Okay, you're good. You're live. No.
at the end of the morning.
Thank you, Jackie. Yes, gentlemen. I don't have any. President. Charles.
OK, is it? Charles, Jackie. Yes. Geraldine.
Yes. Yes. Justin.
And Omar. And Felicia. Present.
Who's not coming?
Trinette, right? Trinette, Madeline, Fiorella. Oh, Fiorella.
And Suzanne, I think, was going to try to connect on. Oh, yeah, she did. I don't know.
Yeah, but it's just a nice point.
Yeah.
Do we have any comments? I don't see anyone online. There are additions and deletions. I was going to bring up the topic, but we'll discuss it. Well, you broke the set up. I got it. Review approval is not applicable. Because all business is fine. Here's my update.
And so I'm going to go through as quick as I can just have a rundown of the event. And we're going to talk when we get the police presence begin to press that And then we'll start selecting performers. OK. So as announced, Senator Rene Garcia is providing the stages, although I've had some trouble getting in touch with them recently. So I'm going to keep working on that. Sound and lighting is being provided by Sound and Lighting Events Corp. So we have sound and lighting at $800. DJ Dennis will be at the community stage for $625. And so community stage will only need like, you know, music to be played for the dancers or that kind of thing. They don't need a full sound suit. Community stage performers right now, we have Highlighted Gardens High School Troops 7474, Miami Dance City, Ballet Etudes, Main Street Players, B.B. Hart's Performing Arts, and Gigi's Dance Academy. Oh, you got Gigi? Yeah. Okay. Sponsors so far, Molina, Ana G. Mendez University, myself, AT&T, Miami Lakes Bar Association, md body shop and our headline sponsor um headquarter toyota thanks to elsa and in-kind sponsors um so renee garcia is doing stage the marlins will be at the event um giving out things and um uh billy will also supposedly be there as well okay um With a sombrero. Hopefully, yes. We're going to have to get one.
I like that.
Bimbo Bakery will be handing out Takis. Bimbo Bakery. Let's do Jerry. That's her. What is it? Yeah, that's my granddaughter's husband on the bakery.
They make for Entenmann's and all, you know.
Yeah, yeah.
Zoo Miami is confirmed as of today. They'll also be there doing activities with the kids and giving them time to make . Miami Balloon Garden is going to be doing an arch for us into the kids zone area and some other little things. Miami Children's Museum is also participating. We'll have exactly what they're doing next week too. Miami Children's Museum, that's good. food vendors, Chalas, Aceh Express, D.B. 's Bakehouse, Sergio's, Luigi's Cebo Argentino, empanadillas pr um vitanga nika power and la madre bread is what we have right now obviously those la madre bread it's like uh they they make bread but they put like different kind of things in it like they guava and stuff okay oh that's nice is it the lady from nicaragua answer that's the one fitan fitanga power yeah yeah she's gonna be yeah yeah she's very good okay Vendors 305 Vibe, Arroz con Mango, Carmi's Garden, Madeira Bags, Barbara Ramojo, Coral Turquesa Accessories, El Chimichurri de Manny, Liz Couture, Sally Smith Watercolor Originals, Latreya's Cottage. And then there was two more today that came in that looked like they would work, which was, I don't remember. There's two more there. So far, out of those, vendors of four have paid. The rest have not paid yet. So I'm considering until they pay, they're not 100%. Exactly. The Grams confirmed last week the old La Estrella location for the artist displays. So that's good. So the artist guy that I've been speaking to is putting together the list of artists that are going to be displaying their art within there. And each artist will be paying $100 to display art in there as well. Wonderful. Country tents, right now we have obviously each individual team member, committee member responsible for the tent. Spain is Felicia, Peru, Phil, Colombia, Elsa, Mexico, Suzanne, Uruguay, Jackie, who I've heard some good things from Jackie. Dominican Republic, Charles, I also heard some work in there, and Honduras, Omar. The KidZone, we have, we started looking, sir, how are you? Omar's here. KidZone, the passport separation, we've been looking into that. Zoo Miami, like I mentioned, is confirmed, and Miami Children's Museum is confirmed. Some expenses, so obviously we talked about lighting and sound is we're at 3,300 plus the DJ for the community stage, which is 625. We have a cleaning crew that we need as well. It's gonna be 744. And then the other aspect is the police presence and the MOT, which is to close down the street. And I'll end it off here.
And also, this seems to me like it's a pretty decent size event. Felicia was saying that you were given already a number.
They were given a number that Felicia said are needed. Some people say you don't need that money.
So we, yeah, we spoke to, obviously we spoke to, we've been meeting with the Grams and we've been meeting with Chellas as well because they do a lot of events there too. So, and I don't know how much you know in terms of what we're doing. So we're taking over the front of Chellas and the lot that's right next to Chellas and in front of that lot. And then like here. Yeah. And then crossing the street. into the La Estrella section all up in front of La Estrella.
The closed restaurant. The closed restaurant.
Oh, yes, right here. Yeah, so it's those two, and that's why the MOTs needed to close down the section in between the two parcels.
I mean, if this is bigger than Cinco de Mayo, from the volume of location, Cinco de Mayo requires around eight parcels. And what happens is if this was at the park, like if this was at Brethren's Park, there would be six at least, you know. So that's why I'm thinking that the number six was a number that was given because just out of the blue, just knowing now what I know about the, it sounds like an appropriate number. As as a minimum, because you have to look to kind of locations, you're closing out the stream. You have a lot, you know, again, we don't know how many people are going to show up because a new event, but It's, it's one of those where, where you have to assume that you're going to have a decent crowd because of all the areas that you're encompassing. Yeah.
