How is everyone? Okay. I'm seeing yeah. Shakes heads. Thumbs up. Okay. Well, let's call the order then. What is it? 05:30 something.

0:231

Thirty Yeah.

0:252

Take a note. Okay.

0:280

Okay. Role call. I could probably do that off our, little gallery pictures.

0:342

Alright. I'll do it for the formality, but we'll, chair Miller.

0:430

Present.

0:44 – 1:032

Vice chair Hicks. Present. Commissioner Knight Malik. Commissioner Stedman is not present. Gardner, you have your hand raised. Was there something that

1:040

Oh, no. Okay. Not quite sure why my hand's raised or how to unraise it.

1:202

Commissioner Becker is absent. Commissioner Carter?

1:233

Present.

1:252

And commissioner Shepherd is absent. And commissioner Bowman?

1:301

Present.

1:322

Perfect.

1:344

And I'm here too.

1:37 – 1:502

Oh, I I did I think maybe there's a bit of a sound lag. Sorry if it sounded like I didn't call you. It's kinda choppy for me.

1:53 – 2:050

Okay. Excellent. Next item is approval of agenda. We have a fairly short agenda tonight. Any comments or questions from anyone?

2:10 – 2:440

Okay. Hearing none, let's approve this by consent. Approval of the minutes from the August 27 Heritage Commission meeting. I don't have any you. I have no comments. Anyone else have any comments? Okay. Again, hearing no comments. Going once, going twice. Approve this by consensus.

2:482

Right. Noted.

2:510

Alright. Public comment. Do we have ever anybody on here?

2:582

Attendees from the public.

3:040

Well, in that case, we will move to announcements. Have anything, Britney?

3:132

I think a lot of the announcements go hand in hand with the rest of the business items for tonight.

3:182

I'll I'll say it anyway, though. Window workshop on Saturday. Yeah. But we'll talk about that more in a second.

3:25 – 3:440

K. Sounds good. Anyone else have any announcements? Okay. We are already on the business items. Okay. Six a volunteer shifts. Go for it.

3:44 – 4:132

Okay. So we have a couple of upcoming events. So we've got the window workshop. We've got the arts walk craft event for two days and then the Legion Way Tree Memorial Day combination event with the Bighill House Museum Olympi Historical Society. I wanted to make this a business item to make sure that it was up at the forefront.

4:13 – 4:382

I know that there are some folks who were able to and some folks who weren't able to answer the call for shifts earlier. But I guess to start, we've got the window workshop happening, on Saturday. I think at this point, we've got Melissa who is really doing awesome to, like, get to shepherd this forward and

4:400

Thank you, Melissa.

4:41 – 4:562

Yeah. Thank you, Melissa. I think it's gonna be really awesome based on all of the stuff that we've been talking about with Dave. Did you have any comments or things that you wanted to bring up to the group for that one, Melissa?

5:00 – 5:344

So so right now, it's just just me, and my husband's gonna help me too. But we have I think we have 20 people reserved so far. And I don't think we're gonna we're not gonna do anything too elaborate for a kids craft for that event because it doesn't look like we'll have a ton of kids anyhow. So we're just gonna do some coloring pages, just in case there are some kids that come. And so it's I think it's pretty simple.

5:37 – 5:484

If anybody feels like they wanna come and help and make sure things are moving smoothly, Any help or and representation would be grateful.

5:52 – 6:080

Yeah. Absolutely. I have a potential conflict on Saturday, although that conflict might fall through. If it does, I'd love to come. So I'll let you know. Not quite sure what my status is yet.

6:09 – 6:234

Yeah. It should be interesting. I think it'll be, I think we're gonna have it outside. I have to it looks like it's gonna be nice out. It's supposed to be 70 and overcast, so that should be nice. So, yeah, it's kind of exciting.

6:250

Do you need anything? Any, like, physical support stuff? Or I don't exactly know what the logistics are. So

6:36 – 6:594

I don't think so. Dave has volunteers on his end that are gonna do most of the moving of bits that they're bringing. I think our our main task is gonna be keeping everything on schedule to keep the budget in line and just enjoying the day, I think.

7:010

Sounds good.

