record for the club. Okay. All right. I'll call this meeting to order at 4:35. Um, roll call. Roll call. Uh, Jacob. Oh, here. What are we doing? I I left my phone over there somehow. Uh, Bill vice chair Linda present. Judy here and Shannon secretary all here. Alrighty. Um let's look over the minutes for the April 14th meeting.
Oh wait, no I do have that. Sorry. 14th for June. Oh, that's not No, that's a campaign. I saw I saw minutes and I was like, that's it. Should be June. Oh, June 19th, July 16th.
Oh, I think Oh gosh, I'm in the wrong month. You're in the wrong. Yeah. Do not know why I keep forgetting a copy of last month. July. All right. Not April 14th. June 18th. Yes.
It's a huge piece. Yeah. That's my bad. I should have brought that. A copy of for everybody of last last month's agenda, right? Oh, the minutes you didn't get. Well, you know, everybody should grab them, you know, but Yeah, I I do not I space that every time. Okay. So, I have a note myself. Yeah, they're all online, so they're in your packet, you know. So, we just I can I can show youall how to do that. Yeah, I mean we could we can print them out for y'all. I mean, it's not that big a deal, you know, to to print some out anytime,
but I mean, some, you know, we've gotten used to it on the on the council just we know it's in the packet, so we just don't bother printing the packet out, but our packet can be literally 300 and something pages. Yours is like four, you know, so we don't print the packet out, but No, no, that's I mean, it's it's not that big a deal. Yeah. Did you get this one? Is this what what you're looking for? Yes, I do. Yeah, I didn't see I didn't print it up. I need to remind myself to do that before each meeting unless we get it, you know, signed, you know, same day. Okay. So, that's what I'm going for. That's my goal is to I got you. Yeah. Okay.
Yeah. Oh my goodness. Pass all the way down to Judy. Uh, do I see approval for the minutes? Show of hands. Or does any everyone else approve the parks minutes for June 18, 2025? Show hands. Judy, do you want to see? No, I was just Did someone second it? Sorry.
All right. Okay. Oh, I would just like to say Jeff said the summary was really good. It was AI who you said, but it's very informative. Did Did y'all get that? I guess. So this is I think was really a good summary to of the Navy and it's not minutes that's that distinction a recap is sort of telling the story the minutes basically all you men should do is record those you know motions and books
is is the essence of minutes. So the recap is sort of oh yeah so Okay. Item number one, we're going to discuss and take possible actions for a volunte. Oh, okay. I didn't see that. Yeah. So, there a couple things that um that we I need to bring to your one is that the council took up, you know, the water tank at the triangle.
Um they took that up on on our agenda last week. about what to do if anything you know to beautify that that area you know paint it like it is it's good way to do is bad way you know so um so um council has asked your board and also our little subcommittee that we have on public art that is basically me Chris Um Kathy Carlson and Danny Jones mixture of local artists. Chris has a masters in public art.
So it's a wonder informal right now. We've worked with um arts.org you know just sort of bouncing ideas around. We have many steps but the council asked that group also But then you know the suggestion was that the two groups you know could collaborate on what's the best course of action. It's your tank essentially. Right. I mean, thank you. You know, as as it's in a fart, right? Right. So, so then so then it's it's just something we're going to ask. I think you got it on your agenda to discuss. Okay.
And so that's what that's about. Thank you very much.
Thank you.
So we are in that process. So you know for some numbers there and you know go ahead don't don't hesitate to come down and you know get with Jim or me or anybody and say you know we just want to talk through some of these things and see what's what's feasible as far as budget goes. And then we did take, you know, remember when we were down and did our informal meeting at Augusta. They went out today, Jim and then Becket Bruner, who our management company guy. Um, apparently there are like 12 culprits in town that run under city city roads because we said, "Hey, you know, we we need to take a look at all these. I mean, not just the Augusta, you know, where it overflowed Augusta Drive. Um, but we need Well, there's
a quite 12 culverts that run under city roads that channel water and some of them, but strangely enough, Becket got crawled down on our set. I said, "It's clear. I can see right there." Oh, really? So, so that was just a lot of water if it obviously should larger. Okay. You know, otherwise the water would have done a little search, right? Right. But so so anyway, they're they're taking some action and we'll keep I think that's okay. Thank you. So it was clear. So
yeah, I just have right no idea when I look at that. I didn't down that part. Oh, none of us did. So, Jim, I'm sorry. One more thing.
Part of the report is not on the agenda, but Jacob has been working on a tree in my yard in our yard. I've had to take it down. This is a very large oak tree with 18 inch diameter stump or so. And um we're going to donate some of the pieces to the library for their play area. Still unstepping things
but there's so much of it. We talked to Jacob said we like to donate um you know to the city for Augusta Park. So, if that's something that y'all would like to see, it's kind of that loose parts thing that talked about just a little another little jump around player. It would have to be up top where it's accessible um to um to the anybody that's like has a has any any mobility issues. But but you know if y'all are interested in taking some of those
How soon do you Is it already cut a tree? Okay. How soon do you want it gone? Okay. ASAP.
So is it oak welt on on that tree? It's not. Okay. So it does not have to program the city has. Um, and so Jacob was already familiar with the tree, but we said we want the city arborist to come out and certify whether it is or it's not. And so they did. They said it's not Oakville, but poor thing. And so come six limbs during that is so sad. Okay. Okay. So, it doesn't need to be bagged up and like
no quarantined for a couple of years. Okay. Oh, okay. Okay. Thank you. Okay. And thank you, Jeff. What a great report.
All right. Okay, item number one, we're going to disc discuss discuss and take possible action for a volunteer uh between tree and parks and uh community relations. So, we need a point of contact from this board that would like to meet with community relations quarterly, maybe monthly uh just as events are going on in the park. Do I hear any volunteers?
Yeah, they're probably the same process. They're naming somebody. our person their person with their person uh just with their person or the group. Yeah. Uh we're also I don't know if this is relevant. We're also considering uh doing a quarterly meeting with them in general. Anyways, so our uh every three months our tree board and their community relations board would have a uh dual meeting like that. Y
that' be good. But we need a a point of This would be once once a month meeting uh as needed mostly, but potentially once a month. Um do you know when they meet? I Thursday morning at 11:30 the first Thursday of the month. Wow. Okay.
Thursday mornings. I can't say for but I think that at least Iris and maybe somebody else may be appointed from it too. I would be happy to serve. I'm I'm free on Thursdays. Okay. So, uh, and it doesn't have to be at their meeting. Um,
just it can be an email, it can be a phone call, uh, just someone to be the PO, point of contact. Judy, are you you're interested? Uh, yes, because I've been concerned that we didn't have dates and things like that already for our tree giveaway and arbor day. So, yeah. I'm interested in that. Okay. Thank you. I think they are dates now, but when I was asking about it, I didn't know. So,
yeah. Yeah. We have a we have a item coming up that's going to talk about some days or one specifically. Okay. Item number two, discuss and take possible action of setting November 9th, 2025 between 3 and 5:00 in the afternoon as the date for our tree giveaway that we are just talking about. So, no, um, November 9th, I think, is a Sunday. I'm going to double check here. But so the reason we chose that it's cool cool weather or we haven't chosen it yet. The reason we're
considering considering it uh it's cool weather and it's also close to the Texas Arbor Day. Um we like to celebrate the Texas Arbor Day as well as the National Arbor Day. So November 9th. Nope. It's a No, it is a Sunday. There's a Texas server. Yeah. I I don't I can't remember what day it is. It's someday early November. Okay. Um and remember that really the reason that we started doing the giveaway in November,
right? Right. Prime prime time to plant the tree for regular day. Yeah. Okay, that totally makes sense. Okay, where do these come from? We purchased them either from a nursery. Sometimes they've been uh donated by nurseries. Um I think that's up for discussion. where where they what are we going to what are we going to give away how does that fall in the budget? Um where are we going to get them?
