay, motion passes. Everybody look at their calendar because that's when we're going to plan this.

33:53Speaker 2

It's going to be on Thursday. Oh, Frank, Frank, Frank. It's all right. I mean, if we start at 4, the event is at 6. So do we want 3 again?

34:02David Karp

I'm fine with that. Okay. First of all, let's start with the date. Thursday, February 19th. I think she wanted to do it.

34:14Speaker 5

What they would remove it to, if not.

34:16Rita Regev Spector

Oh, then we have a meeting, then.

34:18David Karp

Yeah, but is that, are you going to, can you be here?

34:20Rita Regev Spector

Oh, oh. Yeah, I'm planning on it.

34:25Speaker 2

It's the 19th of February, Thursday.

34:27Rita Regev Spector

Yeah, and we have Mediterranean. Oh, yeah, I have the 16th of February.

34:31David Karp

Yeah, you can go right into the Mediterranean. Do we want 3 o'clock, or do we, okay, Joanna, what did you find?

34:38Joanna Katz

For the 19th? Yeah, it's the day of our meeting and that's fine for me.

34:42David Karp

Okay, if not, if you're...

34:43Joanna Katz

It's 3 or 4 o'clock, okay. Oh, for the meeting? Yeah, it's at 4 o'clock.

34:48David Karp

Yeah, 4 o'clock's here, but if we want to get out before the party, yeah.

34:52Speaker 4

Do the chair pray? Would 3 p.m. be better for you?

34:55 – 35:06Speaker 2

I mean, I think two hours is enough for the meeting, so maybe it's actually better for you guys because you don't have to, like, go and come back and, you know what I mean? Right, that's true. Yeah, if you want to go to the event, you can just go straight out. Okay.

35:06David Karp

Okay. All right, so our next meeting... You're welcome to come or another committee or as many that want to come.

35:14Speaker 3

February 19th at 4.

35:16 – 35:27David Karp

And then Joanna and Chief and Frank will have it. The events. Do I have to make a motion for that or is it already?

35:27Speaker 4

4 o'clock. Just keep it how it is. Okay.

35:31David Karp

Thank you very much. Thank you. You're welcome to stay.

35:33Speaker 4

Thank you so much.

35:35David Karp

Thanks, Ella. Thank you.

35:36Speaker 5

Thank you, Ella.

35:38David Karp

And thank your committee.

35:40Speaker 5

Yeah, I'll let them know everything.

35:41Joanna Katz

How senior are you? It's good. Okay. It's over.

35:58Speaker 5

I like the idea of the bells. Yeah.

36:00Mary Henderson

Give out bells. But I don't think Frank heard that.

36:04Speaker 5

Well, we gave a big budget. We're going to plan next month.

36:09 – 36:26Speaker 2

That kind of stuff can take a while. Okay. But also, yeah. I mean, I'm also ordering. Right now, I'm very tight on space, and I'm ordering stuff for this event, and then we've got another big event at the end of the month. So, you know, at a certain point, it's like I'm tracking too many orders of too many things.

36:26Joanna Katz

And through the share, you can order on it. Just as, like, an example really quickly, you can order –

36:33 – 37:00Speaker 2

lot of 10 bike bells for $12 so like we could get what we can do is I'll make our budget available to PD but they're going to handle the logistics of the event so they're going to do like you know whatever they order they'll order you guys will fund it and I'll promote it but they'll take the lead on that because we you know I've got the snow moon and this and the resource fair we also have to order and plan some stuff which we'll talk about and we have suicide logos on these

37:01Rita Regev Spector

On what? On these bells.

37:02Speaker 2

Again, it's going to be PV, so they may want to put their logo.

37:09 – 37:30David Karp

Yeah, I got one, an easy one. I think I just took a Phillips and screwed it. I didn't have to screw into the handlebar or anything. It was very easy. Okay. Thank you, everybody. That's good. Okay. Six, resource fair and wishing tree.

37:30 – 37:56Speaker 2

Through the chair. So the first thing would just be to talk about the date. I think the 22nd was the original date, but there is a couple conflicts. It's the 5K and the first film screening that day. So we could either do the Sunday after, I think is... March 1st, although I think we just, no, we were going to schedule something we didn't, or the 15th of February, which is President's Weekend. I was going to be away, but I am here in case.

37:56Speaker 5

March 1st is better.

37:57Speaker 2

March 1st, okay.

37:59Speaker 5

Through the chair, we also need more time because once a week I have a notice to send a message in the call, Laurie Da Silva, which is my contact from.

38:07Joanna Katz

Yeah, I love that.

38:08Speaker 5

Yeah, so I'm waiting to hear back.

38:10Joanna Katz

She's busy, they know that.

38:12 – 38:32Speaker 5

No, yes. Every time I call, it's like, she's like, I'm sorry, I'm working later. I'm like, okay, I'll call you next time. So, but she, they just had through the chair, tomorrow I see her at exercise, and she said they just had an expo end of December, so the list should be updated. So I don't know if you want her number. Maybe through an official capacity you contact this lady.

38:32 – 39:04Joanna Katz

So, sorry. Lori Da Silva is at Beach High. She's like the mental health coordinator there now. When my kids were at Beach High, as the parent, I ran the... Mental and physical wellness day expo and so now it's still going on I was one of the ones that started it's basically an all-day thing where they bring it it's similar to what we're doing except it's it's targeted to teenagers and It's it's mental and physical wellness, but they have like all of the different resources So she is a really great resource for that.

39:04 – 39:37Speaker 5

I would love to do that. Yes through the chair we had a death in our community this week someone from growing up here just jumped off the balcony because he just started antidepressants and didn't have the proper that's my opinion obviously it's like what was going on with him oh just discharged no oversight so when you first start those meds there's a lot of bad thoughts suicidal thoughts so it's like So yeah, something like that would really benefit our community, especially in a time like now. But just because you have a pill, you need oversight, you need counseling.

