Meeting to audit at 07:01.

0:111

Mister Chapp, I can make a motion to accept the minutes of March 4 as written.

0:22 – 0:420

Second. Motion remaining seconded. Any discussion? Hearing none. All in favor? Aye. Opposed? Any abstentions? I do. Can you volume down?

0:432

No. It's not her, Zach.

0:450

No. No. It's Zach's volume.

0:472

You're getting loud and loud, Zach. I heard. Okay. Thanks.

0:510

Sure, Kat. We'll go to the next item on the agenda, which is FY twenty six budget update.

1:01 – 1:242

Okay. Well, quick update. We have I put March and April reports in there. We haven't received the $0.50 per subscriber annual fee yet. We did get the Verizon Capital check for 50,000 for March.

1:24 – 1:542

Then for April, we're about halfway through the month. I did renew the Adobe subscriptions for Dell that were approved at the last meeting. And that was a big a bigger expenditure. And we did have the after hours card reader entry system and monitor installed. It doesn't work. The touch it's one door. We'll get it fixed by tomorrow. I

1:551

didn't know it wasn't working.

1:57 – 2:192

So our account balance at the April, if you go to the very last page where it takes out my deduction with the town, salary paid to the town, our account balance is $765,058.10.

2:261

Motion to accept as read. Make a motion to accept the, the budget as read by Karen.

2:353

Mhmm. I'll second

2:360

it. Thank you. Mhmm. Any discussion further discussion? Does anyone wanna question anything?

2:434

I just had a I wasn't looking at the right page. So the April number and then the fiscal year, page eight on this packet, is the July.

2:532

Yeah. So the balance before they you take out my salary Gotcha. That's paid to the town.

3:004

Thank you. Yep. I found it right differences. Right on top. Thank you.

3:052

The next page is the breakout of the Ed funds. This is before any Wow.

3:140

He buys a lot

3:17 – 3:312

is before anything from today. So MET has the credit so far for the three quarters

3:31 – 3:522

Is $66,561.95. And to date, purchases have been $26,320.33, leaving a remaining balance at $40,241.62 for purchases by MET.

3:540

Different than years past. Right? Absolutely. Give you a way to free now.

4:014

Really? It's amazing.

4:040

No. It's what we want we were hoping for now that the money comes in correctly. Update on '27.

4:12 – 4:232

So I know at I don't if it was the last meeting or the one before it was voted. Our budget for FY '27 was voted. We've had a little bit of a hiccup. And

4:240

We'll talk a little later.

4:252

We'll talk about that during our executive session regarding salaries. So

4:33 – 4:540

Yep. That's just showing you the budget as she presented it last time to us. Okay. We'll come back. Yeah. We'll come that. Back Do you have any studio updates, Carrie? Just letting you

4:54 – 5:152

know that the card reader has been the new card reader system has been installed. The monitor for the security has been installed in my office. Everybody should have their new cards. Love card. It just didn't work up the door. So it will I'll get it.

5:150

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

5:172

They are working on these doors and the inside door over there. My card works. Get it.

5:244

Just don't card work.

5:252

Just don't come over call the one, you know, the number here, and we'll let you go.

5:290

I'm gonna call you with no light at home.

5:342

So that is an update on Please. Sure. Yeah.

5:400

How about your Facebook account?

5:43 – 6:342

So personally and professionally, in order to have a business page on Facebook, social media, you have to have a personal profile that it's attached to. So McCann was attached or is attached to my personal Facebook account on Facebook. And there was an incident on April Fool's Day where my account was hacked, and I lost access to it as well as the McCann page. Since yesterday, I was able to get in. Thankfully, for just a little bit, not enough to change the password and get rid of the person who hacked me, but enough to add Zach as an admin on the McCann page.

6:34 – 7:152

So we do have access to the page, and I'm working on resolving the issue with my account still being attached to it. But until we can clear up the the hacker. I've unfriended everybody on my account and basically made it as minimum as possible And just to try to get them to not even wanna be on my profile anymore. So McCann wasn't touched or harmed. I did unpublish it. So it's not accessible right now if somebody wanted to go to the McCann Facebook page. But we do have our website that's actively working fine, and

7:154

we've been

7:152

sending people to watch videos either there or through the town website, the agenda center.

7:240

Okay. Any questions?

7:25 – 7:401

Just a quick question, probably totally unrelated, but last meeting we talked about the Verizon renewal. Are we going anywhere with that at this point? That's the next item on the agenda. Just thought I'd ask.

