Good evening, Tim Reed, trying to remember my address, 47903, 283rd Street, Gann, South Dakota. So I'd just like to come in this evening, introduce myself. I am running for District 16 House of Representatives here in Lincoln County, Lincoln-Turner County area. I just wanted to introduce myself here. I've lived or lived in or worked in District 16 all my life. Born and raised in Canton, graduated here. My wife has taught in Canton for 25 years. I have a daughter who's going to be starting her first year of teaching in Irene Wakanda. A another daughter who works at the university of South Dakota and a son who is a district attorney in Washington, DC. So, uh, a lot of variety there and what they do. Um, I, myself long road to get to where I've gotten, but, uh, got out of high school. Didn't really know what I was going to do. Worked out the ostrich farm. If any of you remember that east of town here, well, it was a pheasant farm before it was the ostrich farm, but I worked out the ostrich farm. I joined the South Dakota National Guard, served its service battery up here in Canton before they moved it up to Sioux Falls at the fairgrounds, then eventually out to the new building by the airport. Then I went to school while I was working at Fast Tech, which is a factory out east of town. I worked there for about seven years. Then I started going to school, got a job, taught for 12 years, and then I've been an administrator for 14 years since then. Currently, I'm just finishing up my 12th year as superintendent, elementary principal at the Alcester Hudson School District, and I've lived in Alcester for the last 12 years, but we moved back to a place outside of town here, about a mile out of town. We are on Highway 11, a mile south on the southeast side of the road. So we moved back in March. So retiring June 30th will be my last day as superintendent, and would like to be your voice for District 16 in Pierre. So it's down to three of us now, John Schubeck, Lisa Bogue, and myself. And yes, I will admit it, my name has a Democrat behind it, which probably scares some of you, okay? But I will guarantee you if we were to get together, 98% of the things we would agree upon, okay? there's crazies on the right, crazies on the left. I'd like to say that I'm those majority of people who run in the middle, okay? That we can agree upon most everything. My key is obviously education. I've been involved with education my entire life. So public education is a big thing to me. Also been a farmer my entire life. So agriculture is very big. My brother still farms right outside of town on our family farm. I've been helping him lately and plan on helping him when I retire as well. And then I'll probably have to find another job because I'm not wealthy enough to retire at 55 but uh just thought it was time so decided to try this so i guess what i'd like to be is you know i'd like to be a person who brings a lot of different perspectives again done a lot of things in my lives in my life so i have a lot of views viewpoints also i think just a lot of common sense sometimes we get out uh we hear things they're talking about appear and that it just doesn't make a lot of sense and i'd like to bring more common sense to that You know, obviously supporting our small town, South Dakota, doesn't revolve around Sioux Falls. There's more to South Dakota than Sioux Falls. So I want to support our small towns, our small municipalities here. And we'd be open to any questions that you guys would have at this time.

I'm not good at public speaking. My name is Stacy Van Groningen, 720 West 3rd Street, in the trailer court. My heart's going 90 miles an hour. I know you've been sending out letters about getting stuff cleaned up and having that new So the code guy do stuff, talk to me about my place late last year. I have had a shoulder injury I've been working with and dad had stuff. He didn't have anything prepared when he died in 19. So I've been dealing with that, doing everything I can on my own and I've never had or needed a week trip, but gosh, I must be the worst person in the world because I got weeds all over. And yes, I got to do some now last week when it was 90-some degrees. I can only do so much. And cleaning up stuff that has gotten away from me and dad had. And dad didn't have everything settled. And I told him I'll do as much as I could as fast as I could. This Saturday, I got a call from him. He said, well, it looks like you haven't done anything, and I've been told to get harder on people. I'm assuming I got another letter. I don't look at the mail as often as I used to. I'm afraid to. Used to be you could get help. I'm the only person in my family on that side of life except for a half-sister that don't live around here no more, and some aunts and uncles that are older than me. But That's private property. He wants to come and look at everything. I don't need a babysitter. I know I'm behind. I know I got stuff I need to do. And I can't sleep at night. My stomach's in knots now. It's been in knots since this Saturday. I feel a little insulted that he said that it didn't seem I did anything. when I know I worked darn near all winter. Neighbor's cat gave birth to kittens in one of my places, so I'm taking care of them, and it's a good thing I got them, because after this, I'm going to go home, still got some daylight, do some work, and take care of the cats, and wait for sleep that don't come, and hope that I still got a place when this is all said and done. Now, get booted out, or Told I can't do what I need to do anymore. And I can't speak for everyone, but I've heard that there's been an older gentleman in his 80s told he's got five days to mow or trim his fence or he's going to get fined $500. There's other places that have been told, well, you know, your commercial is a conditional use permit, but that's not a threat. I think everything's being just too heavy-handed and the costs associated with it are just exorbitant. I don't want or need anybody to reply to me. I just want to be heard. And sorry if I break down, but I'm just doing all I can. And as a small reminder, June is men's mental health awareness month. I just hope that all this stuff doesn't push someone too far. And then when it comes back, you guys get to say, well, what happened? Thank you.

We have a transfer of a liquor license hearing and we have signed affidavits that have been received from David Dershon of Bushwhackers for the property at 111 South Main that he sold to Margaritas. And we will now hold the hearing for that liquor license transfer. This is the time and place for the hearing on the retail on sale and package off sale liquor license applications for Margarita's LLC at 111 South Main Street. The public hearing is now open. If any member of the commission has a conflict of interest with this issue, they should so state and abstain for participation in this hearing. Okay. Louis Guzman with Margaritas has submitted retail on sale and package off sale liquor license applications. David Dershen with Bushwackers has submitted affidavits for the license. I know Jeff actually is working to find somebody, because the one ditch on the north side of Innovation is half alfalfa. So he's going to see if Gannon wanted to mow it down, since he's leasing the field from him anyway to grow alfalfa.

I see the field's cut.

Yeah. our mower, we can go out there and we can get like two to three feet, the flat portion on the side of the road, but we don't have the equipment to do the angles of those ditches. But Jeff is working on, just talked to him about it in the last week.

I know he's not picking favorites, and we're not asking him to let up on somebody or go after anybody if we get a complaint in City Hall. Last year, over 100 were sent out. It's a lot. Yeah.

I know I got calls when we went 2-1, and I'm not defending, but I guess as a commissioner, I'd like to know the stages of who

I can agree to that, because it's happened in evenings. I'm getting phone calls from particular citizens, and I know nothing of the letters that have been sent out. So you're getting caught like three weeks behind, or whatever it is. And you're like, catch me up to speed on what's going on, because that part is not communicated to us, or I think people think we know. Right.

I don't know how we can fix that. I can ask him for an update on outstanding parcels, I guess.

I mean, if he got a second notice, not that I want to intervene, I just would like to know. So like we just said, so we know what's coming.

Where are we with citywide cleanup?

Well, I think that we will be announcing this week after we get a few more details figured out, that we will be on July 13th through the 17th. We have two haulers lined up. Canton Home and Farm is going to purchase mattress bags so that we can require folks to put their mattresses into bags before we pick them up. And yeah, July 13th through the 17th.

So we're going around the whole town?

And Canton Home and Farm is going to sell these bags?

Yeah, the mattress bags. Yep, we'll put that out with the original posting.

How's the electronics portion?

That starts next week. It starts on Monday. It starts on Monday? Yep, we're running it Monday through Saturday of next week.

Is the list for that on the Facebook page? Because I know it's in City Hall, but is it on the Facebook page?