39:37Joanna Katz

She's a great resource. She's very busy, but she can give.

39:43Speaker 5

It's hard to get reach from her, but maybe through an official email. Do you have an email for her as well? We can look it up. Yes, I don't. But I will right now share.

39:53Speaker 2

I think Joanna has it.

39:54Joanna Katz

I think I have it.

39:56David Karp

So, Frank, do you have the list we gave you last month?

39:59Speaker 2

Mm-hmm. Yeah, I haven't started it just because of the date. Obviously, we need the date. Let me just take a quick photo. But now if we can lock in the first, I can start that outreach.

40:09David Karp

The top one is going to be better. I have a moment to talk to Angie so I can see how the set is.

40:16David Karp

So I have a... three emails from Michelle Weinberg.

40:25Joanna Katz

Sorry to hear that.

40:26David Karp

Do I just send them each one for individual ears that way?

40:29Speaker 5

If I go to my last one. I grew up with a German. One of the twins.

40:37Joanna Katz

It's not Audra.

40:39Speaker 5

There's a few Bermans. Yeah, there is a few Bermans.

40:42Joanna Katz

It's true. Audra's the mom that's in the Bermans.

40:46Speaker 5

It might be her name. I'm not sure.

40:48David Karp

Okay, so we went March 1st at the community center table. Do you have the list that we gave you?

40:57Speaker 2

I don't think I have it here with me.

40:59 – 41:12David Karp

Okay. And I think we approved money for the bracelets. And so I'll contact you. Did I have you contact her or did I contact her? Or was I going to contact her?

41:13Speaker 2

I think you were going to because you sent me a follow-up saying that they... That day was bad. Because it's the temple of Beth Shalom, Mitzvah day.

41:22David Karp

Mitzvah day, that's cute. And then Hillary's table, right?

41:30 – 41:41Joanna Katz

Good question. March 1st is a Saturday, isn't it? I think it might be an issue. Wait, wasn't it? No, no, I hope it was a Sunday. I might be looking at the wrong year, sorry.

41:43Speaker 2

Do we have enough people that will man tables?

41:45Speaker 5

I mean, right now we don't have anything, but we can. The resources, in the way that I picture it at least, each of the different

42:11Joanna Katz

Organizations will man their own tables. Right, I know that.

42:15 – 42:29David Karp

But does he have enough to have a table? Enough tables? Like physical tables? No. Did we give you enough community resource people that it'll make it worthwhile rather than just one or two?

42:31Speaker 2

I mean, it depends on who confirms. Right now we have to begin the outreach.

42:39Speaker 5

I could always set myself up at a table. My wife will be at a table.

42:43Joanna Katz

Through the chair, in my experience, we had more people than we could fit. We had 40 tables.

42:50Speaker 5

It depends on how many resources we gave to Frank.

42:56 – 43:07Joanna Katz

Right, but I guess if the eight people he calls all say no, we have another eight. There's a million different scenarios we could do these.

43:07David Karp

So Angie would need to, through Frank, contact us and say, I have zero people that I need more names.

43:14 – 43:26Speaker 5

A great idea is maybe through the chair we could get some sort of bulletin board where people could put their business cards, their local business cards, when they come. As more resources, so people could be like, oh, you're here, you're close. Like nannies.

43:27 – 43:38Mary Henderson

But I live here, I'm local, real estate, whatever.

43:38Speaker 5

More a few gazettes that people could grab.

43:41David Karp

All right, let's let Frank start planning.

43:44David Karp

And calling, emailing. Calling. And then if he's finding a problem, then he and Angie will email us all for more resources.

43:59Speaker 5

You have to have somebody for each age group, like maybe some sort of nanny, elderly, young adult, safety.

44:07 – 44:22Mary Henderson

I don't know if that's the original, if that's what... That was more of a last resort in my head, like if we can't fill up, that could be a possibility. You have somebody? I mean, yeah, my aunt helps out with dogs and elderly people.

44:29 – 44:52Joanna Katz

yeah but two meetings ago the Jewish Family Services through the Debbie through the chair we had for instance Surfside police come every year when I did the expo they brought Mike the dog they walked around they talked to teenagers about how police are they're there to help them not to be so there were so many different we can go other avenues I don't know

44:56David Karp

I'm just concerned because we gave him a list and now we have the date.

45:02Mary Henderson

Let's start there. The fallback is to get more resources if necessary.

45:11 – 45:25Speaker 2

If you have others in mind, I think you can talk to them as well. You have the date, you have the info. And we would give you their email? If you want, yeah. I'm going to tell them the same things, you know, the date, the time.

45:25David Karp

You would record that they're coming so you'd have a master list too.

45:28 – 45:46Speaker 2

Sure, yeah. We want to get confirmation. So next meeting we'll talk about who's confirmed so far. I can also send you email updates, you know, like if everybody's saying no, I'll tell you, hey, you know, we have a problem, we're saying no. But I think we have enough time to think of backups. And the tree is easy, thank goodness.

45:46 – 46:09Speaker 5

Through the chair, I have an outdoor cat now because the Surfside has a whole resource if the PD comes. This one lady that works here, she comes at her off hours to come and take them to get free neutered, clipped. So that's a resource that we have. She's like, I scream at the rooftop but no one hears me. So maybe she could come and tell people that she offers that.

46:09Joanna Katz

I think that's a good idea. There are things within Surfside that we don't even know. are available to us.

46:16Speaker 5

So maybe we, if... We put it in the Gizad a few months back, her service. She took up like a half a page.

46:22 – 46:35Speaker 2

Yeah, I just don't do the Gazette anymore myself. No, but yeah, that's a good example of something that already exists that people don't know about. And PD could be there to talk about it, or this representative.