What resources are available? Um so in the past I've purchased trees from wholesale nurseries at well at a wholesale cost. Um and um I I think that's on the table again this year. Al also we should discuss how what what the format's going to be. There's been years where we've given away like 50. Well, last year was 50. We had 25 at first. Uhhuh. And then they went so fast that we had 25 more.
Okay. So yeah, we purchased 50 trees last year and gave away 50 trees uh of assorted desert willow, southern magnolia, and if I remember correctly, red bud um I don't remember. No, you got a red bud. I got magnolia are doing great. Are they? They're going to take the place of some of the live oaks we lost. Oh, perfect. We're looking for the perfect places for Pardon.
Well, do we want to stick with those? Are those the really like the the cream of the crop that do the best here? Um, I wouldn't say that. That's what I had available. Okay. Or or not. Okay. my nursery that I bought from had available for the price uh that we were willing to pay. If I remember right, I think we only paid $5 a piece. Um so it was it came in really low. Uh we got a good deal on those. I can I can start looking now and see what's available uh in the coming months, weeks,
and we can continue this conversation of what we want to how much we want to spend and um the assortment and then if y'all have resources as well, please. I mean, um, that place that's on the way on 12, uh, on the way into dripping like Yeah. ATX.
Uh, yeah. So, our very first our very first Arbor Day at um, Camp Young Judea, they donated a a really large crepe myrtle. And I think they donated a cedar elm, too. Did they donate that? I think you're right. They donated two large trees to us. Um Albert is his name. Super nice guy. Um Okay. But um did you go to them again for the next year and um or you just wanted to branch out or
I Well, so what the the what we ran into is giving away a tree that big. Not everyone's going to have a space for that tree. Sure. So it sat out in the front yard and withered away. Not good. So Oh, yeah. The one that we get the We donated to CJ Campa um in thanks for hosting us, right? So they they got to one and it was a demonstration. So Jacob and people and showed everybody exactly how to
Yeah, it it was a good event. We had a great time. Uh but that's why we're not giving They don't And I think that's I think that's the hangup. Um, I think the smallest gallon size he has maybe like 30, which is still a large size. He only has Well, I mean, Jacob's got the contacts, you know, being in business to get us a good deal. We just sort of dig him. So, he will do it. I think it's smart. Uh, yeah. A great price. I mean, I That's 10. 50 again. That's the side 250 bucks.
So, you know, throw, you know, put $300 down your budget and then I think that Well, I guess that doesn't include the Willow because the Willow will I can't remember what the cost of willer was. Will Wilbur will Oh, so we would have to add that cost and decide if we want to do another planting in a park or a green space. Um Jack, back to you getting the trees. Are you also um comfortable storing those for us? Remember, we had to find somewhere to keep those trees for a month or two. So, yes, ma'am. I have a
garage or wherever. I have a small nursery outside of town here. Okay. Um we use rainwater. We have rainwater collection and we do what we can. what what makes it makes it what doesn't doesn't.
Okay. Anyways, uh what we're discussing is is November 9th in the afternoon 3 to 5 going to be going to be an issue with anybody or sports or anything in the community like that y'all might be able to think of that would uh be competing with it. and trans the pie social or uh I don't see I don't know when this stuff is
I don't think it okay
all right October is the crazy what about the Veterans Day is the 11th the harvest moon dance you know anything about that day the harvest moon dance which is the wick. It's in November I think a Saturday. But you know this is you know if you if you vote you make a motion you vote for November 9th as something comes up. Okay. It's not stone. Okay. Do we have some kind of program associated with
Can we move when we move to the next topic that can address that? Yep. So, does that need a motion? We need a motion. Um, I make a motion that we um have the tree giveaway on November 9th between between 3 and 5 p.m. I second it. Okay. Can I see a show of hands in agreeance? The eyes have it. Have we have we discussed location?
Um item number three, discuss and take possible action to coordinate a lunch and learn with Aquatex for educational uh purposes. give me an update on that before any motion or anything made. I did talk to Lauren Savior with Texas um who had brought this to us in the first place, you know, a while ago and I'll be hold Thank you, Monica. I appreciate it was wonderful.
Yes, thank you all. Um but uh but anyway, they are still on board. Um, and we were talking about, you know, what like an educational component would be for the learn part of lunch and learn. And it doesn't necessarily have to be lunch, but they would sponsor, you know, food and fun and and stuff and and then an educational program. So, you know, they were talking about we'll find, you know, somebody from Plant Society or Metro or Metro Gardener or something, you know, to give the presentation, which would dubtail real nicely into the tree giveaway because they could be talking about, you know, how to care for your new tree and your other trees um in times of drought, you know. So, so that was that was sort of the proposal. kill two bird with blue stone and and have and that way we have sponsor some sponsorship for the tree giveaway through. So that was that's the
if they're available they would probably give some kind offormational um talk about water use or whatever but that's that's the that's the thought. So, did you say we would not do lunch then if it doesn't start? It might be hot dogs or something. It's like 3:00, you know, sort of between meals. So, just provide refreshments or something. Yeah. Did we decide where we would do this? Which park or
We have not. Uh we can we can discuss that in our next meeting. I don't think it's on anything um today. So, we should definitely add that to our agenda and continue the conversation of the tree giveaway uh going forward until November 9th, but I think it's a great idea to get Aqua involved um because they, you know, will be floating floating the bill for the beverages, a reason, another reason for people to come out and uh be a community member. I
think our community would be really curious as to what has to say. I think part of it part of it is that public relations, you know, that's on their wish list. Oh, I forgot to mention one thing. They also um plan to donate a couple of rain barrels for like a drawing. Oh, cool. Um so that's they've already got that. In fact, I gave him a source for the the Ivy Methodist Church. I don't know if they followed up on that or not, but yeah. So, they'll do they'll do some rain barrels for for
I have a question concerning that. Jeff, does a person have to have a permit to do one a rain barrel 50gallon rain barrel like that? Okay. Do I hear a motion for getting Aquatex's involved potentially for November 9th? If not, I'll make one. Okay. I'd like to make a motion to get Aqua Texas involved with our tree giveaway on November 9th and start coordinating that.
I'll second. Yeah. Show hands. I can help that coordination. Make sure the introduction.
Do we need to pick someone? Should should we pick abody point of contact? Anybody have an interest in coordinator? Well, um but I'm I'm assuming you'll be working with them, but if I could help in any way, I will because I'd love to know more about the rain barrels, too.
We have to come over lunch. Yeah. Hot dog. It's a tree giveaway. Yeah. All you need to say is free food. Yeah, I thought that would be a good ent. Oh, okay. There we go. Trying to get out of here, but Okay, so which which one do we need to get to for that? Um, all right. Okay. Discuss and take possible action on consulting radon Tilly in regards to our new updated parks plan.
