If you look at the agenda, I put little red asterisks, which means those are the ones are important that we have to vote on. was uh let's do this that really quick uh sending annual report to the council that was in briefing for you guys. We we met um they basically discussed collaborating with the other committees. So, you know, we don't I mean, there's about I think 46 or events. Um, and then we went over which one were the most attended ones and it was uh Fourth of July was number one. The two was Nightmare on Marros. The Halloween one. Yeah, the Halloween. No,
that's No, wait. Fourth of July was Oh, let let it be known that was uh in uh Fourth of July was number one. Um midnight on Mud Rose, which is the Halloween one, number two, and Spring came out as number three. So those are the three most attended pointing to directives. So um council members Sanchez spoke about you know collaborating not duplicating events and so forth you know things that I've been talking about previously. So um we'll see what how we can collaborate and uh everybody gave their report and so forth. Uh chairman's quarterly meeting that was also in April real quick. Um unfortunately we presented the the request for the man of distinction. it was turned down. It was not approved. So, uh that's we'll see next year we can because you know it was going to be complicated. So, um that was briefly uh any questions on no to vote on this uh old business um Main Street Live. I'm going to give a real quick report on that. We had it very very successful on the April 17th one. It was very well attended. I think it was very lively. Um, a lot of people were dancing and having a fun. Um, next one is this coming Friday. uh whether permitting because this is kind of and uh basically uh one thing that I hope and maybe we can be a vote on this or not is for next year to see if we can allocate some money for for the food for the the right now I've been paying for all the sandwiches and soda and water and so forth. I
for the band. Yeah. For the paying for I didn't know that.
Yeah. I've been paying it. Yeah. Yeah. because the first one didn't need any just four, but the other ones, you know, like bigger. They they uh they want the food. So, uh this one is going to be less expensive because it's only three. So, it's actually um so basically, um I need to know who's going to be there helping out and we're going to set up the table. Um I spoke to uh actually met, uh the the DJ. He's uh he's looking forward to it. So, we can come. It's going to be fun. It's going to be he's going to be performing different kinds of genres of music, Mediterranean, Afro Cuban, and just Latin. So, it's it's going to be a little bit crazy. I told him I asked him if he didn't mind you. I told him crazy. I said, "No, no, I love it." So, um so I look forward to that one. This is the last time the season. So, so please if you can come, just let me know. And then um that's a benefit, huh? Okay. Paint the picture for me.
Yeah. Before we jump through that, just a suggestion for when we do this again, I think it would be helpful if we can um spread out the the um Main Street live events between the members. So maybe we can do like a sign up form who what day people are going to be there. So it doesn't fall on the same members to be there every time. So maybe, you know, we say these are the dates. Um you sign up for what date you can attend. So obviously it's not so much on the same people, you know. I think that will be beneficial for probably not obviously this is the last event, but for the next time we do it, it would have to get started for the next season. Yeah. Yeah. It would be good just because we're all here and we should all be participating as much. Yeah. And after one of us
as a member, you have to attend the events for sure. But I think obviously I know like schedules and stuff. So if someone knows that these are the events, we can all say, "Hey, I can definitely be there at this day to be there to present uh represent for our, you know, committee, right?" So it doesn't, you know, it's a lot. I know you're always there and everything, which is a lot on you. Yeah. Uh to the chair, uh even though I wasn't here last, I'm sorry I wasn't here last month, could you give me a general consensus of why they didn't want to do the father um of the father's
man of distinction of distinction? They they said uh actually one of the council members you can watch the video if you want said we don't need to uh award men they said well the the group wanted to do it so that was one of the comments of the of the council members that we don't need to give an award to to the men. Uh so you know that was they say I'd rather use that money for uh Hispanic heritage and I know somebody wants to use that money for Fourth of July. So, uh, let's see if next year we can try. What did we decide here? Did we bring it up here? We No, we we decided to present it as part of the you remember we did the form. Yeah, but it was a new event.
It was a new event. So, we have to ask permission for it. I explain it. If you look at the package there, there was a package in the one council member said we don't need to do it. And so, the is the new form that we have because
this is the new form that we have to fill out now and basically I tell the end of the section award to honor prominent men in our community uh initial refunding will be used you know the same money so now that money you know it needs to if we do it for the next event it falls in the following fiscal year so I guess it's getting you know but um let's I mean if you want to submit it again we can do it but it's they they're trying to cut down on events that's the thing for the the quarterly meeting they they they say there's too many there's 51 events you know that the town puts together and I can give you the list if you want so they're trying to combine them so fortunately you know that was the first thing you know that's what they said and the council said that you know so unfortunately that's what happened we're still going to do the the Black History Month you know that's you know that we want to do it because I know you wanted to use your money but unfortunately you know let's see how we can what we can do with with that so um okay anything else that we want kind of lost time oh go ahead okay uh the painting picture for mom this year was at the veterans park and we had a total of 42 people attend. Um like always, we had like a hundred um people register on Eventbrite. Out of the 100, only 13 came from the 100.
So that is, you know, incredible. But anyway, uh it came out really nice. Everybody had a great time. The children did a great job. Um I sent all the photos to Linda from the Laker. She was very happy with the photo. She thinks she's going to do a spread uh a page for us. Um I personally liked the pavilion and Veterans Park. It worked out nice. Yes, it worked out very nice. Uh the reason is because if we cannot get the town to bring the tables or the chairs there, they were already there. They already we used the benches which were great.
Um we didn't need chairs other than the three tables which really with two tables was enough. And Oh, plus the water accessibility. The water I brought my the actual counter where the barbecue is. Exactly. To have all the materials before. Yeah, that's very nice. That's what we had. So, it was a nice breeze. Um, uh, you know, I want to thank Juan. Juan was incredible bringing all the boxes and setting everything up with us. Isle was incredible. She was there before me.
Isabella. Isabella was there before me. So, thank you, Isabella. By the time I got there, she was already setting up the water and the juices and everything. Um, so like I said, you know, uh, this time what I did is we had five students from Our Lady of the Lakes help us. We had two high school students help us. One my granddaughter who's been doing it for four years. Um, and I had them do a an inventory of our So now I have an actual inventory of everything that we had. So I was able to consolidate everything into the five black and yellow boxes because one of the boxes that had the canvases was somewhere else and by the time we saw it
we had all the canvases. So the bottom line is next year I don't think we have to order anything except the water for the people and the juices. We're in great shape for next year. Um so here is the uh post event report and the sign uh from the from the adults so that you always keep of course I made a copy for you. Okay. So, um, so then you have the email so that you can send the volunteer hours because the student there from I put down