46:35Speaker 5

We have a lot of straights, so we need to get them caught and clipped.

46:40 – 46:51Joanna Katz

You could tell Walter Javier, who's a Surfside resident, is a fireman. We can have him come and talk about fire stuff if we wanted to. I mean there's a million different...

46:51Speaker 5

Car seat adjusting. I don't know if they do that anymore. I have to learn myself.

46:57David Karp

Okay, so we have a problem with the first batch. Okay, there's a lot of... Okay, so everybody will need to jump in with that. You got it. And then you'll have the wishing tree stuff.

47:08Speaker 2

Yeah, I'll connect with May and we will figure out exactly what we are going to order. Okay.

47:14 – 47:28David Karp

So that's March 1st, 11 to 2. Okay. Yay. Good, good, good. 6C. The apartment. The apartment book. The book. Do you have something on that, Andrea?

47:29Joanna Katz

No. It's pretty good. I just bought it. I haven't started it yet.

47:33Speaker 2

I brought some flyers if you guys want to take some.

47:38Rita Regev Spector

It's a short name.

47:40Speaker 4

I'm going to just take a picture of it. It's very easy. It's structured. I can send you that. It's the same 2B. It's one apartment and different people living there from, I want to say the 1940s through the 2000s.

48:07Rita Regev Spector

What country are you from? Kerala. That's an interesting building.

48:13Speaker 5

There's a lot of young people in there. So many young people. It's gotten so dark.

48:20 – 48:31Joanna Katz

Do we want to do food? Did we talk about that yet? We probably need a budget. I think we did talk about it.

48:31David Karp

Oh wait, I have mine here. We were talking about it.

48:35Mary Henderson

Everybody look at the minutes. Because we would have to be running this one ourselves.

48:42Speaker 2

I mean, I brought like, this is what I brought for now, yeah. I mean, I could make more copies there depending on the time.

48:56Speaker 2

Okay, yeah. Today I'm probably not going to print again unless we get Anna's printer, if we have time.

49:11Joanna Katz

really should have food.

49:13David Karp

Let's look at your minutes from last month.

49:17 – 50:05Speaker 2

Well through the chair just just to recap is not everybody was here so this is one event I'm not going to be at so just know that whatever you guys want to set up you're welcome to do it but you'll have to just coordinate you know if there's a delivery of course you know we can reimburse you or We can figure out how to place that order. The parks team, this is gonna be at the park and I believe it closes at 9 p.m. This is at six o'clock. Probably will run a couple hours at most so there should be enough time. We did say that you guys would set up the room although Initially, there wasn't really going to be much to set up other than, you know, chairs. But, you know, if you want to add food and stuff like that, that'll be a little bit more to set up. So, just for you all to keep in mind because this is not one that I have. Yeah.

50:05Rita Regev Spector

And also, being in the park, there's a parking issue. And a lot of people are driving.

50:11Speaker 4

If I may, sorry. Regarding the food, I think you guys had spoken about including local goods. Yeah.

50:17Mary Henderson

I see it right here. It says about food. Yeah, and we were talking about some cupcakes.

50:23Speaker 4

So no budget was voted on.

50:26 – 50:41Joanna Katz

The hard part for the food is going to be we don't know how many people. There's not an RSVP kind of situation, so it could be four people and it could be 40. I doubt it'll be 40. The parking situation makes it impossible. People can walk.

50:41David Karp

Yeah, and hopefully it's not raining. The cupcakes won't work, I thought.

50:48Rita Regev Spector

Oh, his daughters? Yeah, she just did it for fun. Oh my God, they were amazing.

50:54Speaker 4

Just did it for fun.

50:55David Karp

Because I had put hot water, you know, like tea and cupcakes.

50:59Rita Regev Spector

Yeah, she put it in this beautiful little And so she's sticking to medical school. Okay, so 6 o'clock.

51:09David Karp

So they'll put the chairs up for us, is that right?

51:12Speaker 2

No, you guys were going to put the chairs. They may if they feel up to it, but the motion was that you guys would set up everything.

51:19Joanna Katz

And they have tables there.

51:20Speaker 2

They have tables, yeah. Although if you're going to have the food, I would give them a heads up so I can let them know. But yeah, I think that's upstairs where they have... chairs and tables.

51:31David Karp

There was a lot of chairs in the back.

51:33Speaker 2

I've just never seen that set up.

51:35Joanna Katz

I'm happy to be the point person for the food if somebody else wants to be the point person maybe for beverage so we can split it up a little bit and then

51:46David Karp

Does the Surfside have like hot water urns or anything like that?

51:53Speaker 5

It has a little kitchen upstairs and I think there is a hot water urn. Like an old-fashioned one.

51:58Speaker 2

I don't know if we could use it. You could ask them. I don't know. I haven't done a lot of them.

52:01Rita Regev Spector

Why don't you choose the park that you're using?

52:04David Karp

Because I think they close.

52:05Speaker 2

Because they close at 6 in the winter. They close early. Yeah.

52:09Rita Regev Spector

Because then parking is easier.

52:14Mary Henderson

Last time when I went to the gun safety forum, I parked over at CVS and then just walked. It was a bad idea. That's a good option.

52:23Speaker 5

Yeah, you can walk on the main road and then the sidewalk. So we would introduce, we do all the introductions.

52:37David Karp

Or for this, so we would be running this. Welcome. And then do we do a book discussion after?

52:43 – 53:05Joanna Katz

So what I would, through the chair, what I would recommend is that one of us meets with Anna Menendez before to see how she would like to do it, to see if she... And who she's inviting. Who she's inviting. That's a good point, and also she may have specific questions already that she has.

53:05Speaker 4

One person at a time, sorry. For the record.

