Planning Commission - Regular Meeting

So we have ordinance number 2026-03-2022. excuse me, 07-03, an ordinance of the Town Council of the Town of Atlanta, Indiana to amend the fences and walls height. And this amends the ordinance 7.21, which is FN-01 from, that's currently written as three feet. HEIGHT IN THE FRONT YARD TO FOUR FEET HEIGHT IN THE FRONT YARD SO I BELIEVE AS A PLANNED COMMISSION WE WOULD VOTE TO MAKE A RECOMMENDATION TO OUR COUNCIL TO DO THIS AND THEN THIS WOULD GET PASSED AT THE COUNCIL MEETING IF THAT'S WHAT THE RECOMMENDATION IS DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS OR ANY CONCERNS ABOUT MAKING THIS CHANGE I don't personally yeah I believe our intention was and I don't think it got updated but I know we voted in the past they can go from 36 to 42 inches but that was purely to make make it easier for residents to build or replace a fence because certain available fencing that's a fairly standard size, we believed at the time, but if there's fences that are a 48-inch height standard or close to it, I'm all for making people's lives easier.

Whereas the town of Atlanta, playing commission, the playing condition. has received requests to modify the maximum height of a fence or wall located in the front yard, and whereas the zoning ordinance 7.21 presently exists, which establishes the maximum height of a fence or wall located in the front yard, and whereas it has been determined by the Planning Commission that the existing zoning ordinance 7.21, specifically FN-01C, needs amended as outlined in exhibit a and whereas the plan commission has reviewed and considered this amending zoning ordinance plan at the meeting and now therefore be resolved by the atlanta town plan commission as follows the plan commission incorporates the recitals the plan commission finds the amendment 47.21 fn-01 as detailed in his exhibit a is certified and receives a favorable recommendation And the Plain Commission hereby directs the amendment to be presented to the town council for adoption into the town of Atlanta's code of zoning ordinances. Proposed and certified this the 27th day of July, 2026.