Okay. So, the update on that is I was out on my walk this morning and as I was walking by Rayon's house, he's coming out the door. I say, "Right on, right on. I just there's something you need to know." And he's going, "What is um well, you're on tonight's agenda to approach for consultation on updating your master plan." Sorry. Um and he goes, No, thank you. I really want to be So,
so he is he is not but um but close the door, open the window. I I I just texted Ted Gartner, our contract PIO, public information officer, who kind of helped us with the newsletter and and um ask him if he would be available to help with sort of editorial content just to, you know, whatever you all needed in terms of so you're not have to sit down and write everything up that he could say, "Hey, Ted, can you write based on this part and that part?" And our experience with Ted working on the newsletter is we give him a germ of an idea and he writes up a really good little little about it.
So he just makes it really really easy and he's already under contract so we don't have to you know create any new new stuff. I mean we might need to I haven't talked to him about you know money but he's under retainer now. So it may be that hey depending on what it is I mean that's working within your retainer. It may not cost us anything to do that. If it does cost us anything, it won't be still budget something for it because you're going to have to budget something for it anyway. What does it say?
His name is Ted G. G A R T N E R. So, you don't have to you don't have to vote on that at this point except just say that um you might say make the motion to proceed proceed to make other for um for support and then we just negotiate. But he's in Seattle right now. He's he's visiting his family in Seattle. So can't really can't really have him come in, but it would be sit down and talk about what that might look like. So that that's just what
Okay. Ted Gardner is our potential master parks plan editor. Good for Do I see a show a hand or um I wouldn't go so far as to as to name Ted because we may not be able to come to terms. Okay. Um I think we will. I don't think it's going to be a problem. But what you can what you can vote on is whether to additional steps since Mr. Tilly is not Okay, that's the agenda. You got to deal with the agenda item. Okay.
Right. Um do do we have a votes for Ted Gardner? Uh no. Oh, okay. Just to see you. thinking other Mr. M is not available to help on the revisions to the park plan to um seek other support. Yes. Okay. what he said.
Um yeah, [Music] sounds good. Nice sum. That's nice summary. Show of hands. Eyes have it. and beautiful. All right. Well, happy birthday. Yes. All right. Take care. Have a good rest of your day. Absolutely. Yeah. Anybody? No. Oh, I did.
I really did. Okay. [Laughter] She informally did and now she formally
she could have told me she um she conspired with the family on Sunday. So when I walked in to our our son's house um you know the door was on that order all the car there and nobody ever arrives on time. Yes. Walk in my our grandson. He's got a mess of me. I mean they photos of me blew them upside like card stock and made out. The entire room was me looking back at them. It was that's gotta be wild.
So Mike can That is kind of cool. It was funny. It was hilarious. And then and then Tabby can show you what they did to me at camp. Oh my gosh, that was interesting. 20 kids. Oh gosh. Okay. Well, I guess you have to divide it in half. It's been an awesome birthday. Yeah, it sounds like it. Have a good evening.
There you go. Now you're set. Thanks.
Alrighty. Um, we're going to enter a workshop at 5:11. And this workshop is to discuss our budget line items. How are we gonna spend all that chedda we got from the city? What did we get? 10,000 and then we have a match. So kind of we have 20,000 10,000 but that's up in the air.
Absolutely. Um Okay. Yeah. So, for this tree giveaway, community relations is going to gonna be taking a portion of that that bill. Okay. Okay. How we're going to divide that up? We I don't know. Yeah, that won't that won't be that much really from what you if if we get aqua in there, it may not be anything. Be wonderful. It would. Um and the the $10,000 grant is separate.
Yes. And I I think that's going to be determined in November or maybe February. I can't remember. Anyways, that's
uh 10,000 is our budget. And it sounds like it needs to go there. And Jason, I wanted to ask I mean Jacob, I'm not sure whether it was ever brought to the attention of the council about the Augusta Park and Jacob Stone Ciphers proposal. Was has any does anybody know anything about that? And because that would come under our budget, I would think if we hired him, it would not come under our budget. Um, it would come under just the city's general maintenance contractor. Okay. Uh, and so
was it even mentioned? I listened to the whole meeting. You did? I did online and I it was never even mentioned that I heard. It may be on a on a on a later um agenda maybe uh council meeting.
It just may not have made it on their agenda yet. They do, my understanding is they have a lot going on right now. Well, um, then that brings up I got another call or text from Becky, the lady that lives over there, and she is really urging us to get over there and do some work. She said there patches of things, invasives that need to be dug up, the another flowers going to the head, and she said it's going to take over. And so would y'all like to consider a work day to do?
She she's willing to help. I've got a bum knee. I'm not supposed to be bending my knee. So I'm I'm sort of out of the picture until I get better. So how are we going to We basically thought we would do some things over there, but then Right. It didn't become part of any plan. But when it started we had all that rain too. Oh, that's true. The rain just now we can discuss this on a later item number seven. Uh we're going to be talking about what we talked about at the parks meeting. Uh right now we are on the budget discussing the budget. Uh
will be on that maintenance budget as well. Correct. Yes ma'am. Uh yeah, that's Jeff mentioned that earlier. He there's 12 culverts throughout the city is what he found out. Um that's 11 more than I realized. Um so yeah, uh maintenance like that that's going to be under just the city's contractor services. Um yeah, that's Yeah, because that was part of our
I I don't think any kind of maintenance is going to come out of our budget. our budgets for events that we hold, things that we want to build in parks. Um, some planting. Yeah. So, events, structures, plantings.
So, the um the decorating the water tower in triangle was something that Jeff bridge the rainwater tank um was that something that he wanted us to discuss that council meeting I don't know that they came to a okay so are we waiting for them to make a decision as to what they would like to do and then we take action Okay.
Okay. All right. Well, I got the impression, Taffy, from listening to it that they just wanted to wanted us to decide that and they were split. I mean, it was heated Yeah. uh discussion. Some want to leave it just like it is, not to disguise it in any way because they said, "We want to bring that to the forefront of how important it is." Others said they had people in the community that were really upset about how it looked and wanted it to be painted or
So, it's And then others suggested building a structure around it like over at Augusta Park. So, it's all over the ballpark. What I heard what I heard Jeff say at the beginning of the meeting was that the uh council has asked parks us and a council subgroup on parks to be that would be the on this the there's an art uh yeah there's art art committee is that part of the city? Yeah, I didn't even know that exist. Yeah. So, our our board and their committee uh it sounds like they're going we're going to collaborate on this.
We I mean uh we're not going to make any decisions. What we can do is give suggestion um consult with the art art department outdoor out committee not department. So, so consult with the art committee and present something to council. Yeah. Um, it doesn't sound like they they've made a decision one way or another. No, this is also another item. Item number eight. Uh, yeah. Okay. Sounds like comment. We can create a We can make that a line item.
That's what I That was what I think. That's a good idea. Yeah. I see. Yeah. Yeah. Satellite.
Do are we going to discuss what we think? Yes, ma'am. Is this the time? Um, I would just say that I really like what was done with the tank over at the museum with the murals with the I think that looks real pretty because it depicts a story of Wimberly. And we might could pick up on some things stored with creek. Uh but there again
it could be a solid color or it could be left silver. I personally think it does stand out as it's like when I drive by that's the first thing I see. I don't see the gazebo anymore. Um and so I sort of think it'd be nice to tone it down if there were some way to tone it down. That would be well personally I think that stand out quite a bit and just some color of green at the minimum they can blend in the surroundings. So so at a minimum the something like a moss grain and then at a maximum looking at a mural
which would be very expensive if you had to hire that but but we might have artists on the committee that could do that. Like Chris Gummer. Yeah, he did the one in front of Keller Williams. The mural. The boot. Oh, okay. Oh, the boot. Yeah. Do the boot. Could you paint it in the form of a boot? Would there be any way to just make it look like a boot? We we talked about that and evidently the council has really very varying opinions on the boots. Oh.