7:04 – 7:482

I'd also I mean, I know that if folks are free, they would be there. But even as attendees, I think this workshop would be great and very beneficial for anyone who is able to join. As commissioners, I'm sure that people who know this fact about you might ask you questions or maybe even resources on what's out there for them. And so if you've got time to stop by, I also think it'd be really awesome for you to, I guess, experience a little bit of the community aspect of subject matter experts. I know that there's going to be the folks who are leading the workshop, but there will also be some industry folks.

7:48 – 8:152

I did invite all of the previous contractors that we've done design reviews with. There's a lot of folks who've done window updates in the past while, and, actually, I did see that one of them did register it, at least one of them. So it'll be a, I think a really interesting conversation. So highly encourage it. And I think they're recording it. So if not, we can also try to get the recording out.

8:16 – 8:500

One of the reasons I'm kind of excited about it too is that for those of you that are on the design review committee, you know, the the question of windows and what to do with them comes up all the time. And, you know, it's it's one thing for us to say, oh, yeah. With Windows, you should definitely restore those and just kinda make that a blanket statement. But I think us getting more educated about what that really means is gonna be really helpful, I think, in the field when we're doing our reviews. So I think that that is one thing I'm I'm excited about.

8:524

Yeah. And it's also kinda cool because Dave is is he's been in the area so long, and he's so knowledgeable in the field, not just with wood windows, but woodworking in general. So

9:03 – 9:204

He's definitely somebody that we could partner with in the future for either a similar workshop or additional workshops based on his experience. So I think it's good to be supportive of him and and make sure that it's a good experience for him too.

9:210

Appreciate it. Well, cool. Well, thanks again for all your work on setting this up. I think it's gonna be a fantastic event.

9:31 – 10:082

Yeah. Thank you very much, Melissa. I think that having this first one done will also be a great example for what we can do with future workshops. I know that in this sort of planning phase, the Bigelow House Museum and Swan Town Inn, which are both also historic properties, were interested in some sort of a collaboration in the future. So maybe that's opportunity to see what cyclical maintenance they might be trying to figure out and coincide some kind of a public educational programming around that too.

10:08 – 10:342

So, yeah, there's there is interest, and I think this was definitely a a good learning experience for how to set something like this up. I'm gonna share the sponsorship spreadsheet that I have. Give me a second. Okay. Let me know when it's up.

10:380

There you go.

10:39 – 10:562

Yep. Okay. So we've got the window workshop. Melissa is gonna be awesome and work with the EcoWoodWorks team to kinda set and tear set up and tear down. But for the next, we've got ArcBlock.

10:57 – 11:372

I know that there are some folks who can and can't make it, and we've got the specific time slots broken down here. It seems like folks are more available on Friday than Saturday. I will also note that I personally would not be available to be here for the second half, but I'd be there for the beginnings of setup. And so I'm wondering, does the group have capacity to do both days, or do you want to see if we can do Friday and not Saturday and sort of condense so that we are, maximizing but still present?

11:400

That's so far. I

11:41 – 11:545

haven't signed up for any daytimes either, but I'm available all day Saturday, and I can do Friday as well. So I kind of just blocked my calendar for Friday and Saturday, so I'm available for both days, whatever's needed. So I was already kinda planning to be there for Saturday. So

11:562

Okay. Will you be recovered by then? I don't want this to set you back if you're, like, almost on the man, but then you're thinking about

12:055

I'm hoping I will be. The the medicine's working well. So, Garner, I have pneumonia. So we're just

12:113

Yeah. On the day

12:11 – 12:265

one that's healing from that. So Yeah. I'm I'm gonna hopefully be ready for that because, man, the center's kicking off and everything else is season two. So my schedule is packed, and I just need to get better right now. So but

12:292

Well, I got your name down. If you want to have something on the Friday. Yeah.

12:38 – 12:495

I can be there for the teardown too. Maybe at 06:30 with Garner too, but I also wanna leave it open for other people if they wanna be there. But I can help teardown for sure.

12:500

What what do we need teardown on Friday night?

12:572

I think last time, it was less tear down and more

13:004

Just putting away the stuff that could walk away with the mirror in between.

