Well, mine's gonna be super short, but. Okay, so I'm gonna be presenting, I'm with the Wellness Committee, I'm the chair, and I'm gonna be presenting during the all-staff meeting in a couple weeks, but I just wanted to touch base with you guys about wellness. When you are meeting with your people, your committees and groups, please be pushing this and reminding people to get it done. I personally, as of June, so these are kind of old numbers, have earned $204 that will go straight to me. So I want to remind people out there that it's money that you can earn. Straight into your pocket. I did this by completing the physical mental health training video wellness survey and getting my steps in The steps challenge goes until September 30th And if you have any other so it also saves the county money us money, and then we get money so So on the main ones that we want to push is the physical and online assessment correct? Yep, that's where we get our most points. Yes So I'll be presenting, going over all this at the all-staff meeting. So any questions right now?

discuss and approve mo moa between benton county and area substance abuse council ray yes the ongoing committee has been working with asac closely for a couple years now

and we bought into a program for a peer navigator here in the big county area that goes to people and assist them in getting services in place and follows up and it's been really good support. So the MOU provides for another year of this service. We have the funding for it, so it's simply just letting you know what we're doing, you can sign off on it. The MOU provides, The reason is that if we do run out of money, we can get out of it. But we're secure for another year at least with a little bit of money. I think we're at about $50,000 right now.

Yeah, we just got out of those deposits a minute ago.

So it's about $50,000 in the bank.

And this is one that we just pay monthly. They gave us an itemized invoice to show us what we're getting for our money.

We already had this budget out last year, right?

Yeah, so that doesn't go towards the 50,000 we have currently.

And the opioid committee approved this going forward too. so it's not a set fee then right haley um it's usually and i see no dollar amount in this contract 35 000 annually where's that at uh front page under grant funding number three yeah yeah that's what okay we had to leave last month we just do a monthly

Yeah, just looking back at the history, that does vary from what they provide.

Reports. I had County Health. Nice thing about that one is you get the reports from the land use on the wells and everything of what they're doing. Pretty much got their well grant spoken for this year. It's good progress there. Everything is working well with the health nurse. I was out of town. I didn't have any meetings. I am traveling to Des Moines on Thursday for the ISAC.

I had a Zoom meeting last Wednesday for Eastern Iowa Trust Fund. We had somebody apply for some money and we had a quick two-minute Zoom meeting. We agreed to Let them have some money. That's it. Unfinished business.

speaking of that we have a liquor license for the blair sound that just come through today and if that's for labor day yeah i don't know if we have time that we approve the next tuesday if the state will turn around and approve it so we're gonna look would you guys be opposed if you had to do a call-in meeting just for that this week no problem okay we're gonna try to find out how fast the state will approve it otherwise Yeah, we might have to act on it like Friday night or something. Didn't they do that last year? Yes. I don't know why they, like, we just literally got the notice.

Yeah. I thought they were going to have the beer then. Yeah.

Yeah, they're applying for that 14-day, which would start August 26th, which is Wednesday. If we approve it Tuesday, we're going to have to stay. I don't know how fast they'll be back.

I don't have a problem any time. You do.

New old business public interest comments.

I had something I wanted to share. I don't know if you guys are aware, but on Thursday, Hannah's going to be supported as the Iowa Auditors Association president. It's a pretty big honor with a lot of work involved, but I think it's great to be a representative of Benton County and working at that level in the state. Along with that, Larry Andreessen was last year's Assessor's Association President, so he's past president now. And then Alicia Stack in my office is on the Iowa County Attorney's Legislative Committee to draft new legislations. And she is also on the Iowa County Attorney's Best Practices Committee. And what they do is they draft protocols for prosecuting your challenging cases to be implemented statewide to create consistency in the prosecutions. And that's quite the work that committee is too. I think it's great we have all these people working, not just in Midtown, but at the state level to make sure we have some input.

Yep. I don't think I want that. I've already got it reserved. I had to start that process. It's going to be at the Double Tree in downtown Cedar Rapids next summer. Yeah, pretty good. Yeah, I'm getting pretty excited. Got to get my theme and all that fun stuff. Speakers, everything will wind up.

