Thank you very much, commissioner Lampkin. And now we'll move on to announcements. Agenda items. Director Ngo, are there any changes to tonight's agenda?
Thank you, Chairman. Yes, there are a couple of changes. We will be continuing the consent calendar as well as item B to the 04/28/2026 planning commission meeting and with that I'll turn it back to you.
Thank you. Do any on to commissioner items. Do any commissioners have a general announcement not relied related to an item on the agenda? Yes, mister chairman. Commissioner Lampkin.
I just want to mention briefly that I took a trip down to the Art District this weekend and happened to notice just coincidentally that our Paul Revere Williams Art Museum which was designed by our art I don't know what to call it. It's the Paul Revere Williams building.
Post office. The post office.
She's former post office, correct? Right. Is now since been turned into an art gallery. This year marks the hundredth year that the building was built. And being a local historic designated landmark, I'd like to entertain at some point in the future a discussion around celebrating that achievement and the fact that the building not only is historic but marks a significant time period and a significant person that has helped to develop not only beautiful buildings in Ontario but throughout California and throughout the country.
Yeah, I think that's a worthy cause and a beautiful building and a landmark as well. So, thank you. Are there any commissioner any other commissioners have any other commissioner items? Okay, seeing none. We'll move on to public comments. This is the time for anyone in the audience to speak on any topic that's not on tonight's Planning Commission agenda. If there's anyone in the audience who wishes to speak on a non agenda item, and I don't see any, so we will move on. As there is no one who wishes to speak, we will now consider the consent calendar. Now because the consent calendar is being continued, we'll just entertain a motion to continue it to the next meeting.
Mr. Chairman.
Commissioner Dedemire.
I move to continue the consent calendar to the April 28.
April 28.
'6.
Okay. We have a motion by Commissioner Diedemeyer.
I second.
Second by Commissioner Lampkin. And Madam Secretary is behind me right now. But she'll call the roll.
Ms. Diedemeyer. Yes. Mr. Hagman.
Yes.
Mr. Lampkin.
Yes.
Ms. Anderson.
Yes. Chairman Ritchie? Yes. It is continued five to zero. Thank you very much. We will now consider the public hearing items. The procedure for the public hearings is as follows. We will first hear a staff report on the matter followed by questions of staff and planning commission. I'll open the hearing for public comments from the public. I'll provide the applicant or their representative three minutes to make a presentation.
After the applicant, I will open the meeting to comments from anyone in the audience who wishes to speak on the matter. Each person will be given three minutes for this purpose. After all the persons have spoken on the matter, the applicant will be given three minutes for the purposes of rebuttal or clarification if necessary. Once all persons have spoken, I will close the public comment portion of the hearing and turn it over to the Planning Commission for discussion and final action. If anyone is agreed by the decision of the commission, an appeal may be filed within ten days with the Ontario Planning Department. The appeal must be in writing. And Director Ngo, let's go with Item B.
Thank you, Chairman. Item B is environmental assessment and development plan review for file number PDV25-seven. A public hearing to consider a development plan to construct two twenty six room hotel totaling approximate 183,609 square feet on 3.41 acres of land located South Of Riverside Drive and East Of Hellman Avenue within the CCS Convention Center Service Commercial Zoning District. Staff has prepared an addendum to the Ontario Regional Sports Complex Environmental Impact Report certified by the City Council on 07/16/2024 and the application is submitted by Ontario Ranch Hotel LLC and as we stated we are continuing this item to the 04/28/2026 Planning Commission hearing.
Okay, thank you very much. So because this agenda item will be continued to the 04/28/2026 Planning Commission. I'll now open the public hearing to the audience and ask if there's anyone who wishes to speak on this item. Seeing none, the public comment period will remain open and I'll ask the commission for a motion to continue file number PDEV 20 five-seven to the 04/28/2026 planning commission meeting.
Mr. Chairman.
Commissioner Anderson, yes.
I'd like to motion file number PDEV 20 Five-seven to be continued to the 04/28/2026 meeting.
Okay. You have a motion by Commissioner Anderson.
I can second that chairman.
And a second by commissioner Hagman. Madam secretary, please call the roll.
Mr. Hagman.
Yes.
Mr. Lamkin.
Yes.
Ms. Anderson.
Yes.
Ms. Dedemar? Yes. Chairman Ritchie?
Yes. It is continued five to zero. Thank you. So file number PDEV 20 five-seven is continued to the 04/28/2026 Planning Commission meeting. And now we'll move on to matters from the Planning and Historic Preservation Commission. Old business reports from subcommittee, the historic preservation did meet. Does anybody from that commission subcommittee want to give a report?
I can give a brief report with the help of staff.
Okay.
Because I don't remember the address of the, so the historic preservation subcommittee did meet. We approved requested addition of an extra room to be added onto a historic structure located at F Street, East F Street in
Somewhere in Ontario. Okay. Yes. Very well.
And the approval was unanimous.