13:073

Are we are we

13:080

doing the same thing, Melissa, or is it No.

13:114

We're gonna make it. We're gonna make Oh. Accounts because they're really easy, and I don't have to do a lot of prep work for them.

13:210

Okay. So it should be a little easier to secure that stuff then.

13:26 – 13:394

It's literally stapled on the inside so that the pokey parts don't touch anybody's head. And there's a little piece of elastic to make it fit.

13:410

Very nice.

13:424

I did a more elaborate one, but I think it's just too much, and it adds glue into the mix. But it does have some, like, other stuff on it.

13:520

You know the kids are gonna wanna do that. Right?

13:55 – 14:134

Well, yeah. I mean, I have the stuff for the for the gems, and the the regular old glue seems like it worked fine on them. It didn't work on the pom poms, but that's fine. This one's just kinda huge. But this one was really easy. This one took, like, three minutes.

14:17 – 14:312

Alright. With the fall leave theme, we'll Yeah. I'm working on a little handout for cyclical maintenance as far as cleaning your gutters so we can tie it back to heritage and historic homes. So it'll be pretty cute.

14:320

Michael just chatted a nice little tagline for us.

14:40 – 14:524

I think it'll be fun to see all the different kids and the as they're walking by with the crowns, you know, just like, hey. They came and saw us, and they don't have to carry this. It's on their head.

14:550

So Michael chatted, fall in love with the Heritage Commission.

15:022

Very cute. I took a note.

15:03 – 15:175

We had some good leaf puns going the other day too to tie it into the Heritage Commission as well. So we're having fun with puns and other lines. So but it'll be a great craft project for everybody. I'm just tying it into who we are. So Awesome.

15:19 – 15:364

Yeah. I'm gonna order some more lee I'm gonna order leaves from Amazon because they're so much cheaper and just see. And then I might look at dollar Dollar Tree too. I know sometimes they have false stuff. So I'll get some more leaves aside from the ones I got. But I think it'd be fun. It's easy.

15:38 – 15:490

Yeah. Okay. Well, the spreadsheet's still open. So if anyone else thinks they can squeeze a shift into their schedule, feel free to jump on there and add it, or if you know now. But

15:51 – 16:062

And we've also got the last one, the Veterans Day event. I know that Gary had sent an email that he was interested in attending. And then Eleanor and Garner, I think you both had sent me an email that said, oh, yeah. Maybe, possibly. It depends on some

16:060

of those stuff. I needed to check my schedule on that. Keep talking. I'll do that. And

16:12 – 16:412

so this one, I think if we have enough people to physically be at a station, we have handouts, and we can, you know, set something up that's in theme with the Legion Way trees. It'll be indoors at Madison, and then I believe that'll be a walk from Madison down Legion Way to the armory where they'll look at the interpretive sign. I see Garner says no.

16:410

Kicking my head. I thought I had yeah. Okay. Unfortunately, you have to take me off there.

16:48 – 17:232

Okay. And so if anyone's interested in this one, let me know sooner than later so we can confirm with the historical society that we do want a booth. Eleanor, if you're the only person that's interested in it, I think it would also be helpful for me to know if you're okay being mostly alone. I I'm in town on the eighth, so I would be able to help. But if we don't want to commit to it because we know that there aren't going to be enough folks at the booth I don't think Gary was, committing to being at the booth.

17:23 – 17:382

I think he wanted to be at the event in general because it it does he he's got a lot of ties to the themes. But, yeah, so I guess I think we would wanna have maybe another person who was committed to doing it before we sign up.

17:384

I can commit to doing it. I I didn't realize it was for the trees too.

17:43 – 17:592

Oh, nice. Okay. And then we oh, we've got the the leaves. That's already that's perfect. And, Eleanor, did you have something that you wanted to add? Yep. Just whatever

17:596

works. Yeah. If we end up just kind of piggybacking on one of the other booths, then that's fine too.

18:094

Do you happen to have the hours for that event?

18:14 – 18:312

It's different in a couple of different published, like, flyers that I've seen drafts of or unpublished flyers that I've seen drafts of. But let me just quickly see what I have as the latest draft.

