He worked in local businesses. Um his work experience ranges from being a machinist, industrial electrical and maintenance to logging, retail, and fast food over his course of the 40 years. Um, in May 2025, he retired and have since been on a home improvement journey doing a home repair. So, um, I asked Rustin to because he's involved in the community, he's been here for a long time with his work experience, I think valuable. Motion to accept Ros's nomination.

I this update vote to approve the hiring of the natural gas supervisor. We currently have two um three resumes in your file, two new ones and we have one current person that is inside the city employee the first and the second and then we can discuss. You had the application.

Yes, you do. Thank you. I review these application floor earlier today and looking out um this Colton Johnson uh back in 21 to 25 and he was a commercial construction supervisor. So he says superiz supervise five to seven people so he's got supervision uh experience which is what we're voting for to hire a natural gas supervisor. He also has an electrical apprentice. Um so he's definitely within the realms. I think we should I I would like to make a motion that the Colton Johnson be be u supervisor we hire Johnson supervisor of the national gas We have first discussion.

Yes. I want to note in the record that if we hire this man, he has absolutely no natural gas experience. So you're you're hiring supervisor for natural gas. I had no experience. You have experience that some we need natural gas itself doesn't have talent. I did and he's going to be trained on the job. So the other boys are the other boy Richard should be helping. So am I 100% for this? The answer is no. But do we need an after supervisor? Yes. But you got to 6 months probation just like everybody else. If you can be a supervisor in 6 months and that's okay. But that's what I have to say. I I am very reluctant to hire somebody that doesn't know natural gas on the side of the wall. So anyway, that's that's what I'm going to tell you. Am I all for it? But we actually we do need one. There's no doubt about it. That's all. And we actually put on the ad that the ideal candidate would have natural gas experience and only one of them has natural gas experience. I mean almost anybody can be a good supervisor but we need natural gas supervisor and that's our second most dangerous department. We wouldn't hire somebody for electric department that didn't know electric.

Yes we do a supervisor. Yes. We we hire people that don't have a supervisor. A supervisor. shooting security stuff. It's our number one first and most dangerous department. It's not the defer have a bigger threat than electricity. If something had to be catastrophic or electricity, might electrocute me.

That's right. Now let me let me interject here one thing is we ran ads what for almost a month before we ran it for in newspapers we ran it in numerous locations and we had I think at that time how many applications one external and one internal we ran yeah we ran it like 15 different locations and we the bas one of the people that's actually on this thing is a return from the last um from the last application cycle. So this time we literally had two new applications, but one of them is not new. It's actually the applicant that we considered last time.

Yes. That's the second time that that he's up for the chance for this. We we hired within. So you guys that don't know, we hired within uh by recommendation to try to give uh a past supervisor who had stepped down a second chance and that just didn't work out. So just because you have the natural gas experience does not mean that you're going to be a good supervisor. That's a proven track record within our natural gas park fits. So there are requirements that must be met for certification for natural gas through an OQ certification. With that being said, he has to make a progression within 6 months to a certain level.

And if he doesn't complete that level within that six months, yes, we can choose to do something at that point in time. And they've been made aware that there are training processes that come into place. And the reason why I bring this up is go to item number eight where he's a natural gas technician as well. notifications for one. So really we're we're going to be looking for two and based on what we have in front of us and I know we do have to revertise and I want to make sure that gets in the middle. We have to readvertise first. Got supervisor guy right there.

He is young. um his experience is there but there's two applicants there. There's another applicant that's older. He has experience. You guys have to make a determination about allowing to vote. Um, so we I've already talked with Jennifer about If if somebody comes from this department or this department or this department, where will we stand? And it will depend on which department it comes from, how we replace that individual, whether we'll do it on a part-time basis or fulltime basis. Yeah. Where they come from, which questions? Yes.

What are the general requirements? We have a job description sent that today that will be presented to anybody that wants it that's going to apply for the position we have. Right now the lawyer's a little bit behind. So