And I'm hoping I didn't miss anybody else that was on the stage. It's really great for Mankind when people get involved on that level.

seems like i read next week next week i'm a week ahead yep next week okay the 25th at 6 30. talk about later um i do have so i double emailed haley okay that's fine um so i thought i'd just hop into public comment i wanted to pitch the iccs fall conference So this is a conservation big conference and it's geared towards board member and like a bigger thing. And we are hosting this year. So that's why this one is such a big deal to us. We've been working really hard. We just had our kind of final, not a final, but everybody got together and we went over everything we're gonna do. went on location over in Linn County with their nice brand new facility. It's going to be awesome. So I really want to encourage you guys to go. You don't have to go for the whole thing. You can register for just a single day. You can just do the banquet if you just want to socialize. But it really highlights different things. So the first day is like fun stuff to do. Then the second day is you can go on a tour and tour Jones and Linn. or Benton and Lynn.

Bruce, they got golf.

It's going to be a lot of fun. It's going to be a lot of fun, a lot of networking opportunities. Really going to see the cool projects we've been working on. And the Thursday is a big day for us. Our tour bus, two tour buses are full. We have over 100 people coming our direction that day. The Wednesday is less full for us, but full for Jones.

Did they tour all the parks with you guys?

Yeah, we got different stops along the way. We won't hit everything, but just highlighting big projects that we've worked on with different partners. It's a really, really good conference. I would encourage you to go. And you can bring your significant other if you want to bring them along. They just have to pay the conference fee as well. I went online to start the process. There was like this portal where you could go out. And now I'm getting solicited all the time for speakers. Maybe that wasn't the right way to go.

popping in for an additional update. The Hannon RFP for the watershed work, we talked about it a couple of meetings ago, is live. We'll get 75% reimbursement from the state, working with the auditor's office on that. And then we will have a couple of large invoices coming in, but it's for the tree canopy grant. We're getting really close to the end for the Atkins Roundhouse area, so those will be coming your way as well. You'll see those, but we're done at the end of September. On the administrative side, we're really excited about that. I'm sure the auditor's office is too. It's kind of sad, though, because we want to keep doing these big projects, but it's really exciting. It's been super successful. And then I did want to clarify something briefly, just from rumor mill. We've talked about this before, Tracy. I understand that other departments have received raises without reductions to their budgets. Conservation did receive a budget reduction, but that was absorbed within our existing budget and it did not come from the Rogers Park Enclosed Shelter or affect any of our special project earmark funds. I just wanted to make sure that was clear and on the record because there was some confusion. Some of it was said to come from Supervisor's mouth. So I just wanted to make sure we were all on the same page. So are there any questions about that?

How are they coming on with the septic tanks at Hanna?

They are made, is my understanding, or somewhere in that realm. And then Shamiki's going to go as soon as, I don't know how long they have to sit and all of that. That'll be nice to not have to worry about.

Then the RFP you're putting out right now, that's for Hannon Lake for cleaning it out.

Watershed improvement, yeah. More than just cleaning it out, but yeah. That's like the most common.

When are you planning on doing this?

The RFP won't even be complete until fall of 27. And then we'd have an idea of like costs, projects, grant funding, all of that, so. This is a really, really long process, so I couldn't tell you exactly when. Like 28, 29, or 30.

This would be similar to what they did at... Hickory Hills.

Yes. Same program. With the CDDG, with this tree one, we kind of run the hole and then we get reimbursed. Yes. This other one is... totally different, so we're going to have to figure out how to fund it up front. Because we'll still have to fund it up front. And it's not like we can just wait for that funding to come through.

Right. They did say that we could, like, as we get a bill, we can turn it in for reimbursement and get reimbursed similarly to that, the back and forth.

So I'm not 100% sure how we'll do that.

I did not look at the whole paperwork that you sent out. Is there an estimated cost right now? For this project? Oh. And the RFP?

For the RFP or for the actual work?

The actual work.

The actual work. Well, that's what the RFP is going to find out.

It'll have a dollar estimate associated with each project and hopefully be tiered out. The idea is that we're hoping that the design firm can tier it out to where If we get a smaller grant, we can do part of the stuff. So there's still some stuff happening versus having to do everything all at once.

So will some of those smaller grants be able to be grant matched towards that?

Yeah, but that'll be later. This RFP one, we just have to do 25%, which we'll use my engineering line item to match.

But my concern is, I think you originally thought it was going to be a $1 million project, right?

Yeah.

But if we have to put it up front, We got to know what funds and how we're going to make that work. Yeah, that's where Tracy's like, I'm done. I mean, it was nice with the CDBG fund because we could kind of go negative because they knew we were going to replenish it the next month.

Right, and that's my understanding is that's how the reimbursement can work, is you can turn in regular bills, claims.

Yeah, and that's where Kate is supposed to get back to us on that. So we'll probably have to stand still until she can answer some of those questions.

That's fair. We have months before anything starts. That's why I was just trying to get it done. So don't stop this week.