18:31 – 18:465

And that's an event the public is invited to? Or Yes. Then it might be good to have one of those flyers when they're finished drafting to have an arts walk because we can advertise it at ArtsWalk too. Mhmm.

18:470

Good point.

18:512

That's a good idea.

19:004

I think I should just always wear this hat. I kinda want

19:090

It is fantastic. Very becoming.

19:115

Yes. What you said, Garner.

19:202

K. I'm so sorry. Give me another second, and there's a lot of emails about this that aren't related to the flyers.

19:304

Yeah. If I just have a ballpark, that way I don't accidentally put something on top of it.

19:38 – 20:212

Yeah. Okay. It says two to 4PM. I am not sure if it'll be an hour earlier or an hour later, but I think it's meant for the afternoon. But the earliest it would be one, and the latest would be at five. So between those hours. Between lunch and dinner. How about that? Okay. So I think that's maybe as far as we're gonna get with the shift.

20:21 – 20:402

Thank you all for signing up for things and chatting about it. And if there's any questions that you have or ways that you want to support the events that might not be physically showing up but, like, doing something, let me know, and I can see if there's ways to plug people in. But oh, yeah. Michael?

20:40 – 21:171

We had talked I can't remember if this was a as a big group or just the more committee, but about contributing our $25 if we had signed up for that into a pot that can support, the materials that Melissa is purchasing or, anybody is purchasing. So I wonder if there's a mechanism to do that. If, Melissa, you have a Venmo or or any other ideas for how to get you some money to support your purchasing of all these materials.

21:214

I don't personally use it, but my husband has it. So but, yeah, thank you for considering.

21:29 – 21:401

Yeah. If you if you know it and comfortable putting it in the chat, you can do that, or you can send me an email or send it to Britney, and maybe Britney can send it out.

21:410

That's a great idea.

21:424

I'll do that. I'll send it to Britney when when I know

21:443

what it is because I have no idea.

21:49 – 22:262

Thank you for bringing that up, Michael. I think, as a commissioner led initiative, that's very wholesome and nice that y'all are banding together to donate to get these events going. Not on the business item, but I feel like this is a very casual meeting right now. We did have a, look at the city's budget moving into next year, and it's not looking as good as it it last year was kinda tough. We kinda felt like it was getting a little better, and I think next or this year is also getting kinda tough.

22:272

So I don't think, like, we've sort of been able to spend a little bit of money here and there, but I think that's going to probably actually stop soon. More

22:372

come when it's available, but budget is a concern more so right now. Yeah.

22:450

Okay. Well, thanks for that update. Discouraging, but thanks.

22:49 – 23:072

I know. I I think we were all in we we learned about this at a staff meeting recently, and so it's all new. So I don't have any details or information that's helpful, but just it's it's up again. Yeah. October's budget time.

23:130

Anything else on the volunteer shifts?

23:192

I think that's all for the volunteer shifts. K.

23:280

Next was oh, go ahead.

23:304

Sorry. I was just gonna ask, are we still planning on having the retreat in December?

23:375

Great segue. That's the next agenda.

23:41 – 23:570

Good segue. Okay. Yeah. Let's move. I I believe we are unless you guys have had conversations since I've been away for two weeks. But

24:01 – 24:242

I don't think anything's been decided, but I did want to also bring up I think our bylaws do say October, but then we closed December last time. December seemed like a good spot for us to have enough time to discuss, get a work plan drafted, and then have it actually get reviewed and submitted on time.

24:240

Right.

24:262

Yeah. So that's, I guess, the staff consideration for you, but I'll let you decide.

24:32 – 24:520

Okay. Well and part of it too is just making sure everyone's schedules are available for that. I know for me, it would have to be early December, probably for most people. I don't We we wanna talk about a date to schedule on the calendar.

24:52 – 25:054

The holiday open house is also on December 14, so it would have to be I think probably a week. Do we have it on a weekend last we did on a Saturday.

25:084

So December 6.

25:122

I will be unavailable on December 6.

25:19 – 25:420

Check my So I am leaving on the thirteenth. I won't be available after that. Maybe we can't

25:423

do it on the weekend. Maybe we need to do it.