I guess when we spoke to, um, cellos and the grams, they both felt like if we had, you know, two to three cops and then the recipe private security that would cover the needed, um, obviously cops are more expensive.
Um, but.
Not saying it's not needed, just more time.
So bringing that up, what I'll do is I'll bring it back to my side and then see if that's something that can be mitigated and come back because definitely that's something that's done too. But again, the way I'm looking at it is if we were doing this at the park, this is a nice, decent-sized event like the ones that we have at the park. minimum six and probably even more because we try to do every single quarter, you know, but that's why I see the number as not, you know, I don't see it as an extravagant.
Can I just tell you my concern that I've seen because my husband does all the events in downtown throughout different place. I know. But he has to pay for cops every single time because it's a requirement. And I've been at the events and the cops stand together and congregate and don't do anything in terms of actually looking around and actually. And that's my concern. If we're paying for cops, I want to make sure that the cops are actually, you know, patrolling and actually doing something rather than hanging out together. Well, I tell you, we've had. I'm not speaking about you because I'm just thinking about what I've seen in these events and that tends to happen. And I feel like if we're going to be paying for cops, we want to make sure that we're actually getting the benefit of it.
So, you know, to try to mitigate those things in that way, because that is something that can happen, right? Everybody kind of tries to like get together and just, you know, and our job is really Back up, back up. So at least there's always at least two guys together. So it is a culture to stay together, but in trying to mitigate that, and I can only refer to the park because the park is where we have most of the events because of stuff like that. Okay, so we're going to have this event. All right, what are we doing? And it's, you know, one car here, one car here, one car here, one car here. We have one person there by that car. We have a person there by that car. Or we have two people that are closer to the stage. We have two people that are closer to this. And then, yeah, you have the two guys together's but they're at opposite ends of the location. And that's, you know, normally I would do at the park, which I'm looking at this as the park because we have so much to do with that. And it's kind of, well, you could kind of move the stuff around a little bit and we could do, it's the same here. And that's what I'm thinking. You're closing off the street. You have two on that side, you have two on that side, and you have two. kind of in the middle. And that is like a perfect... Yeah, that's honestly my only thing.
I mean, we have it in the budget now that we can do it. We didn't have it a couple of days ago. A couple of days have changed. I have a question.
I know we're going to block. It turns from 67 into mainstream. It's going to be a lot. Where is it going to be? Behind Shella's? Oh, yeah. So, yeah, right.
That will be open, yeah. It's just, it's right up to the behind of Shella's right there and then right at the beginning of the street.
Yeah. And then Officer Armador, a question. Is there any chance that because this is an event that is being done by the town, that the police might give us a break on the cost?
That part is directly with... We already met with the lieutenant this week, and he confirmed the pricing of this. Okay, okay. Yeah, that part is definitely out of my pay grade, is through the town and however they configure that. Because, yes, there are things that are...
He did provide, because I did explain the concern of you, It's costly. So he said, yes, but that's because you guys are closing off the street. That's really what brings the higher costs here. Because as you mentioned, cellos, he said that even with cellos, sometimes they can get away with less, but because they keep it to one side. The problem is that we're now crossing off.
So let's assume that being the case, to do the math, right? The law versus security. First, what would be the difference, right? Brow. It's $75 per.
Yeah, the hourly rate isn't what changes. It's just how much.
No, he's talking about private security. Right.
$75 versus $30. How much are we going to be saving? It's $75 versus $30. So it's $40 per hour times six. It's $250. and $40 times five hours.
Well, I can guarantee you that they're not going to approve the permit if you don't have PD.
Yeah. No, no, no. But what I'm trying to figure out is if the difference was not a lot, I'd rather sacrifice part of the budget and have PD.
you know, the reality is we need, the question is not, do we need police? Cause we need it. You never know the reality. You have to prepare for anything that can happen. If you don't have that, you know, you don't know.
So what I'm trying to say is that, you know, I'd rather, I'd rather go with the PD, no matter what the cost is. We might be able to get some security extra for, um, IDing HH limit for drinking if anyone. So we don't have to deal with that. So Shells has their own security.
So, well, that would be if they hired security for that night. For the outside. Yeah. Which I don't, I don't foresee that. Okay. Yeah. They haven't, they didn't tell me anything about them hiring security. They just told me that when they do these events, they normally just do private security. So, so, just do shellacized with you know i mean they do they do have a big lot of you know because really i think it looks great for the whole idea we won't fit we won't fit no because you have to think about a kid's own being the two stages the tents the different countries the different countries there's a lot of different things so it won't fit on one side you want no no And really the difference is that it's so small because what they suggested when we said one of the option of just doing the cello side was removing one police officer. Yeah, totally.
Even the artist going into the restaurant. That's the two sides already.
Correct, yeah. So, yeah, no, we definitely need... It is what it is unless...
I have another question. If we, you know, try to, let's say... So many, so many things.
Okay, I've taken measurements and I haven't laid out. Yeah, because even on one side, you can fit that one side would challenge. You can fit like up to 35 pence.
10 by 10 Nice, especially north.
