Town Council - Regular Meeting

I welcome you all to the meeting of the Municipal Council of September 9th. This will be our public forum, reserved only for the agenda of the day. I declare this open meeting. John Corbett, 1313 Canal Drive, Sunset Beach. Thank you for organizing this meeting and I am happy to see the new city administrator here. I would first like to make a comment on Majestic Oak. I am very happy to see that the city is moving forward with Majestic Oak. Even if it took time, I would like to remind you that the city has saved a lot of money by using it for two years for the storage of draggages. This also allowed the residents to make nice savings. I think that the reduced scale is in line with the initial plan, which is a good thing. I would simply like to remind you to think carefully about sanitary facilities, mobile toilets or other... Think about a policy to make the parking lot respected. Many people will want to smoke to go to the beach. And remember that there are no boats or motorized vehicles, at least according to the original plans that will be present in this park. I think the landscaping plan is good. It's a good start. We can always progress afterwards.

And don't forget that you can always add other equipment in the future, according to the needs and the demand.

The Majestic Park. I think it's an excellent idea. I think this council is doing very good work to move forward. A concern for us is that we are right next door and the plantation plan provides for a tree that releases bees and we don't want them to end up in our pool. So we would really like them to be placed in retreat compared to the property limit. Smaller trees would probably be good. It wouldn't bother the view of the owners who live right there along the park. Toilets, a concern would be inesthetic toilets visible from our houses. So we have to take that into consideration. I think the base plan that was planned originally was a good idea. We don't need to install a whole electrical system and plumbing in there. It must be simple and very profitable. So if it's about portable toilets, they must be well hidden from the owners' eyes. But beyond that, I really support the Majestic Oaks park. I think it was an excellent project from the municipality. So thank you.