Well, see, we were we pulled 18 walkouts. So, um, yeah, some of them have I don't know, maybe what we can do, I don't know, maybe extend the event, right? Because you were saying some people were calling that it was closed. So, maybe we should just extend it and not close it, you know, so that people at the last minute want to come, let them come. So, it's much better to Yeah. open it, keep an order. Okay.
Next, um, Pette, Father's Day, Pat, you have an update for us.
Yes. Um, okay. I um I talked to onto he gave me a quote for 635 for the same things that we had last time. The buckets, the oxygen uh little pill, and then the lines bait, um the chips, water, and snacks. Oh, no, sorry. Chips, waters, awards, and the the raffle gifts for the kids. They all came down to $916. We have a budget of 500 from the town and um we were able to get our sponsor that always sponsors the event, Herz Law. He's willing to come in for the difference. Um I asked him if he can come in at 500 even though the difference was like $416 just in case we had a last minute, you know, something change. We have, you know, a little a little leeway.
Um like Elsa mentioned, I know last time we spoke to Isle, she said we couldn't get tables or chairs for this event because it's outside of that. So, we have to um get at least two tables. I have I have a table in my car that I bought. Okay. It's a folding chair. I mean, folding table. I have two chairs. So, if that works, we have one. Okay. We can use that one. And I have an extra one, too. So, I guess that that'll take care of it because at the park, we do have tables that we've used before, but we need one for the sponsor. Table. Yeah, just one. Awesome. Okay. We have one for the We need one for the sponsors. We we use that one and one for the check-in
and that's it. And if we can um have as many as many bodies possible there to help because um I'm trying to get one of my friends to to to sp um to give more attention to the fishing tournament because he's kind of a big deal in the fishing world of social media and he was going to announce it for us. One suggestion that we did one year was the guy from the I think it's a state while he comes in. He's like a policeman and then he was helping the kids with fixing their their rods. I want to see if we can get a hold of him. We have to call him ahead of time because I know the kids love because it's it's from the wildlife uh department of fishing and wildlife
Florida. Florida. Yeah. and they tell them ask them ahead of time and it's good because that way you know they can advertise it too and and so forth. The more the more advertising we have is uh the better because that that event is sort of like uh you know suffering and I to me it was one of my favorite ones. So let's see if we can it's a tradition you know just a picture from Yeah. through the chair. Yes. When we were at that meeting with the subcommittee meeting, remember there's another Yes. fishing. Yeah. They the legion the the the the legions. Yeah. The American Legions.
American Legion. They they do have another fishing tournament which which is not coincide with Father's Day. So, and again the town wants to combine them. Uh because I mean two fishing tournaments. One time I remember the Italy affairs wanted to do a fishing tournament for for the seniors for the seniors. I said just bring the grandpas. It will be a category. So, it's just I don't know why the committee want to just do their own thing when we can collaborate. I don't mind collaborating with other committees. And uh like with the 4th of July, we're going to get everybody involved. Okay. So, that's very important. Um when it comes to fishing licensing, we don't really require them, right?
Yeah. Fishing license is required from 16 to 65. Okay. So if if you fall into that and you're going to be fishing this, the guy's going to be checking. I mean, he's an official. So yeah, from 60 to 65, you require fishing less. So what happens would be fresh water or salt water. Here it's fresh water. Normally when they sign up, they have that um disclosure on on the website. I think when they sign up telling them that they have to sign up for the license like five bucks I think it was less I don't think it's the it's it's yeah for freshwater I don't think it's that much and also they they can sign up on the spot and their phones the ones that have done it like last years they were able to do it right on the spot to get their license
for the ones that are just walkings and it's a fish what is it called passion release so we're not we're not catching the fish to sell it but they still require the Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That's how it makes money. Um Okay. So, I want I want to make the motion then to approve the budget. What's the total? It's um 916 including the the 500 from the town and then we're going to have another 500 from Herz law. 500. So, is a total of I just round it off to a,000. Yeah. So, we're covered then.