Oh yeah, you don't realize it. Yeah, it is. The other side is going to be primarily the kids zone area with the like Zoo Miami, the community, Miami Children's Museum, what's that? Community. Oh, community stage, yeah. Community stage. Thank you. Yeah, it's going to be mostly those kind of things, more here to the kids and then the art exhibit.
We're going to close the street or are we going to police cars? to block the way. What street? The street that hits this one right here. One that comes from Main Street. Main Street from 6th and 7th to this street.
Yeah, Main Street to the back of Charlotte. That's what the MOT is for. It's to block off that main street. With no cars.
I mean, I don't know how they're going to do it. Yeah, usually that would be one car, one car. Right. And that, like, I already know those cars for sure have to go. And plus the visual is perfect because you have one Right smack Main Street on 67. Correct. Where people are passing by and you're seeing that car right there. And when they park, you're seeing they have to walk by the car as another reminder that the police is here to get to the location. Right. Right.
Justin, may I ask a question now concerning the tenants? You said something about, for instance, I'm doing your way. And you said responsible for the tent. What does that mean?
The vendors?
No. Okay. Like if I'm doing girls.
Oh, okay. So for, you mean for our countries that we're doing the bank. So for that, that's hopefully we should have it in the budget to pay for the tents for each of our countries to be in there.
Yeah.
And tables. Yeah. That all chairs and all that will be in there. How many tables are needed? Yes. That I don't have this yet.
I don't have all these files.
Yeah, so I was thinking for each country would be like a six-foot table with the two chairs for their country, and then they can put whatever they want to display on there. They can hang stuff from the tent or whatever like that.
Maybe there's a way to have more than one table in one tent. This is possible, yeah. So that two countries, maybe, if you don't have one, you can share it. Oh, we could share. And then I'm very big.
Hypothetically. Do you want me because I'm responsible for volunteers in Uruguay? Do you want me at the tent?
Yeah, so the idea is going to be a. a committee member with their country, but also to have a volunteer to be with you so that if one of you needs to use the restroom or something like that, you have somebody there and then you have somebody with you the entire time.
And is it mandatory or just a nice thing if someone from the council had showed up from your way? That's not mandated, is it?
No, it's not mandated. Yeah, if they wanted to come, that's wonderful.
That would be wonderful. But you do want
me at that position because the idea is that the kids are going to be in the kids zone they're going to decorate their passports and they're going to go to the different countries and go to you and get which we looked at two things it could either be a sticker from that country or a stamp from the country on their passport so they learn a little bit of something of another country I do too it's just the problem is finding stamps for all the countries is the harder part are we giving the are we passing out at some place position
the passports to the children or do they get it at the table in your at the kids zones they're going to get the passport and they can go to the individual country or human that would be like the headquarters another thing is um as far as sponsors headquarters toyota like you know one yeah a tent did we order our tent yes let me know when you want to pass by to see it it's in boxes and mary collins Okay. Oh, good. So we're thinking, why don't we use that tent for headquarters Toyota? For sure.
You're going to probably want a tent for, you're going to want a table for us at the event, correct?
I have a tent in the storage room. Oh, you do?
I've never used one. Okay. I've seen a lot of events from the headquarters Toyota, and they have plenty of tents that are set to do it. That's what I thought, too. I'm surprised that they don't want to bring their own.
She said tent and tape.
Are they paying for the $250,000 or the $1,000?
They're paying $2,000.
So they're the profit. Yeah, I'm surprised they don't want to use their own tax. I also don't. I'm surprised they don't want to show cars either. Yeah, yeah. I could ask him. Ask him again and just say, do you want to use your own tent that has your logo and stuff on it? I'm sure they have.
They bring it out for the 5K. They're the presenters for the 5K and they bring out cars that are branded. And they bring out the tent that's branded.
Yeah, that's why I was surprised when the carrier told me. Oh, right.
That sometimes happens with the cars, you know?
It was mentioned before, it's the security.
It's the security of the car. You're responsible for that car.
Oh, no, that's where the personnel is there, though.
Yes.
That's what I'm saying. Maybe they're not. Are they going to be attending?
They're going to pass out. They're going to pass out. Because she's in headquarters. There's another lady that's in charge of events. And that's the one I think that we need. Did you talk to Judy? It wasn't Judy. It was Emily. It was Judy. It was Judy. It was Judy.
Judy is the person.
But she was out of town by the time. Yeah, that's why we never got a hold of her. We went right into Executive Elizabeth, who took the place of Amanda. Yeah, so she went directly with the owners. And then they went to a Judy to get it approved. So I don't know if that's the same Judy we're talking about.
Yeah, that's a big Judy.
Okay, yeah. you want me to copy okay only copy money yeah okay yeah yeah copy me because i do also she's the one that's been doing that yeah okay and see because i know that they have a girl that's that event and she takes care of all of that whatever you know brochures are going to bring or or whatever t-shirts or giveaways giveaways You think they're going to need two tables? They're going to need two tables for sure.
So the main street between Telas and the house, what are we intended to do on the street?
As of now, there's nothing there. I had originally intended for whatever car dealership to be there to display cars there because that's what I envisioned would look best, have cars in the center.
And again, that's exactly what I was thinking because that kind of compensates the pain of higher sponsorship fee. They could take advantage of that. And the new cars are really nice too, very colorful.
They had a choice between the 3,000 the grant car sponsor. And then they saw on the list they had the preferred sponsor. So in the preferred sponsor, they came back to us and said, we'll do the preferred. We're not going to do the car grant sponsor. However, we want to have exclusivity for the car. And I said, well, but in that category does not include displaying a car. So that's where the difference came. So Justin and I were on the same conversation. He tried to convince them or $1,000 to the car grant sponsor. Yeah, because it's a display for cars, and then you get to display people.