Oh, I'm sorry. That was Becca who told me that. But yeah, she said different opinions, right? But yeah, I like the idea of a mural. Personally, um I don't hate the idea of a mural. I mean, we could even do some plantings at the base and then some and then uh How much should we budget for this? I'm thinking 2500. just to be roundish. I have no idea. It sounds good to me. I be a quarter of our budget. Um
so we we are discussing quarter of our budget. No clue. Well, but I don't know. We just need the equal 10,000. Um, and that that may be something that the uh I say we go for getting it free if there's any way possible and then but I Right. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Right. Yeah.
And we don't have to Yeah. We don't have to use all of that on that project. um we can divert funds to another project or if we if that project turns out to be a little bit more expensive, we can we can move funds from another portion of our budget to there. Is that right? Okay.
Okay. I love it. That's okay. I like it. You don't want to get too specific. Okay. So, parks beautifification $2,500 for this project and maybe others. Um, right. Is that what
Yeah, potentially others. If if if we need to draw from this 2500, I think that's going to be okay. Um, tree giveaway. How much money should we spend on trees to give away on November 9th? And I if if if we want to um do an April giveaway as well. That's in the past what we have done. Is that right?
Twice. I'm asking you give away. Uhhuh.
$1,000 for two giveaways. A thought on that is, do we know if people are really planting these trees? Are we getting any kind of feedback from people who get them? Um, we had talked about trying to get pictures submitted at one time, but you know, do we Yeah. So that Yes. Of course, it's it's not that big, but it's still doing it's at least alive. Yeah. We have in emails. Yeah.
Yeah. Uh, yes. Oh, I think that'd be good. It should. It should. I think they're downloadable. Yeah, put them in our newsletter or
something. I remember I got I think 500 brochures of of how to plant a tree and I'll have to dig those up. Oh, yeah. What could the a monthly newsletter have a picture of or two of people who trees were successful or would that be we could do some Yeah. Yeah.
Love that. I know. Um, so yeah, I like that idea of 500 500. Is that is that reasonable? I mean, you've done trees and paths. Is that Absolutely. I mean, I think Oh. Oh, my gosh. I think last year we spent 750. No, 350 per event, I think, is what we we had in our budget for the for last year's tree plant. uh for tree giveaways. So, we could go above and beyond what we did last year, which I think is a great idea. Instead of 50, let's go for 75. Um not a whole lot more, but
that came out of the budget. Yeah. Um so, the entire amount would go for everything, not just torch trees. It would just go for the the entire event. Is that correct? Also, okay. So, what does that bring us to per event? Uh 500. Yeah,
I agree. I think it's a great event. And so also because community relations is going to be involved in this and in the logistics um some of this is going to be in their budget as well. Is that right? My understanding as well. So we could spend more on trees and have community relations pick up the slack. Yeah. Okay. But this is rais
and this isn't actually due until October. Is that right? That's when October 1st or new fiscal year starts to be approved. Okay. September.
Okay. Um it doesn't have to all be decided today, but I mean getting a rough idea I think is a good uh foot forward. And if something happens between now and next month's meeting, someone has an idea of our funds should be pointed this direction instead of this direction. I mean, we we have a little bit of time to discuss this.
Um, I don't think we're going to make a a final decision today on on these line. Okay. Okay. And this should tie into our review of all the parks that we're doing in person. It should what? We don't really know what we're going to how much money should we allocate to the master plan
2500.
So that's just the the master plan would have a breakdown of what we recommend for each park through our review that we've started. I think so. I I I would see that in a master plan. Uh my favorite part of the last master plan was um the three to five year plan and their five to 10 year plan and having an idea or having um a sense of having a direction to go. I mean where do we want to be in three years? Where do we want to be in five years? Where do we want to be in 10 years? Where do we want our not us but our parks? Where do we want our parks to be in those times? Um, do we want another park like a skate park?
So, the comprehensive plan and going through some of those, right? because that's where that's the comprehensive plan is where the survey is like we can go back and see and look at what people really wanted to see within the neighborhood right review go back and review that comprehensive that's um and do we continue with our visits scheduling those we do want to continue with that so we can I mean we we've only done Augusta and stiller. There's so much to Oh, just Augusta. Yeah.
And pictures. And I mean, um, we don't have to nail down the real costs, but an estimated costs. Uh, how much is it going to be to take pictures to to potentially hire Ted Gardner above his retainer? Um, how much is it going to cost to upload this document to the website? Uh, I mean there's there's costs involved. Um, what was the original? Did you throw in a figure?
I I said 2500. I'm I'm using round uh I'm using big numbers. Brown. I mean, you know, something to to add up easily. Not like 350 here, 200 here, 100 here. Well, those are reasonable numbers, sir. Okay. 2500. Yeah, I've got 2500. And then uh that leaves us with 6,500. Uhhuh. After the uh parks beautifification and the tree giveaway, that leaves us 6,500. Right.
That does. And I think that 6500 should be used for tree plantings. Just plant some trees or or if I mean maybe the majority of it, let's say 5,000 for to plant some trees and then that's you said 15 what what' you say? 65. That other 1500 could be um native plants. Uh well, what if we identify through our review? What if we identify additional repairs or Well, that would probably flow into the maintenance budget, though. Uhhuh.
So, I think we could be safe in saying we want to put the rest of this money divided in some format or some way with planting trees and native plants. Trees. Yeah. Because we're not just trees. We're we're parks. We're um I think we're all we're basically any green space because trees are in our green spaces.
That includes our byways and um more than just our parks. So, planting trees and native plants uh 5,000 for for for native plantings. So, would we be working with somebody? Um because we don't, you know, we're not going to do it halfhazardly. So, we want we definitely have need a plan. We I I I would think we would work with our city arborist for the tree plantings or a master gardener for the ne uh native plantings.
Okay. Um a or are we talking about um we we could solicit we we could open it up for solicitation. Who wants to okay work with us? But if we do plantings, which I agree would be nice, then who how are we going to get them maintained there? There again, we'll have the same issue we have at Augusta Park. They're begging us to hire somebody to take care of those because there's not enough volunteers. So
we need to think in terms of we may need to hire we may need some budget to if we do hire someone to maintain flowers and
waterfolding that into the uh city budget when we met. I believe he was talking about looking at my somebody adding Oh, okay. Here we go. Um, no, that's not the same one. He was talking about adding it to the maintenance budget where like the the is his name Kelly. I'm not sure. I can't I can't see see right now. But um anyway, like he was going to carry around the water tank on his mule.
Oh, Sean Sean. Sean is an employee of the city and does maintenance uh throughout the city, right? And that's as a possibility is for him to do like maintenance. And I wish I could find it in my notes. I can't see or my glasses, but I think it would be part of the city budget, but I think we would need to bring that up.
It it would absolutely be part of the city budget. Uh I mean maintenance doesn't come out of our budget. Um so we okay as an example we have hired we love we love trees as our city arborist company. Um anytime there's road clearance or sign clearance or hazardous um broken limbs in public areas. We love trees goes out there and goes out there to do the maintenance. Um they've they just they were in town last week, right? Doing
so it may not it may not fall into the native plants that need um maintenance, but definitely the trees. Um, also if we hired Cypress Stone, Jonas Stone, Jonas Stone, so if we were to hire them, we could hire we could have them do ongoing maintenance on new plantings for um the native plants wherever we decide to put them and then it would fold into the city.