July one Juliet. Okay, this is next item is 7D. It's the 200 independence day celebration. We uh we had our subcommittee meeting on the Tuesday here. I think they made May 5th. May 5th.
Well, there we had an extensive Yeah. On how could I forget? Yeah. Everybody gave me I said, "Well, that's what they pick." Um, they look at me. Here we go. Uh, basically, and real quick, uh, the stage was selected, um, for, uh, or actually was the town wanted to do. They were nice enough to to provide us a big stage. uh which was important because the band that we're using for um for this event is um 34 or 36 members. It's a military band. They're going to play all kinds of music. They're going to at one point they're going to wear the uniform. It's going to be very hot that day. But um basically the stage light and sound is going to be done by lightex. Um and if you can read the notes is um they're doing everything. Um we are getting a list from from the band so the the DJ doesn't duplicate um
the music the music we have confirmation that William Perez from the veterans going to be our MC they wanted me to MC doesn't know and the band is the 13th Army band that's the correction on it's the 13th 13th okay army band and they're going to be you you know, they're going to provide us free of charge the national anthem singer. I don't know if it's a woman or a man. And thanks to Jackie, uh, this band is not costing us anything. Nice. So, we're saving we're saving money on on the band. Normally, it's like $50,000.
It's a do I have to redo the minutes to change the name of the band? No. Um, you can send me the update with it, but as long as it reflects in this meeting that I see that army remember that 13,000 13 this is why I listen to our meetings.
They put it and then the pledge of allegiance is going to be done by the American Legion and the veterans committee like they always do. uh the sponsorship letter has been uh provided has been kind enough to spearhead that we already have an official sponsor for the kids sound I think it's member no so we're working on the sponsorship so please let's help Elsa out with names so she can she knows a lot of people but it's good that we get sponsors the more the I mean the category do you have a copy of the sponsor chief pack of chef Email them also.

