Kevin Starbuck, we've been tasked with working on your raw water intake pumps. Matthew Young asked me if I would come by and answer any questions you might have and give an update of where we're at. We have the down piping completed. We have all the elbows, 45s. We're waiting on some parts. The pumps have shipped last week. They have not arrived yet. We're waiting on a low voltage transformer for the box and a heater for the electrical side. And the stainless steel swing checks should be in this week. Anything you'd like to know about it?

We would like, we hope late this week we will be installing, at which time you'll have to run off the diesel pump that we've already put in place. If we don't get the components, it'll be sometime next week. Didn't realize there was a shortage of materials, but apparently data centers use up all the aluminum and all the stainless steel in the country, is what I've been told by the suppliers. going yes yeah we actually got some materials that a lot of people couldn't we had to make some trips to Kansas City and walk in and say there it is I would like to have that because they told me they weren't there on the phone but yeah we've got everything gathered up except for those few electrical components and the actual pumps which I was told were shipped last week I had Josh printed you some technical data if you'd like to know anything more about what we're installing. We're changing from a three pump to a two pump system. We're going from 15 to 40 horse pumps. You should be able to...

Still have proper flow to the city with the two?

Yes, one pump will do the job of what two used to do. They can pump 300 foot a head, which is roughly 150 PSI. It's a little less than that, but they will pump 300 gallon a minute, which means we can probably operate on about an 80% load. Should make the pumps last longer, less strain on the hardware. And I hope to keep you up around 250 gallon a minute. We'll have to work with Josh and get your plant up to shape to handle that. But at 250 gallon a minute, you shouldn't have the sediment problems you're having in your raw water line. At 120, which is where you were running, the sediment's dropping out of your raw water. And if we can get that up to about 240, 250, it should carry and come out, end up in your clarifiers, and then they will be pumped into the sludge into the ponds where it should be, not in your lines.

Sounds like it's moving very long, so that's encouraging.

I'm Renee Slinker from Parker, Kansas, and I am the state Daughters of American Revolution Constitution Week Chair. Constitution was adopted, and we're going to have a celebration here in a few days, September 17th. In 1787, so we are celebrating our 239th birthday of the Constitution. In 1955, Daughters of American Revolution presented to Congress a resolution to promote the Constitution. Congress passed it unanimously, and it went in to the President to sign into law. Public Law 915, Constitution Week, which is September 17th to the 23rd. So we do this every year, Daughters of American Revolution. We promote awareness of the Constitution and the study of the Constitution by coming to the council meetings and hopefully that you can post the Constitution proclamation on your walls for the community to view. And then in September, we go to the schools. and present the constitution. So I'm hoping that the mayor, I know the mayor is not here, but that it is signed. And I don't know if you all have already a pocket constitution. And if you want one, I can give you one.

