City Council - Special Meeting

Go ahead and call this um special meeting to order. Um the time is now 5:03 p.m. Um could we get roll call, please? Vice Mayor Matulic present. Council members Benser present. Gordon present. Matias here. Paul Maris present. I will note for the record the mayor and council member Leedu are currently absent.

Thank you for that, Don. Um go ahead and move on to close session. Um Manny, if you could start the two-minute clock. Um for anyone wishing to um make a comment uh for this close session item um only on the items that are um listed here on the agenda, please raise your hand or go to the kiosk in the back. Um and we will give you two minutes to do that. Um at the end of the two minutes uh we'll close the public hearing and uh anyone who signs up after that will not be allowed to speak. So um thank you for starting the clock. Manny, do we have any public comment? anyone in person to that signed up through the mayor. Uh currently do not have any members of the public signed up to speak on this current item.

Thank you. Uh the city council will meet this evening in close session with regard to the following items. Conference with legal counsel existing litigation pursuant to government code section 54956.9D1. There are three cases listed. Um Takai DBA cigarette city versus the city of Valo case number as listed on the agenda. Hotakai DBA cigarettes for less and check cashing versus the city of Valo case number as listed on the agenda. and Kimberly Matkins versus the city of Valleo case number as listed on the agenda. Item D, conference with labor negotiators pursuant to government code section 54957.6, the agency designated representatives, Gileian Hayne, acting city manager, Nolongo Connelly, assistant city manager, and Stephanie Suentthus, human resources director. The employee organizations are Valo Police Officers Association, International Association of Firefighters Local 1186, Confidential Administrative, Managerial and Professional Association, and Unrepresented Employees. And finally, item E, public employee employment pursuant to Government Code section 54957B. The title is interim city manager. Thank you for that. Go ahead and close the um clo um public comment session and um bring us back to close session um to our close session. Um just for sorry just for uh the edification of the public if I may, Mr. Vice Mayor. Yes. Um we will report out of close session in this room actually. Um and we will do so subsequent to this close session which could be and will likely be after the planning commission meeting starts. We will ask the planning commission to take a break for that report out period of time and then we will um report out during that break.
