good afternoon everyone another nice hot day muggy day thank you sir okay this is the only signed copy i have i'm requesting a wage increase on merit for tishana as she do you need i have one as she is um going to hopefully be appointed when i retire i'm planning on retiring in june of next year so In the next six months, I'm delegating mostly all of the administrative duties to her, showing her how and if she has questions, then we can have her set up towards the first year to do all of it. So I'm requesting that we increase her wages to $20 an hour because I'm going to be in and out. I'm going to be gone quite a bit this month because my son and his family from Malaysia are going to be here. Haven't seen him for two years. And then there's some other things going on later this summer. So I want to give her full responsibilities.

Okay. Like I said, I emailed my list of grievances, but the file was too big, so it wouldn't go through. I'll dolly that over here later and hard copy for you. here i am there you are let's get to it what do we got tyson what do you got for me down there i'm retiring next year you probably already know that did you hear that september 1st 2027 september 1st no she's got she's got bigger plans than hanging out with dad and But yeah, so we were jamming right along. Everything's cooking like usual, plenty of programs. And, you know, we've got those discovery passes that people are real fond of. They get to go to Tanganyika, which is, you know, $100 a pop now for a person to get in there. So if I'm sending, I bought two passes this year. In fact, I did for half the season last year. So if you got 10 people wanting to go, you know, that's $1,000. Check out the passes. So that's been a real big hit. And, um, you know, we've continued to have a strong presence in the school districts and, and supporting that we funded some dyslexia training for three teachers at USD three 82. Um, to plug some gaps there. So now there's, there appears to be continuity from kindergarten through eighth grade and, and the, uh, and the assistance of our dyslexic students. So I'm real proud of that as well. We've had some, uh, some changes to our board with Nick Braden is now the chairman and you all know Vic. I'm sure you do. and uh i'm honored to have him sitting in the chairman's seat at the library because he's uh you know he's an army okay army general and a retired deputy attorney general for the state you certainly know that so we got we got some great leadership at the library and and um just brought shane lunt on two weeks ago so well we're cranking and got some good staff and we're doing doing what we always do you know you do good working now well thank you sir

You two haven't been here long enough to retire then.

It'll be nine years when I leave next year. I appreciate that very much. And one thing I'm really proud of, and it doesn't always land, people sometimes don't get this, but I was given a certain amount of, I had a certain amount of money when I came in there. I'm leaving. the same amount of money right where it was at when I came through the door nine years ago. And I'm proud of that because we've wildly expanded programming. We have spent $2,000 a year and now I don't know if we spend $25,000 a year on programming. It's a crazy amount though. And just what we've done in the expansion and to have that dollar amount be the same with no raises. I haven't ever asked you all for a penny increase nor the city. And so I'm real proud of what we've been able to do there as a team. yeah you've done an excellent job for sure i appreciate you and i have appreciated your support for the last eight years for sure so thank you for that you know you guys are you really voted public hub or something well now in 2022 when the city did their their uh 20-year comprehensive forecast for Pratt County, we were voted the number one cultural asset. Not voted, we weren't voted. The company you hired to do that assessment determined that through their own metrics. And that was really cool. There had been some other things that had come along, but that one really meant a lot. So, and we're glad to be part of that future and continue serving the way we have.

Does he impress you once in a while or does he embarrass you more?

no we're going to go ahead and list it probably next spring and i've already had some people reaching out and kind of poking around and um i think we're i've got somebody right now that i'd really like to see a couple people actually but we'll put it out formally in the spring and um you know hopefully we can fill that position from within pratt county somebody that's already here certainly they'll have to move here if they're not already in pratt county but um but we've got i think we'll have some some good and i'm already starting to downsize some things and put things back because you know i've expanded it so much and i don't think it's fair for the next person to come in and try to walk in my shoes and i want them to to create their own vision and go forward with their own plan so i'm trying to pull everything down more manageable to a more manageable level for the next person and then they can grow it out or grow it in different directions or whatever however they want to so you know because i mean i'll stay i mean we're not selling and we're gonna we're gonna maybe be gone a little bit more we're gonna throw a little bit more but yeah we're not leaving frat county now and my wife's the children's librarian so she'll stay in that capacity for a while until unless the next director has another idea about it, but my idea is she's probably best suited to stay there at least for another year or two to help make that transition smooth.

Yeah. And it's grown tremendously since.

Yeah. Well, I appreciate your support. It meant a lot from day one, from the jump when I first, and nobody on the board now was here then, but it's really meant a lot, both the city and the county to have your support. It's made it real easy for me to get going and hit the ground running when I did come in. So, and thank you for that. I appreciate it very much.

we did have um some additional filings that i'm sure susan will be pushing out here pretty quick for um precinct men and women some township stuff and then we had another commissioner uh district line filing make a motion with to pay the vouchers second they're moving second and pay the vouchers all in favor say aye aye opposed same sign

We don't have a primary on the county side.

Yeah, it's a partisan race. The only reason that the city gets triggered is because it's a nonpartisan race and that they used Home Rule to change their terms to three years instead of four. So we have a city council election every single year. So it's a nonpartisan race in a partisan year. Gotcha.

Right. And then the Secretary of State's office was just calling me. We had a person inquiring about filing as an independent for Commission District 1 as well. What about that process?

I did have a call from Chuck Tammage, excuse me, on mowing the lot on Cleveland and Mound. He said he would still do it if we wanted him to, but I guess it has. I don't know that we've said anything even there about that with unis. Yeah, I don't even know if that's in the uni contract. I don't think it is. Okay.
