City Council Meetings– San Gabriel City Council - Regular Meeting

Okay, this special meeting is called to order. Today is Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 at 4:45 Well, 4:46 p.m. And clerk, please call the role. Mayor Chan here. Vice Mayor Ding here. Council member Hera Aila present. Council member Maka here. Council member Woo here. All right. We will now have some announcements from our city clerk.

Tonight's meeting is live streamed on the city's online platforms. If you wish to address the city council during tonight's meeting on the item on this agenda, we request that you please complete a speaker card and hand it to the clerk at this time. Uh mayor, we have no speaker cards. Okay. U so that's so no public comment. All right. Next item, please. Resolution number 26-20 authorizing the city manager to sign contracts and necessary agree documents for the LA County Community Impact Arts Grant Program. Community services director Perez will make the staff presentation.

Good evening, mayor and members of the city council. Tonight's item should be brief. Um, so this is requesting a resolution uh to authorize the city manager to sign any documents relating to the LA County Community Impact Arts Grant Program. Adam, don't worry. Uh so staff submitted an initial application to LA County uh department of arts and culture for community impact arts grant program funds. While staff is still waiting information on the funding, LA County has requested that the city provide contract signing authority for all grant documents. Um staff submitted the application uh intending for the funds to be for family performances. um that would be offered to our community. Uh we previously did a series in fall of 2024 with two family performances and those were sponsored by LA Music Center and again in 2025 there was one family performance offered through United Charity Foundation. All of these performances have been wellreceived by the community and provided an affordable opportunity for for families to introduce their children to theater and we would like to continue this um for the Playhouse. when we found out about this funding uh we thought it would be a good opportunity to apply and u though the initial application did not require the naming of a signing authority they have now requested that so we are hoping that is a good sign that we are going to be funded for said uh grant um so staff proposes this that the city manager be be named as the signing authority um with that staff recommends that council adopt resolution 2620 approving the submittal of the application for the LA County Community Impact Arts Grant Program and authorized the city manager

or designate to execute all grant related documents. This concludes my staff report and I'm happy to answer any questions. Okay, thank you.
