that'll take care of number six as well which be appoint the MRPC representative which would be J. I got a question. Sure. So when you're doing your but like under a public works director under the under the per works committee. Well it's the same thing, right? Okay. The two the two main uh committees will be your electric and natural gas since that's annual

10:54 – 11:390

vote approve the hiring of natural gas supervisor a motion and a second on appointing the MRPC representative unless you want to do so they have to approve the committees and the representative we can We'll do the first one. Appoint alderman committees. We've done that. First or second. You got the second. All those in favor? I appoint the MRPC represent against you put Joyce on the police committee and she lied on police report. Yes, you did.

11:38 – 12:140

No, I did not. Yes, you did. No, I did not. You're live. And the mayor was was the current mayor was present. Okay. We'll discuss that at a different time. Um, put that in a minute. We'll do. Yes. That I said no, I didn't. And I have witnesses. Your witnesses didn't help you in court, did they? Well, one of them didn't, that's for sure. Okay, guys. Let's move to the next one. We'll discuss this later. Appoint the MRPC representative, which was Jeremy Roseman. I make the motion. Second. All those in favor?

12:11 – 12:540

I this update vote to approve the hiring of the natural gas supervisor. We currently have two um three resumes in your file, two new ones and we have one current person that is inside the city employee the first and the second and then we can discuss. You had the application.

12:51 – 14:350

Yes, you do. Thank you. I review these application floor earlier today and looking out um this Colton Johnson uh back in 21 to 25 and he was a commercial construction supervisor. So he says superiz supervise five to seven people so he's got supervision uh experience which is what we're voting for to hire a natural gas supervisor. He also has an electrical apprentice. Um so he's definitely within the realms. I think we should I I would like to make a motion that the Colton Johnson be be u supervisor we hire Johnson supervisor of the national gas We have first discussion.

14:32 – 16:140

Yes. I want to note in the record that if we hire this man, he has absolutely no natural gas experience. So you're you're hiring supervisor for natural gas. I had no experience. You have experience that some we need natural gas itself doesn't have talent. I did and he's going to be trained on the job. So the other boys are the other boy Richard should be helping. So am I 100% for this? The answer is no. But do we need an after supervisor? Yes. But you got to 6 months probation just like everybody else. If you can be a supervisor in 6 months and that's okay. But that's what I have to say. I I am very reluctant to hire somebody that doesn't know natural gas on the side of the wall. So anyway, that's that's what I'm going to tell you. Am I all for it? But we actually we do need one. There's no doubt about it. That's all. And we actually put on the ad that the ideal candidate would have natural gas experience and only one of them has natural gas experience. I mean almost anybody can be a good supervisor but we need natural gas supervisor and that's our second most dangerous department. We wouldn't hire somebody for electric department that didn't know electric.

16:13 – 16:430

Yes we do a supervisor. Yes. We we hire people that don't have a supervisor. A supervisor. shooting security stuff. It's our number one first and most dangerous department. It's not the defer have a bigger threat than electricity. If something had to be catastrophic or electricity, might electrocute me.

16:44 – 17:280

That's right. Now let me let me interject here one thing is we ran ads what for almost a month before we ran it for in newspapers we ran it in numerous locations and we had I think at that time how many applications one external and one internal we ran yeah we ran it like 15 different locations and we the bas one of the people that's actually on this thing is a return from the last um from the last application cycle. So this time we literally had two new applications, but one of them is not new. It's actually the applicant that we considered last time.

17:26 – 18:130

Yes. That's the second time that that he's up for the chance for this. We we hired within. So you guys that don't know, we hired within uh by recommendation to try to give uh a past supervisor who had stepped down a second chance and that just didn't work out. So just because you have the natural gas experience does not mean that you're going to be a good supervisor. That's a proven track record within our natural gas park fits. So there are requirements that must be met for certification for natural gas through an OQ certification. With that being said, he has to make a progression within 6 months to a certain level.

18:12 – 18:560

And if he doesn't complete that level within that six months, yes, we can choose to do something at that point in time. And they've been made aware that there are training processes that come into place. And the reason why I bring this up is go to item number eight where he's a natural gas technician as well. notifications for one. So really we're we're going to be looking for two and based on what we have in front of us and I know we do have to revertise and I want to make sure that gets in the middle. We have to readvertise first. Got supervisor guy right there.

18:53 – 19:160

Still no more discussion. Is there any concern with age on this person? We're talking about Golden 26.

19:14 – 19:410

He is young. um his experience is there but there's two applicants there. There's another applicant that's older. He has experience. You guys have to make a determination about allowing to vote. So there's three applicants before you. Your resume will provide it to you to make a decision. You got correct.

19:48 – 20:310

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. No. that nine uh we will offer the position to Colton Johnson. Next thing on the agenda, approval to advertise for a natural gas technician. Make that motion. Second.

20:28 – 20:400

All those in favor? I How about how long? Thank you. Should we get one? Just leave it until

20:430

until I'm sorry. You say until we get one.

20:530

So instead,

21:01 – 21:430

we usually run for two weeks. Okay, next line item. Approval to advertise for a journeyman lineman or apprentice lineman. We've already ran these ads, but we ran them for a specific time. So now we need to rerun them all in again. How long you want to run? Yes. Next one. Approval. We have person.

21:46 – 22:240

You want to vote? Yeah. Approval to advertise internally for a public works director with the closing date of May 4th, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. So be an internal application process only. Can we afford this? Um, we won't be hiring out. So, it'll already be in in house. So, you're not going to fill the position that comes up to that?

22:20 – 22:560

It depends on which department it needs. And I've already talked with Jennifer. Um, so we I've already talked with Jennifer about If if somebody comes from this department or this department or this department, where will we stand? And it will depend on which department it comes from, how we replace that individual, whether we'll do it on a part-time basis or fulltime basis. Yeah. Where they come from, which questions? Yes.

22:54 – 23:340

What are the general requirements? We have a job description sent that today that will be presented to anybody that wants it that's going to apply for the position we have. Have we voted have we looked at the job description and voted on that? No, we have not. We'll have to do that first. Attorney look at it. Right. We we should be able to go out for the we should be able to accept the application and the job description being made available before the selection is the intent. Right now the lawyer's a little bit behind. So

23:40 – 24:240

we're actually advertising a director. That's super supposed to be supervisor. Okay. Thank you. So it will be supervisor because the director is a step up. No, I was just mention No cracker. Yes.

24:22 – 24:590

Yes. Yes. Yes. No. Because we got to have a job description before they know what they're applying for. You put in the the cart before the motion carries second. All those in favor.