7:40 – 8:000

Franchise Verizon franchise renewal update. Sure. Yes. Bob's gonna be our attorney again. He's already got Karen already sent him the information. I talked to Emily, his daughter, who was his secretary on Monday, and she said that she printed a note. You sent it on a Friday. Right?

8:012

I think

8:020

it was last

8:022

yeah. Two Fridays ago.

8:04 – 8:170

Two Fridays ago? Well, she's gonna make them give us an answer. I'll have to get an answer soon, just to answer Verizon. And it's just basically answering them back that we're not going to negotiate.

8:172

Yeah. It's the

8:180

It's the state senate

8:192

in to us. The state that we are in three years. You know, it's a three year notification

8:240

that we got. So that's where that stands right now.

8:281

Okay. Good.

8:330

The camp purchases?

8:342

Nope. I don't have anything. I just added in there in case something came up.

8:380

But And net updates?

8:402

Net purchases.

8:40 – 8:544

Net purchases? Yes. Okay. Yes. So on page 11 of the packet, we have a a quote from B and H, and these are more or less miscellaneous items.

8:54 – 9:374

They're not really cohesive, but I can kinda go through touch on some of the some of them. But the goal here is essentially to kind of round up my camera our camera kits at the school where each camera has a tripod, wireless microphone, batteries, SD cards. So we're adding more microphones. So on the and also kind of like getting some replacement parts for the tripods to extend their lives. So on the first page of that, you'll see microphone clips for $2 just to replace the the clip that attaches the the wired mic and a Monfrotto mounting plate for a tripod that went missing. So we're getting just a few extras just so we can keep that. It's a standard plate. Let's see. Some mounting screws that came off for the

9:370

tripod plate. Quick question on this. Sure. Everything comes from The Philippines, China, Italy.

9:441

Yeah. I don't know if that's the news or what

9:460

is the expect to get that. Like, that's a year.

9:494

And I never noticed that. If that's a

9:512

If that's a news tape

9:521

comes from US. Yeah. The gas yeah. Dropping tape. Yeah. That's what I that's all we're good for, the drafting tape. Yeah. Yeah. So And I would hit the point.

10:004

That is interesting. I've never noticed the country of origin and the B and H quotes.

10:040

Continues on the next one. So

10:072

I thought

10:070

that was

10:08 – 10:474

So I a pizza for free. I should I didn't notice that too, but either. But, yeah, some SD cards, some mic more microphones, some gaff tape. This this amount of gaff tape should get us through over three years. We use a lot less than we need need to back in the day where every wire had to be taped down now. Oh, yeah. The wires are They were wired. Wireless. Yeah. The heart plugs into a wall. Mhmm. And it booms right up to our room. So so microphone stuff here in that B and H order. I think the bigger ticket I I request come from from the computers, is a separate quote. So I don't know if these should be done one at a time, these requests.

10:471

Yeah. I did the B and H quote. Yes.

10:50 – 11:054

Can there are two separate I I sent Karen a B and H quote, I think, probably the night before the previous meeting when I was at parent teacher conferences, and I missed it. So there are two separate B and H quotes is my point, because I added some monitors.

11:050

And Page four zero four

11:074

is one. Exactly. Now one thing to clarify is that the computer quotes coming up, I believe some of those quotes include the monitors with it.

11:162

Oh, okay. I was I just

11:174

wanna double check that. I could

11:191

be wrong. Nope. Those don't The one that Aucher's does.

11:214

Nope. They don't. Oh, the Aucher's does. Okay. Yeah.

11:242

So lockers, it says, there's one is one computer and one monitor.

11:284

Oh. You see it? Yeah.

11:325

So I scroll.

11:324

But maybe we can just Yeah. Let's do the maybe just the first PNH quote first. That doesn't have to do with any computers.

11:390

Done. You can't make it.

11:421

I could give it a try though.

11:450

Mister chairman,

11:46 – 11:591

can make a motion to approve B and H quote 1127961350 for February for equipment for Met.

12:003

I'll second.

12:01 – 12:180

Motion is made and seconded. Any discussion? Hearing none, all in favor? Aye. Any opposed? Any abstention? Move on to your next one. Yes, sir. Alright.

12:18 – 12:474

So these next ones came after tons of thought. We had the the past two weeks, as the quarter three in our, school came to comes to an end on Friday. And the use in the computers, everyone's finishing their videos. And, we lots of computers have just started crashing all at the same time. And I think part of that is many of the computers that came with the new school weren't future proofed as well as they could be.

