Cable Advisory Committee - Regular Meeting

10. I'm going to call this meeting of the cable advisory committee to order. Everybody is present. There's nobody in the public or uh attendees on Zoom right now. So, that's great. Uh the first agenda item is public comment. Do we have any public comment? hearing. Oh, go ahead. So close. [laughter] Okay. You you might have you might have something. No, I want to complain about the handling of Fox channel Foxh during the football game. A couple a couple of Yep. That is wildly annoying. I agree. And I think other people would agree too. Yes. I don't know how we have any say on that, but

Well, no, we don't. We specifically don't. Um and um you're paying for you're not getting but they're Verizon is protecting you from what um Fox is trying to do so you know trying to raise but we that's been here since ever since since day one that kind of stuff including the getting the customers unhappy and putting stuff out that do you but I was unhappy I I did find a way to see the game though there was something local TV, an app.

Good. Good. All right. So, then the next up is um we're going to review our annual town report that Corson was so kind to put together and we have drafts here in front of us to review in real time. Um if you want to tee that up. Yes. Well, uh, this is, um, basically the double spaced, uh, what I forwarded to, uh, Colleen, um, and, uh, as it were, if if it was all single spaced, it'd only be a single page like this. But Colleen just showed me an update. Yeah. So, I think we had our wires crossed slightly, a little bit better.

Um, it's up to you whichever one you want to review. If you want to do the the single sheet, we can do that. If you want to do the one that you worked on, that's fine, too. Whatever you prefer. We can we can do well. Does everybody else have a copy or just No, I didn't hand them out unless you were okay with it. Yeah, let's Oh, that is the is that the whole thing now? That is the whole thing now. Okay. Because I looked on, you know, on mail or whatever a while back and there seemed to be repetition of stuff. I did I did pick up on that. So, I kind of cleaned some of that up a little bit. That was the only thing I

Yep. Yep. So, if you guys want to just take a minute to peruse this or or any We can add things, we take things away, we can, you know, whatever you want to do. Move we approve. My only comment would be adding a date, an effective date of the restructuring to that first bullet.

Sure. Yeah, it wasn't in my It was not in my copy. No, but it's I can look at that pretty easy piece though and and add it and still get this sent off to Cindy by tomorrow, which is the goal. So if we want to approve it effective contingent any changes that we make tonight or including any changes we can do that too.

I don't see anything else. Fantastic. So I did have a motion. I don't have a second yet if anyone wants to second it. I'll second it based on her recommendation. Okay. To add the the date. However, this is two weeks since our last meeting, so it's really quick. If we're ready to go, cool. If not, the whole point of tonight was to get LA uh the town report passed. So, if we want to go through the rest of the agenda items, I'm fine with it. If we want to hold off and give us some more time to be ready, um then I'm fine with that, too. Whatever you guys prefer. Yeah. I I was going to ask um Megan, did you uh have anything to add to I am I'm about halfway. we could work together on this.

Yeah. So, I'm about halfway through Milford and speaking of Adobe failing us, um the conversion I'm I'm essentially retyping it manually because the conversion is just that bad that there's not not a line that I can just copy and paste. So, it's taking me a while, but um I will work on that and have it to you before our next meeting. That's fine. Whenever we collectively Okay. So, what Oh, sorry. Is there a way we can help with that? Is it you pass off some for us to type up or Okay. I I do that for work pretty regularly, so it's not hard. It's just timeconuming. Y

Okay. Uh how about you? Is there anything that you you need help from any of us that we can help you with? It's um it's a tall order trying to get all get all six together in terms of what it is. Um, but I'll uh I'll try and do my very best again because because some of the inconsistencies of of who has what service provider uh makes it a little bit awkward for comparison sake. Yeah, and uh again it's all the data. See what I can make it do what it has to do. Okay, perfect. Yeah.

Um Bob, do you have any input or thoughts about any of that? No. I I've looked it up. Okay. I I'm sure I will recognize what I hear. Perfect. All right. Um, so that's that sounds good to me. And we have a plan to move forward. And how much time would you guys preferably like to accomplish the goals so that we can think about that when setting our next uh meeting? I don't want to make it too quick again and and then boggy down um or go too far where we, you know,

lose both. Exactly. So where is that sweet spot for everybody? Well, let me let me ask you this if I may. Um if we were going to have a meeting in March Yep. Um, would it be early March or it would be mid-Marchch? Uh, and I'm saying that because that may influence when we decide to have the February meeting. Isn't this the February meeting? Well, I mean the next February meeting that she's proposing. So that's up to that's up to us to decide right now. So if we want to

not do a February meeting, have this count as our February meeting or do another one sooner? like is is if we meet again in two weeks, are we ready to roll or is that meeting again too soon? You won't have enough time to you guys just described a lot of work you have to do. Is two weeks enough time or is that going to be it might be kind of tough to get done? Yeah. So would would meeting on March 4th if that works for everybody or March 11th now we're about a month out but we meet earlier in the month. Would that be okay? What about be before you go to March? Uh is there a problem with February 25th? That's three weeks. It happens that it's I have that day open. Okay. [clears throat] And it and March 4th is not uh conducive for you. Well, uh no.

