RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Shelter Island hereby directs that a public hearing be held on April 6, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter, prevailing time, to hear any and all persons either for or against a local law entitled 'A Local Law Amending Chapter 82 – Irrigation Regulations.' This local law is adopted pursuant to the authority granted by Municipal Home Rule Law Section 10 (General Powers of Local Governments to Adopt and Amend Local Laws). If any section, provision or part of this local law shall be adjudged invalid or unconstitutional by a court of competent jurisdiction, then such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the local law as a whole or any section, provision or part thereof not so adjudged invalid or unconstitutional. This local law shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State.
Resolution to adopt Local Law No. 1 - 2026 amending Chapter 8 - Code of Ethics.
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held on Monday, March 16, 2026, to hear any and all persons either for or against a local law entitled 'A Local Law Amending Chapter 8 - Code of Ethics.', now, therefore BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board does hereby adopt Local Law No. 1 - 2026. This local law is adopted pursuant to the authority granted by Municipal Home Rule Law Section 10 (General Powers of Local Governments to Adopt and Amend Local Laws). Resolution to approve the Shelter Island Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary Easter Egg Hunt.
WHEREAS, the Shelter Island Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary has requested permission to hold their annual Easter Egg Hunt on the corner of Cartwright Road and Burns Road on the property known as 'St. Gabriel's Meadow' on Saturday, April 4, 2026, with a time of 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and a rain date of Sunday, April 5, 2026; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that said request is hereby approved.
Resolution to authorize agreement for Recovery and Wellness Retreat under the Suffolk County Opioid Grant Program.
WHEREAS, the Town of Shelter Island is an active participant in the Suffolk County Opioid Grant Program, funded through the NYS Opioid Settlement; and WHEREAS, eligible uses of said funds include programs and services that promote recovery, wellness, and prevention for individuals affected by substance use disorders; and WHEREAS, the Town Social Worker, in partnership with THRIVE Recovery Center, is hosting a mini Recovery and Wellness Retreat on May 2, 2026 at the Dering Harbor Inn Fitness Center; and WHEREAS, costs associated with the facility rental are anticipated to be reimbursable under the Suffolk County Opioid Grant Program; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, that the Supervisor, or her designee, is hereby authorized and directed to execute the agreement between the Town of Shelter Island and the Dering Harbor Inn and Winthrop Manor Ltd.
Resolution to authorize agreement with Suffolk County Probation Department for DWI Enforcement.
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor is hereby authorized and directed to sign any and all documents in connection with the agreement between the Town of Shelter Island and the Suffolk County Probation Department for DWI Enforcement with a contract term of 1/01/2026 to 12/31/2026.
Resolution to authorize agreement with Mary C. Wilson, Esq. for legal counsel to the Peconic Bay Region Community Preservation Fund Advisory Committee.
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor is hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement between the Town of Shelter Island and Mary C. Wilson, Esq. to serve as legal counsel to the Peconic Bay Region Community Preservation Fund Advisory Committee.
Resolution to authorize agreement with Shelter Island Town Police Benevolent Association for 10-hour work schedule.
RESOLVED, that the Supervisor is hereby authorized and directed to execute an agreement between the Town of Shelter Island and the Shelter Island Town Police Benevolent Association to implement a 10-hour work schedule for PBA members.
