Planning & Zoning Commission - Regular Meeting

Mr. Chair, in about one minute we'll be set to go. Okay. Wait till the official time since it's a public meeting, I guess. Yes, we did post it on the website. So, thank you. No problem, Miss Deppler. Thanks for coming, too. Did this help making us all feel jealous? I know. That's just mean. A I wasn't trying to be mean. Oh, no. One of my biking friends moved out to that area um right after school got out

and she's been posting all kinds of pictures on her Instagram and it's just like uh I need to get out there. We went horseback riding. It was it was great. It was we just had a blast. You know, it was seven days of playing hard. I have some friends that live near Estus Park and they always post pictures of the sunsets and their hikes and I'm just It makes Yeah. Makes me wish I was in a little cooler weather. Yeah. Yeah. Well, and you know that big meteor shower supposed to be going on when we were there, but Oh, I I heard about that and then I always forget to go out and look.

I was in bed. It was too much for me. All right, it's 5:30, so I'll go ahead and call this meeting to order of the nominating committee for 2025 2026 officers. Uh, roll call of commission members, please. Yes, Mr. Chair. Commissioner Deppler here. Commissioner Hfrey here. Chair Batty here, sir. We have all three.

All right. Thank you. Um, does the Department of Planning have any opening comments? Just again to all three of you, thanks for squeezing this particular meeting in. I know it's a it's just another thing to do. So, thank you very much. No problem. Happy to help. Um, so I guess uh first line of business um uh Oh jeez, now I'm uh uh Scott Commissioner Jackson mentioned keeping everything the same and I had the comment of I'd be happy to continue serving as chair but I don't know if I have another term or not yet. And Mr. Chair, uh, Mayor Garitano hasn't mentioned anything to me regarding the the reappoint or anything in that regard. Um, and we don't have a meeting until August uh 11th uh of the city council. So I think at this stage the best I can tell you is if you're interested and if the other members of the nominating committee are, we should proceed forward with the nominations as people as you three would think would be best for the upcoming year. Thank you.

Okay, Commissioner Hry, it looks like you're about to say something. Nope. Oh, okay. That there's always a first time, right? Yeah. Can you remind me who the current secretary is? Let's see. Oh, sorry. Yeah, Craig. Um, ah, thanks. I I just can remember that. I remembered your two positions, but I wasn't quite sure who the secretary was.

Well, so I I would say uh Cindy, are you able to come into the building more or still? No. Monday nights are kind of hard for me. I'm trying to rearrange, but like, you know, today I'm calling in from my office at work. So, um,

well, the the reason I ask is because, uh, Craig is supposed to sign the, um, the minutes and I have been signing them because he hasn't been in. So, the only thing I would say the only thing I would change would be if he um if it's hard for him to come in um would be to maybe have someone else that's in office be the secretary just so they could sign off on the minutes. Otherwise, I don't mind doing it as I was as I have been.

Has anybody heard from him whether he's still interested or not? the steppler. I have not. And Travis, he's on vacation. He was he was off since last Wednesday. Won't be back, I think, till Thursday or Friday of this week. So, he didn't share anything with me. Um certainly the majority of the meetings have been via Zoom. Well, uh

is anybody else's there all the time? Uh Jim Rubis is there in in office all the time. So you know do I need to make a nomination? That would be a great start. Yeah. Okay. So I nominate um I'll make the nomination that we keep it as it is except maybe put uh Mr. Jackson as a secretary. or Mr. Rubis.

I um my my only comment is I mean uh Commissioner Jackson has been great, but he doesn't seem to he he hasn't seemed to want to go ahead and make this jump to quote leadership. So, all right, then I'll nominate Mr. Rubis, Chair Rubis or Mr. Rubis to uh be the secretary cuz he's usually there for every meeting, right? Is that okay? I'll second that. Thanks. So, Miss Hellfrey, could you state it? So, Chair Bey, then me, then Mr. Rubis.

All right. So the motion is I miss Hellfrey seconded by Miss Deppler to advance to the full planning and zoning commission the following officers for 2025 2026. Chair Bey, Vice Chair Helffrey, and Secretary Rubis. All right. And I will say just a word of warning. Um, this fall I thought I my term was going to be up and so I moved my class from Wednesday nights to Monday night. So, um, September will be fine because Labor Day it's on a Tuesday and so that won't conflict. But October, November I may have to miss. So, I'm I'm And then if assuming I do get renominated, I'll move my schedule back for the spring semester.

Sounds good. Yeah, I guess I was speaking for Vice Chair Helfrey there. Sorry. No, works for me. Okay. So, yeah, for Yeah. October, November, just consider I just figured I just got that. Yeah, it's all right. I don't care. Oh, all right. Um I mean, and I Yeah, I can always miss one class without too much of a hassle um each semester. Well, it's only two, so we'll be fine.

Okay. Yeah. Um, yeah, in December that's getting into finals. So, I if I'm just tell them work from home because I I don't do final exams, it's final projects. So, yeah. But, okay.
