The minutes I did any questions. Okay, make a motion.

0:07Speaker 4

We separately all favorite.

0:11 – 0:52Speaker 6

All right, so move. When answer report. In the chase account, starting balance of 2 75, 850. A little bit of an interest payment of $277.39. Lots of expenses at $34,102. What do we pay? What do we pay for? Do I have that information here? All right. We did the nursery stuff. That was $14,000, yeah. What's that?

0:52 – 1:05Speaker 3

Where do you see the $30,000? Yeah, I said withdrawals at 20,000. We said 30. Well, actually, minus 34,102. I was looking at the actual statement.

1:10 – 2:00Speaker 6

Anyway, for a total of 241,147. And the classic count starting balance is $9,306,410.74 with interest of $27,562.15 and a very generous transfer of $324,484.07. for a grand total of 9,899,604.25. However, not on this is the encumbrance for Tedford. So I did the math, maybe, and we came out at 7,374,604.25. Assuming that's right. I allowed 2.5 for the sale and about 25,000 in expenses.

2:09Speaker 1

So, so are we not concerned about the remaining $20,000 in expenses beyond.

2:16Speaker 6

Well, we are, but, um. Is it, but don't.

2:33Speaker 2

Well, this thing looks like the West neck preserve.

2:36 – 2:54Speaker 6

Well, we did. Okay. Uh. DC Tree was $14,000. Some expenses, but that's $20,000. I don't know where that came from.

2:55Speaker 5

Was there any invoices that you had to approve?

3:02Speaker 4

You're talking about the $20,000, $9,000?

3:06 – 3:55Speaker 6

Yeah. $6,000? Electronic transfers, but I don't know. i mean one of them one of them is normal amounts which is probably payroll the 438 and 438 but then there's 20 000. I don't know what that would be for the expenses 34,000. right? But if you take the 20 here, and they had the 14 from. Right tree you come up with the 34, but I don't know what this 20,000 transactions.

3:56Speaker 1

Yeah, like, on the statement, right? Yeah. And that map would would map out.

4:06Speaker 6

Yeah, but I don't know what that is.

4:07Speaker 1

Yeah. Right.

4:08Speaker 6

That's an unusual number. It could be the audit could be in there.

4:11Speaker 2

Yeah. You would have.

4:15 – 4:28Speaker 5

Have we gotten the bill for the audit yet? But no, I think.

4:46 – 5:10Speaker 2

Since it's not on abstracts, since it's on abstracts, but I'm looking at the literally the abstracts from the last abstracts that we've got. Yeah, it doesn't, I don't know what that, I'm looking at the bills that I have here.

5:10Speaker 7

I don't have anything for 20. Yeah, I,

5:16Speaker 5

I will... Do you see the order bill at all?

5:19 – 5:51Speaker 2

I don't think that... No, but it literally says, it's like, if you look at this, it says, expenses, I mean, listen, abstract cut checks, and I just looked through the abstracts, and there's nothing on there. I don't have any bills. Okay, so... Maybe it's a mistake. I shall... Connect with Amber and see, yeah, it looks like a really big number. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

5:51Speaker 7

We don't have any bills this year.

5:54Speaker 2

Yeah. I'm going to write an email right now. Okay.

5:59Speaker 1

Because even that line, it says abstracts. I don't know what abstracts means. It basically means it's like.

6:08 – 6:54Speaker 2

that we like at the town board level, like we get them and it's part of our like, like our super long thing or like, Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, it's part of that. Okay. All of those. Yeah, it's not on there. it says that it's an abstract but we didn't answer it so yeah i think it's that okay would it be like routine maintenance from uh from the highway department for for our properties no right the way it's classified is it says abstract but it's not abstract so there's some kind of there's some kind of issue so i'm gonna literally write amber right now and i'm gonna put tv on it i'm on it we're gonna get to the bottom okay it's my hotel bill okay

6:58 – 7:24Speaker 6

was that the weekend in vegas it was the weekend in vegas that's me i don't regret it okay on to stewardship and maintenance um I thought Ken was coming, but it seems to be some fire department.

7:24 – 7:37Speaker 2

Yeah, when I was coming here on Jimbo, there is, I don't know what happened, but. Yeah, so I guess there's something going on here and when I was coming here, the.

7:38Speaker 6

Police call, and then the fire from study happened in the heights to put in here a horn.