12:47 – 13:164

They knew there's more stock models that maybe would work in a photography class or web class. So there's 20 and they're six years old. But so those were the computers. And there are two other computers that we actually brought from the Nichols that still were useful. But we found that as Adobe auto updated to 2026, they became they weren't unable to update because we couldn't update the operating system. So it just became an issue where

13:172

And then were they Macs or PCs?

13:18 – 13:394

Macs. These are all Macs. So student could, like, start a project in one computer and with the edit share server we have, conceivably, it could finish on another. But when we moved to the older computer, it wouldn't open the project because it wasn't running the newest version of Adobe. So over break, I'm gonna try to back roll the version to a 2025.

13:39 – 14:124

But ultimately, it's gonna be an issue where we're not gonna be able to run the editing software on the computers we have. So I did some research and the iMacs, they're really slick and they look great, but it's kind of like a one time Mhmm. You you you know, you can't upgrade the RAM and the hard drive and the graphics card Mhmm. The same way that you can, like, a a tower PC. So I spoke with the technology ops officer at the school too.

14:12 – 14:434

He said that the Windows machines are just a lot easier to secure on the student accounts. We had an issue where we basically the iMac is one student account, and they log in to Chrome. And when they leave, their Chrome account that they access all their Google things with is still there unless they choose to delete it. They forget, and now someone else has access to all their data. So they can't the school, since we're, like, the only Macs in the district or whatever, they don't have the security to keep that safe.

14:43 – 15:234

And, also, these these towers will allow us to upgrade mod you know, in pieces. If we needed a new hard drive, if one crashed, we're not losing the whole computer. If we need more RAM or, graphics card, things like that. I'm just kinda loading my notes here. I think I yeah. So the limited functionality of the hardware updates kinda made the Macs something that I wanted to I wanted to just explore what Windows could do, and now Adobe runs Windows just as well. We can edit the videos on Windows just as well. Exactly. It's connected to the edit share server the same way. Our TriCaster machine is a Windows machine, and it's super stable with the edit share, server.

15:24 – 15:494

So I wanted to give this a whirl in a smaller scale. Like, I'm not wanting to re replace the whole lab. I sent out just some April notes. It was like six or maybe nine pages long to all of you before this meeting. And I just in the notes, it has a list of all the computers we have in that room and which ones let's see.

15:49 – 16:144

One, two. I don't wanna cut them off. But There's about 10 that were purchased through the this committee since 2023, and there's probably about 14 or 15 that are in there that are 2020 or before. So my goal and my vision is just for the next few months, if this works, we add three more and maybe three more after that and kind of just

16:140

Yes, ma'am.

16:154

Have have, kind of wave Rotate

16:180

them in.

16:184

Rotate them in. Exactly. So it's less of a big ticket expense all at once. Anyhoo.

16:255

So they're looking into the future.

16:270

Well, paying the future expense. He wants the The the people that

16:325

we we would be buying the or you would be buying the shrimp, Can they guarantee you another three to four years?

16:39 – 17:194

Longing machine? Yeah. Not necessarily. But these specs are pretty robust in terms of the processor, and it's it it these computers represent a major upgrade in terms of what the kids are gonna be able to do. Four k editing, kind of seamless transitions from one computer to the next, even if they're going from Mac to Windows. So I'm confident that these computers will have that shelf life. The term they use like to use is future proof where, you know, it's still it's not obsolete, you know, when it comes out of the box and that's still good for, you know, I wanna try to get ten years out of these machines.

17:192

Spring Spice, how does a tower with a monitor compared to a

17:234

Yeah. It's

17:252

It's dollars.

17:26 – 17:454

Yeah. With the with the screen, probably about $1,500 more per unit. This is just me eyeballing the quote. We might pay I I could look it up, but maybe 2,200 for an iMac, and these are coming in at more like 3,800 with the with the whole monitor and the tower.

17:45 – 17:562

So the quotes that we have that I was we have a quote from Ocres for one tower and one monitor. And then the quote from CDW was for three. Right?

17:56 – 18:084

Yeah. The Ocres one should have been for three. Okay. And I don't know why how that what that happened there. But Just multiply

18:082

it by three.

18:09 – 18:384

Yeah. And there was one other quote that I don't see here, but there was another company. We got three I got three quotes just because this is something different. It's a larger price, and I can look it up. But, you know, bay basically, it was for three. They're all you know, if you look, they're all kind of within the $200 of each other. The CDW one came in lower here, and I think that's not even

18:382

Are there cheap CDW ones?