But they said no, they were not interested in bringing the car. So what I would say, we can try with them, is just tell them, look, since it's our first year putting this together, we're going to allow you to, if you would like to, bring a few cars to display.
I would say between two and four.
Ideally, it adds something to the event. It doesn't take away from it.
Exactly. Exactly.
And, yeah.
And say that they have to make a point that the car has to be manned by their people. Yeah, yeah. That's the key. When they do our things, they do not. They just leave us the car.
Oh, no. Someone needs to have the keys to move it. Yeah, they're going to us. The police, the cruisers will be blocking the street. Toyota, Toyota, people.
Yeah.
67 and other cruisers are going to be blocked.
The key here is, if they have their people, then they take the car that night, or are they leaving the car overnight?
That's why we're investigating. That's something from 4 to 9. The theater, this is on a Saturday. Yeah. The theater opens till 10. I'm sure that the general manager is going to assign something.
Why don't we do it like this? We can present it to them, ask them, because you're going to ask them about the tent anyways. ask them if, say, we spoke, we had a meeting today, and we spoke about it, so this is our first year doing this event outside. First year doing this event outside, we think it would be beneficial to have cars displayed, and we're giving you the opportunity to display.
It's a nice incentive from us to them, because they do participate in our events.
Let me continue with the question. That car is coming on Saturday. Is that car going to stay here until Monday? No.
I wouldn't even give them the opportunity to do that. I would just say...
But we have to be responsible for that car. That's right.
Every other festival that I've seen that has had cars displayed, they always have two to three people from the car dealership there. And then they take the car away. Right.
I think they should... I think as an incentive from us to the history, I think it would be nice for us to say, you paid $2,000, we still want you to bring the car to give you that.
I think it's worth a shot to say what they say.
And your own time. I see it all the time when I'm on Palmeiras.
So are we able to, so are we good on that we've discussed the police aspect and that we can move on to starting to select performers because it's 6.36?
Okay, cool. Is that okay? Have you guys properly motioned before where the lease falls?
No. Do we need to?
Yes. No, I need to get direction from you guys.
Can we do it in a subcommittee?
No. If it's voting, it has to be special call or regular meeting, which is next week.
So we're voting on the approval of the 2250 for the police. Is that correct?
I need to double check. Okay. I think it's five. Six or five?
If the veteran's card uses six and it's enclosed, this is a little...
It's 2,125. They're saying 4,250.
1,250. 1,250.
1,250.
It's a small amount for what it is. I think it's a proper, you know, it's not overdone. Yeah, I think it's not.
They're actually saying five. They said five on the email. So we'll go with five.
One sergeant. Okay. For a total.
How many cruisers was that? Everybody has a cruiser. So it will be four cruisers. Marking the streets. the other corner, and then the sergeant will find a spot in that corner.
He gave us the breakdown. One deputy blocking Main Street from 67 to the back of Chella's. One deputy in the area of La Estrella, one sergeant supervising the event, two deputies from Chella's area.
And everybody brings their cars, so when... Usually, is this a new event? So we're not sure of where things are. So it'll be, all right, when we show up, maybe we have to move a car. This is not the car, but then kind of strategically place them after.
Before we told this, you guys will be actually giving the MLT, essentially. We won't have those guys come out. You guys will execute whatever. They need any extra support, they'll have Public Works bring out some equipment.
We also have clones and we have, you know,
if we have a provider it comes for a no every per every deputy and the sergeant will have a car yes the two cars is just gonna when he's not gonna put they're not gonna put all five cars down the main street and they're one on each end right and then the toyota will be pedestrian friendly
They have to be, you know, walking around cars. I don't know.
It has to be everybody, too, that since we're, you know, it's, again, it's a new event. But when being there, okay, so everything's a certain place. Okay, we'll strategically place a car so it's not, you know.
Right, it could be vertical, like one car can block the two streets.
Yeah, I don't think we need to discuss that. Yeah, I'm going to assist you guys more weekly, because I think at this point we're being repetitive. I think you guys just take it for a vote, whatever the motion is.
I make a motion to approve the 2250 for the police presence. Five. Five. That's what the email said.
Oh, five, please. So, that's a motion. I second it. Discussion. Discussion. We've discussed it. I know we're short of money, but I think we should get six.
No, I think five is plenty. So let's just go with the current motion.
The motion said five.
Yes.
Okay. That's what he said.
So just so we're all clear, the current motion is for their suggestion of four deputies and one sergeant out of all five. So right now, I mean, if you disagree, just don't vote on that.
Right, right, right, right. usually the bare minimum i gotta say usually the bare minimum is is good you know what i mean like so let's say this is this year it you know you realize that oh my god this is guy ocho type and you have three thirty five hundred thousand people show up well the next year now we know that you know this is not gonna be five it's gonna be ten okay you know what i'm saying but at least for what it for what it's bringing It seems like this is going to be fine. And of course, because we are not sure, and this is the very minimum, if something were to happen and more people are necessary, the apartment is going to take in the cost because this one's already approved.
Because we're expecting like a thousand people, between 500 and a thousand people.
Thank you, Robin. You know, hundreds of people show up to events, little events all the time. That's it.
And this is going to be, because it's on the streets, People are going to be coming. You know, they're going to see. You don't find it.