25:45 – 25:565

Maybe there's potential for doing a longer meeting on a daytime, potentially starting, like, at four, like, four to eight or something. Yeah. Leading into the weekend or something.

25:590

Yeah. That might make the most sense, honestly.

26:02 – 26:172

Yeah. Is everyone does everyone here have a flexible enough work schedule that it could be? Like, I guess, maybe if we start at three or four and then just have an evening, we'll have a dinner at it.

26:176

Schedule, like, this far out. Yeah. No problem.

26:213

Yeah. I think that's fine.

26:240

How about how's the tenth for everybody on a Wednesday?

26:303

Can I go make that work?

26:34 – 26:461

I can't do the tenth time up in Anacortes that day. But I could do the previous The third? The third.

26:464

Yeah. I could do the third.

26:490

And out of

26:501

town Wait. Sorry. I can't do the third. My fault. My fault.

26:550

So I'm to, though.

26:57 – 27:172

I'm saying up until the fifth. So I think if we want to have me present, that first week is unavailable, which is if the sixth is the only day that works, I'm worried I will be asleep because it will be a totally different time zone, and I don't want to Mhmm. Set us up to not have a good retreat.

27:170

You don't wanna be a zombie?

27:194

What about, like, a Thursday, like, December 11?

27:240

Yeah. I think maybe we look at a different day that week.

27:276

And Sunday is not an option. So

27:314

I'm fine with Sunday, the seventh.

27:370

I'm okay with Sunday.

27:403

I think that works for me.

27:430

Anybody object to a Sunday?

27:46 – 28:302

I would prefer a Thursday night over the seventh Sunday, but we can do our best and I can actually, the fifth is a if we do that on the seventh, there won't be a workday leading up to it. So I would really heavily be relying on you guys to put it all together, and I would I'm leaving on the November 21, so we need to, like, really preplan a lot of it if the scheduling works out that way, but you feel really committed to having a committee work together.

28:300

How's the how's the eleventh for everybody? Anybody have a Yeah.

28:354

We're all like, no. We don't that doesn't sound how about the eleventh?

28:393

I think the eleventh works for me.

28:425

Eleventh would be better for me as well. Eleanor, how are you feeling?

28:476

It's good right now, but I foresee it not being good. But I think I'll just have to figure that out as we get closer. Right now, it's okay.

28:58 – 29:140

Okay. Well, let's let's put that on the calendar. And then if anybody and Eleanor or anybody else has something pop up, we can discuss it. But sounds like that's probably the best option right now. Would you like

29:142

to do it in November or January, like, a month before or a month after?

29:216

No. December probably is the best for me.

29:234

January would be better for me than November. But

29:270

Does January give us enough time to get everything together for you, Britney, for meeting the city schedule?

29:35 – 29:462

So last cycle, we had a work plan. I presented it to you all. There were some corrections, so I made those corrections and then represented it to you all. Mhmm.

29:47 – 29:582

took two meetings. Right. We really nail it down at the retreat and we do it in one meeting, it could be possible.

29:590

So is it due in January?

30:022

It's due in March.

30:04 – 30:150

Oh, set it to March. Okay. So it still goes this February to make any last minute things. Right?

30:174

Yeah. I have literally nothing in January except for my husband's twenty ninth anniversary at the bank. That's it.

30:27 – 30:455

And we may or if we don't do the retreat in December, we may or may not have a meeting in December just because of the holidays and where our meeting date falls to. So our meeting in December was off in the retreat, then we could come back in January, review, edit. That wasn't so hard to do, but I'm good for December or January too. So

30:470

So for me, the first two Saturdays are out for me in January.

30:546

Yeah. January is pretty rough for me.

30:59 – 31:100

I don't know. I'm kinda thinking at this point we stick with the eleventh unless the whole thing blows up with a lot of people having conflicts, but it's gonna be really tough to find a perfect day.

31:102

Yeah. I'll it early helps. Knowing the date this early would help. So Okay.

31:21 – 31:412

I'll send it out, and I think who's missing? Gary, Steven, and Mark. So I'll just check-in with them to say this is the date we chose. Any unavoidable scheduling conflicts?

31:420

Okay. So we're thinking start at 04:00 on December 11. Is that cool with everybody?

