City Council - Special Meeting

All right, it is 12 o'clock. We have special council city council meeting for March 31st, 2026. We do have a quorum. Um, we are here to discuss and consider and adopt a resolution authorizing the submission of the Texas Community Development Block Grant Program application to the city or to the Texas Department of Agriculture for the 2026 downtown revitalization program. Jamie Campbell Good afternoon, mayor and council. Okay, so this really is just kind of a housekeeping item for this grant. If you remember at our last regular council meeting, um we did resolutions to um select our grant administrator and to select a engineer on file uh for this grant. So, this portion is just a resolution saying that we want to actually apply for the grant and that our maximum match would be $50,000. This grant is going to be centered around downtown, specifically our farmers market area. Um, and so there are going to be multiple phases within the grant. The first phase is the submission. If we get past the first phase, we will go into the second phase which is uh scoring. If we score high enough and one, they'll rescore us again and get further and further and then hopefully we have tried in 2024 to get this grant and we're unsuccessful. So, we're hoping this time around we'll be more successful, but it is highly competitive. So, any questions?

Jimmy, how much is the grant? So, it depends on If we do the 50% match, I'm sorry, the $50,000 match, this grant, I believe, is an 8020, but it all depends on what the project and the scope of the project and um what the engineers come back and say as well.

So, we won't really know until we get the engineer report and all that. Well, so the first phase of it is kind of like a highlevel engineer where they just kind of do uh drawings and that goes into the grant application. We won't actually use a full schematic, schematic, drawings, and all of those other things until we know that we're further along in the process and actually receive the grant. Gotcha.