But we have to move on because we can't get it.
Who seconded? Everyone in favor? Aye. Against? If you guys like, I can email and see if we can get the comfort dog.
This is not an added cost. because those are very popular, the Comfort Dog, and or if you want to, the horses. I can email them. And again, no cost to you guys.
Super. Yeah, no, good.
Thank you. Can we get the camel, the three wise men from Cayocho?
The horses?
I mean, I'll send it out. What's the worst? You can say, no, we're having an event or something. I know that for that night stuff, it's harder for the horses, but not for the dog. The dog takes one.
Oh, okay.
That's a good idea.
At least one sombrero for a voice.
Here we go. I think you may have to individually click. Let's see. The first one.
That's as simple as going in my closet.
I love it.
I love it.
Okay. So this is, you can just press X and I think it should allow you to play. And I just unmute.
What was that?
On the screen. There you go. There, right.
Is that what it was?
This is . Oh, my God.
Oh, my God. Yes. Sorry, keep going.
Thank you so much, everyone. So this is called, they're called- Forward your emails, Wilson.
Yeah. Yeah.
That's called Mexico and Lafayette. So they're- They are personally .
270 for 30 minutes. 270 for 30 minutes. Do you want me to keep going? Hold on. So that was the mariachi. So it's 270 for 30 minutes and then 370 for 45. I thought 30 minutes was more than enough.
Which one is that?
They're called Mexico and La Piedra.
Okay, that was the first one. Yeah, that one.
So this is Patio Villagra and Helena Fernandez, the chair.
Yes. Yes. They are charging $600.
Yeah, 600. 600 for around 30 to 45 minutes.
Yeah. And they'll interact with the group. If anybody wants to take pictures that they want to learn a step, they'll interact. Very personable. Yeah, they are so nice.
The next one is Los Hermanos Succa, which is a frugian band that we had last year. I mean, very. Yeah. Right. Yeah. They're charging five feet for a five-feet band for 45 minutes. For how long?
For 45 minutes. 45?
Yes. And they were very good. Then, which one's the next one? Cuba? Oh, this, yeah. This is Melodia y... What was it called?
Melissa de Cruz o Melodia y Rumba. Yes, it's a man.
600 for 45 minutes.
The next one is Spain. Oh, yeah. So this is Frank. So I think I was thinking about to break down some of the answers. So we can see how much and he's only charging $665. An hour. So he's very inexpensive.
Yeah. And he's been with us before. Yes. I see. Inconsistent branding.
This is one that I have performed at Main Street. And he originally wanted $1,600, but he lowered to $800 today for me. Wow.
This one here is more of a variety of different Latin music.
Is that the last one? This last one, he's doing flamenco, Latin jazz is what his thing is kind of considered. Obviously, all of these we're not going to be able to book because we don't have the budget or the time. How many do you need?
Flamenco, Latin jazz is 800.
This is a guy named . This Columbia is $800. And it's for $5,000. But he's like a singer. Yeah, he comes across a little bit more urban, but he also has, and you see in the next one, he sings Cumbia. Cumbia, I have to look. Well, I hope you can, because I We're able to just select these today, right? Yeah.
As long as you guys are proving the expense.
Yeah. Okay.
How much is the budget for the report?
Well, that's the other thing. So once we kind of select, once they're all kind of like reasonable, so we're saying about between four and five. Okay. So you're going to want to leave it on to be that I thought I got one. be what people like a Cuban would expect, right? But that's the Cuban. Then you're going to need someone who's more like the, you know, Colombian. You want to try to change things a little bit.
Yeah.
The thing is, I'm thinking Colombian, even though they have great salsa, I think for the event, Colombia should play Vallenato. Salsa singers should represent Cuba and Puerto Rico. Spaniards, flamenco, and so forth. Peruvians, they play their one, you know, their type of music. But we don't want to have a Colombian band playing salsa.
And Cubans playing salsa.
And Cubans playing salsa. And another part of the country playing salsa. So, like, one salsa band represents a lot of people because Venezuelans, they're pretty good in salsa. They have Gaita, which is very Christmas, you know, Gaita is very, that's a Venezuelan thing.
Yeah, I had those when we did Venezuela.
Okay, so can we, let's try to do this organized, and rather than just going, so are we all okay with the Mexican mariachi band for 270, 30 minutes? Yes, mariachi.
Mexico and La Pied.
Mexico and La Pied.
Are you going to do motion by motion? Yeah, because some people may say yes to some. So then just make motions. I mean, if people approve it or they don't.
Okay. Or whoever wants to move on.
It's up to you guys.
And that's the $270 for 30 minutes for performers. All right.
Okay.
So I make a motion to approve Mexico en la piel for $270 for 30 minutes for performers.
Second. Absolutely. Everyone in favor?
Aye.
Okay. So we have Mexico Any names? No names.
That's an easy one.
Yeah, Mariachi. I'll share that. Oh, yeah. Thanks.
Next man. The next is . OK. So .
So now I'm going to forward it to you guys so you guys have it. Hit his email with all the ones we showed today. OK. The next one.
Well, the next one I have on this was Frank Valley, which I thought about breaking up, you know, some of the dance groups on the community stage because he doesn't need a big setup. It's just him. So that would be something that we could put up a mic up to him.
Yeah. Right off. Yeah.
Guitar. That would be Spain. Spain. That's the one.
Let's go back. Argentina. Did we approve that one already? No. No. No.
