Hi, welcome to the city of St. Cloud. My name is Christina and I'm a permit tech with the building department. We have some exciting news about House Bill 803. Come with me. You may have heard of the $7,500 exemption for residential projects. However, not all projects will qualify. Some projects that are not exempt include if you are in a flood zone, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, gas are also not exempt. Splitting up big projects into smaller ones to avoid permitting is not allowed. And lastly, it only applies to residential, not commercial. And remember, if your project does qualify, a written request of exemption must be provided prior to any work being completed. Zoning and HOA regulations will still apply. There are some other changes regarding permitting fees in House Bill 803. Please check the City's Building Department website for more information.