It would it would fold into the city budget. Yes, ma'am. That's what we did talk about that using current using city resources for whatever we Yeah. Um it's our responsibility to somewhat get it there and then it's the city's responsibility after that. But it's our our responsibility to identify it. Identify identify it. Um can't leave that out. state. This is so Jeff has um asked us to get at least three um estimates if we do contract work.
If we do contract work, right? I think there's a minimum or a maximum uh where we can hire below below that that threshold without having to solicit bids. And I don't know what that number is. It could be a hundred bucks. Okay. Well, I just Is that not Oh, and I think I understood him to say that as long as we opened it and gave people opportunity. We didn't really have to get a bid from a have three bids as long as we given the opportunities. And if only one person submitted something,
we need to do Am I recalling that correctly? Right. Yes, ma'am. Okay. We need to send it to at least three applications and then if they don't respond, then it's Right. Right. We've done we fulfilled our
So, the city would send out an uh a request for proposal RFP and then there would be a closing date on that. Uh and this is how we did it for choosing our arborist. Uh so there's there may be a month to two months period where this RFP is open and then if no one bids or if no one puts in a proposal in that in that amount of time, it goes to the only person that did or if if there's if all three bids came in or proposals came in, we would interview them and then make our decision um that way. recommendation
uh our recommendation to council who to hire, but okay, I'm I'm just maybe not understanding completely who does what. Again, I'm learning, but uh if we identify what needs to be done to maintain all of the parks and that flows into their budget, then why would we be doing an RFP? Um the city's doing the RFP and they they present the proposals to us, right? And then we recommendation even potentially interview. I mean, yeah.
Uh we had Ralph from we we had one of the owners of We Love Trees come in. Uh Phillip Ralph Ralph Phillip, you know. Uh uh so we had Philip come in and interview um in front of the entire board. Um he was the only one that we did interview. He's the only one that we asked to interview. Uh
I guess I guess what I'm asking is why would we do an RFP when we are just identifying to the council what we need? Oh. what the parks need like we say that you know God do would we say like Augusta Park needs to be watered uh you know once a week I'm sorry we're talking about two different things here I think I probably we wouldn't need an RFP for recommendations of what needs to be done only only for who is going to do it right I I understand that part but I guess okay the city has a maintenance budget
uhhuh And we're going to say uh it's very important to maintain the parks and we think it's important that you uh water once a you know twice a month. I'm making stuff up now. You know, water and weed at least twice a month and and have a schedule and then isn't that what we identified to the counselor? Do we put dollars to that or we where does our recommendation end? I talk with my hands.
Um well, so I don't think we put a dollar amount on there. They they're going to charge what they charge in the city, the person doing the work and the city pays for it. I mean, uh, that's what I was however that, uh, contract is is formatted.
It seems like to me that's the simplest thing is for our board to recommend things that need to be done. and we can as as we go um you see something that needs to be done, we can we can come up with a list of maintenance items and suggest to council that we want these things done um in a timely manner and right
we they either they either accept it or deny it and if they accept it then the person we already have under contract is going be given um that list of things to do by our city manager. That that I think is the best way to go. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, a bunch of it.
Okay. And I think that's a great way to proceed because that does take care of Becky's concern that there's a plan in place and person or group responsible. Well, I think another concern too is that how long is this going to take for someone to get over there, you know, and actually set up? Yeah. I mean, is it going to drag out for months before one person goes with the shovel to dig up the invasive grass or can't we just Yes, ma'am. right to go to Well, so right now actually um
we're we're on a couple little rabbit trails. We are in a workshop discussing the budget and uh we can discuss going forward with this another time um and discuss it under number seven. Yeah, I think that would fit. Yeah, I think so. So, we have $1,500 to decide where it goes. What? I think so. What else? Yeah,
I think we should. Yeah, let's say that. Okay. I think that's why. And who who will talk with uh Jim? Will you would you talk with him to see what uh was the parks budget was done or how it was used last year.
Uh yeah. So then we would we would have that for our continuation of the budget talk. Yes, ma'am. All right. I would like to Jack Cub White, I have one other thing. Um I don't even know if it's appropriate, but last year several of us bought matching t-shirts and of course that wouldn't be a budget item, but would we want to think about doing that again?
Absolutely. that would us or I mean we could buy our own shirt but it was it really was a big hit those that arbor day shirts on arbor day so uh we let's just be thinking about that because we could get them from Amazon a button a button yeah some something that would identify t-shirt tree lives matter. Well, Amazon had great shirts, so we could all get one alike, but but we can't wait until November 1st to decide on that. So, Oh, no.
to about that. Okay. Um, definitely something to to consider there. All right. Uh, do I need to table this or do I need to come out of the workshop first?
Okay, coming out of the workshops 5:47 and I would like to table the discussion of the budget until our next meeting in August. Oh, I need to make a motion. Okay. Sounds good. I second the motions.
Very good. Show hands. The eyes have it. Okay. Okay. Item number seven, discuss and take possible action on notes taken from the Augusta Park meeting.
They were they were in the uh they were online. I don't know if anybody has them who who sent them out. Well, uh, they were my notes that I sent to Shannon and then Jeff wanted them put in the packet for today. So, I don't think I don't think they made it. Could you just tell us they are online where under the minutes? Oh, for the agenda, you know, for this meeting, correct? Oh, thank you. Thank you.
Thank you. Oh, that might be Yeah, that would be helpful. Well, I thought it was a good meeting that we did that and yeah, Linda took she's a great noteaker. Oh, I don't I don't know about that, but I do know it was a good meeting. I liked it. And so, the plan is for us to do each park like that. Just go look at it and see. I think so. Yeah, I think it's very useful. Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, anytime you can get your your your feet on the dirt and see what's going on out there, um that gives us a better idea of what we want to see out of our parks, what we already have, and then um small little changes that may need to improvements. Yeah. Yeah. Addition. Additions. Very easy. Improvements. rearranging. Sometimes you just got to get in there. Okay. Rearranging.
I do want to say that it really is it's um and I'm not sure if if we had designated like one park like Creekide as specifically as a children's park, whereas Augusta is more wildcaping, you know, maybe some games for adults, you know. But I don't know if that was there ever like a designation for Augusta or if it has been like if there's been a larger plan. I don't know.
Um or if people have just been kind of going in and you oh, you know, they have an idea over here and then somebody else comes in and they have an idea for over here. You know, it's just been um a little bit more peace meal. Does that make sense? and kind of um so because whenever I go to Augusta um I I I feel like it's um it's um there's no continuity about it.
It's it's very um it is uh uh it doesn't make sense to me. So it doesn't it's not incredibly inviting to me to be able to walk around in it. Um it's um I don't play bo so so that's one thing but um I know other people do but I don't I think that for me the issue is I don't get it like I am not uh it is not inviting me in and I want our parks to be incredibly inviting
to everyone. So, it's um I I'm ho I'm hoping that we can come up with an overall plan for um and I and again I don't know what preceded this, why it is the way it is and you know how many hands how many chefs have been in the kitchen to create
what's what is going on and I don't necessarily want to disrupt what other people have done but if that is necessary in order for a bigger vision for it to be more inviting, for it to be more um child friendly, to be um just more usable, then I think that I I you know, I I would want to go in that direction. So, you know, what whatever our residents are wanting to see in that park, of course. Um Oh, wait. I just took two. Um anyway,
uh I you know it's Augusta Park to me strikes me as more of it's developing into an activity, a family activity part and then other things are just there and and Okay, that's my impression from Augusta Park. Was it ever discussed to have a playground equipment at Augusta? I don't think it was. Uh, I've never heard that. Okay. Um, I my understanding of Augusta is it's kind of more of a natural area. Um, okay. That's what I've heard. Side is basically doesn'tated.