So, basically these are the sponsor stage sponsors is $7,000,000. The platinum is 4,500. Hit stone is 3500 which we already have. It's only this one is only it's limited to one. The other ones we can have as many. The stage is important because you know wow that is pretty. So Baptist is the kids. Baptist
the silver is 1500 the bronze is a th00and and the deadline is June 18th. And this is the form that you know we can email them to you and you can tell us we don't want to get efforts so people sometimes we bombard people then then they get discouraging and then yeah let me let me let her handle it. She's encouraged of that. So and we also have a confirmation from Miami Automo. He hasn't told me what level. Yeah. as as soon as we get the money and I think Baptist already submitted the money then they become the official sponsor.

Um, we had the gates and I think Gerald being provided the a lot of the stuff she it wasn't a thing.

The food trucks, they provided us preliminary list. You're going to provide us with a updated list. I'm hearing now and Oscar Omar is going to be helping with that. Um I received an email from today regarding um well is the list and the the so basically you know someone has to be there to help Oscar with the with the trucks the setup the setup uh we requested a site plan so we know where everything's going to be uh we're still I guess working on it and Um, Omar said that he had somebody volunteer to do the arch. I like to see it. They probably accept it because, you know,
of course. Yeah. Go ahead. The um I I have the the Instagram page. They're doing it for free. It's um Miami balloons. Um red, white, and blue. Simple red, white, and blue. They could do the the actual art. And also a couple of balloons stands around like columns. Yeah. Like a kind of almost create that imaginary fence, right? To you know, within the area. And they're willing to do that at no cost. is called Miami Miami Gathering.
We also That's Miami balloon garden. Yes. At the meeting, we also discussed having little red, white, and blue lights on the trees to make it more festive. I think this again, I don't know if you can do that, but we need approval from the community to take on this. I know it's free, but Oh, no. Yeah. Yeah. Just so the chair I have a question. Yes. Okay. Would that company be considered a sponsor? A product sponsor? Yeah, but I'm saying they can maybe, you know, be a product. Well, I I spoke to them and I said if they were approved and they could have their logo and their QR reader somewhere cost to what they provide.
Yeah. Just to have an idea what it is. Yeah. They say that could be if they were to charge for that, it's anywhere between $6 $800. Oh okay. Yeah. So yeah that's that's one of the discussion that we have inside committee meeting this is to approval from the rest of the committee and uh let me see what else uh member we also and I know this is taking longer than I want to but the thousand so anything under a thousand will not be considered a sponsor for that.

They told me it's gonna be somewhere between 800 the little balloons. I'm sorry. Yeah, it could be anywhere between 800 to,00 if we decide to do you know like I said for we like to see it before. Okay. that and then ask her just the get an invoice from her for what the total cost would be for so that we know the cost for sponsorship. They're just talking about that. Clarify.