7:42Speaker 4

I don't know what's going on.

7:45Speaker 5

All right. So these are the new assigned properties? Yes. We all agreed on these, right? Pretty much.

7:55Speaker 7

I just wanted everyone to have a hard time keeping it.

8:08 – 8:57Speaker 6

still unclear on how to get to cedar cedar island cedars no i know the cedars the causeway no no you go down norton's driveway in front of the house and look down into the ditch i'll take you there um it's it's odd at best but and there's really nothing to do with it right it's just it's just there yeah okay by the way um i recommend everybody uh take a look at the gardener's creek preserve right now it's loaded with butterfly weed yeah i'm gonna take a photo send it to the reporter i have another question on that yeah there is a track where somebody drives through

8:58Speaker 4

understand that.

9:01Speaker 1

What's the Gardener's Creek Preserve?

9:03Speaker 4

That's when you're going around the curve on 114.

9:08Speaker 6

Little stone pillars. Oh, that's been there forever. Yeah, the track. Yeah. But it gets used. Like I was here in the wintertime and there was something drove through the snow.

9:20 – 9:50Speaker 4

were punches or you know where um the quaker yes okay just before if you're going to the iga just before the quaker on the left you'll see two oh yeah yeah there okay got it yeah yeah there's like always been a track there yeah but i mean it's left over from something and it gets used well i think it gets used when the highway department goes in there well i think i don't know Anyway, I was very happy to see all that. Yes, nice.

9:52Speaker 5

So what would you say was that, Tim? Butterfly weed.

9:56Speaker 4

Butterfly weed, the orange butterfly weed. It's like all over the place. It's great.

10:04 – 10:19Speaker 6

I have a couple of questions on this. Two things for you, cleaning the side. So we'll try to get the kids to do that.

10:19Speaker 1

Yeah, I reached out. I mean, during the summertime, that's going to be, yeah.

10:24 – 10:56Speaker 1

Yeah, I've already talked to Jimbo about that. And he said he would actually love to, you know, brought in the school's relationship with the CPF committee. So whether it's through like the day of gratitude that they do or and or just like a general externship like or just goodwill thing. But yes, I think maybe at this point in September, but I can reconnect with that.

11:00Speaker 6

And did you have any more discussions with. About doing the waterfront that.

11:09Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we're going to build that into this, like. Bigger proposal that we're going to be submitting to the.

11:17Speaker 4

Okay, sorry sorry for next year.

11:20Speaker 1

We're sorry Joseph since had the whole restoration.

11:32 – 11:53Speaker 6

um and the Mike class we adventure did we decide we're going to try to get the kids to build that or we're going to buy one uh well I mean the kids are out of school now we uh oh speaking of that there's right where the bench is going to go yeah Joe knows where it is a tree came down right right where that spot is so

11:57Speaker 5

That was pretty good training. And it's good if it comes down, because now you have a better view. Better view.

12:04Speaker 4

Also good that nobody was sitting there.

12:05 – 12:16Speaker 6

That's right. So do we want to wait? I don't want it to get too untimely, in terms of putting it out there.

12:18Speaker 5

Did you talk to the, what's the teacher's name? Conratty?

12:23Speaker 1

Kenardi? Kenardi. Yeah, Chris Kenardi. Yeah. The tech, the shop. I don't know what they call it anymore.

12:29Speaker 5

Do you have his number or anything?

12:31Speaker 1

His email. But yeah, so what do you...

12:35Speaker 5

If you want to, maybe you can put it on his...

12:45 – 12:56Speaker 1

Before we actually move on from that, I do just remember when I was first talking with Jimbo, like how it would work with like the cleaning supplies and would we be supplying cleaning supplies?

12:56Speaker 6

Yeah, we do supply them.

12:59Speaker 6

I mean, whatever. We'll just, you know, in September, we'll just get some stuff and fantastic or whatever.

13:08 – 13:23Speaker 1

Yeah. And send them on their way. Just maybe a list or even map of the preserves that do have the signs. Yes. Because not all of them do, so it'd be good to know exactly where to go to. Yeah.

13:25Speaker 6

Okay. All right. A couple of things here. I thought Ken was coming, so.

