Madam Chair, we are ready to begin when you are ready.

I am ready to begin. Council members, are we ready? Yes? Okay. Welcome, everyone. I was just saying to Councilwoman Stroud how fun it is to look out in the chambers and see it full like this. So thank you. Thank you for all of you for being here. And thank you to Chris Edwards and team for organizing this event. And parents, thank you for joining us for tonight's event. And we're excited to have this experience with our Sandy Youth Council and our Sandy Youth Court. Thank you. So exciting. So on behalf of the Sandy City Council and our administration, we'd like to welcome you to tonight's Sandy City meeting. You are the youth council. Sandy City Council meeting with the Sandy Youth Council, the Sandy Youth Court, and parents. We do always start our meetings with a prayer and a pledge, and we actually have volunteers from the body of youth that are assembled tonight. So I'd like to invite Ryan Luters and Kaylee Herman to join us here at the microphones. They will be offering this evening's prayer.

Our dear, kind, and gracious Heavenly Father, we are so grateful for the opportunity to be able to gather together this day to embark on this journey to serve and grow as youth in the Sandy area. We are so grateful for the opportunity to participate and give back to our community. And we pray that we will be blessed with the resources and insight to fulfill that goal the best we can. Heavenly Father, we're grateful for the food we had and for the hands that prepared it, as well as for those that organize and continue to support the Sandy City Youth Program. We say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank you for this beautiful day where we have the opportunity to be sworn in. And we thank you for the opportunity to serve on the youth court where we have the opportunity to help our peers. And we thank you for the food that was prepared for us. And we thank you for the opportunity that we get to meet these great people and serve our Sandy community. Amen.

Thank you both very much. We appreciate that. And now we will have two more youth lead us in the pledge. We will have Kamalyn Hollander from the Sandy Youth Council and Charles Funk from Sandy Youth Court who will lead us in tonight's pledge. Thank you both. Love hearing the chamber echo with these voices saying the Pledge of Allegiance. That was a pretty great moment. Appreciate that. So with that beautiful launch of tonight's evening, I would like to turn the time over to Chris Edwards. Oh, yes. Sorry. I skipped over our introductions. We'll go ahead and introduce ourselves, and then we'll turn the time over to Miss Edwards.

Thank you Madam Chair. I'll begin if you don't mind. My name is Dustin Fratto. I'm with the city council office the council director. There are a couple of other council staff members in the back of the room. Justin Sorensen who's our assistant director and Matt Perry who's the council communications director.

All right. We'll turn the program over to Ms. Chris Edwards.

Thank you, Council Chair Hausman. Council, administration, Judge Farr, and parents, tonight we will be installing the 2627 Sandy Youth Council. With 56 members, this is the largest group we have had since we reactivated the Youth Council five years ago. Every year I add a new element to the Youth Council so it continues to grow and expand. This year I've added a new program called the Sandy Youth Council Mentor Program. The SYC mentors have graduated from the program last May. They are staying on for one more year as a mentor and leader assisting me to facilitate the program. They have been helping all summer with all of our activities, and I'm so excited to have them stay one more year and help us with the Youth Council. So I'd like to introduce them, Araya Oram and Rachel Lowe. I just want to give them a round of applause. Thank you guys for all your help this summer. I look forward to your help all year with the program. Tonight, I am going to turn it over to my mentors here, our Youth Council mentors, and they will conduct the installation.

OK, well, one more thing.

So we're just going to start calling up the Youth Council members. As you come up, I'll just direct you while they're calling your name. And then when everyone's up here, Judge Farr will swear you in.

All right, thank you, council. We are so excited to be here. We have about 16 to 18 youth on our panel this year, which for us is quite an increase. We've had lower numbers, so we're excited to have people here tonight. What a wonderful, wonderful evening. So many incredible youth. Thank you, families. Thank you, mentors. What a great evening. I think it's incredible to have this many youth involved in our city in such important ways. I do also want to say a big thank you to Susan Edwards, who's joined us this evening from Canyon School District. I know her heart grows a little bit watching the youth of Canyon School District involved in so many wonderful ways. So thank you for being here as well. All right, so this concludes our meeting for this evening. I would like to ask youth court members, I think it's your turn for pictures.