I can't remember the guy's name now. and they were asking about the stipen and I said well I don't know what you are going to need in terms of cost for your actors for to do it I said so please let me know what that would look like you know and then I have to bring it up to the committee and see if it's something that they want to spend on that like you share this with you this is the link that I submitted last time and I got to print all the outfits and they're not expensive
and I told him about the outfits that you I said that we you know we would be providing the outfits you know, out to see which ones they You're super involved with the theater. Yeah. Would you mind um piggybacking on this with me just because you have you know that's Yeah. festive and and the games I know it's games that we approve we uh want to have some of the games to per it otherwise the other ones are too um they have to have some kind of safety and so forth so let's keep the ones that way making it more get chaotic. So, but we'll use the same ones and then we'll just decorate the park with you know the red one and blue and oh and then I think it was Omar uh who said to have like a backdrop for people can go and get their picture taken and they can get their picture taken with the impersonators. I think I found the book, but I wanted to bring it to everyone. Um there's a very dear person uh Elizabeth Castillo. This book is hot off the press is called Dear Healing Heart. Um basically, so you know, Elizabeth Catho shares her journey through special needs parenting in this memoir. the tender moments, the unspoken struggles, and the growth that emerges along the way. Uh, Elizabeth Castillo was born and raised here in Miami Lake. She doesn't live here, but that's she was born and raised here. She's a mother of a child with special needs, uh, Down syndrome. And she basically speaks about her journey. And what's been happening is that many times we hear about special needs and the children and that have special needs. But in this case, what about the parents and of children of of special needs? So I spoke to her and she's willing to come and speak uh free to our book talk regarding the our book, this book, her book. And I think it might be a good idea because we do have a committee in the town for special needs.
We have schools. Uh Maline is not here, but she teaches special needs in Ray Ali Gardens. So there's a lot in this community of people that I think who probably have an interest, but it's worthwhile knowing about anyway. Yes, it's very worthwhile knowing about. I bought the book. is uh Barnes & Noble and Amazon and um I just think you know I wanted to bring it to the community. I haven't even started reading. Oh, okay. Yeah. Um, I know Isabella's uh work was working with Isle and I saw an email go out today about trying to see if the county would provide at least a stage for us so we won't have that cost because they do have the the mobile stages. Um, I started sending out to the vendors that I had that were interested the sign up form. So, if you guys have anybody who's interested in um selling, you know, Hispanic re Hispanic culturally related items at this event or even if it's something has like, you know, some connection of that, um send them our way or um I can send you all the or Isabella can send you all the um the link that they can sign up.
Please send them the link. Um, it's a $100 for each vendor. And that's also gonna obviously maximum tents are you going to have? Uh, well, that's that's the other part of it. Yeah, because um
so we originally were going to do it on the old part of Main Street and then um the Grams informed me that there's possibility that there's going to be construction on Main Street at that time starting maybe in September. So, uh, we we were discussing about moving it to the new section of Main Street. So, across right in front of Chelas and also where, um, Estraga used was used to be and taking over that whole section in the front there, which actually is going to I think work well. Part of part of the main street, too. Yeah, we can go down Main Street if we need to connect even more.
Not not too much because it gets into the residential block is fine because Yeah. you know, we'll wrap it up. I don't mean to annoy you, but Shell is pretty noisy. Yeah. And Chel was is going to be loving that because it'll be they'll be kind of the center of attention there. Um and then doing the stage and the there's a grassy area right next to Chelas on the left. So do the main stage there and do the secondary stage against the wall um by uh on Miami Lakes A House. Okay. So that they're separate. So that will be smaller stage on by the Ae House. So like similar to what we use for the Main Street live there and then the larger stage over here and then seating in front of the stage area for the main stage and the smaller stage would probably be more like people walking around and stuff
so then I mean I was looking at the layout there. There's a lot What's nice there too is you have a lot of the sidewalks that kind of just like random sidewalks there that are perfect for putting vendors lined up against it. that you have a lot of rows that you can use there. Um so in theory actually may work out better there. Yeah. Yeah. Um so now the next thing is going to be um collaborating with the restaurants that are on Main Street and seeing if they want to have like a like popup location at the event. So maybe they're going to be selling maybe something like more specialty that they obviously won't have their full menu, but maybe they'll sell something special for them, you know, and that will work out really well. I think too and if people want to eat no freezing this time going to have to buy.
Yeah. And if people want to eat at the restaurant for the restaurant, they can go to the main restaurant, of course.
Um what else? Um obviously performers are still being worked on. There's a few that have um the the free performers. there's local schools and stuff that are doing dance pro promoting their dance schools doing um u like salsa or you know different kinds of um representations of the different cultures and dance- wise and obviously um I've just been waiting in terms of booking any kind of paid performers because I don't know costwise what we're going to be incurring. So, if I know that we're getting the stage for free, then we have a little bit more money to work with in terms of getting like a really strong I really want somebody who has a following to attract people.
Otherwise, it's just going to be, you know, so I really I would that's the goal is to really get somebody like that as the the so then we can promote this person performing here, right? And then that would be really the