13:36 – 14:33Speaker 5

we've got to get a key for the shed i have well we'll talk about that next i guess acquisition plan as far as i'm concerned the acquisition plan is done everybody got yet another copy of it yeah i i actually have a bit of an issue with uh something it wasn't on the old acquisition plan i think this was added in here specifically to um so we can't have water for a tennis court No, but go ahead. It says, plan prohibits the use of any acquired property for the installation of water wells for use by the community or the town for obvious reasons. However, where test wells may exist or on a particular property, they may be used, for example, for the purpose of testing the quality, quantity of water, its depth, seasonally, et cetera, but for no other purpose.

14:34 – 14:55Speaker 6

so well i think the intention of that is talking about water extraction not you know like suffolk county water authority or western authority or whatever okay but that's the intention of that that's the attention not not to i believe that might have something on the you know in the future we may want to be

14:56Speaker 5

You doing with the water with water.

14:59 – 15:12Speaker 6

So then we should add or or anything else. There might be something else that happens. Except this may be appropriate to cpf purposes that would be happy to add that word to it.

15:12Speaker 5

So check with any. Maybe Kathy can do that.

15:16Speaker 6

No, it's just it'll do it.

15:23Speaker 6

Yeah, we'll do it now and then get it to Liz so she can.

15:30Speaker 6

I'm only kidding.

15:34Speaker 7

Gentle check-ins. So would you be approving it with that edit?

15:40Speaker 4

Yes. Your concern, Chuck, is the extraction from these?

15:48Speaker 5

Yes, I don't want this new plant to prohibit us

15:58 – 16:48Speaker 6

for the purpose of... Well, if we do the garden, if we do any, you know, there might be a reason to have, like at West Neck, there's a well there, and we might want to do something if we needed to water. Yeah. So, I mean, that's different than, this is talking about well water extraction, right? It's just written the way it was written. For use by the community. For use.

16:50 – 17:05Speaker 4

So for instance, you had a couple of wells, and you had a couple of homes nearby which were salted. And they wanted to use, move, have a well service those homes.

17:07 – 17:57Speaker 6

no yeah that's what we're concerned is right there's like weird alarms last night too oh yeah yeah i was like what the hell they go up all the times it was just saying okay installation of water wells from use as public water supply by the community or the town However, where test will, for example, water wells may be used for CPF purposes. Okay, that makes all those in favor any opposed.

18:00 – 18:45Speaker 3

While we are talking about that property 7 cart, right? I just wanted to just make the town aware that I was walking over there and somebody had taken the battery out of that generator. So, I want to encourage the town to maybe move that generator to somewhere where one of the town properties could use a backup generator. Or maybe move it inside the garage that's there so it's safe. That's a Ken issue. All right. Generator. How did you discover that? I saw the cover off. And then I looked inside and the battery was gone.

18:46Speaker 3

Yeah. Unless Ken took it out.

18:50Speaker 3

But I would think it would have hopefully put the cover back properly. I doubt it was. Yeah. I'm not sure they would have put it back on.

18:59Speaker 3

Just wanted to bring it to attention anyway. Okay.

19:02Speaker 6

I'll mention that to him.

19:06 – 20:07Speaker 1

um okay is there any further discussion about the building at there at the property are we still like i think it's still a wait and see I put it in my note in advance of the last month's meeting that I couldn't make it to, but just to share with the group. My parents were in town. My dad restored old houses as a living. I was telling him about the house. I didn't bother to ask for the key or anything, but I just showed him. was able to just go into the basement, open up the bilco doors, and he was able to just see the foundation style and the way it was constructed, the base. His initial assessment without even going into the house was that it's 100% historic house. It was probably late. what do you say, late 19th century, like 1850 to 1900 was the original structure. He was dying to see the inside when he was like trying to .

20:09Speaker 2

I know, I was like, oh, I couldn't reach out to Chuck.

20:12 – 20:57Speaker 1

No, but maybe next time he'd come down, but he was just like, yeah. That sounds about right. Anyway, just throwing that out there. that's interesting information yeah because if it's historic right yeah he was just like it would be there's a whole section on that yeah exactly that's exactly right it was like yeah obviously like that addition that like sun porch thing was later but he's he's actually very good at it's almost like um like house uh what's the word um I forgot the word. Historian? Well, no, just kind of like what, like what, like the way someone can look at a murder scene and break that down.

20:57Speaker 2

It's like, yeah, thank you.

21:00Speaker 1

It's like you can, he can, is able to probably be able to. It's really interesting.

