Town Council - Regular Meeting

And we've got enough to start the meeting. And the first thing we'll do is look at the minutes. So I was not here last time, so we'll look at that and make sure it looks very clear. And we've got it posted right now. and their their days are up too i get bids on everything yep i'm in it so they get this for that too well what i want to do over there i want to clean the trees up there in the front so people can see when they pull up my street because you cannot see nothing i've seen ups guys up there inch now and other delivery trucks i'd like to get that trimmed up and then you know do the rest of it later

Yeah, right here, Miller's. We can't get ahold of nobody. I've tried to call her. I'd like, you know, at least get her boarded up. You know, it's not safe for kids around there. So we've got three properties, right? Yeah, and I know one time there was a homeless guy that stayed in there with a wife. Because I've seen him come out of it. Lately? It was just about a month ago.

Have we given any kind of notice over there?

I can't get a hold of him. Okay. He's got two boys, and I don't know how to get a hold of him. I've got her phone number, her cell phone number, but she's not answering it. There's no answer over there, right?

Hey, it costs a fortune to tear them all down. I mean, you're talking $100,000 plus. Yeah, and you could probably ask us to cite it.

Oh, yeah. It comes into a hazard situation. I mean, you're... Yeah, you're $3,000 to $5,000 for an inspection to test for asbestos spinning up the paint on the square foot. I won't throw it right now. I'm off yet. I'll tear it down at a restaurant.

Yeah, I mean, that's what the problem is, right? the problems it causes, but the alternative is what do we do, right? Everybody has constitutional rights to their property, and so we have to go through a process. And then ultimately, the bottom line is that we will get stopped for the bill because we don't have money. So this walked. And so the cleanup will be on us, or the teardown or everything else.

So then it becomes, do we have the money to do that? The town people really want Say they hit, you know, they're in violation of the ordinance and it cost us $1,000 to clean it up. Is that a felony? They don't pay it?

No.

Because it's not like stealing money from the town? It's not?

But it is, you know, we can lien the property. That's the deal. sell it though.

This one over here too, in this house over here, the gargoyle house, it's up for fair sale in October.

Yeah. So, you know, if you get it cheap enough. Right, that's the thing, whoever buys it.

I mean, it's attached to everything. Even if the town doesn't buy it, if you get it cheap enough, you can clean it up, tear it down, sell it off. Yeah, it makes money.

I mean, you know, you're six, seven hundred bucks a dumpster. They've got, you know, six ton limits on them. If you go over tonnage, then you're that. You've got the labor, the equipment, the fuel, everything else. You know, you're taking $15,000 quickly.

I guess, I mean, I don't like it, but I say we should clean it up. I'd rather it be clean and us pay for it than it look terrible.

I'll get some bids and see what I come up with.

And maybe you can talk to Give us, you know, a package price or something of that nature, you know what I mean? Because there's quite a bit of work there. Instead of hauling equipment, I mean, I do this just because I know, you know, I'm going to give them a better deal to do three of your projects than I am just to do more than one. Because I don't have to haul the equipment back and forth. Did you second that motion on my first item?