Um, I messaged my friend who works for Demundo uh as well and she's working on to see if maybe they can help us promote and um and get the word out there and maybe be a part of the event as well. Um, and again for the committee, do you guys have anybody that you can think of vendor-wise or even sponsors? Because obviously the more money we have, the bigger we can make this event and the better we can make it. And the whole goal is to bring people to Miami Lakes and have them experience, you know, some of what we have to offer here, people who have never been here. So, yeah, the more we can do, the better.
I'd like to add that I spoke to um former member Morelis and her daughters um they attend or they're part of the dancing academy. Okay. And I wanted to bring them for the main short notice. So maybe in the future. So I told her the the event for the Hispanic dances. So they have enough time for them to rehearse. I don't know how much it's going to charge. Maybe they do free. Yeah, there's some Gaza represents in town in um in the lights festivals. She present in Miami lights for she born here. If you guys have contacts at any of these places, feel free and and to kind of lead it and then connect me with them and that way it's already the connection's been made. A lot of these studios since we're people that they don't know, it's like a random connection. But if you know somebody that's a good person. Yeah. And we like the school idea because obviously those people will bring families and stuff to the event and that's the goal.
That's what we do at our you know we had one time we had one time years ago. We did it actually on the tech stage and it was our one of our first Hispanic here and it was a dance academy and it was fabulous. Um especially the flamingco ones. So um they're going to ask about the stage right away and the size. Yeah. So my fear with the stage that the county gives you. Yeah. I have they have really the county will provide it for free but it's not a good looking stage. It has like it's all metal. It's you know I think the one that we do for the main street live is is nicer.
The one that they had at because they had one at Cars for the cure and the reason Sorry for the reason so small is because we can have the cars because we use them in the other show. Yes. the same thing this variety of you know Spanish, Mexican, package Columbia and and the idea that I also had is for each booth that is different foods to to do like we always do get the consulate to give us handouts so people learn about that culture the food and stuff that way it's not a mix and match and people are eating and they don't even know what what country it is and so it's like our mission says uh for the benefit and if they know a lot about other citizens

I've been contacting um I'm hoping that they come through um uh Pace High School which I used I attended to see if the high school students can do it as a project. So they'll have different booths. We'll have our the booths spread out throughout the event for the different countries and they'll be run by high school students that it was like a project. They had to put together a booth um representing that country and and the and the different details of it and that kind of thing so that way people have information the schools do that all the time the Hispanic one and you do a different country. So I figured high school would probably be the best or it would be the most

We do the wish list and then we do it like a like a package or something and it's going to be presented on the 4th at this. And then this these are all events that we we have from the beginning. So some of them we don't do anymore. Um, special events cultures committee. Nothing. Culturers committee. Nothing. Art in the park. Araso. Oh, as a matter of fact, this is one of our our years ago. This was a one of our vasel events. And you know it's it's something that you know I think we should bring back as and I think we did it uh or mentioned it one time about um art around town. I think this is actually I think it was in the budget for something that we did. Uh so that was the poster that they did and and it's good because it's called night of art and culture. So I don't know who do the design

So it's something to you know revive the the art scene manipulates because I mean we have a beautiful town but still some things need to be done. So I'll have more information next next meeting and then we uh we'll discuss it more but I definitely need to get started on this artist registry. So uh we'll talk more about it Isabella see how we can do it but it has to be separate from the musicians. So, we don't want to mix them up.
Okay. And our organization one is very lengthy and they keep calling me and asking to enter. Um and then the last item which is AC which we added um I I got an email from the Miami Lakers um recommending if we wanted to have a you know an ad in the paper. I don't think we need it. Uh because that event, the 4th of July is pretty pretty much uh um well attended. So, but if you really want to have something because it's a historic one. So, uh it's up to you. You want to do buy an ad in the paper. I have to check how much it's going to cost us or maybe get a discount from Linda. I mean, she always puts stuff from us. So, so but I think this is part of the advertising uh department or something but I wanted to bring it up because you know in case you want uh we can get a full page or any size u so if we approve it the town will work we need to work on the positive thing with the ad is I wouldn't say a whole page but maybe even half a page that should be around $800900 $100. But if we have sponsors, then the logos going to so that's an additional publicity for the sponsors, you know.
That's something that Yeah. Plus, she had do the 250th, you know, commemorating the 250th anniversary historic. It will be part of the document.