21:05Speaker 6

Because there's certain building techniques change, sides of wood change.

21:09Speaker 1

Exactly, and the nails. Yeah. And the, you know.

21:12Speaker 4

So it was the ceiling of the basement that he was able?

21:16 – 21:33Speaker 1

Yeah, that was like the first place he looked. He just opened up the doors and like looked up and he saw like the style of foundation and said something and I really should. I used to go to job sites with him. I should know the terms better, but I don't. I wasn't paying attention, but he was like rattling off all these things and he was like, oh yeah, that's that.

21:33Speaker 4

Does that imply that other parts of the structure are from the same?

21:36 – 22:14Speaker 1

Yeah, he was trying to see like like that. um like if you're looking at the water and the house and the water like the section to the right right where the doors are he's like that's the clearly an original the original part of the structure if you look at the stairs the detailing on the stairs right and he actually thought that maybe that those styles of stairs may have like the railing may have come a little later he's like it's hard to see with that outgoing inside of it and then everything's covered in Howling so right yeah but he would be happy to to come back and take a look inside the House and cool that stuff.

22:15Speaker 5

Interesting yeah it's like old photos.

22:19Speaker 1

yeah the historical society, maybe. I don't know.

22:26Speaker 4

Did he think the house was built on the site?

22:30 – 22:53Speaker 1

That's a very good question because that is something that was often done as people used to recycle homes and move them and stuff. He's guessing that the house that we live in was most likely moved down the hill to where it is now on Menantik. Your house here? No, he didn't say that. I don't know. I think that... I don't know.

22:56Speaker 4

Just curious.

22:57 – 23:08Speaker 1

Hmm. Yeah. Hmm. So I'll, I'll next time they come down to visit, I'll make sure I, I reach out. I can get us stopping it to the history center.

23:11Speaker 5

Interesting.

23:12Speaker 2

You know, I also know that I was talking to. And who restores houses here. Hopefully.

23:23Speaker 4

Chris Bocaine actually knows a lot about this too.

23:27Speaker 2

I wonder if it would be worth having somebody else just go out there on the island just to maybe take a look and give us a... Yeah.

23:35Speaker 5

Sure. I could ask Chris.

23:39Speaker 2

Yeah, Chris.

23:40Speaker 5

I could ask Chris.

23:41 – 24:10Speaker 2

Oh yeah, yeah. Wouldn't that be, it would be more information. Okay. Oh, I made a one, sorry, I went off to trying to figure out what's going on. I have no exciting news. I did have one question with the acquisition plan. I know you guys are just like, stop it, Liz. No, it's OK. The listing of properties is from 2025?

24:10Speaker 6

No, it's our new one. Last week.

24:14Speaker 2

Great. OK, cool.

24:15Speaker 6

It's the same, but it's from last week.

24:17Speaker 2

OK, wonderful. Love.

24:21Speaker 2

It was just dated, and I was like,

24:25Speaker 7

You mean, you know, are you looking at the, uh, everything will be the new piece and everything.

24:33Speaker 5

Okay, that's the potential ones to me. Yeah. Yeah.

24:36Speaker 2

It's like the appendix. Yeah. I just wanted to make sure before we approve it.

24:40Speaker 6

But I mean, it does change, you know, I don't want to say constantly. No, I know.

24:45Speaker 2

But it was just like, we just have to put it like a stake in the ground and we're like, this is what, you know, yes.

24:51 – 25:21Speaker 6

And we're also including the county list. It's way old, but it's very graphic and detailed. Um, which does bring us to another question, which is. And you mentioned this early on when you 1st joined the committee, which is. A map of the island that shows the preserved properties and then the properties of interest near. So we can find the relationship.

25:21Speaker 1

Yeah, it's just I do remember bringing that up. It's just because I'm such a visual person. So 1 of.

25:27 – 26:33Speaker 6

There's a great map on the iconic land trust website. If you go on the front pages at the bottom, it says. or map of preserved properties or something. It's pretty obvious. There's two listings that say mapping, but one's about future planning and one's an actual map. But it's not up to date. So like the Causeway, Cedar Causeway is not on it. Josephson's, you know, and a bunch of other ones. Artist Lane is on it, but not the two lots because that happened later. So what I'm wondering if, maybe jessica can do some digging to see if we have resources on island to figure out how to to do this right so we can be more interactive and we can go in and poke around yeah it would be helpful yeah i think it would be great unless it's just a matter of establishing better communication with the conic land trust so that they can update their maps and then we just like well yeah

26:34Speaker 1

That might be the easiest. You know, no need to reinvent a wheel.