53:10David Karp

Gerardo was the, should we ask him?

53:13Joanna Katz

Sure. Want me to text him?

53:15David Karp

Yeah. Immediate feedback. Okay.

53:27 – 53:54Joanna Katz

so what did we want to so and then what happens in a book talk do you like um do you have some questions ready for her or so through the chair my recommendation is that she may have some already that she's because she's maybe done these before and if not i think we can definitely find them online but there's a pretty good chance that she's going to have specific talking points from the book that she would like to.

53:55 – 54:16David Karp

So she could read a little bit first, and then she could talk? And then she picks a passage and reads it. Oh, that would be good. Okay. So we'll start with Commissioner Girardo to be the host. If he can't do it, Joanna, you would be okay with that? Sure. And then we'd learn how to run the next one.

54:16 – 54:34Joanna Katz

How's that? Yep. I can't imagine having a book club without wine. It seems kind of crazy not to not have a wine, but I don't know how the town feels about that. Then we would have to make that bed like 21 years old.

54:34Speaker 2

All of a sudden the book club is like the most popular. 500 people are at the book club. You'll be in charge of the drinks.

54:43Joanna Katz

I'll be in charge of the beverages. It's like the Heineken factory in Amsterdam.

54:48Speaker 2

They call it a book club.

54:50Joanna Katz

Wait, through the chairs. I don't mind getting one. Are we allowed to?

54:53Speaker 2

Let's talk about that next.

54:55Rita Regev Spector

Is there a liability issue?

54:58 – 55:12Speaker 2

I mean, I don't know because we do it at some of our tourism events, but we have contracts. Yeah, but we have contracts and there's like insurance and stuff. So I don't know if there's something this casual can be done. There might be insurance problems.

55:12Speaker 4

Liability stuff.

55:16David Karp

Okay, if you find out it's possible, let us know.

55:19Rita Regev Spector

I'll let you know.

55:20David Karp

Okay, so what kind of food and food would we like first?

55:24 – 55:39Rita Regev Spector

That's a good question. Snap, snap, slip we had with the... Gifted crust or something. The fellow who came in talking about how to talk to your neighbors about politics. We had from the bakery. Oh, that was good. Yeah, I think that's a good idea. From that bakery, that was good.

55:39Speaker 5

Decaf or whatever, and then some baked goods. And it won't be food food. Okay.

55:44Joanna Katz

Actually, if it's going to be kosher, maybe we talk to the Grove. Maybe that's a good event to do.

55:50Rita Regev Spector

Yeah, as soon as I get that letter. Or do we want that new bakery that we got for that?

55:55Joanna Katz

We can do food together.

55:57 – 56:08Mary Henderson

So you two are going to take care of that? Yeah, we'll be the effing bake. Maybe for a beverage we could do some sparkling cider or something. Get in the mood without causing the liability.

56:09Joanna Katz

Give out flasks so people can bring their own.

56:11David Karp

Hot cider. What do you do at Christmas time? They have hot cider.

56:14Speaker 5

We just give everyone coffee mugs and, oh, no, another different thing.

56:22Rita Regev Spector

You handle all the social media?

56:24Speaker 2

Some. I mean, Visit Surfside and The Post for this board mostly.

56:30Rita Regev Spector

Okay. So the market ones are fantastic. The photography is so good. I think it really brings... The photography for the...

56:40 – 57:01Speaker 2

Yeah, like if they, for example, if they donate like a, you know, a cute basket of assortment of, I don't know, pastries or whatever, you know, they could send me a photo and we could post and promote that saying, oh, stop by the CRV book club and taste the delicious. But, you know, we'll cross promote it. If you can, if they agree to that and they send you the photo, we can definitely do that.

57:01Rita Regev Spector

I think that they would really agree to that. So, yeah. Why wouldn't they? Here's my idea. The... All the server-side posts are all still photos. Do we ever do video?

57:12Speaker 2

I mean, it depends on the content because they don't send me much, so it's like... Could we do one with Anna?

57:17 – 57:39Rita Regev Spector

where, like, hi, I'm Anna Melendez. Sure, yeah, of course. If she wanted to, of course. Our very first book club event. This is a book that I wrote, and she can hold it up, and I hope to see you all. But we need some kind of point of contact. A text, you know, like a number where people can text, like, oh, I need to find out more information, or I live in Bay Harbor, am I allowed to come?

57:40Speaker 2

Oh, the town website. I mean, just say, visit the town website. Yeah.

57:44Rita Regev Spector

But if they call the town, nobody's going to know.

57:47 – 57:58Speaker 2

No, no, that information, I mean, this is a small board and a small event, so really the only people that know about it is, like, right here. So it is all on the website, but, yeah, nobody at town hall.

57:58 – 58:10David Karp

And, I mean, I'm always in meetings and all over, so I'm not a good number to... For that author, I, you know... She might also have a list, like you mentioned, of people coming already.

58:10 – 58:23Rita Regev Spector

I mean, if we had a contact, email or a phone... and people got interested, at least we can get an idea. 20 people have called. This is gonna happen. Now we have an idea that we should be ordering

58:24Speaker 5

You can have a scan to RSVP and you just get a count list.

58:28 – 58:48Speaker 2

I mean, I wouldn't recommend, RSVP is just, it's a lot more work, but it's also just more work. I mean, that week I'm slammed because I have snow moon on the 31st and the 1st, so I'm probably going to work like eight days in a row. You know, it's not the week for me to be like replying to these kinds of inquiries because everything can be on the website.

58:49Joanna Katz

Through the chair. We may have, as we said, five people. We may have 40. It'll be a learning. We'll either run out of food or have too much. It's okay.

58:56Speaker 2

But if you have a question for the board, are you guys open to anybody or just Surfside residents? Because this is one where maybe you want to just speak to anybody.

