Yeah, they have singers and everything. What is that? I think it's the Reserve, a National Guard unit in Miramar. They can do all the music and all the patriotic stuff. That's fantastic.

Four times a year, they go to the VA hospital. And they go and they do a barbecue. And so it's pretty, they did the last one on Memorial Day, actually, it went on Memorial Day. And They did a barbecue with them and a bingo. And there was actually a bunch of veterans attended also. They got the motorcycle club from South Com, Southern Command. They have a motorcycle club. And they showed up. Green Knights. And so they showed up as well. And then they brought up meals to those folks who were in the wing where they couldn't even get out of the bed. So I think, you know, They asked if we can give you up to $1,000, but I don't know what we have as far as money goes. What do we have to develop? Anything? Do we have any money?

Right. A new business. All right. I'm veterans banner on 67th Avenue by playing leg way and I'm single post but there's also another issue dealing with the veterans banner. So I'm going to, for the 67th Avenue one, close to Miami Lakeway. The problem with 67th Avenue is that's a county road, state road. Do you need county approval, maybe state approval? I sit on the Military Affairs Board for the county, and I requested that it be put on their agenda for this month, see if we can get approval. If we can, if we can't, say no, please say no. The other issue is, The banners this year were a little messed up. They first put them up, one backwards, one forward. And yeah, I like this tree. I don't think, I can't even see mine, to be honest with you. It's just like behind a tree, you know, probably with a lot of bird poop on it, but whatever. So, And then the other thing was we did the double hang because we wanted to give the high schoolers room, but they're double hanging. And then we find out that the high schoolers basically are all single homes and they're in the most prominent positions. You know, no, I'm not trying to understate the dedication and service high schoolers have done for our country. If it wasn't for high schoolers, I would have made my French fries at McDonald's.

Not you, Officer Evans. So I kind of had that kind of talk with the town about it. And so they came up with what I thought was a good solution. One, they want to put the veterans banners back on individual posts, frames. but they kind of want to split up the time. They only have the high schoolers up there for like a month or two. And so they were thinking instead of us being from May, which is Memorial Day, to Veterans Day, November, we'll be from November, which is Veterans Day, to Memorial Day, the other way around, same amount of time. That way we don't have to fight for room with the high schoolers, you know what I mean? So I think that's actually a good idea. This year, we're going to be up all year long. And what they're going to do is just they're going to start separating us, you know, and give us our own poll, you know, like they used to do. So there's a motion basically to approve us changing the timing of when we put up the military banners from May to November to November to May. as any discussion on that issue. It's a great idea. I think it's a great idea that we wouldn't have to worry about running into the high schoolers and the high schoolers can be everywhere and you know, and everybody, everyone wins.

And the town can save money because when you take the high schoolers down, they can put us up on the same framework.

Exactly right. They can reuse. Absolutely right. So there's a motion on the table to approve the town's request to move our banner displayed from May to November to November to May.

Can you add in it what he said so that maybe the town and all these funds don't get wasted to put new, so the vendor doesn't seize the opportunity to put new stuff up or charges for it or charge the town or charge the committees? I don't, well. Just so it's seen. Okay. In effort to reuse the equipment.

Okay, so let me try to rephrase that. Okay, so motion to approve. A changing of the date from May to November to November to May in order for the town to be able to reuse the equipment that was used for the high school banners or the veterans banners, thereby saving money. Sorry, Ed.

Special Paul, budget meeting, bottom line up front is we basically got what we wanted because we really don't cost anything to the town. We actually bring them money. So that's the bottom line. So they moved all the money around. And one thing that they're going to do and they're supposed to do is they were supposed to provide me or running total of what we have raised so far for the monument. Is that in this budget?

It's been included since you requested it earlier. It's always the last one right here, the 36 on the end of your agenda. Since it's a transfer to parks, it's on the separate, it's on the other side of that budget document.

We're just trying to compete against, you know, Chamber of Commerce people competing against each other. And they'll do like a $350 entrance fee. And I am working on getting a grand prize for the largest catch. And I'm going to try to get a prize for the smallest catch, you know. So I'd like to make a motion that the Veterans Committee support. Yes, sir.

I mean, we started telling people about it, but it's not like it's great yet. I don't really know how much Ruben's impact is. I mean, he does his thing.

Right. I mean, he says that the second team has helped with the event before, I guess, so it wouldn't be people new to it necessarily.

Well, he's not the only race coordinator in town.

I don't know. It's probably the people that come here already. It's just the ones that like work under him. I mean, eventually someday he's not going to come. So I mean, right. Eventually I'm just can't be there either week. So we're going to have to pick something else. So maybe this is a good opportunity to divest our person.

Yes. I make a motion that we have a subcommittee for the monument and this is what the subcommittee would do. First off, we would see exactly where we're at, what's been done so far, what's the town done so far, where are we at in this project? It's gone for five years now, and we've done a lot, but there's a whole lot more to get done. And some of the people like those that will be here, I've already spoken to several of them, are people that worked on the last monument that was put out in front of this building, the people that have been in the origination of this monument, The ones that I think Mike Coop, for instance, who started with the battlefield across some of the other previous council members that have been involved. I would also like to help us get this thing kicked off. We can lobby the right people, get the right group, a team of professionals in here, business people, and work together as a team and prioritize the things we need to get done to do this, to put money, put a timeframe on it. You know, accurate cost of what it's going to do and get this thing done. I'm hoping like get done within the next year. We can be done, but the rate we're going, we're getting things done, but so it seemed like we're moving. It's just, you know, we're just kind of bumping along. If the rate we're raising money, it's, you know, it's not going to happen. We're going to have to get some grant money.

You get grant money no matter what.

There's no way. But having everything in place by the right people. When you present the information for the grant, you know, the fundraisers, the money that's been contributed, the people that have backed it, you know, the people that have co-signed it, endorsed it, all these things light up. And I think it's a lot more. I mean, Bill's got a lot on his plate. And for him to do all this on top of all the other things he does, that's a lot. I think there's a team of business professionals working together and get this done. So I've already got four people in addition to people who are in this room that want to be in this community to get it done. And hopefully we can get this thing to talk and finish in the next year. So my motion is to form a subcommittee to help get this monument completed. I second.

This is one thing. The Council of Affairs is having a Father's Day fishing tournament this Saturday over at the park from 8.30 to 11.00. So if anybody's interested, we usually have maybe 45, 50, just a father, grandson, father, son, father, granddaughter, any combination. They have the largest fish, the smallest fish, the first fish. There's about 10 or 12 categories, and they give them ribbons out to the people. You know, the youngest fisherman, I think, was like four years old last year. And it's catching with each, so. Same place where we had a file book. We used to do that at... Sometimes we go there, but this time we're going back over to the other link.