Next thing I have, pump testing for the City Fire Truck has been moved to next Tuesday, and they are pump testing in Prescott at the County Station 960 because of the water situation here in town. They're not. So the truck will be at some point, whether it's myself or one of the other firefighters, we'll take it down there Tuesday morning at some point to get it tested and then we'll have it back in here. um it usually if all of the fluids and everything are checked brian said that the guy says he can probably do one in an hour but if he's got to double check all the fluids it might take an hour and a half to two hours have you talked with brian make sure the city's covered uh yeah i will make sure that um there is somebody up here yes i will talk to sean actually sean is the new fire chief but i will make sure that there is somebody around that that can operate the truck, operate one of the county trucks. Next thing I have is last Friday night the Pleasanton school did a first responder military deal at halftime. We had six city personnel there for representing the, um, department and everybody. We was dressed in our dress blues and trying to make everything look as professional as possible. So we got a lot, we got a lot of compliments. Um, The last thing I have, I got a phone call today from the ISO manager for the state of Kansas. She wanted to do it, she wanted a little clarification on, she had some misunderstandings with some of the other ISO ladies that are doing this. So I talked to her for quite a while. From talking with her, she was asking how many people we had, kind of what some of the improvements were done, things like that. We are at this point going to be about a seven whenever they do the deal in, and that's not official, but that's what she was shooting for was a seven whenever they do the deal in October. So she was going to get back with the other people that we've sent all of our information to, who we've talked to, things like that. Once we get all of that information done, then they will set up a date. One of the ladies emailed me back yesterday that if we couldn't get something done in October, the last date that they was giving us was December 13th for sending our reports in. I know October is a year. They will give us a report of everything that we did great, everything that we can improve on, and from the time that we get that report, we are going to start working. We don't have to wait four years. We're going to start working immediately on getting that number reduced to a smaller number. One of the big things that she said was the water situation that we have. So once some things are figured out there where we can get stuff out of the hydrants and get Josh some better equipment to work with or whatever we've got to do, we're going to continue aiming to bring that number down as low as absolutely possible. The best I can give about the roof is Icon has been down with multiple subcontractors. Their plan is to, the contractor I spoke to, his plan is as they're demolishing it, start putting it up. So when they get half the roof demolished, they start putting it up. It's going to be like a two-day thing. They're going to de-shingle it one day and then the actual taking it off will be the next day.

It says start date September 28th. Is that still the start date?

I think from what I talked to them, it's Anything else? I guess to go along with it, with my report, we did get the positioners and actuators in. They sent me one less positioner and the positioners weren't the correct ones. So I have sent them back. I'll be sending them back tomorrow.

Can you? Okay, I've talked with Jed Killough today, actually, and he's ready to start on our roads to the road. The weather's going to look really nice and that we can actually move forward a lot sooner than we anticipated. However, He wanted to know more about the culverts. I drove around over there in that area and there's two culverts needed replaced. I took Jeremy over there, we looked at him and he agreed on every assessment. So we looked eye to eye on everything that needed to be done over in that area. So I asked him if he'd do the job. He said, yeah, absolutely. So we're looking at, you know, pulling out an old culvert, replacing it with a new one that goes east and west there at miami and cedar and then putting another one north to south that goes across miami street north to south so that way we've got plenty of watershed going down the creek um have you looked at fourth and cedar no fourth and cedar that's we're going to go on the opposite side well i would look at it i'm afraid there might be a scene called that would be over closer to you over closer to fourth street yeah fourth and cedar to go look at it, it wasn't there the other day. So when Jeremy and I went to look at it, it wasn't there.

I showed them this morning, my other location, the blinds for them.

But they have a, he told me about a project exemption certificate that the city can get for cheaper asphalt and cheaper supplies that we can get, and it's just a allows qualifying entities to exempt construction-related materials, labor, and equipment through the state of Kansas. So we have that. And then we just got to approve the financing. I mean, we're at $150,000. We're up to $205,000, $305,000. So once we get approval, he said he would come in with a contract, get it all signed, and be up and running in two, three weeks.

So how much is your bid?

It's $205,305.

Was we waiting for another company? No.

I've already sent out the bid process and we approved it for $150,000.

So I just need a motion to approve this $205,000 to carry on so he can get the process going with the bonding, with the grant, or with the bonding and funding and the whole nine yards is what he's looking for.

So he said, you know, once after that week of them settling, they'd go to town. If anybody would like to see where we're doing this, I'll be glad to show this to you. But the green is actually Ash and Cedar Street that Grant's doing.

And we're waiting on this project to come into that. And there's no new business city attorney to have at any point?

Interesting, everybody was talking about the taxes and whatnot. This is the property tax freeze eligible through Kansas State. If anybody's interested in it, it's a form that you can fill out. It starts out the 1st of January and runs till April. You can fill out this form and they can actually freeze your property taxes at the rate for when you're due. There are some qualifications. following the qualifications, I think it'd be a good thing and good asset for our citizens to have. If anybody wants to see that, I'll be more than glad to let you have it.