59:04Rita Regev Spector

I think so. I'm sure she's going to bring her family. Maybe start moving in that direction where we partner with Bay Harbor and Bell Harbor because we're Surf Bell Bay. That's my dream.

59:12Speaker 2

But then you have to partner with them, for example, and then Miami Beach you're excluding. So I would just make it open.

59:17Rita Regev Spector

We've always been a family, the three towns, the triangle. Correct, but you might have somebody on the beach who wants to come to this, and then they can't.

59:25Speaker 2

Everybody welcome, so even if you're like, all are welcome.

59:28Rita Regev Spector

We're going to have our walks from the hotels.

59:30Speaker 2

So this is open to anybody? Yeah. And then you'll see, you know, maybe you get too many people, but maybe you don't.

59:37David Karp

Which is a good thing.

59:41 – 1:00:06Speaker 2

with this so far and now just one more thing to add once you do decide you know the kind of food and drink that you want i mean the easiest thing would be say you know we get something from the grove maybe some of it is donated and some of it is paid you know we set it up in advance i can call with the town credit card and have it paid over the phone so that it's You don't have to deal with a reimbursement or anything like that.

1:00:06Joanna Katz

Rita, if you have a contact there, I'm happy to go over there with you and talk to them and see what they'll donate, what we'll buy, come up with an array of snacks.

1:00:16Rita Regev Spector

The date's getting close. That's the thing about get the book now and read it. Yeah, we're super close to the date. Are you going to buy some?

1:00:25David Karp

Excuse me, are you going to buy some, put in the rec center like last time?

1:00:29Speaker 2

No, I mean, nobody gave that direction. I think now it's a little bit tight to try to do that.

1:00:34Joanna Katz

People can download it now. Yeah.

1:00:37Speaker 2

Yeah. Because I think if you start buying every single book for the book club, again, you know, you're setting a precedent that, you know, people should bring their book.

1:00:45David Karp

Was that us last time, or was that the tourist?

1:00:48Speaker 2

No, you guys paid for those books. Yeah, that was us last time.

1:00:53 – 1:01:18David Karp

Okay, so food will be you two. And you'll let me know. And there'll be no other meeting. Just reach out to me. And then, who's the park and rec guy that's stationed over there at the community, at the 96th Street Park? Carlos, small rec. Yeah, Carlos. Okay, maybe I'll ride over and see if he'll put up the chairs for us. Okay.

1:01:20Speaker 5

Which I don't mind to come and help him or help her.

1:01:23 – 1:01:41David Karp

Okay, so my son's getting married the next day. The 7th, but we have the event 6, so I'll be a little... I'll try to help out if I can, but all of you are going to need to pitch in.

1:01:41Speaker 5

I'll tell it to be there at 5.15, 5.30 and just make sure it all looks nice.

1:01:46David Karp

But I'll run over to Carlos and see if he'll help with the chairs and tables. That way it'll be done. I'll go ask him.

1:01:53 – 1:02:13Speaker 5

We also have up there, because I do the Mommy and Me in Music class on the second floor, we have this red and blue cushion so you can make it as big as you want so people can maybe sit on the floor all together. two stacks, so it would be like this room.

1:02:13 – 1:02:32David Karp

I'll go over and take a look. And then... Okay, so everybody hands on. How about meet at five on the... Okay, we can meet at 5. Thursday the 5th. And you two will, can you get the food delivered or you'll need to pick it up? We don't know yet.

1:02:32Joanna Katz

We'll find out when we go over.

1:02:34David Karp

Okay, and then we have to propose a monetary amount. So would someone like to make a motion?

1:02:41Mary Henderson

I'll make a motion to have a food and drink budget of $300. I'll second that motion.

1:02:56David Karp

Can we have an extra amount? Just like one time, Frank had to order extra. Was that you, Frank? We had to order extra for something.

1:03:05Speaker 2

Oh, the palm pie.

1:03:06David Karp

Maybe the pizza, yeah. I think that one. How about make it $500, just in case we have to order more. Remember how we ran out of the pizza product?

1:03:15Speaker 2

Just keep in mind, this is something, if you want to do it every month, just keep in mind, it's going to be $500.

1:03:19David Karp

When do we get our new budget?

1:03:21Speaker 2

I mean, at the end of September. So we'll leave it at $300.

1:03:27Mary Henderson

I think it's fair. I think that should be a lot.

1:03:30Speaker 5

Especially if we're not doing food and we're doing like this most of the time.

1:03:35Speaker 2

That should go a long way. Okay.

1:03:38Rita Regev Spector

And Frankie, did you see the letter, the pitch letter?

1:03:42Speaker 2

I have the version, the first one that was requested, so I don't have the new ones yet because they were just requested, but I will tomorrow.

1:03:49 – 1:04:02Rita Regev Spector

What is this? For to go to the Grove, I'm just trying to think because, I mean, the Anna thing is like a really timely thing. Yeah, so I did the one for the resource there. If I could tomorrow morning before I go to IAC.

1:04:02Speaker 2

Tomorrow morning is the fastest I can have it because right now it's not going to be in time.

1:04:07Rita Regev Spector

Yeah, I'll print it out at home and I'll just run over there.

1:04:10David Karp

Yeah. Let's do a bunch of email blasts each week until it's done.

1:04:15Rita Regev Spector

And look into a meeting with Anna.

1:04:18David Karp

So I'm going to ask Gerardo for that. Did you write him? I did.

1:04:24Joanna Katz

I sent him a text, but he hasn't responded yet.

1:04:27David Karp

You'll take care of that. Sorry.

1:04:34Rita Regev Spector

I need to get going. I know that the... Thank you. We have the lending line of the elderly help. Is that the idea that I have?

