Now agenda items.

0:34 – 0:56Speaker 3

Okay, let me see if we've got public comments. Okay, I have three people signed up for public comments. All, I'm assuming the residents are. We talked to Crap Austin Trucks. I don't have a, I have a post office box. What is the physical address?

0:56Speaker 2

I have the property of Tom from Marshall Street across from the old police station.

1:05Speaker 3

you can go ahead and come to the podium and what is it three minutes got three minutes

1:15 – 1:47Speaker 2

As one of the owners of the lot across Marshall from the property located at the city end to the corner of Marshall and Pisa, which was definitely the last building, I am vehemently opposed to the rezoning of this property for the rest of my life. The rumor is the business interested in that location is Lake Martin Pizza Company, which has outside seating and outside musical venues. That is a residential neighborhood. I love that name. One resident literally lives right next door to my lot.

1:47Speaker 1

My mother is back in Austin.

1:49 – 3:30Speaker 2

We're all in wealth and I own a vacant lot right across the street. Of course, my mother still owns a lot in our house on Old Bridge Street. My fiance, Edgar Johnson, owns the great house in the corner of Marshall Casino. None of us wants a restaurant in our residential neighborhood. We're about to drive down our property values. He wants to live across the street from an amazing, easy place with people coming and going at all hours. Two, it will cause a nuisance of noise, people clogging up the streets when parking, people parking illegally on our property, which they do for everything, for rain, et cetera. Based on what has happened in the past, the City Police Department and the Mayor will do nothing to stop people from leaving this pizza place and parking on our property and blocking the streets. Third, it will be open, light, and quiet neighborhoods. Forte Pizza Pasta Place has literally just opened just across the river in the Old Plain Theater in the area designated as an entertainment district of the city. And that is the perfect place for a restaurant. That pizza pasta place posted on Facebook that it was encouraged to not focus as much on pizza by the city because other pizza places were perfect. Did the city threaten your comments as a result? Well, I'm more than happy to go to a pizza place in downtown but not in the residential area. additionally the v4 zoning specifically does not allow any more outdoor entertainment lake martin music hub is known for its outdoor music on the cabinet putting the city on notice that we plan to see if it's resounding first thank you the next person i have is edwin johnson uh east tuskegee street

3:35 – 4:13Speaker 4

I thought we were gonna be back on the agenda, so I came in prepared to talk to you again about the rezoning, putting the things in place, the business and the residential neighborhood and our neighborhood. I'm opposed to it, so I've got a couple questions for the city council. I mean, just something, yes or no answer. Does the city own the property where the, we talked to the city police, the building used to be for our before that. Is it currently owned? Yes or no? Anybody else want to say?

4:15Speaker 4

Do you have an active vertical agreement with anyone to purchase that property for any reason, residential or at this time?

4:28 – 5:19Speaker 4

Do not. No, the city of Woonotka and the city council to me, it's an additional notice that when that property is available for sale, a notice for sale, I want to be on the bid list to purchase that property. And you laugh because you don't think I'll do it. I know you will. I just made my point. I've been actively looking at houses on Lake Martin and Lake Jordan to buy. As a matter of fact, Sunday I looked at a house that Tiffany's husband is the realtor for. It's the cheapest property I've looked at. get on the lake, it's priced at $895,000. Now, if I can afford to buy a house on the lake, a lakefront house, I'm sure I can buy that little piece of property on the farm. So, man, if you want to, I don't want to be on the bid list to purchase it. I'll keep it a residential neighborhood if I have to. Is that good enough? Good enough. All right.

5:19Speaker 3

Thank you. Thank you, Edwin. Okay, and the next person to sign up is John Fulton. That's on Tuskeena Street.

5:29 – 6:15Speaker 1

Yes, good afternoon. Thank you for allowing us to speak. As all of you know, Westwood County is a big historical district. I'm sure all of you have heard of Tuskeena Street Historical District, which takes in Tallahassee and Tuskeena Street is recognized by all of them. It's adopted many years ago. It's also a residential neighborhood, but it is not a commercial neighborhood. I understand from your last meeting that there was not two items on the agenda. regarding some rezoning and other items regarding that property that's in question over there that was the police station. I understand that was not that meeting, but I understand that was supposed to be continued till today for further discussion. I don't see it on the agenda. So I'm going to ask you a question. Is that now a dead issue? Is this a dead issue that we can stop talking about?

6:16 – 6:36Speaker 3

I couldn't tell you where it is. The councilman suggested that we postpone this taking any action on this rezoning until he could further investigate and gain more knowledge. So that's what we are adhering to.

6:37 – 7:13Speaker 1

Well, as you know, this board is Redundant Memorial Park. Some people call it different things, but it's Redundant Memorial Park over there. Some people call it Valley Grove. Some people call it Fane Center. I'm Fane Park. I see the name Fane Park on the city documents. Because we know it's Redundant Memorial Park. And that's where this old police station lot joins in. And serves Wheaton Country very well. A lot of people use that for parking, different groups that meet down there and use that a lot. But for you to sell it, you've got a surplus. How many of you think that property is surplus, that the city does not need it? Think about the parade lines. Think about the other things that are going down there. Think about the family.
