Good morning, supervisors. My name is Carol Maher. I live in downtown Des Moines. And I would like to thank the auditor and look forward to your approval of the pay raise of $1 per hour that you're giving election workers. As a long-time election worker, I work precinct over at Plymouth. And I enjoy doing that very much, doing my part for democracy. And I also hope that the Polk County Attorney's Office is ready should the feds ever come calling, looking for our names, addresses, emails, personal information, things like that in there. So thank you for supporting us. And then one final thing. It is Bike Month, and I made these special Bike Month buttons for anyone that would like one. I have them for you on the way out. Thank you. Awesome.
Thanks, Carol.
Good morning, Supervisors. Deidre Degere, ooh, what is my name? Deidre Degere, Des Moines, Iowa, and I'm the President and CEO of Oak Ridge Neighborhood. And I just wanted to give you all a much needed thanks for what is on the agenda today for this energy project with Oak Ridge. Many housing developments built in the 50s and 60s were designed to address an immediate need a housing crisis and affordability. Sustainability unnecessarily was not at the central part of these solutions. What has set Oak Ridge neighborhood apart from the developments like Cabrini Green in Chicago and Pruitt-Igoe in St. Louis is simple. over Oak Ridge still stands and one of the reasons that Oak Ridge still stands is because the community community has been steadfast in supporting Oak Ridge neighborhood over time the other reason why it still stands is our sustainability model workforce training services, our highest rated preschool at Oak Ridge neighborhood, and our youth services. When I think about the impact that we've been able to make in the community, $9 million as a result of placing people in jobs was one of our results last year. We also transitioned eight people into home ownership and 36 folks are still in the pipeline. I say all that to say the sustainability model helps people develop stability and you all supporting the Synergy Project is just that. It's another opportunity for us not only to build housing stock in our community, not only to make it affordable, not only to connect it with a model that works, but it's also helping our economy to thrive. And so I definitely appreciate you all's commitment to affordable housing in our community and being a part of change. The Synergy Project is just that and I'm really grateful for your support.
Thank you, Deidre. Oak Ridge is such an asset to our community. We're grateful for the community being such a strong partner in so many ways supporting our community. Thank you. Permit.