So Spain would be the guitarist Frank Valley for $65 an hour. I thought, and Adam, we don't even really need him for an hour, to be honest. So I even thought if we paid him for an hour, maybe he can do break up one thing and then come back again and break up another. Yes.
Yeah. That would be excellent. That's a good idea. Second. Okay.
Together. Aye. Aye. Second.
We have a document.
You're doing motion.
Yeah.
We approve Frank Ballard for $65. Okay.
Now the next one is... Okay. The one on my list was Teen Toe. Did people like him as representing? That was the one that was Tinto. That was. Tinto?
Was he the real?
He was. He was the one that was more like a blonde bean. That's what he wrapped it like. That was this one.
Tinto something. Tinto.
The one that was a mix that he had the urban and the art. That one?
Yeah.
So he did this. That one. That one is. That and this. He does both.
Yeah, that one I like.
he's both he's both yeah so i guess you could just give him direction on what you want you want more i mean he has a set of what how many songs i mean he would be performing for around 40 minutes and how much he thinks the one he wanted um 880 and the other band that place about another place Yeah, it's just now the thing that could be that we make the direction we can say he's going to probably this seems like more of what he's doing now is more of this. Okay, so let's hold off on him because it sounds like he's okay. Yeah. In terms of like salsa music, I think there's a couple that were similar, which would be Latin Time, Melissa Cruz and Melodia Irumba, and Mega Band.
I think Melodia Irumba.
She's a younger set, and she looks like she's good.
Like those at the beach?
Yeah, that was at Hollywood Beach, I think.
Oh, yeah. 600.
Yeah, because it's probably three of them, no? Or four of them.
It's a group of three. Six. Six? Yes.
Oh, yeah. One. Yeah, one.
Right there is five. Five, yeah, it's in the back. Okay. I like her.
Yeah.
Let's second them. Okay. I like her. Are we seconding that one? Yes. Yes.
In favor?
Aye.
Aye. Aye.
Yes.
We're missing Argentina and Colombia. Okay.
Let's do this one. Okay.
okay so then we have next oh so claudia uh uh yeah are they going to be sick
Do you want to hear what we did on Tina?
They'll talk probably a little bit about what they do and that kind of thing.
Very good. Very professional.
Okay, so we are approving of them?
Yes. All in favor? Aye. So we have one, two, three, four.
Frank doesn't really count for a main stage.
Who?
Frank, which is the guitarist. Yeah, he's going to be on the side.
So we have three for this thing.
Yeah.
So then we have, which are the other ones?
We have Peru, which is Peruvian.
The one that came, that did Peru, right? That's fine. I like it because they're very typical, you know, something, yes. I know, I know. And the way they dress and everything, you know.
Teach people. Yeah, we're all like, but we have different cultures.
Yeah.
And that's the whole idea of what we did. And that's the one that is 550. 550, right?
He's 550 for 45 minutes. I said Manos Suka was 550. Okay. Yes, 550.
Five piece band, $5.50, $40.
Yeah.
Okay.
I second that one.
Okay, in favor? Aye. Okay, the last one will be Colombia. The guy played the band by himself.
The what? The what?
The Colombia. Oh.
That was Tinto.
Tinto, but is that the name of the band?
That's the name of the band. Well, Tinto, the artist. $380. Yeah. So how much do we have so far?
So we have 600 for Melissa, which is Melalia.
600 for the dango. The mariachi is 270. 270.
Peru is 550.
And Melania is 600. Right, so we have 600, 270, 550, and 600, right?
600, 270.
550 and another 600.
That's 2020.
Yeah. That's it, I think.
How much do we have? That's been bought from so many performers.
Plus $65 for all the guitar guys. Right, right, right.
So we have 2085. And I think we went over this. How much do we have there, Laura?
You have the money first.
So I counted with what we're spending on the police, MOT, lighting, sound, DJ, cleaning crew. That's at $71.69. And then we have $2,085 here. We have a $6,000 budget from the town. And then we have $2,000 from the main sponsor plus the other sponsors, which is we have $4,100 in sponsorships now. So we have it. um obviously there's other costs involved that we have to think about like we're going to get chairs rented for the for the stage and then also signage for where people need to park you know so they're going to have signs where there's to leave the parking to the side and then also on the old side of main street we need a lot of signage and you're talking about that uh
The Ale House? The parking area?
No, there should be more than enough parking. And you have a garage too.
Yeah, you have the garage. There's more parking.
The Gramps weren't concerned about the parking area. They were just saying that they wanted to make sure that we had proper signs so people knew where to lead them to parking.
So that's why I asked for about $16,000. But volunteers cannot be too direct.
Okay, so I can get ready.
We are like the main area. I mean like adults. Yeah. I would top other committees. That's kind of what we do for the parade.
Okay, that's easy.
Like I can connect you with a couple of them if you want or if you want to go to the meetings, let me know and I'll tell you when they are. So follow the signs. Yeah, marking the people around here.
Believe me, they find place. Because with our festival, they find the place too far. You know?
Yeah, it's like a little parking around the area.
So... Did you decide on the Colombian group? Is there a Colombian group?
I don't think you guys, like, loved him, so... I think that his genre... Oh, that's the one that we didn't... That was the one in there, too. Which one do you want to watch? That was... I think it's... Cow or something. Okay. Okay.
What are you looking for?
Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool. Cool.
How much do they want?
800.
How much?
800.
And how many people are there?
