Good evening, city of Shaunie. I'm Doug Donahghue, communications director for the city, bringing you the wrap-up of the city council meeting from this Monday, April 13, 2026. Council member Curt Nappen participated remotely. All eight members of the council and Mayor Sandifer were in attendance that way. Students from Shawano Elementary School were on hand to lead the mayor, council, and audience in the pledge of allegiance. Business from the floor lasted from 6:03 to 6:30 this evening. and Mayor Sanifer declared April 20th to 28th as seven days of kindness in the city of Shaune. During the meeting, the council approved five city projects to receive funding through the county assisted road system program, also known as cars. The 5-year list of projects includes Shauny Mission Parkway, Quaver, to the east city limits. The Parkway Flum to Quiver, Woodland Drive, 71st to 83rd Streets, Midland Drive from Eldridge to Lackman, and the Parkway again Lackman to Flum. The city's annual mill and overlay project will include 30 lane miles of mill and overlay, 15,000 linear feet of curb, and 7,000 linear feet of sidewalk repair in the city. The contract with Mac and Annie passed 8 to zero. The council committee featured two major topics. First, the downtown Shauny wayfinding project update. The project's goals include the signage to establish and define the downtown Shauny area, focusing on the core district, create a positive parking experience by directing visitors to public parking lots, and provide an illustrative map to give pedestrians more information. The designs include a variety of signs in the downtown color scheme of teal and orange, directing downtown visitors to parking, landmarks, and important buildings with a coordinated design style. The council looked at the city's budget all funds list. A breakdown of the all funds includes general fund, special revenue funds, special district funds, public safety equipment, public safety sales tax fund, special highway fund, parks and pipes fund, storm water
utility fund, equipment and facility reserve fund, and the debt service fund. The next step in the budget process will be the council's budget retreat on Saturday, April 25th at Fire Station 71 from 9:00 a.m. to 100 p.m. And the council will be back in session that following Monday, April 27th, starting at 6 p.m. in downtown Shaune at city hall.