Okay. Thank you. So we'll get the information on that I'm sure. No other subcommittees met. So now on to new business, nominations for Chairperson and Vice Chairperson. This is my last meeting for this term as Chair. So now it's time for the election of a new chairperson. So do I have any nominations? Mr. Chairman. Commissioner Anderson.
I'd like to nominate Commissioner Diedemeyer as chairperson for the following year and Commissioner Gage as vice chairperson.
Okay. Are there any other nominations?
I can second that first nomination, Chairman.
Well, I don't think we have a second. Well, do we have to second the nominations? Yeah. Can I make a nomination? I don't see why it's against the
Yeah, you can make a nomination and then we'll vote. But we should You wanna do it before the because we already have a vote.
Well, we have a nomination. A nomination. Not a vote. Not yet. Well, just as personal nomination, I think moving forward the commission, I think it would be great to have fresh people doing this job. It took me almost thirteen years to get in this spot. But I think, right now is a perfect time for someone like Commissioner Lampkin to step in and be the chairperson. He's brought a lot to these meetings I think. And personally, I'd like to nominate him if it's okay. And I don't see any violations of the rules of order or the bylaws.
I don't think as the chairperson, I think I should be able to make a nomination.
Do we, would we have a second on that?
Can he second for himself? Well, guess then we don't, I presume
I could just express I accept the nomination which would the equivalent of second in the nomination.
Okay. So we'll just take a vote for each one. But
Yeah. So we would take the vote for Commissioner Anderson's for that. And then after that, we'll take the second vote for commissioner Lampkin.
Okay. That's fine. So I guess the first vote would be for the nomination of commissioner Anderson, which would be commissioner Diedemeyer as chair.
So before we did you accept the nomination? I don't recall you accepting the Oh, Nancy. Sorry.
Yes. I accept the nomination. Thank you.
Okay. Okay. Now we can go ahead and move forward. Okay.
So let's take a vote for Commissioner Dietemeyer as chair. And so is it a separate vote for vice chair or is it just?
We'll do a separate vote for vice chair
after. Okay. Those so we'll just do a roll call vote, Madam Secretary.
Ms. Anderson?
Yes.
Ms. Dietmar? Yes. Mr. Hagman? Yes. Mr. Lampkin?
No.
And Mr. Ritchie?
No.
It is nominated or accepted three to two.
Okay. Well, let's move on to Vice Chair.
I think Did you want to go through the formal lawyer?
Well, we already It's three to two, it's going to be two to three. So, I think we already have an idea. So let's move on to Vice Chair. So the nomination was for Commissioner Gage.
And it was seconded by Commissioner Hagman.
Okay. I also seconded. Okay. Alright. So Madam Secretary, please call the roll.
Miss Anderson.
Yes.
Miss Dedemara.
Yes.
Mr. Hagman? Yes. Mr. Lamkin?
No. Mr. Ritchie? No.
He is nominated three to two.
Okay. So we got new people. Thank you very much. So now, we move on. So the new chair is congratulations, commissioner Dedemeyer. And, commissioner Gage is not here, but congratulations to him as vice chair. And now I'd like to say is there any nominations for special recognition? Okay, seeing none. We'll move on to the Director's report and I guess that will be continued as well because we do not have any iPads or packets.
Before we go to that, may I say something? Sure. Which is to thank you Nick very much. You over the last two years you have really grown in the position of chairman and I like the way you run meetings. It's been a pleasure to have you as the chairman and wish you could stay.
Well, thank you. It's been an honor to be a chair. It's definitely a new experience and something I think all the commissioners should have a chance to do because it brings a new perspective to the whole meeting. And I appreciate my time here. Look forward to doing it again if possible. But like I said, I think everybody should have a chance to be chair one time or another because that's how you grow in the position of being a commissioner. Thank you very much. So this is my last meeting as chair for But me. Until next I've enjoyed it. Thank you.
So no monthly activity report that will be continued. I'll still be on the commission, but as we have a new leadership, which is welcome. Anyway, so thank you Director Null and the next Planning and Historic Preservation Commission public hearing is scheduled for 04/28/2026 at 06:30PM. Thank you planning staff. Thank you commissioners. And this public hearing is now adjourned. Good night everyone.

Hi. My name is John Encarnacion. I'm one of the adult services librarians for the Ontario City Library, and I assist with the management and operation of the Lightspeed Makerspace. And one of the things I love about working in the Lightspeed is seeing all the different creative projects that our patrons are working on. And so one of the things I love seeing was we had a family come in, and they were trying to make a little figurine of a character, Sonic the Hedgehog, for their son, and they were trying to find a model for it. And they were able to find one, but I think it was really cool that, you know, this family was making toys for their, you know, for their kid, you know, without having to go to the store or anything like that. The family used our Prusa three d printer to make the Sonic the Hedgehog toy.
All you need is an Ontario City library card to access these resources for free. For more information, please visit our website at donterraca.gov/lightspeed.
Come visit us at Lightspeed and make your next creative project.

It's a breakfast here. The creator of the menu, it's the couple from Georgia, and then they create this menu back in 1997 in Southern style and then all from scratch.
It is a locals place. Anybody that lives in Ontario has probably been here more than a handful of times.
