City Council - Regular Meeting

I'm the executive director of the Borger Chamber of Commerce. I'm so excited to be part of this community. I've been here about seven years and I love seeing the growth.

Whether you're a current business owner, downtown dreamer, or somebody with a great idea, you deserve a seat at the table.

My job is to help with any zoning questions or building safety questions that may or may not require a permit. I'm here to help you with any of your water service needs, such as turning on and off service, any billing questions you may have.

We're there to help you navigate all of those systems to help you get involved in your business or promote it. So we offer complimentary services for branding, for marketing, for social media, for their website design.

Our goal with this event is to make you feel like you have a whole team of professionals right behind you wanting to make your dreams happen.

I'm here to help you with any zoning or building safety type questions. So I try to help keep your neighborhood safe and I try to make a difference daily. I use my knowledge as a coach to keep people safe. I look forward to seeing you at the Seat at the Table.

Good evening. City Council meeting, July 7th at 630. At this time, we'll stand for the pledge and prayer by Councilman Lawrence.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Father God, we humbly approach your throne, Father, asking that you give this council wisdom and insight, Father, and show us the way that you'd have us to go for such a time as this, Father. Lord, we ask that you just bless this community and all its surroundings, Father. Lord, we give thanks for the rain that you blessed us with, Father. And we ask, God, that you just help us to be what you called us to be, those that would stand in the gap for others. In Jesus Christ's name we pray. Amen.

At this time, we'll have any questions or comments from any citizen. And I see none, so we'll move on to the consent agendas, items 5, 6, 7, and 8. If there's no questions or comments, then I'll entertain a motion.

Do I have a second? I'll second. All in favor? And it passes. And the next item to be considered is Item 9, consider and take appropriate action on Resolution R-022-26, nominating a candidate to fill a position on the TML Intergovernmental Risk pull Board of Trustees. Mr. Spadlin

So TML IRP is who is our insurance provider. That's property, auto, cyber, workers' comp, all of that stuff. Previously, the panhandle had been represented by Jeffrey Snyder, the city manager in Plainview. Jeffrey Snyder left Plainview to become the assistant director of TML IRP. So when that happened, his board position came open. The board filled in David Rutledge, who's the mayor of Bridge City. In that position, that position has now come up to its term. Can I go? yeah and so that term is expired and it's in its up there are actually three positions up uh normally we don't necessarily nominate one uh the panhandle city managers we discussed about needing somebody from the panhandle on that board because right now there is not somebody from the panel on the board so i thought you might want to consider nominating me to fill that position i did pick position the place three because that is the one that the panhandle had been in. I don't necessarily have anything against Mayor Rutledge. If you've been around him, he's, I think, fairly knowledgeable. But I still do think it might be important to have somebody from the panhandle. And so all this does is we put my name on the ballot, and then we get the ballots and have to, all the councils will take action on that later in August.

I move to approve Resolution R-022-26, nominating City Manager Gerrit Spradling to place three of the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool Board of Trustees. I second.

And all in favor? And it passes. And then moving on to Executive Session in compliance with Chapter 551, Texas Government Code, Open Meetings Law, the Council will retire into Executive Session relative to Section 551.072 for discussions regarding the purchase, exchange, lease, or value of real estate property and Section 551.074 for discussions regarding personnel matters. 10, discuss Borger, Inc.'s requesting purchase of the following properties, 508 North Main Street, 510 North Main Street, 729 North Main Street, And number 11, discuss the roles, governance, and board responsibilities of the Borger Economic Development Corporation's Board of Directors and the Borger Main Street Project Board, including the duties and responsibilities of the Executive Director and Main Street Coordinator. And so it is... 635. Okay.
