Yes. Village Council will now hold a public hearing on the fiscal year 2026-2027 budget. A paper copy of the budget is available at the Village Hall at all times, including during business hours in any event. The proposed budget is also available online on our website at all times. Now opening the public hearing to consider the budget and public comments. Council welcomes and encourages the public to speak during the public hearing portion of the agenda. This one specifically covers the upcoming budget under consideration. Those members of the public wishing to speak should wait to be recognized by the Village President. You will be invited up to the podium to enter your name and address into the record. Please limit your comments to three minutes or less. Would anybody like to speak as to the issue of the pending budget?

FIRST OF ALL, I NEED TO ASK YOU A QUESTION BECAUSE I COULD NOT UNDERSTAND. MY NAME IS MOLLY RYSKI. MY ADDRESS IS 18110 168th AVENUE, SPRING LAKE. I AM TECHNICALLY IN THE TOWNSHIP THOUGH, SO I NEED TO UNDERSTAND IF I AM SPEAKING OUT OF TURN AS OPPOSED TO BEING IN THE TOWNSHIP VERSUS THE VILLAGE. SO THAT'S WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO CONFIRM FIRST OF ALL. SO THAT'S WHAT I NEED TO ASK Anybody can show up for sure, but that's what when I was reading when I'm reading all of these things It's hard for me to decipher some of these things sometimes so when I was reading I just want to understand because I With respect, I have jumped through enormous hoops to live here. I wanted to live here in my 20s, and I could not. I could not afford to live on the lake shore. I lived in Grand Rapids. I could not afford to live here in my early 30s, but I still lived in Grand Rapids. And now I live here. I am feeling the pressure every year of my taxes continuing to raise. And the amount that they continue to raise is so tremendous. I cannot believe the amount that they raise every year. And so with respect, I would like to understand what the mill percentage is that you're asking for. And if I'm speaking out of turn because I'm technically in the township, I don't want this to fall on the wrong group of people.

If you don't own property in the village of Spring Lake as opposed to the township, our revenue will not come from you.

You're at the wrong meeting. I say with love in my heart.

No, no, no, no. And that's okay. That's okay because I just wanted to make sure, right? And so that's why I wanted to be totally clear and totally transparent. So that's why I wanted to make sure. But I've had it on my calendar and so... I just wasn't sure, and I should have called to find out whether or not this was the right meeting, but clearly it's the wrong meeting.

I'm so uninvolved in township things, I couldn't even tell you when their budget hearing is. I think it was back in April.

Their budget is due by, it starts April 1, so their budget hearing is likely in March.

Okay, that's fine.

As an FYI, the village has not raised millage for eight years.

And that's great.

And one of the seven actually voted for a decrease in the millage rates at some point.

And I appreciate you all, and I love living here. But at some point, there has to be a give at some point. So I just wanted to understand where the transparency, where it came from.