18:434

No. I think it just has all the specs.

18:464

It's just multiple pages of the exact specifications. Alright. I don't think I think that's just like a shopping cart.

18:534

So my guess, I don't really think that's such

18:56 – 19:100

a low memory. Twenty five twelve gig. What the else could be that was terabytes. Oh, really? On the hard drive? I'm sorry. That's the first thing I look at now. I just found them for the health department. Oh, nice.

19:111

Yeah. So it's just on the two Aucharist machines, they'll give you Windows 11 Pro, but it doesn't show on the B and H that it comes with Windows 11.

19:204

The B and H one was Just the monitor. Just monitor.

19:231

Just the monitor.

19:244

Which I was gonna add to the first vote we passed, but the quote had already been prepared for the original items we just approved. So it just

19:33 – 19:440

made sense to do it separately. The first one that you do with ARC is is is a Dell preconfigured. Correct. If you're looking there, it's a 32 gig memory and then one ten s s d.

19:441

That's that's

19:494

got Probably six years. Either one of them. Should get more than that.

19:521

Big piece of the job. Well, I got a big exchange. Oh, yeah.

19:560

I got a thumb drive.

19:571

That's a takeaway. Absolutely. Yeah. Remember you used to get a box like that. Yeah.

20:01 – 20:164

I have that too. I just wanna check because I didn't I wanna check the email what I received just to make sure. I know it's in the packet here, but I didn't see this I didn't get the chance to see this packet prior to. So there's

20:162

some I

20:161

think I missed one.

20:184

Right. I think we missed one.

20:19 – 20:332

Yeah. So for three units from Cockers, it'd be 11,481. For three units from CDW, is it the same It's not the same. It's not the same

20:334

computer at all.

20:340

No. That's not it is the same computer, but that

20:364

is not the same specifications.

20:380

Right. I mean, just in there

20:401

Alright. So that

20:410

big thing Dell Pro matched our, you know, it goes a long time.

20:46 – 21:144

Gigabytes, one terabyte SSD, where the other one was 500. Five twelve. Five twelve. The the good news is is that that's the the hard drive capacity is probably the least important part because the kids won't be using the hard drive. They'll be editing on the edit share server down the hall. So this is just the processing power. That is the most important thing. The hard drive will run the software and the operating system. The 32 should be alright for you though. Right.

21:14 – 21:252

So the price difference just between these two quotes, it's, it's $11,004.81 from Acres for three units with the the everything's in the one and

21:251

pepper Right.

21:262

Order. The other is a cross confined order with CDW, B and H for the computer and monitor, and that comes to $10,007.28 $0.09.

21:424

And then was there a third? $52. Was did you get a third quote from me?

21:471

Yeah. You said there was a third one. I didn't

21:504

Let me just check myself. I can use It's on my laptop, but I'm not sure.

21:562

I pull up plate. So

22:011

just so I understand what's going on here, we are looking at how many new PCs?

22:064

Three. You have a group?

22:071

Yep. And those would go with the monitors requested? Correct. Okay.

22:154

That's happen.

22:16 – 22:320

It's like mixing a match. Prices come together. I like the idea that you're getting with Lockers, you're getting both the monitor and the computer. Oh. Where you have to sort of pick and choose what CD No. CDW.

22:32 – 23:044

We were gonna add the monitor and then we my original plan was, oh, let's just if this comes in under 10, we'll just store the monitor on the b and h quote. So the CDW does offer that exact same monitor, and it was initially in there. But then I thought, oh, you know, if there's complications from being over $10,000. And then I realized, you know, I'm just gonna get three quotes anyway. So that's kind of the, you know, the theory behind that.

23:04 – 23:194

But I let's see. Do you need a DVD drive? I don't, but they actually don't really offer one. Like, In I the This tower does have a DVD drive, I I could take it or leave it. It's not something we're gonna use,

23:190

Believe me or not.

23:234

Other than the ripped DVD like, take DVDs we've had from twenty years ago Mhmm. And kinda digitize them again. Oh, yeah. I do have three quotes in here.

23:341

Right now.

23:350

She went to pray the last one.

23:364

Let's see. No. Maybe I don't. I just have the specifications.

23:400

In in equal.

23:434

But I do think this CDW was the most competitive.

23:491

I don't think did she go for the CDW?

23:520

Yes. She she got we got the CDW here. Really? Like Yeah. Right after ARC is I don't know what number it is.