Yes, ma'am. And then the pingpong table and the botchi ball just kind of developed or were added corn. They uh first it was the botchi ball court and I think that botchi ball court's a little over 10 years old now. Um and then Pat Rawling. Oh really? Oh wow. Wow. Wow. No balls. It had the had the botchi but no balls. No balls for the botchi ball. So you could just run up and down. Yeah. like get your answers.
Uh and then later on, maybe two, three years ago, uh I guess about three years ago, the ping pong table and the cornhole was added. Um yeah, the the the the parks department uh the last parks department did the Pat I know just Pat Rawlings was on. I don't know who else. Cody Abney. Um, apparently Ruth Ruth and Gilbert. Gilbert. Okay. So, it is it's been piece
older children to adults. Well, I've seen I don't disagree with that. Yeah. I see a families stare a lot. Okay. And um what are they doing? Well, there's one father who takes his kids down to play uh pingpong with them. And I see younger kids now going to play pingpong. Good. But that's cuz I drive a lot out that way better than I see actually see. Okay. And we were looking at we have an Augusta Lane uh gathering
for the residents of Augusta Lane. We were talking about having our next gathering there. Uh, so it could almost be a gathering place for families or small groups and then the native part of it I think could be made much more attractive and accessible, you know. Yeah. Yeah. Um, if I remember, you know, we were talking about the ex extending the trails, redirecting some some water flow. Um, of course it's going to become ADA compliant in some amount of time. Uh, when that's done, it's done.
Um, then we we we talked about also having the the material to build stuff just like loose logs and Yeah. Kid building supplies. Yeah. Yeah. I would I would say gear it more away from children since the creek side will be that and more toward family and small groups just when you want to have your you know you might want to take your family down on a pretty cool day once a year. It is very nice and shaded. Yes. Okay.
Yeah. and some musical things like that. Yes, I love that. That's rare. Okay, that's Yes. Yes. Especially under the tree. It seems like that that the really big beautiful tree. I don't even know what kind of tree it is with the huge canopy that has all the mulch. Blackjack oak. Nothing else. Yeah, it's a blackjack oak. It's a species of red oak. Beautiful tree. Yeah. So, yeah. I hammock
like under there. And it's so bare or just even benches, you know. Yes. Well, there's no way to I think along the trails benches would be great. Um talked about that. Yeah. Well, and you know, I mean it
well I overheard or rather when we were discussing the original design that they had in mind just sitting up like at the botchi board of court just as an observation overlooking all of the wild flowers. I think that was what they had in mind. But like after seeing Jonah's drawings and talking with you about being inviting and he had the little paths where you could actually walk and round through the flowers. To me, that is much more appealing than just being able to sit and Yeah. look because you can't get close enough to even see butterflies real well or bees or
so. Um yeah, I did. I think that I think it's just a that was just their idea which Okay. Yeah. And yeah, so it's um if we can build on what they did and make so they won't feel threatened or feel like we don't approve of what they did. But to have, you know, the wild flowers, I mean, that's it's it's so beautiful. I mean, just all any wildcaping that we can do. Uh but yeah, and to be able to, you know, kind of immerse a little bit more in it. so much nicer. Yeah,
absolutely. So hopefully Jonah is on the on the next uh council. Um is there any way to get things on their agenda? Like how do how do we get stuff on the agenda? on the C on the U council agenda like I mean this is really important to us I think and yet they didn't even discuss it so I was so disappointed
okay Okay. Yep. So they meet next Wednesday. Do is that every month? They meet twice every month. Sometimes it's one time. It's Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. This was included in it's online in today's you know where you pull up the agenda the packet the packet okay and you don't want to spend a lot of time with the
it's there but what I was talking about earlier is on page the second page and that was part maintenance plan that ties in with what Becky's concerns Does anyone know if the hose, the garden hose was purchased and taken over? That was something that was requested.
Um, I know Jeff spoke with Jim and Jim thought it was a flow, gravity flow issue, but according to Becky, it's the way that little hose was designed. It was a flat hose and there wasn't enough pressure to even open the hose up. So, they were hoping to someone would purchased a a bigger diameter hose. So, I don't know. Taffy, do you know if that was ordered or a garden hose and new garden hose for over at Augusta Park? down. If we want to get a garden hose, what would we do? Go to We just ask Jeff.
Ask Jeff. Have Ask Jeff to ask Jim. Ask Jeff. Just go directly to Jim. Can I just And Okay. Okay. But but that's that's already that step was taken and it was not it didn't end like we wanted it to end. So we need to light a fire that okay. Uhhuh. Yes. Uh at least uh I believe we decided on was it 75 ft or I can't remember now the length I would Yeah. If it's available. Yeah. Whatever.
Yeah. And it might be more than $40 because hoses do you kind of get expensive but probably no more. Yeah. Yeah. No, not that. They are expensive though. I mean they're 50 60 bucks, right? But that's to me that's the least we could provide. Are you going to ask Jim? Okay. Okay. Okay. That sounds great. Excellent. Okay. And it and as far as Becky's concerned about right now because after the rains I'll be glad to go over there and work on it. In fact, I was already going to volunteer to do that.
Well, she said she would be happy to help anybody if we can get over there. Okay. And I'm I'm available. I mean, do we want to make this just a who wants to help? An informal. Yeah, sure. I think we should in order to get it done. Uh it just needs to be an employee. Okay. And I'm volunteering and uh Becky will be available. Willing to help when he has time. He just needs direction. He just needs Yes. Exactly.
Good for him. So he is he a five day a week and he could do the dig game. Okay. Yeah. He could join Becky and me. No. Go ahead. He's a f He's Monday through Friday. He's a Monday through Friday person. Monday through Yeah. So if we do it on a weekend only in the mornings. He's in the morning. Only mornings. Okay. Oh, that's true. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, that's good information. Today it was. So I am Oh my gosh. See, I could bring my son with me during the week because I homeschool my son.
Um and then yeah, I see clients on the weekend. So it's actually it would be easier, I think, for me during the week with him. Yeah. Okay. Okay. And then if we can get Sean, we can also show him some things. Becky and I could I know the copper leaf is one you're really it's really gone crazy. That's what I call it. Is that copper canyon daisy? The copper leaf. It's a copper leaf. It's got a looks almost like a corn stalk. It's got this fuzzy top to it.
Would that be the KR blue stem? She was real concerned about the blue KR blue stem silver leaf night shade. That's a real thin one. And then the the night shade is well kind of silverish with a purple top when it's she she named u I guess I've got that in the for and the Mexican hat which you want to keep but they just need to be deadheaded so they won't spread she said they will take over um one do we want to um let's that blue stem. Isn't that just a grass? Yeah,
that is. But the there's a particular one that you don't want which is called KR. I don't know what does that I don't know. It's not Oh, it is. And I believe that has to be dug up with the shovel like um Okay. I think it'll be around with cockroaches if the world goes away. I am I can be avail a available on Monday. This Monday, what date is? Um, is it the 21st? That sounds good to me. Yes. Okay.