31:54 – 32:072

We could we start a little earlier? Could we start at three 03:30, three, one three? Because I think if we are able to shift it a little earlier, we won't be out as late and have such a long day. But

32:090

Works for me. It just depends on people's work schedules.

32:135

I'm okay with three. My work schedule is pretty flexible. So

32:173

I think I could probably make that work.

32:204

That's fine.

32:210

Maybe Okay. Who doesn't wanna get out of work early in December? Right?

32:281

You'll be almost sunset by then anyway. Yeah.

32:312

No. No. Okay.

32:340

03:00 December 11. Sounds great.

32:412

Do we wanna do a little potluck dinner?

32:480

Early dinner? Yes.

32:512

Okay. Yeah.

32:52 – 33:050

Sounds good. That sounds fun. Do we wanna do a sign up or just free for all?

33:052

Copy what we did last time, if that's okay. Did that work for everyone? Just tap the list. You can see what people are bringing and then

33:110

I think that worked great last time.

33:150

If you don't mind. Yeah.

33:182

Gotcha.

33:194

Yeah. I have so many things going on, but before then that I'm like, I can't tell you what I'm gonna bring. I have no idea.

33:270

That surprises.

33:32 – 34:012

And then the November meeting also needs to get either rescheduled or I don't know. There's a person who submitted a tax valuation application. They're due in October, but they only submitted half of it. They submitted with the county, but they didn't submit with us. I haven't been able to reach them to confirm.

34:04 – 34:182

If they do end up having everything and it was a mistake and they just needed to press go on the portal, I think the committee would or the commission would need to meet once before the end of the year to take a look at it.

34:190

So we could do that at the retreat. That wouldn't be a problem. Well, assuming we have a quorum, which we should. So

34:28 – 34:445

Oh, we could do that November meeting if we did it the week before on the Wednesday, do the third Wednesday instead of the fourth. Would that work for everybody in just a simple push it back one week? We could do a quick November meeting, finalize retreat details, do the approval on that if we need to.

34:454

Yeah. That works for me.

34:476

What was the date again? Sorry.

34:485

Oh, yeah. Because Britney's out.

34:510

I mean, the the nineteenth would either twelfth or the nineteenth would nineteenth's getting close to when you leave, Britney. I don't know if that's too close. But

35:012

I don't think that would be feasible for me.

35:09 – 35:230

So it would be that well, I've yeah. Be the twelfth. That'd be only one well, I guess it'd be, yeah, it'd be three weeks after the October meeting. So that makes sense.

35:283

Should we go for the twelfth?

35:300

Does it work for everybody?

35:323

That sounds good.

35:330

Yep. Yes. K. Twelfth, it is.

35:402

Noted. And if there ends up not being a business item, then it might be canceled anyway for lack of business. So

35:48 – 36:020

Yeah. Either that or if we do need to talk about the retreat, we could potentially do that. So why don't we put it on there? If we absolutely don't need it, then we won't meet. But don't necessarily wanna meet just to meet, but let's see how it goes.

36:042

I mean, I always enjoy meeting you folks, so I'll I'll be at City Hall on that day. I'll be there.

36:100

I'll be there too.

36:162

K. Let's see. Then the next portion of this was also oh, we've got the scheduling done.

36:25 – 36:365

Quick question on the scheduling too. So the retreat in December would be, in place of our standard scheduled fourth week because of the holiday. So the only time we meet in December is on December 11 for their treat. Correct?

36:370

Correct.

36:385

Cool. Just wanna make sure everybody we're all on the same page. And thank you, everybody, for being so agreeable. That was actually really easy with logged over schedules. So thank you.

36:480

Right. Well, technically, if we met on December at a regular time, it would be Christmas Eve. That might be a tough one to pull off too. So

36:565

Exactly. That's why we normally do the retreat in there too. So I just wanted to clarify for everybody. You can take that one off.

37:02 – 37:140

Yeah. Appreciate that, Stacy. Okay. Anything else, Britney, on housekeeping before we go to reports?

37:142

The election is the last portion of Oh. House

37:180

Yes. Thank you. I didn't expand it.