23:591

Oh, okay. Okay. Okay. They go, Marvin. Sorry.

24:040

Then you drop down another page, two pages. Oh, okay. Break it down much.

24:104

You have everything I sent you. I think I just missed oh, no. Is it there?

24:140

Yeah. Okay.

24:15 – 24:262

Yeah. It's a company called Wally Computer Associates Inc. Wally. Yes. W h a l l e y. So that one ends from case

24:264

Yeah. Thank you so much. Okay. Good.

24:312

Need my glasses. 35 Shrine D. That's 1000770.

24:400

That's right at the brain. And Oh.

24:442

And that is here. You hear them?

24:46 – 24:584

Yellow rice. And I do. Yep. So it's the yep. The monitor in the tower. 32 gigs of one terabyte hard drive.

24:590

Which company do you wanna go to? Remember, you wanna be able to get support too, that's the

25:04 – 25:214

I believe this company, the like, it says the customer contact like, the school department uses this, and they spoke with the sales rep, and they said they could basically just switch over the bill to MCAM, you know. Like, they'll honor this quote.

25:212

But this so you get the educational discount Right. At that company.

25:254

Right. Exactly.

25:262

That's why it's $10.07, Seth. Right. Okay.

25:314

So, honestly, it's the same computer. I could take it or leave it in terms of where they're

25:350

It's tough, guys. Choose. Now it's called choosing.

25:381

Go with the cheapest if I say it Yeah. Exactly.

25:432

You can if somebody wants see that quote, so

25:464

you can see the thumb brush at the top. Oh, yeah.

25:521

Rig up.

25:572

Sorry about that. There was a lot of papers that came online.

26:001

That one only is one. Right. Thank you. But

26:050

that has to do with anything. You

26:072

ask me to do

26:091

Like it. Yeah. That's what I have to like. Okay. So one tower and one monitor. So it's be three. So this so this number is three times three?

26:190

Yeah. Which

26:194

is No. That's the total number. Four three, I think.

26:231

But you but, Jared.

26:254

Oh, no. The is this 3,005

26:272

They only gave a quote for one of each. Yeah. So we gotta multiply it by

26:304

three.

26:311

You you multiplied it already? 3,590?

26:340

$10,007.70. 7

26:371

10,007

26:382

What's the phone? Zero. Is there any zeros and change of the

26:425

bond? Yeah.

26:432

That comes to

26:440

the bonds. She's not gonna see it. You have to read it.

26:482

Oh, I know. Just What's the total there? It's 3,001.

26:531

$3,590.

26:552

$3,503.05

26:571

$9.00 dot 0.

26:595

Is that the lowest price on the Midland? Yes.

27:034

But it's not in our package.

27:040

Southwick Masters? I don't. I even.

27:062

Yes. So $10,770.

27:081

Okay. Because we we had another one earlier. It was $10,007.22. I just wanna make sure we were

27:13 – 27:240

It's it's 2,000 the three of the three. Yep. Yes. Okay. Adam, you're choosing this last one from WCA?

27:241

Yes. They're from Massachusetts. Good. Semi local company. Southwick up by

27:305

Do you know them?

27:31 – 27:561

I don't know them, but I know where they are. Need a motion? Mister chair. Vote. I'd like to accept a quote from Wally Computer Associates in Southwood, Massachusetts. Quote number 437925. That's 437925. And that's the computers for MET at $10,770.

27:57 – 28:090

Second. Bob said it. Bobby. Yeah. Motion to be made and seconded. Any further discussion? I think we just killed it.

28:121

All set.

28:130

All in favor? Aye. Aye. Any opposed? It passes.

28:204

Thank you all. I was

28:222

wanted to have Sean work out the quote with them. Should he want me to reach out to them?

28:274

Maybe I'll give them your info and they can or I don't know. I'll give you their info. You'll Okay. My people will talk to your people. Thanks.

28:362

But I know Sean just wanted to do the order and then send it to us. Sure. Absolutely. That'd probably be easier since he's got an account with them.

28:444

Exactly. We'll do that. That way, we don't fill in any paperwork.

28:471

Once you get this all working, Adam, let let's know how it works. I will. Because that'll give us a direction for the future. Where's Sharks? Way to go.

28:53 – 29:234

And if any updates from you? I have tons of updates to share. Oh, that's good. Don't want everybody to lead any further because on Tuesday around 10AM, we the press release came out and, we found out that Middleborough High School students won two New England student production awards in 2026 Nice. Which is excellent. So that brings our total to 19 student production awards in the past eleven years. Wow. And which is really up there. Some of the most in New England. Well, they get

29:230

the best teacher. Appreciate

29:251

Is there enough room with the trophy?

