City Council - Special Meeting

We got anyone else here? Okay. Call this meeting to order. Start with the Pledge of Allegiance.

We have a quorum. Canvas election returns.

Okay, we need to canvas the election from the June 2nd election. We're just canvassing the city portions. So I put the poll books in front of all of you for... one ward for each of you and it's not your ward because I can't have you canvass a ward if you were a candidate. Your job is to open the returns from each precinct. Make sure the returns are genuine and don't look forged. Make an abstract of the precincts and the returns which are in front of you already. I put the totals, make sure they look correct to you. And then sign the Canvas form if you're satisfied with the abstract on the Canvas. So like this, I have, so each of you has a poll book from the day of the election and then from the absentee voters. That's why there's two. For each precinct.

Where am I going to find the numbers that I'm matching up? So you have public results with each envelope, right?

And then you have two poll cards. And you have, this is the sheet that the poll voters use to balance. They make sure that the number of ballots they were given balanced at the end of the night. And that the number of voters in the poll votes matched the number of ballots that were used.

So that no extra ballots were here.

Sounds very simple and straightforward. It's like reconciling banks.

And then if I'm satisfied with it, then I'm going to sign on my piece of paper that has this. Yep.

And then I need each of you to sign all of the canvases. But do not sign it if you are on the ballot and that board. I've done this many times. And then also the initiated measures also being passed around as well.

I think, is that the one I got?

Yes. Yep, you have that one as well.

So I'll pass that one over to you. And you want to sit with the envelope. Yes. Yep, and you can all sign them out. Yep. Do you want to be kind of, should we go, can I just leave it like this? Yes, you can just leave it like that.

Um, no, that's the one that's all stapled together. I just gave those to, um, to at least two of you. Okay. And then pass the program on to you, Tim. So normally when you wake up.
