Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. All right. Thank you and welcome everybody. You're lucky we got two meetings tonight. So, first one, we'll get that going. Um, first we need to enter. This is for the proposed property tax levy for fiscal year 27. So I'd entertain a motion to approve the agenda as post and sent to the media 24 hours prior to the meeting. So moved. I'll second it.
Second motion by Mr. Lammo, seconded by Mr. De. All in favor? I
opposed. Motion carries. Next is public comment. And anybody got public comment on the t tax levy? Not seeing any. We're going to move. Keep moving. Public hearing for the public for the uh fiscal year 27 proposed property tax levy. So being at being be it meeting the time and p place for the public hearing in regard to the proposed property tax levy for fiscal year 27. I Mary Mary Mayor not Mary Mayor Bertzol will open the meeting at 6:02 and we'll have Mr. Mr. Ron Dent uh the city manager review the details for us.
Thank you, Mayor. Uh this is the public hearing for the proposed property tax levy for f fiscal year 2027. Um and uh this is basically the notice that was published has three columns. It shows the current uh certifi current year certified property tax information uh which has a current levy of $15.91 per thousand. Um the middle column shows that if that um if the tax revenue collections were to remain the same for fiscal year 27, the uh levy would be $142 and that's a result of an increase in taxable valuation. The third column is what the city is proposing for fiscal year 2027. Um and the proposed levy is $14.85 85 per thousand. Um, this is a $16 decrease in the levy. Uh, which, uh, due to the increase in taxable valuation, the net change to the property tax revenue would be $55,978 uh, more. Also at the bottom of that notice are two hypothetical scenarios that are shown there for a $100,000 house on a residential scenario um in the current year and then uh having that property increase by 10% to $110,000 valuation and what the percent change in uh would be as proposed which would be a minus 3.58% of property taxes. The second hypothetical scenario is a $300,000 commercial property that had an a 10%
increase. So, it's uh showing a $330,000 taxable value for fiscal year 27. And that would result in a 3.63% increase in property taxes. These are hypothetical. Everybody's property is uh assessed individually and so depending on your taxable value of your property depends on uh what your resulting net change will be to your property taxes. Are there any questions? Open it up to the public mayor.
Not seeing any. So if anybody else has any comments on the on the budget this evening, now's your time. Not hearing hearing any mayor. Yep. I would also note that there were no written objections um that received at city hall. All right. With that, we will close the public hearing at 6:05 and I would entertain a motion to adjourn the special session of the city council. So moved. Second.
A motion by M. A. Second by Mr. Holmstrom. All in favor? I I opposed. We're ajourn. Thank you. Okay. We'll let Becky set up for our next meeting and we'll give her a few minutes. So cue the music. Who wants to sing?