Uhhuh. Yeah. So, does that mean that's all y'all can use that for? No. Okay. No. No. Well, no. That's Chris Grumberts. That's Chris Grumberts. But we have to have $10,000 in our budget to match be able to allocate to that. Yeah. Like so our time, if my understanding of the grant is correct, our volunteer time counts. So, Oh, no. I'm sorry. It doesn't. It doesn't. No, it doesn't. We have to The city uh has to come up with $10,000 and they Jeff has talked about that being part of our budget only. because that's a good place to put it. Okay,
$10,000 has to be in cash. And if we want to do any inind donations like counting our time, that will be part of the grant application, but it won't really count. It will just show just show our good wealth and our commitment. That's probably all you're going to Well, then we should have asked for quite a bit more. Well, that the tree plant Well, you know, tree planting grant for 10,000 that Chris is doing, that's not our 10,000, but that's not part of the budget. That is not part of our It's only sitting there, but it's it's committed to uh matching funds with Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Yeah, they're requiring it. And so the other 10,000 that's sitting in our draft budget is what we've been looking at today. Okay. Yeah, I did not understand that as clearly. Well, also Jeff told us we should ask for 10. U and I thought it was it was just as a portion of that grant. No. Um because inind funds are going to be accepted. They will not. I clarified that.
Well, Jeff and I were just having that conversation because I've been developing a lot of grants and And I just, you know, mentioned that even they're requiring cash $10 $10. That'd be nice. That'd be nice. Who is this? Texas Parks and Wild. Okay. To this. That's the matching. And then we have 10. This board has $10,000 for our budget. The tree planting is separate. So the city's going to come up with a $10,000 match. Interesting. budget appropriate place for it to be.
Okay. Well, I think there needs to be some clarification on on this and and I I 110% believe you uh but even at this point I I'm well drawing a uh notes there so you can I Yeah, I saw that. And see if uh may not need to ask for that much more money because the paintings and stuff, right? Okay.
Yeah. Well, let's No, I I agree. Let's be sure. I just know that uh trees are expensive. I bet we could do both of them. You know, Chris is in Oh, we could fly through 20 grand in trees. I mean, very fast. [Laughter] Truth. Oh my gosh. It gets costly very quickly. Um but we we will work with Chris as I understand it to recommend to him what which trees and where.
Absolutely. I have locations all over the city. I want to plant some trees. We've removed some trees recently uh in byways and parks that need to be replaced. So uh we could space is not an issue. Yeah. Yeah. Let's burn through some cash. Always. Always. Always. Oh, all that has to be on city. Yes, sir. Yeah. Uh so, back to It was a little gray area there, though. So, is that the 2500 that we were asking for? Um
um for these trees that you're talking about. It was okay. Yeah. Yeah. I was trying to spend what we had because I thought we asked for 10,000 just to have enough to match. Um we have 20,000 to spend on trees. Well, no. Well, 10 we have 10. We have 10. The grant proposal 10 is Yeah, it's obligated or it will be obligated to be funds to Texas Parks and Wildlife and then the rest of it is our $10,000 budget to do what we wish.
Yep. So, we may need to take that 2500 off or we could keep it on there. I mean, we're going to blow through 10,000. Why not 12,500? It's not No, it's so So if we how will we know once we get this when this grant is if the grant is approved I think question I don't think we could pull man so I potentially we we could pull from that for the beautifification I think the the
we could great idea Um, so I think the deadline to have your grant application in is November 1st and then the decisions are made I think in February. Yep. Unfortunately, we wouldn't be able to do anything this 2025 season. Yeah. Okay. in the first half of well the first two months of 2026.
Okay. I mean we could plant we could plant in February. I'm not opposed to that because we have March, April, and then I wouldn't do anything after April. This year's been uh exceptionally good though. Very Wait, does anyone know where we're at? Don't even know where we're at, but it's just so much and it's so humid. So, yeah, it's just a really different summer for us. Well, someone told me the average rainfall was around 30 in a year and we're like at like 15 or 16. So, they think we'll reach average possibly.
Cool. For the instead of instead of six, we're Oh my god. Sorry, but what when did you say the decision the grant app's due 11? Uh two 21 I think February 21 if I remember correctly. I've read over some of these grants and uh I've slept since then. So,
but Chris is going to submit the grant. We're not responsible for Yes, ma'am. Yeah, he's to identify which trees and where. Yep. What and where? What? What and where? And the number, right? We don't even know how many that we have as many that will fit in that budget. I'm sure that'll be between, you know, brings come up with.
Yeah. We could spend the whole budget on one tree. [Laughter] That's a lot. That's a big gamble in one tree. I say go small and diversify and do a lot.
That would be that would love that. That would be black worthy. I mean, so it's got to be I feel like it's got to be plaque worthy to have the plaque. Um, and then side note, so we could save quite a bit of money uh through the wholesale accounts that I have because retail prices of trees are extreme 150% above uh wholesale [Music] trees.
Yeah. Uh, so yeah, I mean, if we could source the tree or trees, then we could have our city arborist plant those trees and then we could get more bang for our bucks. And then uh yeah, we need to be thinking about what trees we want planted. Is that correct? That was going through some species. Yeah. But I guess Chris would be coming to us and saying, "Okay, experts saying what he what where and what." Uhhuh. What?
So, so I'm sorry. going back to Monday. We're going to If that works for you and if it works for Becky, will you call Becky? I can this Monday. What time? Yes. What time? You said that's the 21st work morning. Um I don't know. It's a good time. I don't know. I can get out. Let's do earlier. I can get out there at 8.
Okay. Well, Becky's not a member. So, I think just going to be two of us unless Bill wants to join. Um, Judy is not able to at this time. That's up to you whether or not we're going to do a birthday at Augusta. on July 21. This Monday, July 21st,
um starting at 8 a.m. I don't know. We're going to maybe 10. Yeah, 8 to 10. It is miserable at 10. Yeah, it's already super hot at that time. if you and Becky might have a couple of friends that I'll ask her because she's given me the names of several people that might would participate. Okay. We could also ask Claire and well, of course, Becky. Uh, but Claire's want been wanting to be involved in this for a while, right? Or
she still does or she's totally backed off because I think Judy, you said that she was four children and she's getting her masters or something like that. So, she's super busy. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Okay. I mean, between I know it's right around the corner, but we could still put a a post out on the city next door and Facebook. Could we do that? Awesome. Does that sound good? Yeah. Yeah, we'll do that. And
so we would need to post it if uh Bill, if you're going to be joining us, that means a quorum. So we would also have to post it. Okay. All right. Okay. Perfect. Good idea. I like it. Thank you. And should people bring their own clippers or shovels or what? What would you think would be good? Does the city have it any supplies or no? No. That's right. We could purchase it. It's a good idea. Yeah. Okay.
Okay. Okay. Bring your own garden tools for this one that just make it simple. Yes. Bring your own garden tools and water. And for me, coffee and hat and mosquito spray. And mosquito spray. Right. Let's see. Number seven. I guess our possible action's going to be a work day. Act. Well, you know what? work day. Yeah, that's our possible action.
Volunteer day.
Yes, I second that. Whoops. Show hands.
Eyes have it. Thank y'all. All right. Number eight. discuss and take possible action on scheduling a meeting of the trees and parks board at a tri at the triangle to discuss possible beautifification plan for the water tank as part of an overall review of parks progress and need no action to be taken which is funny because it says yeah but that we do need that's what I was saying is that says take possible action. What action need to be taken?
Um, so I I guess that was one of my questions is who's on first about get getting the uh beautifification the arts group together with us? Jeff. Yeah,
Jeff our liaison. Uh so we can talk to we we can relay today's message to him and then start uh see see if whatever day we decide to meet is good for them and we can do a little back and forth. Um, also if there's somebody that wants to be a point of contact, I think this could all be done a little bit more efficiently through an email.