1:04:41David Karp

Angie has a report on that. Okay. But we'll be okay. Okay. Thank you very much, Rita. Thank you. Thanks, everybody. Okay.

1:04:50Speaker 4

For the motion, all those in favor say aye. Aye. Any opposed?

1:04:55David Karp

All those in favor say aye. Aye. All those opposed?

1:05:00Speaker 2

Motion passes.

1:05:03Speaker 2

We leave and it's like nothing can be done because we didn't say I. Sorry. I might have that youth council president.

1:05:11David Karp

Who's the president of that youth council? Lucia. I was going to say, obviously Lucia.

1:05:16Joanna Katz

She's the president of the world already.

1:05:21David Karp

She's going to Stanford. She just knew exactly what to say. She's amazing.

1:05:30Speaker 2

one more thing on this book thing.

1:05:31Joanna Katz

She's totally Lindsay. They're like the same person.

1:05:33Speaker 2

Yeah, she was incredible.

1:05:38 – 1:05:56David Karp

I have one more thing on this. I wanted to throw out to you. That Isaac pack. He did that nice. He did a great job. I was wondering if you'd have to contact him. If he would make one for Anna Menendez and we could post it there in advance.

1:05:57Speaker 5

Up to him. It's last minute, right?

1:05:59David Karp

I think we did it last minute, last time.

1:06:02Speaker 5

Yeah? I thought he premeditated it.

1:06:05Speaker 2

I mean, he might have had it envisioned, but I can ask him for sure. And so we'll need a budget.

1:06:12David Karp

It was a $300 sponsorship. Did he use up all the money? He did, yeah. All right, what do you think about that?

1:06:19Joanna Katz

Sure, I mean, if he's willing to do it, it was really impressive.

1:06:22 – 1:06:40David Karp

Would we take the old stuff off? I think it's better... Oh, so you'd want to do it at the community center? I want it here, because this is where... But he would need to put, like, at the 96th Street. That would be one of the conditions, put it at the 96th Street part on one of his decal prints, so they don't get confused, you know what I mean?

1:06:40Speaker 2

So you want to take Bashevisinger and move it to the 96th?

1:06:43David Karp

No, I want to take Bashevis off.

1:06:45Speaker 2

Okay, and then just put Anna there.

1:06:48David Karp

But as part of one of the things he puts up, Oh, yeah, where it is. Right, because if not, they're going to come here.

1:06:58Speaker 2

Yeah, I mean, if he can do it, we'll mention the correct details for the event. Is that okay?

1:07:06David Karp

I think it'd be better rather than, like, I'm here every day and other people are here.

1:07:12 – 1:07:35Joanna Katz

And the people, I think, that go to book talks come to do their... What I would say to the chairs, I know that he's also a busy kid. If he can't do it, maybe we have a small budget of whatever it is to blow up the cover of her thing. And we can probably do this pretty easily. I don't know. King goes and put a big...

1:07:39Speaker 2

We could do an A-frame sign, but they're kind of expensive. But we could do a sign.

1:07:43Joanna Katz

I mean, can we just put it up in the, like, just do the poster? Yeah, just like a poster.

1:07:48David Karp

From the other side. Do we just want to do that instead?

1:07:51Joanna Katz

I think maybe we just do that, just because it's going to be a lot cheaper.

1:07:55Speaker 2

And where do you want that?

1:07:56Joanna Katz

I think maybe, where do we get the most traffic? In the 96th Street?

1:08:00Speaker 2

Maybe print two of them. One at the community center and one at the park.

1:08:04 – 1:08:23Speaker 5

I'll do the chair on that. No, I don't know if we see it here, but we did speak in the past about having bulletin boards on all of our areas in the 96th Street Park here to just post all these stuff. Right, but that same one we don't have anywhere else. Unless you come inside, you don't really see it.

1:08:24David Karp

But that would be another party. Another party, yeah.

1:08:29 – 1:08:52Speaker 2

Yeah, the other one we used to have a public... Who can... Who can do this? Can you do this, Frank? For what, the poster? Yeah. Yeah, I could send you... Yeah, I don't know what it'll cost, but I can come back at the next meeting and have you guys. I don't think we have another meeting before. No, but I mean, whatever meeting is after that, I can just say, oh, it's part of it.

1:08:52David Karp

Would we pick it up at FedEx? Where do you get it at?

1:08:57 – 1:09:19Speaker 2

Probably FastSigns would be one that I could do. Where is that? They have different ones. I think there's one near 78. No, Minuteman Press is another one. Office Depot also. Office Depot, but I think Minuteman Press on 79th, we use them a lot. I think I'll probably send that to them because they're on my way. Do you want to ask where you need to pick it up? I could probably get that for you guys and then coordinate with somebody. Thank you. But that's kind of right by my house. Cool.

1:09:20Joanna Katz

Through the chair, Gerardo said he will be the contact for that, so it's all good.

1:09:24 – 1:09:35David Karp

Okay. Excellent. So do we want to pass a budget for this? Just make two posters? Two posters, yeah. I don't know what they're called. Whatever they are.

1:09:36Speaker 2

They'll be reasonable. So we don't need to approve? Do we just need to approve? I'll bring the amount at the next meeting. Do you need to approve anything or wait until next meeting?

1:09:43Mary Henderson

Just approve the purchase of posters.

1:09:53David Karp

To do a motion or not a motion?

1:09:55Joanna Katz

I don't think we, for like... No, because we can just come back and then when you recap the IM, we'll just approve it.

1:10:01Speaker 2

So Gerardo's done. We just have to read the book.

1:10:05 – 1:10:17David Karp

Okay. Oh, thank you. Thank you. This is sort of a... Okay. 6E. 6E. Beach cleanup with Coastal. Mary?

