We will uh adjourn the public session and begin the uh regular meeting at 7:30.

Thank you. Just a couple items under the uh mayor's report for today. Uh uh it's been about 10 days, but I wanted to um uh point out that the 13126 uh event that we had uh on January 31st was, I believe, a huge success. I was downtown. I visited some of the uh stores. I know that we had participation from over 45 entities uh businesses, museums, even the university uh participated. So, uh it was wellreceived and uh I'm I'm getting a lot of u positive feedback on that. So, I just wanted to make sure everybody knew that in case you weren't in town for that that that worked out well. Uh I did want to uh thank our sponsors. Uh we had a drone show. I don't know if anybody here saw the drone show, but uh I haven't seen too many drone shows in my life, but I thought that was outstanding. I mean, all the uh the special effects that they had uh highlighting Asiggo's uh uh community. So, I wanted to personally thank uh and publicly thank uh IB IBW local 43, Seammens, CNS Engineers, and Scriba Electric for sponsoring the u the drone show. And I'd also like to commend and thank uh our uh members of the community development office. That's uh Amy, Abby, and Maddie for all the hard work they did uh because it takes a a lot of uh effort to get these types of programs put together. So, they did a wonderful job. Uh item number two, I just want to remind uh the public u and everybody else in the room that the DPW is continuing to clear snow from our city. Um the snow that we encountered about well, it was the first week of February. Um, I believe it was over four feet of snow that we got and uh the streets might be bare, but uh they're continuing to uh uh clear intersections. Uh we have over a 100 miles of about 100 miles of roads in the city. So uh they're doing their best to get to every spot that needs uh attention. So uh if the counselors get any calls, tell them

17:36 – 18:380

we're working on it and uh if there's any uh uh outstanding issues, you can always reach out to the DPW as you know. But uh we're very fortunate that we have such a dedicated staff at DPW doing all this work uh night and day. Uh the third thing I just wanted to point out uh uh I am a member of the 250th um uh commission for the county. Uh we're u planning a celebration for the uh uh 250th uh birthday party for the uh country. So, uh, every month for the past six months, I've been going, uh, to the county building, uh, to meet with the other, uh, members of the committee, and we're getting closer to, um, finalizing all these, uh, different events that are, uh, happen all throughout the county. So, I just want to make people aware that, uh, there is planning going on for a big party on the 4th of July for our our country's 250th birthday. That's the uh, only item that uh, I had under that. So, uh, without further ado, please call resolution 35.

Yeah. I I want to comment that it was a well thoughtout uh concession and I thought that was very positively done and I'm was happy the extra time and attention was given to cleaning up the 19th century language that appears in our law where we referred to as water rents. I know that it might have been viewed to be extraneous, but anytime we can speak in the language of people that we all know and see daily, I think that that's something we should always be looking for. Uh, just a couple of comments real quick. Uh, so I'd like to take a moment to follow up on the recent 13126 day events. First, I want to acknowledge that the celebration was a great example of community spirit and local pride. It was wonderful to see so many residents and organizations come together. I also want to recognize a couple of individuals whom I vetted to the best of my ability connected to the original idea. Point of order. Could I ask speak up so I can Okay.

23:31 – 24:570

Sorry. I also want to recognize a couple of individuals whom I have vetted to the best of my ability connected to the original idea for the 13126 day. The concept was first promoted by community member Kylie Bachelor and it was also supported early on by former mayor John Sullivan. As we continue to celebrate events like this in the future, I think it's important that we make a point of recognizing the residents and community leaders whose ideas help bring these initiatives to life. Giving credit where it's due, it strengthens community trust and reinforces that good ideas can come from anywhere. I also want to raise a public safety concern related to sidewalk conditions. Over the past several weeks, there's been a strong emphasis on reminding property owners to keep sidewalks clear so residents don't have to walk in the street. I fully support that effort. However, on the morning of January 31st, the sidewalks near the county building and the east side area park were not cleared and were difficult for pedestrians to use safely. Given the amount of foot traffic that occurs in that area on weekend mornings, this created a situation where people were forced to into the roadway. I did observe that the sidewalks were cleared later in the day, and I appreciate that response. Moving forward, I'd simply ask that hightraic public areas, particularly those that regularly seek pedestrian activity, be prioritized for early cleaning so that we're applying the same safety standards consistently across the city. Thank you.

24:55 – 26:100

Okay. Uh I I did just want to address one of those points. Uh, councelor, uh, I, uh, as the mayor was, um, several people reached out to me about the 13126, and I know the individual you're talking about and that you're giving all the credit to. Uh, I will honestly tell you that, uh, uh, there were other individuals that came up with the idea. So, I understood that she was upset and and uh she wanted some type of credit, but I felt that I could not give one person credit when there were several people that had an idea similar to that, if not exactly that idea. So, it wouldn't be fair for me to give credit or praise to somebody that it wasn't 100%. Uh I checked all my emails. Matter of fact, I was foiled for my emails for this particular uh uh issue. And there were no emails from this person uh that uh uh that were sent to me for this. So I just want to point out that we have to be very very careful when people are looking for credit uh because I can tell you right now if I had given credit to one person uh three or four other people probably would have spoken up and said no it was me. So, uh, I appreciate, uh, you speaking up for for this person, but, uh, those are the facts, uh, on my end,

26:07 – 26:520

and I've received email confirmation and screenshots from both of those. So, that's fine. I mean, the fact that you're defensive kind of makes me feel like you're hiding something, but that's fine. U,, I'm just I'm just saying what I've received from screenshots and things that I've had as proof. Well, you know, I mean, this is not really a a big deal in my mind. Uh, and I'm not sure why we should be still talking about it, but uh, I'm not defensive. I'm just giving you the facts, uh, as I know them. Uh, if you want to, uh, take a look at the foil request for my emails, you can see that. Uh, so uh, I think with with that said, uh, can I have a, uh, motion to adjurnn. Councelor Plunkett, Councelor uh, Lensac, please call the role. Councelor Fitz Given,

26:520

yes. Councelor Meyer, yes. Councelor Plunkett, yes. Councelor Thompson, yes. Councelor Kennedy. Yes.
