3:14 – 3:390

Sorry. Ready, salute. I pledge allegiance to the flag of The United States Of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. These chairs. Okay.

3:46 – 4:200

Next on our agenda is public comment. Members of the public wishing to comment on any item not appearing on the agenda may address the Planning Commission at this time. State law prevents the commission from acting on any matter not on the agenda. However, your comments may be referred to staff for follow-up. This is also the time for the public to comment on items listed under the consent calendar or to request an item from the consent calendar be pulled for discussion purposes.

4:20 – 4:580

Comments related to public hearing and general business items will be heard at the time of those items are discussed. Please begin your comments by stating your name and providing your city of residence. Since there's no one in the in the, audience, I'm going to close public comments. And now we are at commissioner's reports and items of interest. Commissioners?

So I went I was invited to the invitation only Chick fil A ribbon cutting on is it Monday the fourth we went out there? And so that was exciting to see all of the community support. And then they had the official opening on Thursday, which we were talking about, and our community is very excited about it. But what I wanted to bring to your attention is this Thursday is a business after hour social mixer for the chamber of commerce, and it's gonna be at the Tilray Veterans Memorial Building from 05:30 to seven. And, the reason I bring it up is because they're gonna be giving tours that night, and there are there are hidden rooms and secret rooms that nobody knew about, which I didn't even know about them.

5:50 – 6:281

And they're gonna take you down into the basement. I didn't know there was a basement. And then upstairs into a lot of other they said it's, like, four stories as I think that's what they said told us today at our meeting. And so if you're free Thursday night, anybody can go, and there'll be food and drink. And they they did tell us the bar would be open, but they're gonna give tours of the building in areas that nobody's ever gotten to go to or didn't know existed. So I think it's gonna be pretty cool. So if you're available, go to the Memorial Building Thursday night at 05:30. And that's all I got.

10:47 – 10:584

Yes. Good evening, chair, vice chair, planning commissioners. So just a few updates. Apologies for the short agenda. We usually try to avoid just having one item like this.

10:58 – 11:374

One sometimes it's inevitable. We had already pushed this one off for a little bit. So next meeting, as a upcoming notice on the twenty sixth, we do have a few items already on for that agenda. And some exciting news, the city's housing element, which I know you all are familiar with from our workshops and presentations, and the work that staff has has been undergoing for the last few years was finally approved by our city council. And I'm working to submit final documents to the state housing community development department, but that's a big step.

11:37 – 12:144

It's a big milestone for the city as we continue to grow here over the next eight years. And over the coming year, we'll be looking at a new general plan update as well. So that'll be something I will keep the commission updated on, and you'll play a a pretty pivotal role in that as well, of course. That's all I have. And then finally, just wanted to formally introduce Derek Okubu or do I pronounce your last name okay? That's our new planner with the city's planning division. I'll allow him if he wants to say a few introductory words, but we're very excited to have him join us. He comes from one of my favorite places in the world, which is Hawaii.

12:150

Oh, nice.

12:20 – 12:343

Oh, hello. Yeah. Nice to meet you guys. Yeah. So I just came here from Hawaii a couple months ago. Yeah. Born and raised actually in California, but living in Hawaii past fifteen years. But, yeah, finally decided to come back home, back to California.

12:341

Welcome.

12:353

Nice meeting you guys.

12:360

Welcome aboard. We're excited to have you.

12:383

Thank you.

12:400

Okay. Is there anything else to come before the commission this evening? Can I just ask one question? I forgot to ask it

12:48 – 13:161

earlier. I've always wanted to say this. A constituent approached me. But, anyway, it's a girl that works where I get my hair done. But, anyway, she lives out off of Seminole, and she's been asking me quite a lot. When they bought in that subdivision years ago, they were promised a school to be built. I drove out there because I I actually drove through it. I saw the park. She said the park got done. Is there still plans for that?

13:16 – 13:451

Because she literally asked me every every Wednesday when I go for the last three months, and I haven't finally drove out. I thought she's complaining about traffic. I forgot what she'd actually asked me. And I thought, well, the traffic's not bad out here and coming out on Morrison. So then I reasked her, and I said, and I saw the park. But she said they bought there, her and her husband, because they've been told. So how can I answer her when I see her tomorrow? Or do you have an answer?

13:46 – 14:144

I have an answer. I think the best answer would probably be provided by the school district, but we do meet with the school district regularly. And I was actually just having this conversation before this meeting with the homebuilder out there about the school site. So we actually the city has a, I think, at least two or three school site locations on that East Side of town because based on development patterns and projections, the school district figure, we're gonna get all these houses. We're gonna have a lot of enrollment.

14:14 – 14:544

We're gonna need new schools. The houses have been built. Everyone's wondering where the kids are. And so the schools just have not, at least from our meetings with them, have seen the enrollment on that side of town where they are needing to build a new school. Yet on the West Side, where the school district does not own land, I think those schools are pretty impacted because we we have new housing built on that side of town as well Okay. But not not kind of a excess school sites. But the plan you know? So we usually meet with the school district once or twice a year. We share kind of our development patterns and growth projections we're seeing. They share some of the trends they're seeing on their end.

14:564

That is a site still owned by the school. I think their intent is to build a school there eventually. It's just they have not seen the enrollment on that side of town they were expecting when they put when they bought the land.

15:061

But that's a great answer because they they I know the schools chart that. So okay. I will let her know. Thank you, Mario.

15:163

That's all.

15:170

Okay. Anyone else? K. The meeting is adjourned.