1:10:17 – 1:10:40Mary Henderson

So unfortunately, we have not been able to get in contact with them at the moment. My mom has a board meeting with them this... Month, so hopefully by next meeting, um, she'll be able to discuss this more with me and potentially she'll come in to discuss it more. Um, so I'll let you guys know next, um, or next meeting if, uh, we've gotten to be able to reach out to them.

1:10:40David Karp

Okay. So I'll put on for next agenda chair.

1:10:43 – 1:11:23Speaker 4

If I may, I do have something from commissioner about this item. Okay. So I'm going to read it into the record. So he said, on 6E, I don't know how far board member Henderson has gotten in her planning with Coastlove, but one idea that could be worth considering for this event is to incorporate removal of invasive plants from the dune, perhaps in coordination with the Surf Rider Foundation or another organization that can advise on the botany part. Right now, parts of the dune are infested with a grass called Durban Crowfoot, Crowfoot? And it might be nice to raise awareness of that issue and to train some residents in how to pull it up and dispose of it.

1:11:23 – 1:11:38Mary Henderson

Yeah, I like that a lot. I'll definitely talk to them about that, too, and see if they... I'm assuming they... I've been to a couple of their events now, and they are very, very knowledgeable in all things marine biology and sand and...

1:11:38David Karp

Okay, so four or five years ago, I saw, like, Miami Dade doing that.

1:11:44David Karp

Like, it was part of, like, the big operation. So I don't know if we could... So just check if there's permission for the town.

1:11:54 – 1:12:05Speaker 5

Through the chair, do we have different events that we have here? Don't we have, like, someone that comes here all the time for beach cleanup with the youth council or something? Uh, well, the tourist board... Like, where's that bucket hat and...

1:12:06 – 1:12:29Speaker 2

I mean, we do two or three plastic fishing events. The next one is in Earth Day, so April 19th. And then he might do something for Snow Moon Soiree. So he might end up doing something on the first, and then we do something in September with him. Okay. And he's doing enough. He's one resource, but we do have several things kind of lined up with him.

1:12:29Speaker 5

With him, okay. But if we don't find anything, I guess it's already working. Yeah.

1:12:37David Karp

All right, six.

1:12:46Speaker 5

I wasn't here last meeting, so I don't know.

1:12:48David Karp

Okay, so did he send you anything on that? Yes.

1:12:50 – 1:13:14Speaker 4

Yes, he did. So, from Commissioner on 6F, I'm sorry not to be there for this, for all of the meeting, but especially for this item, but I'd encourage the board to discuss it anyway if they're so inclined. Helpful information can be found here, and then those are the links that I forwarded to the board earlier today. So if you could just review them maybe for next meeting. Okay.

1:13:14 – 1:13:32David Karp

I'm sort of overwhelmed with everything. That's okay. I'd like to sort of put this on next month after. What was the idea? I just think we're planning so much and we're having, you know. So can I, is it okay to postpone this next time? Yes. That way we'll be able to ask him more pointed questions.

1:13:33Speaker 5

And I'll review the links he sent. Okay.

1:13:35David Karp

Yeah, we'll postpone that too.

1:13:37Speaker 5

Okay. I'm into anything Fidel doing.

1:13:40 – 1:13:51David Karp

Okay. And I'd hate us to go off on the wrong tangent. Okay, 6G, General Lending Library, my name, but...

1:13:54Joanna Katz

Well, I've got some more information on the Library of Things.

1:14:01Speaker 4

I think this was the one for the items. The Library of Things. Not the dog one.

1:14:07 – 1:15:23Joanna Katz

So when I was in Cape Cod, I took some pictures of some of the things they had at their Library of Things. And I was talking to the librarian. She said it is popular. Some things are not popular and some things are. kind of intrigued. She said that the most popular thing is a metal detector. That makes a lot of sense. But some of the things I took pictures of, a KitchenAid mixer, sewing machine, drill and bits, karaoke machine, ice cream maker, food dehydrator, pickleball paddles and balls, pasta maker, folding camping chairs, and they had other things with those, and then the metal chairs. So I think it's not going to be hard for us to put this together. I think the hardest thing for us is the space. So until we know of a good space for it, we're going to have to just keep postponing it. But if anybody in their travels figures out a place in Surfside where this could work, then it won't be a difficult thing to put together.

1:15:23David Karp

So there's nowhere in this building, Angie and Frank, Frank's office?

1:15:28 – 1:15:42Speaker 5

In the park, they have two garage doors in the park. I don't know if one of them is empty. They never opened in the 96th Street Park. They have two garage door things behind the office. Are they empty? I'll ask them.

1:15:42Speaker 2

I did ask them in general if there was any space at the park, and they said no. But I will ask about the garage.

1:15:47David Karp

We need someone assertive to go in there.

1:15:49Speaker 5

Maybe we could clean it up a little bit and make our space. I don't know.

1:15:53 – 1:16:11Joanna Katz

I mean, I think the eventual home for it just makes sense to be in that building, the new building. The new house. You know, I think that that just makes sense to make that sort of a... library things, maybe have a leave-a-book, take-a-book.

1:16:11Speaker 5

When would we ever see if that would be an option?

1:16:14Speaker 4

In a while, though.

1:16:15Mary Henderson

Through the chair.

1:16:17Speaker 4

Yeah, the commissioner, you talked about that he had mentioned having it there, but that the house is not available. Last meeting, he said that.

1:16:26Joanna Katz

I don't see that becoming available anymore.

1:16:28David Karp

I'm going over to Carlos tomorrow, Friday, to see if he'll help with the chairs and tables. I'll ask him to see it.

1:16:37Mary Henderson

Yeah, see if we don't need a ton of space. Especially if we start small, start with five things.

1:16:43Joanna Katz

Well, we need some shelving, right?

1:16:45Speaker 5

We need shelving. One wall of the garage there, they have two.

