Hello everyone, this is Phil Leoso speaking and you are watching Building Our Future. On this episode of Building Our Future, we're going to talk about the East Taper-Tolinas Safe Routes to School project. So every day, students navigate through Missy's sidewalk, an unprotected railroad crossing, and narrow sidewalks just to get to school. But that's all going to change. And the improvements that we're going to install, we're going to close those missing sidewalks, install a railroad crossing, and we're going to widen the sidewalk on Talinas Avenue from four feet to six feet. On May 5th, 2026, the City of Fairfield City Council awarded the project to Kimu Contracting to build the project. Construction is anticipated to begin in the middle of June and go through to the end of September, possibly early October. Thank you everyone for watching this episode of Building Our Future. We'll see you on the next one.