Okay. Well, the first Wednesday of the month is when it committee is supposed to meet except that IT committee has been having a lot of trouble. Um we really need Evan and William and um been you know

occupying them it's some somehow uh more important than complaining about stuff they can't do anything about because of the budget or whatever. Um so um the nominal IT committee is on the 4th. Um otherwise so far no one has bid on any Wednesdays. Okay. So that leaves I'm going to I'm going to let it Megan and Corus and direct me. Would you prefer February 25th or March 11th?

And then we'll go accordingly with that. I want to make sure you guys feel supported by the D. I because my work is contingent on Corsin being able to do his work. I would prefer the 11th to give me some time and then give Corson, you know, time as well. Yep. Yeah. I prefer not February 11th. No, no, no, no. Sorry. Sorry. March 11th. March 11. So either February Yeah. No, nobody's agreed second carry. So, no, no February

either. Well, the So, Bob has proposed February 25th or March 11th. Those are the two dates we're thinking right now. March 4th. Bob is unavailable. So, we're going to do either the 27th and and Megan is suggesting March 11th just to ensure everybody has enough time. She was describing that time, give her time, a little bit more cushion and enough time to ensure that you have enough time to do work. There's nothing pressing. No. Right. Right. Then the 11th. March. March 11th. Okay. Perfect. Okay.

Okay. That being said, if it if you do need help typing or if it pops up, you guys do need any, just reach out. I I love to help out and do whatever I can. Okay. Um, that being said, puppy again. Uh we got our future meeting approve meeting minutes. A couple of those come up in here. So u we still had August because we didn't officially have a meeting in September. Um the only thing I I just noticed when I printed it out is there's page one of two, two of three of two. Okay. Microsoft is

No, I put that in manual. Oh, [laughter] but you see the the second the second digit is something you have to manually put in. The first one will con constantly keep adding to it. Um but uh this basically is when we were talking about a lot of the the key works of using AI and comparing licenses and and stuff about the uh poor quality for the Milford license and and Bob suggesting that uh uh contacting Milford for a cleaner copy of their license um and mentioned a link to Milford's access website. I'm making progress. It's okay.

We'll see how it turns out. In all reality, their copy is the exact same one that the state has, which is the version I've been using. Yeah. So, short of going there and asking to see their original and scanning it, I don't foresee assuming they still have the original. What What kind of file do you have? It's a PDF that I converted to dox uh doc x. Yeah. Oh yeah, you must use Microsoft software. Oh, it's it's my absolute favorite, Bob. It is a treat and a privilege every day.

Well, you you can't I may have to reevaluate. [laughter] You can't live without Microsoft software. You know, you use Word all the time and that's Microsoft. I know where Word comes from. Yes, I was there in the 80s, [laughter] the 90s. Wasn't there Word Perfect before that? Um Word Perfect. I don't think I was ever allowed to touch that. It No, that's Clippy. No, that was a previous version of Microsoft Word. Word Perfect was like a free version of Word, but it was so much better. Oh, but Microsoft became ubiquitous. Like, everybody used it. So, Word Perfect stopped. Died.

Yeah, it just died. It went Yeah. withered on the vine. So it's it's unfort word is quite literally the bane of my existence. Somebody didn't think you were uh old enough to experience word perfect because that was back in the I'm going to say in 1980s maybe or was it I was using it in like the that I learned like word processing on word perfect. Okay. My mom was an engineer so but you must have been pretty young at the time. Oh yeah. Yeah. Absolutely. Um, moving to you sound like an IT committee meeting. Yeah, we could take over if they're having trouble getting together. Okay, watch watch what you say.

You're [laughter] not having any trouble getting the members. That's true. Very true. Only the people we need. Not signing up for job. No. Thank you. Um, uh, I move to accept the August 20th minutes as dropped. Okay, good. Can we do one for both? I move to accept all of the minutes the court has presented on September 10th because September 10th is just saying that is basically said forum meeting. I second that too.

Yeah. Um, I think it's still in our charge. Something about a public hearing that we can hold. It was there while this was while this moving target was moving. Um, it was there. I thought it was a little surprising.

Yes. To conduct an annual public hearing to review the performance of the cable provider. That should probably be plural because there are two, but I didn't. Well, [laughter] we can have two. Might even be I don't know. Probably good to have two because usually the cable provider to be there. Yeah. And also people don't have both.

Hardly anybody. Um except here in the studio. Um but uh yeah uh you'll find scheduling it. Well, if it's anything like it was back in the day, we we'd have a hearing as part of the cut license renewal. Yeah. Mostly. Um we may have had one because of complaints or something like that. Okay. Um I'm just going to table this right now. Um because it wasn't on our agenda, but but I think this is a very valid thing to be discussing and I'll make sure it's included on our March 11th agenda to make sure we discuss planning and scheduling and and getting one done. And