37:242

Oh, yeah. Did you wanna expand on that?

37:260

No. I I was just saying I didn't expand the topic, so I didn't I actually have the list of everything that was in your housekeeping.

37:33 – 38:182

Yeah. No worries. So I guess maybe this is something that we're going to be discussing at the retreat and then having a formal vote on, but it's been a whole year since we've last looked at who is on the I guess, we'll call it the executive committee, really just chair and vice chair, and then all of the different committees of the more committee, heritage review committee, and POG Committee. So how do we all feel about did is that something you'd like to have as part of the retreat to sort of look at as a group, or did you wanna have an election in January?

38:22 – 38:340

Do you wanna wait and see what the retreat agenda looks like? I'm all for doing it at the retreat as long as we have time.

38:35 – 39:015

Mhmm. And we could potentially do some prep work too at the October, November one too if people have questions about what those roles entail and just thinking about what our committees are too moving into the retreat, almost like some homework or just some things to think about as we move forward. So unless someone's ready to go right now with one of the positions, but we're always happy to have that discussion and questions so we got some time for prep work and stuff before then.

39:01 – 39:240

That sounds good. So why don't everyone think about it between now and October, recognizing we've got both committees, not only the leadership of the committees, but just what committees you want to commit to in the upcoming year as well as the officers. So start thinking about that, and I guess we'll pick it up next month.

39:28 – 39:432

Does anyone need a refresher on any any of the structure topics that people work on? Like, would it be helpful for me to send out some sort of a recap of the committees, or do you all still have the info from last year?

39:46 – 39:580

It couldn't hurt. And I don't know. I I'm assuming does the one from last year need any updating based on the work plan, or was that updated after the work plan was

39:586

finalized last year?

40:00 – 40:162

Sure. Good point. I will revisit that. So I'll have that for you to look at in the October or before the October meeting so that we can kinda be thinking about what that looks like.

40:17 – 40:530

Okay. That sounds good. I mean, the work plan's always a good, really high level overview. But, yeah, I think the the committee responsibilities document, whatever that thing was called, would be great to to get out. Hey. Fantastic. Okay. That was the last item on housekeeping. Right? Yes. Okay. Cool. Reports. Marketing and outreach. Should we start there?

40:55 – 41:274

I think we we gave most of our report. We've got the Art Spot coming up, and then we have the Windows workshop. I was curious if Michael and Stacy and Brittany would like to go ahead and since we're all here and looking at our calendars to schedule something for October to start thinking about the retreat as far as activities and venue and that kind of stuff. Like, the October might be good.

41:28 – 41:482

I actually think that the POG committee is the committee that technically helps plan the retreat. Mhmm. Because I think that the more committee is the outreach, and then the pub committee is the internal. Does that sound about right? Or, like I guess, Bill, do you wanna join in on this planning meeting?

41:483

Sure. I'd be happy to. Okay.

41:55 – 42:075

And now it can be the difficult one, but October around the fifteenth is when I'm out of state. So but I could jump on a Zoom if needed, but I'd love to do it in person with y'all too. So

42:093

I probably have to do it virtually just because of work. But if it's, in an afternoon or something, I can probably make it work either way.

42:215

And while I'm on the more committee, if we have Bill stepping into, then maybe you don't need me as much. So

42:294

I mean, I'm not on the pod committee either, so maybe you don't need me.

42:34 – 42:512

I need somebody. I think maybe rather than deciding right now, I I'll send something out, but having some general time frames that work would be helpful so we can at least say these work.

42:510

There's no reason why it couldn't be a joint committee planning session too.

42:57 – 43:154

Voice of reason. Yeah. I'm I'm pretty open. I'm pretty open. So whatever we come up with, I'll just make sure I put it on the calendar so I don't forget.

43:18 – 43:313

I can do most times in October except the October. So whatever works for other folks.

43:374

I just need a little pause on commission work after the Arts Walk. Just like, if I could have a couple of weeks to not do stuff.