29:274

It really is. We

29:295

squeeze.

29:29 – 30:104

Oh. So We can't wear any coins out. That's a good problem to have. But I wanna just shout out these students who just did exceptional work. Had a student, Danny, Danny Tawa, who received a student production award in the long form non fiction category, which is a category we've never won in. It's basically a documentary between ten minutes and thirty minutes. Wow. And they did a a documentary on the making of one of the speech and theater workshop performances called Teen Edition. And they were in the show. They had a role in the show and they also were able to film all these behind the scenes rehearsals, interview the cast and crew, and really get a sense of the whole program organically building to that opening night.

30:11 – 30:264

This student was one of my filmmaking students and that was their major film that they wanted to produce. So it was a semester in the making and it's such an awesome feather in their cap that that was the recognition they got. And the speech and theater people love it too.

30:261

That's a thing. You can see her.

30:27 – 30:504

Yes. Yep. And also, I wanna celebrate sophomore Aaron Davis, who earned a student production award in the photographer category, which might sound peculiar for a video contest, but photographer in this this jargon means like cameraman for video. So he did a whole amazing highlight of the MHS football season. He loves doing the sports related highlights.

30:50 – 31:154

So he it wasn't more like the broadcast angle, but more like a film angle of all the footage. He was on the sideline, right, you know, getting the players coming on and off the field and in the rain and all this cool stuff. So so that's actually his second consecutive student production award as a freshman last year. Wow. He was one of our only winners in the audio sound category for a contest video he did.

31:15 – 31:494

So this is a kind of a different type of award that he won, which is really cool. We also had three other nominations or honorable mentions, I should say. They didn't win, but they were in the top four in the category. Specifically, our studio production class, which is the first time that class has been specifically a studio class. One of the two classes won for their newscast for MET News, is our flagship TV show where all our news stories and highlights go. They're behind the anchor desk. They're introducing the pep rally highlights and

31:491

the Just like the big guys.

31:50 – 32:334

Just like the big guys. So it's really cool because that all happens in the setup similar to this. Yep. And what I love about that class is the collaboration because no one person can do it by themselves. So everyone has a specific job. And in that class, they all get trained on the audio mixer, teleprompter, anchor, technical director, graphics, editing, and then it all just comes together. And it's really their show. They come up with the rundown and the script, and so, that's just a really cool achievement. I've had a senior Joshua Horseman earn an honorable mention in the editing category for the twenty twenty five senior walk. And what makes this particularly challenging is he did what's called a SDE, a same day edit.

32:33 – 32:584

So, basically, they compiled in an hour long senior walk. They filmed it from, like, eight different cameras. And, basically, the senior walk gives the seniors a chance to get in their caps and gowns and walk through each building of the school from kindergarten through the elementary through the middle and the high school. And they get to see their teachers walk the halls about one last time, and it's the day before graduation. It's the last day they're ever in with their class before they graduate.

32:58 – 33:194

So he takes all that footage and compiles it and edit it all night on one of the our laptops. And by the next morning of graduation, he we get to post that and that's like really cool So definitely close at the heartstrings because all the parents, if you know, like, day, they're all end up at the post office with like the fat heads of their kids and like the signs and

33:192

But I love that you use the drone.

33:214

And we use the drone.

33:222

Draw on footage, get the buses, get the off the

33:25 – 33:414

So someone's crush, just he has our implicit trust. It's like, here's the footage. And it's like anyone can make a cool looking video, but few people can do it in that amount of time. With the expectation, people are two hundred hundred fifty people are waiting to see that video when it drops.

33:412

Seem easy and that's

33:424

the Right. Exactly.

33:441

An editing job like that is unique. Right. Absolutely. You know

33:472

do that at NIC too.

33:49 – 34:314

Correct. Yeah. So we had a group of students do that last March, again, for probably the fifteenth year in a row or so. But and then the last honorable mention is really special because it came from our level one class, the video production class. So they're the first time students. And they produced a public service announcement called the Apple. And the themes of it kind of relate to eating disorders and pressures from social media to be thin. And it's just like so simple in its brilliance. Like, there's no words or anything like that. And it just, I think it resonates with the kids of today who are scrolling through their phone and they're seeing all these people that they might aspire to look like, and then they feel pressured to do that.

