City Council - Special Meeting

Good evening. I'd like to call to order the special meeting for the City Council of Temple City to order for September 15th, 2026. Can we get a roll call, please?

Thank you, Mr. Mayor. One item is a potential initiation of litigation under section 54956.94 of the Brown Act. The other is discussion of existing litigation under 54956.9a regarding the matter Church of the Nazarene versus City with the Superior Court case caption in full on the agenda. Thank you very much.

So city council has returned from closed session. So at this time, I'd like to ask our city attorney to report out of closed session.

Thank you, Mr. Mayor. The City Council was briefed and gave direction on two items. Item A, potential initiation of litigation. A briefing was held. Discussion was held. The discussion did not result in any action reportable under the Brown Act. Item B, the existing litigation matter. Again, counsel was briefed. A discussion was held. The council gave direction to city staff and the city attorney's office to settle the matter on certain defined terms. If those terms are met, then a settlement can be signed off by the city manager and by the city attorney's office, be approved by the court, and then the settlement agreement would be available at the city clerk's office. If the terms are not met, then the matter would come back for future city council consideration. Thank you very much, sir.