26:42 – 27:51Speaker 6

Yeah, but I don't know if we can pull up the GIS information from their maps necessarily. So I think their map is static, not interactive. Okay, gotcha, yeah. all right i'll also communicate with them about updating it see how often they do that um okay next thing if we're going to try to fix things that we're dragging along we have two um stewardship plans that need to be done cedars and total preserve uh well cedars you did the study you did the study so i should i don't know if i shared that with everybody yeah you did we did it in a meeting with the picture you know there's some graphics and so essentially right in my impression is we're not not act with not cutting any trails we're not making it active for active use

27:53Speaker 4

I mean, you walk down the road, you can walk to the beach. Right, right.

27:57Speaker 6

Walk along the beach, maybe.

27:58Speaker 4

Walk into the grasses and other stuff at your own peril.

28:02 – 28:18Speaker 6

Yeah. So, basically, it is just what it is. You're going to preserve. Yes. But I think we should know all the stuff that's in it. Yes. And then say in there that we're going to monitor for invasives, which we would do, right? Yes.

28:21Speaker 4

The good news is it gets flooded, so that a lot of invasives that can't tolerate salt water can't grow.

28:33Speaker 6

And then the other one is Tuttle.

28:36Speaker 4

That would be nice. There are autumn olives. I mean, that whole area has a lot of autumn olive.

28:42Speaker 6

Is that different than Russian olive?

28:45 – 29:15Speaker 4

get confused so yeah like it is it's all i call them russian they say oh it's autumn olives they bloom in the spring we don't really have the russian olives here right it's just it's just autumn olives i think it's autumn yeah it's all autumn olives so anyway but all along that whole road on both sides there's a lot of autumn olive which is great to i think jay actually jay was head of the time and he cut all that stuff down it was great um so it'd be great to do that at some point I know they have a lot of their place.

29:16 – 29:31Speaker 1

There is, when you walk to the left, I don't know if that's part of the preserve, like, what's the stretch for, like, what's technically preserved? Is it just to the right of that, the boat ramp, or is it to the left as well?

29:31Speaker 3

To the right.

29:31Speaker 1

Just to the right, okay. Yeah. Because there's like that, there's an outfall pipe that I've always kind of been curious about to the left, but.

29:41Speaker 4

What the pipe is or what the road?

29:44 – 29:55Speaker 1

I'm pretty sure it's road runoff that's just dumping into the harbor, but that's like, that would be like a Joe Panora thing, because I think he's the person to represent the MS4, like, which is the tracking for the.

29:56Speaker 4

Probably ancient.

29:58Speaker 1

Right, but it's like also like.

30:00Speaker 4

That's where you're doing your work, right? Yes. Right.

30:04 – 30:49Speaker 1

And on that note, it's like, yeah, we haven't done, I did have my oyster reef there. And things are still like growing and we were talking about, you know, just doing even another like maintenance planting as part of this like larger proposal we're going to put in for. I was like, we could, if we were concerned about erosion, which is potentially a thing, like we could build in, you know, putting in, we have these coconut, we use coconut core logs, like in areas where the marsh grass is starting to get eroded out, we can tuck that in. If we're concerned about that there, we could see some, if we as a group were concerned about that, we as Back to the Bay at CCE could build into the...

30:50Speaker 4

This is, you're talking now about the Cedars?

30:52Speaker 4

Where you've had the, what was it? I forget where the erosion happened in the water. It was from the wave action.

30:59 – 31:29Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Some of the oysters did get pushed up. We've been getting these like weird winter wind, Or, like, weather patterns that have, like, just the last couple winters, yeah, that have been, like, pushing stuff out. And you can see it is getting, like, kind of scoured out, like, the marsh grasses and stuff like that. But I can just keep an eye on things. And maybe if I'm concerned, I might just build that into the proposal.

31:29Speaker 4

If you're doing a proposal for that area too, we were talking about it.

31:33 – 31:44Speaker 1

Yeah, it just says more just for planting more oysters just to maintain that original reef. But we could. Kind of do more if that was a concern.