34:31 – 35:104

So I wanna give a shout out to Sanaeh Agasti and Tanisha Rajil for producing that awesome video, and it kinda gives hope to all our current level one students that, like, you don't have to be the most have the most experience to be eligible and be ready to win one of these prestigious awards. So it's really cool. So we we'll hear more information in the coming months about awards reception. Last year was at Boston twenty five studios. And they all Aaron and Connor and I got to go there on the last day of school and get a whole tour of the facilities, kinda mingle with other students who are also winners in that work.

35:10 – 35:434

And I think the meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz gave a little some remarks, and we had pizza and and then kinda got their crystal pillars, which is what it's all about. And that's kept within the school. The students will get a certificate. Well, Congratulations. Oh, I be sure to do that. And if anyone wants to watch the videos, they're all on our website middlebartv.com, as well as Ariana MET. And our compilation show we call Netflix. And we run all the contest videos there as

35:431

well as We're this close. This close. This sucks.

35:45 – 36:244

M E T Flicks. And then we have another show called Through the Lens and and that's our filmmaking studio talk show. And it's basically like DVD commentary. I had a chance to talk with the producers of each film that they made in the filmmaking class, talk about the challenges and the obstacles and how they came up with their idea and then they made a movie trailer for their film and we watched the film And it's all kind of embedded in there. But it's all on our website and right at the top. So with pictures and videos. So I couldn't be more proud of what what's happening here in our school and it's like, you know, really really the best time. So we've never taught more kids. We have a 184 kids

36:24 – 36:350

learning TV Pro this year, and I think that you deserve an applause from us because you take us to there and make us look good. So I appreciate it very much. Oh, thank you.

36:35 – 36:504

You guys I'm the one. Thank you. You guys are the unsung heroes because they don't know if, you know, without the decisions you guys make to support our program, there would be this none of us would be here. So I just wanna celebrate you guys and give you guys applause equally.

36:501

Well, congratulations to all the winners, and congratulations to all the students.

36:544

But These are always Super excited. They're always just fired up the group of that I have right now that are literally starting that process and making everybody else for next year.

37:020

Father and I have been here the longest, and I think this

37:05 – 37:325

is the most we've ever seen. This is this is very good. I mean, from an educational standpoint, you give the kid insights. I shouldn't say kids, You give them an insight in what's possible. Yeah. Okay? That's the most important thing. If they understand who they are, where they wanna go, They have a great mind. And

37:32 – 37:484

it's so it's so great because they get recognized by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. These are industry professionals. They're not scoring each other's videos. It's like people who work in TV and film for a living. Part of their view is they watch these videos and they score them and

37:481

Watch them.

37:49 – 38:014

And then it's something you can put on a resume in so many careers. I've been doing this long enough to see that there's alumni that have really stuck with it, and it's that's really satisfying to me. That's nice. And I do have more news

38:011

if we No. No. No. The floor is yours, Gareth.

38:04 – 38:384

Awesome. So on behalf of the elementary school music teachers, they're overjoyed because they get their camera kits that were purchased through here. Mhmm. I inventoried everything. Everything got a label. They got this is tiny, but they got the little MET with the bike flags. So everything they do is for their programming and the music teachers already email me back and they're like, this is awesome. We're using this. They taped a third grade musical just Monday or Tuesday. And they had all the gear and it was like, we didn't have to run down there.

38:38 – 38:534

Have the two cameras set up. They edited between them. So I'm offer I've offered to give them whatever training they need and access to that. But it seems like they're really running with it. And I think there's more to come in terms of podcasts and programming and getting the kids involved.

38:532

On that channel? Mhmm.

38:554

Okay. It's on the other channel. Alright. Yep.

38:572

So And I have those cameras too that that I was gonna get

39:024

Oh, nice. Yes.

39:042

The older ones. So Yeah. They still work.

39:06 – 39:434

We'll take we'll take whenever we have because it's just more opportunities for the kids. So and that was where I had a training with the during professional development time, we were able to, like, have some training with them. So it isn't, the first time they've ever been exposed to the gear. So but I look at it as a starting point, you know. It's halfway through and beyond in the year. So whatever they do now is really just to get their feet wet and to kind of prep for the next year and beyond. So I expect some bigger things and, you know, eventually would like to get it in the hands of the middle school teachers and and beyond. Adam? Yes.

39:443

I was there last night at the musical and it was wonderful.

39:474

Oh, great. See, they

39:483

just They did a great job and it sounded great. It was a good time.