Point of contact.
Okay. I would like to make a motion to well, I was gonna say point uh pick a point of point of contact to um talk to Jeff and relay potential potential meeting dates with the arts arts department. Um gosh, it's not it's not department. What is it? Community art.
Community outdoor art committee. I love that. Right. It's like a public art. Okay. I'm sorry. What was the motion? It was not clear. Okay. to pick a point of contact and talk with Joe to pick to relay potential date to the
Does that need to be summed up or rewarded? Okay. So, I got as far as talk with Jeb to relay potential dates to meet with to meet at triangle to discuss the water tank beautifification. tank.
Absolutely. [Laughter] We don't have we don't have to use that motion either. I mean like we can we can discard that. Um yeah, let's let's do that. Okay. Uh let's see.
So we need a point of contact from our group. Is what we're saying? What's the motion? Um, for us actually of us originally to talk with Jeff to relay potential dates to the outdoor art committee. I would honestly change it to we don't even need a point of contact. We just need to decide a date that works for us. Okay. Um, and ask Jeff to ask outdoor arts committee if that works for them. Yes. Okay.
Not even a point of contact. Okay. Yeah. Just send out an email. [Music] Okay. So, let me just Yeah. Right. Write this down. motion or no a motion. Do we need to pick a date first and then we make a motion? What do you think? We can pick a date first. Yeah,
that's streamline stuff. Then you can ask Jeff to contact the arts committee committee and see if that date works. Okay, so let's do that. Okay, it's harder to guess. This just gets complicated. All these motions. I know. I know. Okay. Okay. So, are you you're looking at calendar? Yeah. Uh, what do y'all think? Like a Friday afternoon happy hour kind of situation.
That doesn't sound bad to me. Not too bad. We can have we can be responsible for refreshments. Um, okay. the Friday afternoon to do you need afternoons? Um, yeah, afternoons typically work better for me. Morning. Uh, oh, wait. If if I know But it's just going to be one of us, right? Uh, I thought we were all Well, then we'd have to do a quorum. Yeah, it would just be one of us, correct? or two point of contact. It'll be
I'll I'll volunteer to be something. Okay. So, be a a partner to me or a point of contact or whatever you need. Okay. Okay. You know, so but I'm not sure what you are great at taking notes. I mean um anything discussed is going to be is going to be uh so she meet with crius or one person from the art. I would be a partner with whoever. I mean, two of us. Two. Oh, two. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Yeah.
I think it would be best if you me you'd lead for the board, then I would be your partner there to do whatever, take notes. Okay. Contribute my thoughts. It also wouldn't it wouldn't be an issue to have a quorum. We would just have to post it one day before our actual meeting. So, if we all wanted to Oh, really? Jeff said one day. Uh, well, so it would be a meeting for everybody, but that's just we would all be able to get involved and uh it wouldn't just be one person taking notes and bringing it back to our next meeting and saying, "Okay, this is what they want. This is what
I I like." And we don't we don't have any ideas of what we want yet. or maybe individually we do, but um they haven't been discussed yet. So, I think this would be a good opportunity to have the whole board um and then so we'll throw we can throw a date out there and see if it see if they bite. Did you say f there's 18th and 25th or Fridays? I was thinking the 25th. That gives us a week is out for you. Okay. Three things.
We couldn't do it the 18th cuz today's our we we would have had to have it up this morning. Um our next is August 1st and that works good for me. All All day is is is good for August 1. What's the day? Uh Friday. It's a Friday. Friday. If Fridays don't work for you, we can do Okay. What about thinking about evenings? Friday afternoon, Friday evenings work. Cool.
Would we want to do we need to plan this like prior to the next the council meeting so we'll have information for them or when would be they'll be meeting uh the 23rd, right? and then won't meet again until August 4th or whenever the 6th. August 6th. So, if that helps on the date, but we need to have time to get some information. Whatever. Oh, that Friday the Friday that we're scheduled to.
That's the deadline to have their agenda in. which we don't have to we don't have to have a decision made. We're just we're just discussing it. I mean, even if we had a decision made, the actions wouldn't be taken for probably a few months.
Yeah. Yeah. Opening discussion. Okay. So, but do we have to drag everything out month after month? I mean, I'm I'm I'm want I want to I'm ready to get Augusta Park cleaned up. I'm ready to get I mean, to the government. Is this Is this government? Is this the way it really works all the time? Okay. I think we could move on getting some needs met through the city already with the maintenance. I think we can do that.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that's a conversation with Jeff to Jim or straight to Jim and uh we don't have to wait for that split from this home. Yeah, that's a different thing. Yeah, because they're all so Oh, yeah. We could make a decision and they That's right. So, we're going with the 25th or August? Uh, the first that way we can all be there. Um, it'd be a potential quorum.
Okay. So, I I wrote a motion motion to meet on Friday, August 1st with outdoor art committee to discuss beautifification of water tank. Yeah. A second time. What time was it? What time? Oh. Oh, we don't have a time. Sorry. Yeah. Um, six seconds. Six to eight. Do we need that many hours? Oh. Oh, yeah. Okay. We could do six. We could start at six and then uh we could end with question mark question mark question. Go home when you want to. Right. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
Oh, yeah. Yeah. And that may happen. Okay. We'd really We'd really crack open the conversation of what to do there. Okay. So, give us your real opinion. Uh 6:00 a.m. 6. It'll be nice and cool. Uh 6 PM. Yes, ma'am. 6 p.m. August 1st. That was very well said. And we have a second.
I'm surprised they're still here. Like, don't they not stop it? Huh? I'm so sorry. I get it. I get it. Yes. Okay, I hear you. Okay,
I can do that. Perfect. Thank you. Okay y'all, um if is there any more discussion about item number eight talking about the water tank? Did you think we have Did you second my motion? I second. Okay. So, what's that bill? Who ultimately will make the last decision about that on the water? the the council, not us. And then then they
Well, I would just recommend that all of y'all listen to the council's discussion of this. It's about the last two minutes of the meeting, but I mean, it's really interesting. I mean, I Chris especially now being an art major, he was one of the ones recommending we leave it as it is. So, yeah, I I thought he would be wanting it painted. But anyway, just listen to it because everybody had a great great ideas and they had testimonials from the community to back up their ideas. So, it's it's interesting toward the end of the meeting.
Yeah. Yeah. the the meeting I would say seemed like it was well just toward the end and they also have a great discussion on the new program for water rain containment tanks and possible size tanks and so I did listen to that. Yeah, but it is going to be large tanks, you know, probably at least 1,000 gallons or more before you could even apply for any type of incentive or whatever. So, but but it's in the planning stages, right? That's what
I was hoping it'd be more some smaller tanks, but yeah, I'm working with I'm working with Right. I mean, yeah, that's what I because I mean, very few people in this community are going to spend $5,000 for water for I mean, so to me, if we all did a little, that would help rather than one or two doing a lot. But anyway, I think just needs a lot of discussion and planning. Yeah,
that's something I'm I'm working with Jeff on the Rain Barrel project, not as part of the board, but I was working with him with him on that and we're meeting with Joe. Well, the the Methodist church has five or seven left. They're 50 gallons and they're really nice. I just bought one of those eight I think is $87 on that. Yeah. And they're available today. I mean, pick up me. Just real quick, I'm going to adjourn this meeting at 6:38. I'm sorry.
