MAY IS NATIONAL BIKE MONTH AND MAY 14TH 2026 IS BIKE TOUR EVERY DAY IN THE BAY AREA THE CITY OF WALNUT CREEK HAS A ROBUST NETWORK OF TRAILS PERFECT FOR CYCLING INCLUDING THE CONTRA COSTA CANAL TRAIL AND THE IRON HORSE TRAIL AND CITY STAFF SCHOOLS, PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENTS, POLICE DEPARTMENTS, PUBLIC HEALTH DISTRICTS, HOSPITALS, BUSINESSES AND CIVIC GROUPS WILL BE JOINING THE LEAGUE OF AMERICAN BICYCLISTS IN PROMOTING BICYCLING DURING THE MONTH OF MAY 20TH, 26.

CALIFORNIA VOTERS APPROVED LIKE 80% IN THE LAST GENERAL ELECTION AND SO THAT THAT'S CAL CAL STATE BOARD ALSO MET DURING THAT WHOLE MEETING AND A COUPLE OF THINGS TO NOTE WE WE VOTED TO TAKE A NO POSITION UNOPPOSED POSITION ON THE HOWARD JARVIS INITIATIVE THAT IS MOVING TOWARD THE BALLOT IN NOVEMBER AND IT'S A ONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT THAT WOULD CHANGE HOW LOCAL GOVERNMENT CAN ADOPT CERTAIN TAXES AND PROHIBIT EXISTING AND FUTURE PROPERTY TRANSFER TAXES THAT LOCAL GOVERNMENTS MAY IMPOSE. SO OUR PROJECT SCOPE INCLUDES THREE BUILDINGS THE LESHER AND THE CLAY ARTS AND THE W C LIBRARY, WALNUT CREEK LIBRARY AND AS YOU MIGHT NOW THE CLAY ARTS IS PROBABLY THE OLDEST BUILDING UP HERE AND YOU NOW IT'S STILL HAS FLUORESCENT LIGHTING ND SO THE SAVINGS IN THIS BUILDING IS GOING TO BE SUBSTANTIAL AND THE LESHER STILL HAS FLUORESCENTS THROUGHOUT AND THEN WHICH WAS SURPRISING THE LIBRARY ACTUALLY HAS FLUORESCENT LIGHTING AS WELL. SO THERE IS A LOT F GOOD OPPORTUNITY TO UPGRADE UPGRADE THAT BUILDING AS WELL WITH LIGHTING. THIS IS THIS IS PRETTY SUBSTANTIAL SAVINGS IF YOU LOOK IN THIS AT THIS CHART IT SHOWS HOW THE LIGHTING UPGRADES TRANSLATES INTO REAL ENERGY AND COST SAVINGS AT THE CLARETS FACILITY WE EXPECT THE LARGEST PERCENTAGE REDUCTION AT 64% AT THE LEISURE WE'RE EXPECTING 4,646% REDUCTION AT 9600 PER PER YEAR.