39:524

Yeah. So there we go. So it's good that we have that coverage and that the kids, if anything, they get to see themselves properly and the parents that weren't there.

40:00 – 40:325

Did you have something to say, Bob? I did. The musical the the music class came down to Oak Point Oh, and did a presentation for about an hour and a half, which was really, really good. I mean, you can't you can't underestimate giving somebody some direction and then leaving them on their own to go do it. That's most important.

40:32 – 40:575

I mean, they they were filmed. The kids that were in the the instrumentals, they were filmed. It seemed like there was, like, eight people filming, but they all had the camera running at the right angles and so forth and so on. So for the music department, actually, for the high school, I think that was that was really good.

40:58 – 41:414

Yeah. Yep. We covered it. Just some last bit of notes in terms of moving forward for the next remainder of the school year. We had some studio lights that we were getting some, like, error and the lights have gone out. Not all of them, but, like, one at a time kept dropping out. So over April break, or over February break, we contacted the Barbizon Lighting Company who installed it as part of the school building budget, And they gave us some things that we can try, so we're gonna try it next week over April break. And hopefully, there's good news. I wanna just keep you in the loop on that because that could be an initiative as to just get those squared away heading into September. It's not a big deal now because I'm not covered teaching the studio production class, so they don't get a ton of use.

41:424

But it's something that I don't wanna wait till October and have it be too late. Oh, you know.

41:462

My biggest barbers on-site is the lighting guy here.

41:48 – 42:004

Not necessarily. We did talk to them first just because they installed it and they had the access to the I don't know the name of the brand light, but it I don't know. It was Andre.

42:002

He used to work for them. He branched out and sold and he's a good guy, and he

42:054

does good good work.

42:070

That'll be expensive then.

42:08 – 42:274

I'm not beholden to any any Barbizon for sure because they're definitely the biggest and the usually, the most expensive. So so I'm yeah. Whatever comes in. So we'll definitely be looking into that. And I think that's it for now. But tons of stuff happening here. We have tons of events being covered in games.

42:28 – 42:494

Like I said, I have a 180 students this year and a 140 of them this semester, and they're taping every we got 21 new programs on the channel in the past thirty days with three more to be added in the next two days. So they're keeping us busy getting the content on the channel and just kinda recycling through a lot of lacrosse, some tennis in there, some you know?

42:492

Well, speaking of adding programs, we reached a milestone Mhmm.

42:534

I saw that.

42:54 – 43:182

In our cable pass system. We reached a 10,000 shows that so, you know, between the school and all the productions they're doing, all the stuff we're covering here between meetings and events, and it's a lot. We've reached that 10,000 show ID. Cool. Yep. Joe was so excited. He came running to me with, like, a little piece of paper, he's like, we did it.

43:184

I was worried what was gonna happen because it was, like, $9,900. And I'm like, is it just gonna reset? Is this gonna be a problem, like, y two k?

43:260

No. Does that make you proud? Are you a part of some of them building

43:294

the Christmas group?

43:313

It does.

43:320

Back in the day?

43:332

Back in the day, 2011.

43:354

But that's it for our updates for now.

43:380

Karen, do you have any update?

43:39 – 44:052

Well, my update was the 10,000. The big milestone, and we have a active eight access users now. We've had a couple that had gone away for school that have reached out to me to come back for the summer. Some, you know, different reasons, they had stepped away for a little bit. So we have, you know, Emily and Sophia, all the people that just here.

44:050

Emily is the one that applied here?

44:070

You tell them where she's working.

44:091

Yeah. She's working in Plymouth. Yeah.

44:12 – 44:332

But remember that. And then, Scott also interviewed, and he's been doing a lot of weekend coverage of events that happened on the weekends because, like, he still works at the other studio during the week. But just to make a little extra money, he's covering it, editing, and just giving us the final product, which is great. Good.

44:340

Anything else to cover prior to the committee? We're gonna go on to executive session to discuss.

44:441

Lot to return to.

44:460

So we'll I know all about it.

44:472

Oh, I think

44:484

I'm not

44:490

even gonna read that. Okay. We're gonna go into executive session

44:531

Not to return.

44:530

Not to return to open session, but I need a roll call vote. Nick?

45:000

Karen?

45:01 – 45:210

I know, but you still have to say Yes. Going in. Alright. In returning, Bob? No. Allegedly. Allegedly. Joanna? Yes. You're gonna hang around with us? And I said yes. So thank you very much everybody out there, and we're done.