43:46 – 44:065

Which is another good reason to maybe have pod help with that committee to give Melissa a break because they've been working so hard and are attending so many events with all of us too. It's okay to let go of some of that too. So maybe Britney can check-in with other members who aren't here tonight and see if we can develop a either pod committee or a small committee to help plan some other retreat. That

44:07 – 44:230

sounds good. I think maybe so maybe pod takes the lead on it. But if anyone else, not only for marketing and outreach, but if anyone else wants to be involved in planning, I don't see there's any reason why they can't join. So but, yeah, I think it's a good idea to have Pog take the lead on it at least.

44:28 – 44:582

For October, I also think that if folks interested in planning this are available, it works ideally for me to meet on the twenty second before our regular meeting and sometime in the afternoon. So folks wanna show up early to downtown, and we can have a a work session that can be hybrid so that we can do it a little virtual, a little bit in person. That's something that would work out.

45:003

I'm pretty sure I can the twenty second work.

45:10 – 45:405

I may or may not attend that. Just let other people do some of the planning too. But one suggestion too, just real quick, for the border treat, it'd be wonderful if we had a small year in review, and that could might be a fun question for you, Britney, about what was their thing you learned the most or whatever we learned in the past year and just a year in review because we've done a lot of events, and we've been out in the community and doing a lot of outreach and work. And I think it's good to celebrate that and see how far we've come in the past year because we've done a lot of great work. So

45:440

Great. Anyone

45:47 – 45:582

has photos they wanna send me or achievements or kudos to fellow commissioners, send them my way. I'll start collecting now. We can amass something for December.

45:590

Cool. Hey. Anything else on the on POG for a committee report that isn't tied in with the retreat?

46:103

I don't think so unless, Britney, you have anything.

46:15 – 46:292

No. And, actually, I think because we had clarified the retreat thing, this is still the MORE committee. Melissa, do you have any more MORE stuff so that we're not skipping the end of your report

46:294

out? I don't think so.

46:40 – 47:230

Okay. Last is heritage review committee. We haven't had a review since last time we met. We do have one coming up next week, though, which should be a pretty fun one on the Carnegie Library renovation, which is a project that's been bouncing around here for, like, five years. So we'll see, where they're going with it and if it happens. But it's a great old building. It's one of my favorites in town. So I hope I hope something happens with it. Anything else on heritage review, Britney, that you know about?

47:240

I guess you said there's a special tax valuation coming up, it sounds like. So

47:28 – 47:572

They're they haven't submitted any of their documents to me, so I don't know if they are ready to apply fully or not. Because to get all your documents together, there's a lot of prep work for it. So I guess I don't want to I don't have any details to share because I haven't seen their materials. Mhmm. But the Carnegie Library might actually be a joint review committee. So we haven't

47:573

done one for this. Yeah.

48:002

I think

48:00 – 48:120

I don't think I've done one since I've been on this commission, and that's been a long time. So that's great. I don't even know who's on design review anymore. Nope.

48:15 – 48:482

I think maybe when we're there Garner, you won't be there. But if we we could discuss, like, which commissioners wants to be part of the joint review committee when that time comes, that would probably be a good discussion to start. And then Yeah. The package should be coming out later this week. But, Garner, if you had any comments that you wanted me to relay, I'm happy to like, if you wanna mark something up or send a memo or a suggestion or something, I can read this out for you.

48:49 – 49:010

Okay. Sounds good. Okay. Well, that is committee reports. Anything else before we break out?

49:07 – 49:220

Okay. Well, good to see everybody, and, looking forward to the retreat and some of the cool stuff coming up. Looking forward to Artswalk for sure. That'll be great. The Windows workshop's gonna be fantastic. Yeah. Some great stuff coming up.

49:232

Please take pictures of all of the events and things that you're doing and wear your cute name tags.

49:280

Good reminders. Thank you.

49:292

But I wish I could be there on Saturday, and then on ArtsWalk, yeah, I've I'll try to be there as much as I can, but it won't be the full time. So

49:395

Okay. There we go, Melissa. I love it.

49:451

K. Good night, everyone.

49:475

Good night, everyone.

49:480

Good night. We'll officially adjourn it. Oh, sorry. '20 oh, sorry. 628. We'll officially adjourn. So now you can say good night.

49:555

Alright. Good night. Good night.

49:573

Good night. See you all. Bye.