Three. Do they have another song? Because it sounds like a Cuban group. That's Spain.
I don't know. Yeah, no, we're fine. Yeah.
Very good.
And he does. You guys should just put motions forward because they're not. Yeah.
If somebody wants to motion it, if not.
Do you guys like that? That would be our last one, I would say, for time-wise, too.
Just put the motion in if they don't want to.
Okay. Motion to approve for our scheme.
That's the one that's $880. $880. 800 is there a second word yeah 800 yeah but they're not going to be playing that all the whole time like that right they got to play something else Right. I could actually, it sounds like.
No, you only give me one for that one. You'll give me one. This is the same. This is.
This is the one that I said that before we did that mainstream.
It's a DJ and he does, which is what we wanted to do in the theater, which is Latin jazz. I mean, Latin music, Flamenco jazz.
His email said Flamenco jazz.
I think that was what I played.
This includes
I'm going to bring you guys back to the motion because now we're going to keep going off time.
Why is it so expensive?
All in favor?
So either, I'm going to call it. Aye. All in favor? Right now, if you say, wait, wait, I'll repeat the motion. If it's an aye, you're approving the $800 grant. I'm sorry, Susan?
Yes.
$800 for the one we just played, which is Cuauhtemoc, right? Yeah. Okay. So if you vote aye, you're approving. If it's nay, you're not approved. All right. All the ayes, raise your hand. Nays?
Nay.
Okay. So just in your minutes.
So maybe what we... Can we prove like a certain amount not to exceed for the last performer? And then we find if somebody else finds something that maybe represents another country that they want to.
That's good. Is that okay? That's good. $800. Right now I have a motion. Hold on. I want to make sure. Let's finish with one motion. Name. Just so you have it for a minute. Name. You have to name Omar and Elsa.
The motion passes by majority then.
Well, he can make a.
Again, what is it called? Amendment.
I mean, it sounds like not everybody's on board, so I'd rather you guys be happy with it and everybody else was happy with the other things. So can we say not to exceed, let's say not to exceed 900 for the last performer. And then we can select, like we're going to have to do it like soon. So if you guys have somebody that you want to kind of bring on board.
I'm sorry, but I'm not following.
The motion I guess would just be to... to approve a last performer not to exceed $900.
But that last performer isn't co-worker. No. Okay, so then that's separate. So there's already approved and then we're moving.
Okay, okay. No, no, no, no. So he wants to do another motion. So now you want to cancel. Cancel, yeah. Whatever it's called.
Amend, amend.
Amend because I'd rather you guys be on the same floor. So we're not going through. We're not going through.
You guys don't need motion. You don't need it.
Everybody was on board for all the others, and this is the only one that you're not. So I'd rather it be that everybody feels better about it. And I think it's just because everybody feels like it's not culturally expressive enough. So I think everybody kind of wants something more... which is fine. So let's just, can we do that? Let's make a motion to, okay, can we make a motion to approve the last performer not to exceed $900 to represent a, I wouldn't say a specific country.
But does that mean that you're just, does that mean that you're just not selecting it right now? Essentially?
Yeah, because I don't have anybody else other than the rest of us.
Take away whatever, the motion, and then there's no point in pre-approving something. Just approve it at your next meeting. Okay, so in other words, at the next meeting, we've got to come up with someone to replace it.
I would like to make a suggestion. Is the motion... Yeah, you guys are moving whatever it's called. In the verge of all of what's been going on in Miami and everywhere, I think that we have a colombian band we have already a band that represents the caribbean i think we should get we don't have a colombian band though yes we do colombia no we did not approve okay so so that so that's even better i think um again representing the Venezuelan community, because I looked it up just now.
Cumbia, you want Cumbia.
Is that what you want? Well, it could either be Cumbia that represents kind of both countries because they're neighbors, or we could try to get a group, if it's within the budget, that plays Gaita. Gaita is very... It represents family. It represents that with Gaita music for Venezuelans, really it's almost like a Christmas.
I have the Gaita Venezuela. I remember. Remember the one that we brought for Venezuela?
If you want, send me a quote and I'll bring it as part of your next agenda package. We're discussing things that we don't even have.
I know through the file Venezuela. I think that would be nice because we do have a lot of Venezuelans in the community.
Very typical. I just, okay. One of you could bring up both.
Okay, I'll get my own, and then I'll send it to you. Okay.
No, yeah, that. Send it to Justin, you know, let's do that. And then I'll look for the guys from Venezuela. Okay. No, that's it. One other question.
When you send the email to Judith,
You're asking her? I already sent it. Yeah, that's fine. But you sent it about the tent, right? Yes. Okay, you didn't mention a car. Nothing else. So then I'm going to call Emily, who was the one to get the car.
And talk to her about the car, what we discussed here. She says she doesn't have a tent. They don't have a tent that's branded, which is great. We have branded tablecloths that we will bring. How many chairs? And I assume one tablecloth.
Now, the other thing, Justin, you know, from my experience with our festival and everything like that, The weather in Miami, you don't know. Not really we'll have good weather. But if we don't, you have to have like a plan B with JJ who has tents because of the stage. I don't think the stage from Rene has...
So the main one is a covered stage.
But is it fully covered? Because I think it's maybe comes out of the middle. You need to get the specs. I know sometimes we take off. But we need to get the specs because I know in the past we've had like the bands will have certain requirements. That's another thing. It's easier when it's just one bank, you know, because it's one requirement they are sending over, but if you don't want to pay, they have to make sure that. Well, some will be like their stuff needs to be covered and things like that.