31:44Speaker 4

Yeah. So I'll share that again.

31:54 – 32:26Speaker 6

uh the report well do you want to like you want me to work on us oh okay i can do that all right and you and i are also on total creek so we need to work on that too yeah um it's a little different because creek total creek across from Turkum's Rest next to 82 South Midway. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry.

32:26 – 32:37Speaker 1

I haven't actually walked through there in a little while, but even just driving by, I noticed it was looking very beautiful, like very freshly mowed maybe or something.

32:38Speaker 5

Yeah, a little nice.

32:40Speaker 6

It cleared out some stuff too.

32:49 – 33:01Speaker 4

I keep knowing these preserves by who got confused anyway okay yes okay we'll work on that one too um

33:07 – 34:16Speaker 6

Oh, on the Artist Lane Bridge, I think we talked about it going back to stewardship. On the Artist Lane Bridge that we've been talking about, I did communicate with the county because they said they wanted to be involved. I communicated with Nick Gibbons, Joe, and Chuck to say, hey, we want to order the survey to figure out where it is. How do you guys want to participate? awaiting their response no um okay green expo on the 22nd i am not here and all the stuff is in my garage i'm trying to get ken to give me a key to put it into the shed at josephson um so that it's accessible to people But somebody's got to say it i'm going to take care of it because i'm not here to set it up on. August 27 years we get Kathy usually participates in that. So second. wants to.

34:19Speaker 4

You're obviously busy.

34:20Speaker 1

I've said that before.

34:27Speaker 3

I know the rundown.

34:28 – 34:41Speaker 6

Okay, so you'll set it up. Yep. Then, well, you certainly know where my garage is, but I got to put everything in a pile. But I'll do that. I don't know. Or I'll try to get it over to the shed.

34:41Speaker 4

How updated is the map?

34:44Speaker 6

It's not. I think Gordon added Josephson on it.

34:55 – 35:06Speaker 4

So I think Cedars is on it. I forget. But it might be sooner than later, just to look at the map and if we can update it.

35:07Speaker 6

Because Tedford should be closed by then, hopefully. So just to get everything on it.

35:14 – 35:28Speaker 3

Yeah. Let's try to get the skate park tent set up. Hopefully neighboring ours, neighboring CPF. And that way I can run both of them.

35:28 – 35:43Speaker 1

There you go. I could maybe, I'll check just, this is not just CPF, I can talk to you about maybe having, I have a couple of seasonal employees I could maybe post up for a Cornell table.

35:44Speaker 6

That'd be great. It's usually a Cornell table, right?

35:49Speaker 1

Last year I wasn't able to do it.

35:51 – 36:07Speaker 4

They were there. No? It wavers. We're not going to have two people, a conic estuary partnership, and bait keepers are not coming this year. So it would be great to have some instruments.

36:08 – 36:20Speaker 3

Who do I talk to about setting up a booth at the Green Expo? Who do I talk to about setting up the booth? I think Kim. Yeah, okay. He's talking to her.

36:20Speaker 4

You mean for the CPF?

36:22 – 36:37Speaker 3

For the skate park. Oh, the skate park. Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. Cool, okay. Yeah, I'm going to put it right next to ours. Oh, that's what you're talking about. Yeah, and I have to work both booths. Okay, that's good. And you can run both? Yeah, exactly.

36:37Speaker 4

Yeah, that's fine. Cool. Just send me...

36:43 – 37:40Speaker 6

send me uh to the town you know just tell me that you want to go okay excellent the other thing is to know your water weekend which i don't 100 understand what we do i put a little yeah yeah just in front of me okay so water advisory committee um increase awareness of why don't they go on to the green expo is it separate well they're doing that too they're doing both okay so they're promoting people doing the um suffolk county water testing for a hundred dollars um and then sharing test results um and that is the 25th and the 26th and they will they're setting up something

37:43Speaker 7

If anybody would like to volunteer, is there.

37:49Speaker 4

Yeah, they're looking for volunteers.

37:52 – 38:17Speaker 6

I think otherwise occupied. Jessica can send a reminder out to everybody. With a connection of who to volunteer with. All right. Anything under old business?

38:21 – 38:42Speaker 4

We had a really successful invasive plant forum last week on Thursday. It's like 45 people come for Victor's project. We had Andy Senesac give a presentation with slides showing and actually brought the plants to the invasives to the event.