1:16:49David Karp

You want to call him, or do you mind if I... No, you can... I'll take a look, yeah. We'll post on more discussion until we find a space.

1:17:01David Karp

Okay. Any new business?

1:17:06 – 1:17:28Speaker 5

There was something, it's I guess very popular now, I used to play it as a kid, but now everyone's playing it Mahjong. I wonder if, I know we have a book club where we could do like a game night for like our age group, you know. I love that idea. Not kids, you know, but like more adults. Yeah, and I think that could be really fun and catch on. Very challenging, but like in a peaceful manner.

1:17:28Joanna Katz

That's a great idea. People know how to play and they can do teaching some things. We could bring back, I have like four backgammon sets.

1:17:36Speaker 5

We could put backgammon.

1:17:38Joanna Katz

I love backgammon. That's fun. I love that idea. It's a great idea. Love that.

1:17:46Speaker 5

I'll be there all day. I have a whole thing of these and no one wants to play with these. It's through my family. I like never throw them out. So I have all the games.

1:17:55David Karp

I saw something on Amazon. They're making a consistent looking box. So instead of having all these clue boxes and monopoly, you can put it in and store it on your bookshelf.

1:18:07David Karp

So I'll put this on for next time. So keep thinking. Okay. All right. Any other new business?

1:18:15 – 1:18:26Speaker 5

I don't know. I think we used to have it. Maybe it's through another board, but they just stopped doing it. There used to be yoga classes on the beach. That was once in a pond time. Maybe we could do it.

1:18:26Speaker 2

I mean, I know our farmer's market does yoga on the beach.

1:18:29Speaker 5

Is it open to us? It's open to anybody.

1:18:32 – 1:18:44Speaker 2

Go on their Instagram, the Surfside Farmer's Market, and you'll see the post. I think they tagged the instructor. There might be on their link at the top of the profile, like a registration link to sign up.

1:18:46Speaker 2

I don't know.

1:18:46David Karp

No, no, it was something for Surfside residents, but it was very small.

1:18:50 – 1:19:03Speaker 2

Yeah, I think there was another yoga, like, or moon yoga sometimes. That would be cool. But it was through parks, so I don't know the details. But I know there was some kind of beach yoga. I remember seeing something, and you're like, what are you going to find now?

1:19:03 – 1:19:36Speaker 5

Should we put that on for next month? You're going to take a look? Sure, like moon yoga that you could find on Paola, the instructor for the gymnastics teacher at your show. volunteers if you want to i'm a person you'll call her sure i um tomorrow's thursday do with my kids we're not meeting until february yeah but i would also encourage you because you know you go to community center for classes just to ask the stuff like hey whatever happened to the beach you know because maybe that's something that i know what they're going to respond to me they're going to say no one came so i know power but i also do jujitsu and like

1:19:36 – 1:20:02Speaker 2

defense and they say no one comes so I don't know there's like a lack of communication maybe that's our job to like get the resources there's also a lot of programs so you know not everything it's like the events there's so much that I just it gets a little diluted you know some are more busy than others you gotta have wine you gotta have wine that's the secret sauce it really is okay let me go over for next month the agenda I have um

1:20:05 – 1:21:09David Karp

a review of the March 8th community walk at 9 a.m., so we'll talk about that. Joanna will have a report on the bike safety helmet event. And if I can go, you'll let me know, Angie? Yes. Okay. Recap of the book talk, how that went. The beach cleanup, Barry, so we'll have a report on that. Elderly Health Repair Cafe, Gerardo. Lending library, I'll see if I can talk to Carlos. Are there places like, Sharon, if I can go back to that, like next door, anybody giving away like a metal detector, we want it.

1:21:09Joanna Katz

Right, exactly. Once we determine there's a place to put it, then we can figure out how to source all the things.

1:21:15Speaker 5

Through the chair, someone added me to a chat recently that is here within 3154, and people are just saying, this is for free pickup in Surfside, for free pickup in Bay Harbor. I don't know if any of you are part of that chat.

1:21:25David Karp

That Jewish women chat is incredible.

1:21:27Speaker 5

Oh my gosh. There's a lot of free stuff. There's for sure a few stuff that I saw that would be great. If it was free, I would have picked it up and brought it to our little storage.

1:21:36Joanna Katz

I'm not on it. The Jewish one. I'm not on it. You're hiding.

1:21:42David Karp

I was trying to get rid of my sister-in-law's refrigerator, freezer.

1:21:46Speaker 5

No, stuff like that. People are just giving away stuff all the time.

1:21:48Joanna Katz

I always have stuff to give away.

1:21:50Speaker 5

Right. It's very great.

1:21:51David Karp

All right, so you'll report on that.

1:21:53David Karp

Or no, I'll try to find out.

1:21:55 – 1:22:11Speaker 5

Another option, I don't know, if we need a permit or something, can we get like one of those Home Depot sheds and use the rest of our budget to make a shed on the grass for this lending library? We're not on that level.

1:22:12 – 1:22:27David Karp

And then we'll put it on for Frank to check with. What is that department that you would check with? Parks. Okay, so we'll put that on. And game night, Kayla, if you'll just write down ideas and thoughts and how you envision it.

1:22:28David Karp

And the full moon yoga. Does that mean we go in the evening? Is that why it's called full moon? Yeah.

1:22:34Speaker 5

I guess it would be evening, right? Sunset, sunset, and then at the end of the yoga class, the full moon.

1:22:40 – 1:22:54David Karp

Okay, so envision how you would like to handle it. Anybody else for anything on the agenda? Okay, oh, thank you, everybody. Great. I'm looking forward to all these things. Good job. Good job, everybody.

1:22:54Joanna Katz

Thank you. Okay. I second that.

1:22:58David Karp

All those in favor, say aye. Aye. Opposed? Opposed?