These are pretty easygoing in terms of the ones that we've chosen are pretty, yeah, we didn't choose anybody. I think some of the other ones may have been more complicated than the ones that we chose. Good. But yeah. Good. The state, that is a point. I mean, the reality is we don't know, but that's why we have to try to get as many sponsors and vendors to participate in this. So we have money to play with because if we have money, that works. The other thing, when you have covers, anything that's over a certain size, you need to get permits for. So if we did a cover over the community stage, we would need a permit for that because of the size of it.
Right. And he would do it. JJ knows how to get those. Yeah. It's just, it'll be a time factor. Time and money. Yeah. Yeah.
Okay. Question. In prior Hispanic events, you guys have had us dress as a group.
Are we still doing the white tops?
Okay. Okay.
So I personally was thinking what would be nice for us all to have Civil War Fest t-shirts made. That's what my idea was to kind of, so again, we all look uniform and then when people are looking for people who are working the event, you have someone who you can go to. But again, everything's costs. So it depends on how much money we have. Once we start breaking down everything and we have some more, then we know what we can play with for fun things. I'd rather wear my shirt and look important.
And if we could get the radio.
He wears it at every meeting.
Yes. It gives me free calm.
Yeah, there you go.
And I know that we have the radios in addition to the... The four of them. I remember that, you know, and I know we do have radios that we can try to communicate, and we still look super cool, you know, talking to each other on the radio.
It's a great idea. They are. If we can do it. All right. I know. Are we good to go?
Is there anything we need right now that we can't wait for next? No, that's all we need. If you don't mind. I wonder how many.
I've been meaning to email you about that. I'll send it to you now. And I'll give you support. No, no, no. I still have about two.
Sponsors table.
Okay, so we have 30 for book talk. Okay, and 154 for support.
Okay, 32 for the book talk, so it went up.
Yeah, and 154 for support.
Okay, the other thing, I want to ask you, did you remove the expiration date? We didn't remove it.
We cleaned it because it was supposed to be for tomorrow, right? I think when we were initially...
It was August 7th.
It was August 7th. I think we said September 4th.
I think we should remove it.
Because then we're just going to be changing it.
And then once we know that we have what we need, we close it. I'm concerned since the people aren't paying.
until they're paid to me they're not a real well that's how so we're all on the same page right that's how we treat people yeah because once you do that kind of obvious once you give them an expiration date then if they look they're going to say oh my goodness the hour before they'll yeah but you know yeah yeah so so quickly because this is how old i went today to the consulate and i was able to speak to the lady who's in charge of events um She was even thinking of sending some typical Colombian, whatever she says, she sends them to H Street, but I think, I don't know, I think it's a little too much. But anyway, she gave me the information for Brickell, which I'm going to reach out to them. That's where I have to go for any literature or brochures or whatever, other tourism. Yeah, Brickell Key. Yeah, not even Brickell Key. So I have all the information, so I'll let you guys know what's at this point, but maybe they can even mail it to us.
I am. I went to the tourist in Spain, and they gave me two bags, posters, so I have seven of the cards. Our table is very colorful. I even have the little sign that says the tourist office of Spain. So he was very... That's why he asked me the address, because he said, where's Main Street? And I gave him a flyer, so as soon as you get... you know, updated flyers, I'll, I'll, yeah.
I don't have the latest flyers. What are you using?
I gave, well, those are the, those are the sponsors that have paid, or, or covered right now.
As I mentioned, we don't put sponsor logos, but they're paying, yeah.
Okay, so basically, Sabor Fest, this is the one that I, you know, as I get closer, I'll send it to him. He was very helpful. He, he remembered us from last time, and, and actually, the poster's even bigger than,
It's going to be nice. Yeah, and I have my two Colombian ladies coming, and they're going to, they have the Colombian flag, and they're even thinking of maybe if I can get carnations donated, that they will be passing out since Colombia is known for flowers. That's nice. I think they just did that at Wynwood.
Yeah, this past weekend was a festival. Yeah, I know. That was my entire system. Yeah, I'm thinking that most of the time.
I am so excited to share with you. I'm really so excited.
Uruguay, after much correspondence back and forth, is going to address you and this address.
and that's what i was advised yeah i just thought i was going to use my name because i was so excited to get it to my home can hardly wait your way is sending at your attention this address all there they're shipping it please let me know the minute you have it in hand that's what i'm hoping with colombia maybe they'll send it how many inches we have The ones that already come from.
So then I can do the same thing. Colombia says they're going to send something.
Spain, Peru, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay, the Republic. I wanted to use my address because I was so excited. But then how are you going to get it here?
No, the thing is it's sponsored by the town. So it's better to do it with the town so they know where they came from.
They knew we were legit. But they were very happy to address me. But Justin and I went along with it.
Beautiful, beautiful.
I'm sorry.
That's beautiful.
I'm so excited. Because I have so many problems with Argentina. Put it right next to the other. Exactly. Oh, yeah.
We have to wish them luck and stuff like that.
This is just the chair.
Next meeting, our next meeting, official meeting is September 9th.
I'm here in this room at seven o'clock, right? Yes. Yes. Seven, 7 p.m. So we're adjourned. Wait. I'm the one that's supposed to say cheese sandwich. Okay, our next meeting is September 9th at 7 p.m. And I make a motion to adjourn our meeting at...