38:42Speaker 1

A visual of what? For a visual of what to look for instead of what to look at.

38:46 – 39:02Speaker 4

Then he described them and how to get rid of them. And then George Hewn talked about in his life the work they've been doing. So it was a nice combination of perspectives of somebody talking about the plants themselves and someone talking about what they've actually been doing to get rid of them.

39:04 – 39:17Speaker 4

And I'm thinking one person who was there, Lucy Brown, sent something to the reporter about it. But I'm actually thinking of doing like invasive plant of the week for the reporter.

39:17Speaker 1

Yeah, smart.

39:19Speaker 4

What they are, how to get rid of it, work with Andy on this, just sort of do that if I have the time.

39:29 – 40:07Speaker 1

On that note, I think I saw that today through the library there's a native plant talk. Actually, a colleague of mine at Cornell is doing um so check the library but if i don't know for sure who's doing it i'm guessing it's my colleague roxanne who's awesome uh but just talking about nato forget her last name i wonder if i i know her yeah she's just with the horticulture but she's doing what what what is she doing no through the library it's being held somewhere else and i can't remember

40:10Speaker 4

She's giving a talk?

40:12Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah, a talk about native plants.

40:13Speaker 4

No, native plants. Oh, native plants.

40:15Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah. So I'll need flip side of the invasives.

40:18Speaker 4

Well, actually, what I would do is say, OK, if you got this, get rid of this and replace it with this. Yeah.

40:28Speaker 7

That's St. Mary's. Oh, OK. 5 o'clock.

40:33Speaker 1

Native plants. Sponsored by the Garden Club.

40:39Speaker 7

It doesn't say the present. Yeah. Oh, it does say Cornell, but it doesn't say it specifically.

40:46Speaker 4

5 o'clock tonight.

40:47Speaker 7

What's her last name? It doesn't say the name. It just says Cornell.

40:51Speaker 4

Oh, OK. Never mind.

40:52Speaker 7

But 5 o'clock tonight at St. Mary's.

40:57 – 41:45Speaker 3

Oh, and concerning our recent talks about vandalism in the woods, the Bunker City property is getting just littered on again. It's like Bunker City. The yeah, yeah. But on the other side, I mean, on the dirt road side, the dirt road entrance into Manhattan. You're talking about off of the causeway? Yeah. It's just getting covered in beer cans. Really? Yeah. I'm going to write the chief and just ask him to patrol the area, particularly on, I think, probably Fridays and Saturday evenings. All over? In one area, if you go down the dirt road and then take the... Starland. Starland, yeah.

41:45Speaker 1

It's a party spot. It's a party spot, yeah.

41:49 – 42:06Speaker 3

But they really need to patrol that better because it's just getting covered in trash. I took some pictures. I can share them with everybody if you want. Uh, why can't people just, yeah, I know because the police comes in the kids, right?

42:06Speaker 2

17. Yeah, just don't.

42:10Speaker 3

Yeah, and then the kids are still using stations on their quads.

42:14Speaker 3

And nothing really.

42:16Speaker 1

Yeah. Yes, I saw someone like, zip in there on a dirt bike.

42:22 – 43:17Speaker 3

Oh, they, they, they cut in, like, a whole new entrance on a midway. So. You know, please know, but, you know, I guess they only really do anything if somebody calls. So maybe I just would like to encourage the neighboring. Properties to put change across just go around. guard dogs in there yeah right I think the wolves how about the guard ticks I don't know the solution there though you know just wanted to bring it to the public's attention you know the woods for everybody but they don't they're not for anybody to destroy so anybody know what what's uh going on with the fort Ryan what's wrong that Soros took over

43:17Speaker 5

They took out all the grass. All the grass is gone. It's all plowed. It's going to be an orchard.

43:23 – 43:40Speaker 4

It's like you're getting ready to plant something. Yeah, it's going to be an orchard. And maybe farming, too. I don't know. I mean, I've always been told it's going to be an apple orchard. I want them to grow pawpaws.

43:43 – 43:56Speaker 1

They're so gross, though. To eat? No, Mark maybe try one. I was like, bleh. That's all right.

43:56Speaker 4

My understanding is going to be orchard, but maybe if there's more.

44:04 – 44:16Speaker 6

Just curious. Anything on the new business? Elise, I see you there. Do you have any questions, comments?

