Town Council - Regular Meeting

Make a motion we approve the agenda as presented. All right. So moved. All right. Make a motion we um continue the uh the hearing for the ordinance to extend corporate limited limits Gordon Road parcel ID 05105021 05 021E as in echo till August 11 2025.

Uh I also attended our staff retreat that uh was held and enjoyed myself. We had a very good meeting for the staff and I was You can't hear me? I need to get closer because Okay, we enjoyed the staff better. We enjoyed the staff meeting and the retreat that we had. Okay, that's all I have. Lanna,

um the only report that I have other than what we'll discuss later on in the meeting is that um we did have a staff retreat on this past Friday, the 18th, and we had 16 present and it was really good. Our focus was on community engagement and we have a lot of good plans coming up over the next year for some different um ways to put that out there and um use our new logo campaign, make your mark. So, look for that on social media and we will we have got some other outlets that we'll be sending out to people who are not typically on social media. So, looking forward to that. Okay. The other item is um in our packet we have some bids for repaving of streets for the public work. Patrick Uh if anyone has any questions for Patrick on the the three the three streets are in one subdivision and this will be paid for with power bill money. Does anybody have any questions on these bids that we have received?

What subdivision is it Patrick? It's um it's off Jones Road. It's Sharon Drive. Renee Sharon Road. Renee Drive and Low Court if uh Right. Are they already paved? No, they're they're paved now, but they're um they're in really bad shape. How many streets do we have in town that is not paved?

One. So, is that is that street on our agenda before repaving to get all the streets paved or I mean, yeah. Which street are you thinking? No. Walter Circle also. So that's two. Walter Circle. Am I? Water circle was not ours. But Powell Drive is. Yes. And it's probably not because it wasn't paid at the time that we took those streets in. It may not be up to standard for some reason.

But they're in town. Yeah, they're in town, but that one was not it's not on the power bill, so it's not it's not by town. Okay, Patrick, I Excuse me. I just have a quick question. How how does it work in so far as repaving goes? Is it is it a plethora of um complaints from the neighbors and residents or is it you driving through going, "Oh, this is pitiful. We need to do it." Or there's been some complaints. Uh there's been some potho bad potholes that we fixed in there. If you ride through it, it's alligator dope really bad. So, it's it's lived it life expectancy. You know, uh most asphalt's 20 to 25 years and it's it's lived it life and it's really thin, too.

When when they were paved 20 25 years ago, was it anything close to our current standards? No. Okay. Patrick, the the cover sack down there on Renee Drive has is that going to be fixed? Yes, ma'am. Because that's that had some problems in it before. before I know. Yes. So, okay. The the the tree clearing along the the drive the street going into uh into town hall. Yes, sir. Is that a state m I mean is that a town maintained street now? It's a private road.

So, what what do we do if there's a pothole in that? If it's not a state if it's not a town street, well, it's technically not even a road. It's not named. So, it's a drive. It's a paved driveway that is that belongs to the town because we own that property. So, it would be up to us to fix that because it's our property. It's not even designated as a road. So, can we name that street?

It's not It's not designated as a road. That could be part of what you talk about with your master campus plan that you're getting ready to talk about at your um your work session next week. if you want that to be an actual street, there may be some work that needs to be done to it, but we could do that. And um the the tree trimming that is about to happen uh along that that I'm going to call it a street because it's a street to me. Um did we approve that in part of that uh that construction, town hall construction and all that the fun? Not part of that construction, but it was put into the budget for this fiscal year.

Okay. All right. I just think we need we need to do make making the street. Well, that that's something we can do. I mean, what once we get the campus thing? Do do you need a a motion to approve? Yes, we need a motion to approve. Uh Patrick is recommending um Williams Paving Company because it is the lowest bid, right? Um so we need a motion to accept that.

I make a motion that we uh we accept the uh the bid for paving Sharon Road, Renee Drive and Low Court to Williams Paving as it is presented on their invoice. I don't see a number on the invoice, but nevertheless, their current invoice dated 15th July 2025. It's
