City Council - Special Meeting

Good afternoon.

We're going to call our special finance committee meeting to order at 4 PM on September 14th. And the reason we're here today is to talk about the. Equipment needed for the new squad that we should be getting sometime in February and, um. We've been notified by the vendors that we need to have this equipment order by no later than the end of September. If not, there'll be a three to 5% increase starting in October. So the chief is asking if we could bring this up today in finance, so it could be on the agenda for tomorrow's meeting. And I'm going to turn this over to Chief Hickenbotham.

Here today to talk about all the equipment needed for an EMS squad. And as you well know, there's a lot of equipment that goes into a brand new EMS squad. So I've detailed a list, a pricing list. These are the current prices that we have in effect, that will be in effect till the end of this month. Listed are all of the equipments, and I'm just going to go over some of the bigger items. the striker package power pro 2 cot loader power uh power load system and then the lifepack 35 the lucas accessories which is for continuous cpr the this equipment is priced at 188 650 um and that's just for having the cot loader, the life pack, and the Lucas. Also, we need mobile radios for the unit itself, three portable radio chargers, installation for that. Bondtree has EMS equipment. Again, this is all the EMS equipment that is specific to this squad. Also, the onboard oxygen regulators, sensible products equipment, the ballistic sets with that as well, the iPad so we can document and bill, and then Knox scene secure, that's the keys that we use to get in and out of businesses for our squads. Player thermal imager, sharps, containers, those are some minor costs with that. I'VE CUT THIS LIST DOWN AS FAR AS I CAN FOR THE EQUIPMENT FOR THE NEW SQUAD. AND TOOK SOME THINGS OFF AS COMING IN AS THE NEW CHIEF. AND THEN THERE'S ITEMS THAT WE'LL TRANSFER FROM ONE SQUAD TO THE OTHER. SO IF THERE'S ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THAT. NEW SPEAKER.

No, it's in good shape right now. The equipment itself is in excellent shape. Somewhere down the line, it maybe needed to be replaced. But for the purposes of taking a squad out of service for repair, we can transfer that stuff over at this time. That's my only question.

Councilman Nomura? Yeah, it's not necessarily a question. I just wanted to reiterate that we're doing a special finance committee meeting mainly because these prices are going to increase by the end of the month, you said?

Correct. This is the current pricing that we have. they'll go up three to 5% on all of those numbers. Okay. Okay. So again, coming in right now, yes, this is the first item that is hot plate on my desk. Perfect.

Well, thank you for getting this to us then. So, you know, we can avoid that price hike. Right.

No, I appreciate the new chief jumping right in on it and doing what's best for the city. So thank you. Absolutely.

And I reiterate on that, um, chief called me last week and as soon as he called me, he said, we have to get this done. We don't want to have to pay extra money just because, you know, we can't get it done by the end of the month. So that's why I decided to call a special finance committee meeting so we can have it on the agenda for tomorrow. So we don't have to add it tomorrow night. That's why we're having a special meeting today. So I appreciate everybody that showed up today for the meeting. And so, um, there's no other questions or comments from anybody. No. Okay, so I'm going to make a motion to put this on the agenda for tomorrow night's meeting as an emergency as ordinance number 38. Do I have a second?