44:17Speaker 8

Good morning, guys. How you doing?

44:20 – 45:53Speaker 8

Yes, of course. I always do. So, Tui, thank you. I want to say thank you for initiating the conversation with the county regarding the bridge at Artis Lane. So if we get going with something like that and then stay on top of it, it won't linger too long. And if it's feasible and it's workable, then that would be great. So thank you for doing that. Oh, and Tim has left. But I wanted to say that I was glad that his initiative about the... invasives went went well um if we could get more information out there to people and we can have like the neighborhood especially at artist lane because that's our purview uh identify those and and know how to get rid of them that we could all pitch in and help because it can't be just you guys on your committee always going in there and trying to clean out these areas. But actually since my, my ears always perk up because I'm the treasurer of the Monantic Peninsula Association. So I just had a, a few questions about when you opened up with your financials, Tui, the, the, Class account that you always cite, which has, I thought you said something like $240,000 on it, which is debatable, so we have an open item for expenses, but that's where all the expenses come out of for the maintenance and upkeep of the properties? Yes.

45:54Speaker 6

Yeah, that's the working account.

45:56Speaker 8

Working account, right. So where did the funds come to keep that working account viable? Do you transfer funds from the main account?

46:06Speaker 8

Periodic basis?

46:09Speaker 6

In order to get higher interest, we put money into the other account, right.

46:16Speaker 6

So, yeah, and then it just gets transferred as needed.

46:20 – 46:36Speaker 8

Okay, okay. And that makes perfect sense. And then the main account, which has right now, you said maybe nine, but we have an expense of a purchase, so maybe 7 million. The funds, are those funds received on a quarterly basis?

46:37Speaker 6

We receive money from the county theoretically every month, but it's always around two months behind.

46:46 – 46:59Speaker 8

Oh, OK. OK. Because I mean, imagine that, especially with house prices that have gone exponentially up in price. We're getting more money in that, even though the house sales.

46:59Speaker 6

But the acquisition prices have gone up.

47:02 – 47:56Speaker 8

Absolutely. So, you know, in one and one out the other. Yeah, I get it. yeah um okay so cool i just wanted to understand that and when you when you guys have and and the audit is done by do we have an internal order does the county audit those funds or accounts the town external order no an external auditor yeah do we have an internal auditor first we have an internal review oh external like audit to basically check the internal work Okay. Yeah, yeah. I mean, just to make sure it's not caught flat-footed if we, you know, that we're looking at it first. Yeah. Okay. Oh, thanks. So, and forgive my ignorance, but do we... pay taxes to the town on these properties?

48:00Speaker 8

The fact that we purchased them and we own them is enough.

48:06Speaker 6

Right. Town doesn't pay taxes. The only time we pay taxes is like the first year of acquisition until they come off the tax roll.

48:17 – 48:28Speaker 8

Okay. And then the last question would be, Does this program from the Peconic Trust, does it sunset at any point or will this continue in perpetuity?

48:29Speaker 6

Well, it just got extended till 30 something, 36, 38.

48:37Speaker 8

I was going to say 36.

48:39Speaker 6

Yeah. So it just got extended.

48:41Speaker 8

Oh, so it does come up for review. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I wasn't sure about that.

48:47Speaker 6

Periodically.

48:48 – 49:01Speaker 8

All right. Hopefully I'll be retired and living on Shelter Island by that point. Okay. So, all right. Well, excellent. Those are just questions I had along the way. And... I appreciate it. Thanks guys. I appreciate all that you've

49:02 – 49:56Speaker 6

As a side comment to that, I don't know if anybody saw, and I didn't think to get Barbara to give me a copy of it, but in Newsday, there was an article about CPF funds. Southampton is like $80 million. East Hampton is more than that. South Hold is, you know, like, I don't know, big numbers, huge numbers. And then Shelter Island is like $2 million a year. This is a year, you know. Did they bring in $80 million a year? A year? Yeah, I think so. Very big numbers. Oh, wow. Very big numbers. Can I share that with Shelter Island? I think we could ask for an amendment. Think about your poor stepchild. Anyway, it's interesting. That's why we like Shelter Island, because it's small and easy.

49:56Speaker 3

OK, anything else? Anybody else have any questions, comments?

50:01Speaker 6

No, can we close the public meeting? Thank you everybody.
