A resolution naming the baseball field at Meyer Park, Richard A. Gandam Field Senior and declaring an emergency. Is there a further motion? Mr. Present. Councilman Mororrow. I move to approve the emergency clause found in section two of resolution 10-2026. Castanzo second. All in favor?

9:47 – 10:26Speaker 1

Any opposed? Before we adopt this, I want to say a few words. Um, I remember when I was uh playing baseball growing up in Seven Hills when Kmart was there. I remember playing at Valleywood Park and that's what it was called. And I remember Mayor Ganam is the one that I believe started Park at that time. That was like the prime field in Seven Hills. It had lights, you know, it had a fence. So, everybody wanted to play there and there was games there seven nights a week, weekends, all the time. So, that was like the highlight if you were able to play at Valleywood. But, I'm glad to see this, you know, being renamed Richard A. Ganham, Senior, Field Senior. So, I just wanted to say that. Any other comments?

10:23 – 11:37Speaker 1

Yeah, Mr. President. Yeah, along those same lines, it's uh throughout this the whole biography about him, all his political achievements. Um, but I want to cut right to uh Chase. Why the ballpark at Meyer Field? Um, Mayor Ganam while in negotiations with Kmart to allow Kmart to come to Seven Hills back in the day, uh, recognized the need for a city park on the south end. At the time, we had North Park uh, north the rocks. and central in Kelvin Park and who by the way if you don't know is named after me Mayor Kelvin um as part of the deal for the zoning to allow Kmart to uh establish itself in Seven Hills got um to donate the land behind the store which then became our third park on our southern end of the city uh which we grew up knowing as Valleywood and then that preferable ballfield Um, so, uh, it's a very fitting honor, uh, that this ball field, uh, be named after Mayor Ganam and I thank council for, uh, their anticipated support.

11:36 – 12:21Speaker 1

Thank you. Anybody else on council have anything to say? Mr. Council Mororrow. Uh, I'd like to echo what you said about, you know, playing in the in the majors as it was called, uh, playing at Calvin and then getting up to go play at Valleywood under the lights was a a really cool feeling for a young person to do. Um, you know, just being able to play at night, you know, feel like a big leager here. So, um, really excited that we're we're honoring uh, Mayor Ganam with this and, um, you know, all he's contributed to making it happen. Anybody else? Okay. Is there a further motion? Mr. President, Councilman Mororrow, I move to adopt resolution 10-2026 as an emergency measure.

12:20Speaker 1

Castanzo second. All in favor? Any opposed? Resolution number 10-2026 has been adopted.

12:34 – 13:19Speaker 1

Okay. Council's open to the audience for comments. Hearing none. Reports and communications from the mayor. Safety director. None this evening. Thank you. Any of the directors have any uh reports this evening? None. Um, miscellaneous comments by council. Council person Kelly. I have no comments this evening. Thank you. Councilman uh Snitzky. Nothing this evening, sir. Yeah, that's a first. Councilman Morrow, stop speeding down side streets. I don't want to worry about my kid being in the yard. Thank you. Councilman Elliot, I have nothing this either.

13:17 – 13:53Speaker 1

Console prom Castanzo. Just one one item I want to highlight. Uh Captain Cervanka uh really stepping up during this city's time of need. We appreciate you. And we'll throw Chief Salum in there, I guess, too. But uh we appreciate both of you guys very much. Thank you guys. Thank you. I just want to remind everybody about the Memorial Day parade on May 25th. Uh hope I see everybody there so it's successful it's been in the past. And that's all I have this evening. I'm going to move to adjourn at 6:55 p.m. Do I have a second? Elliot second. All in favor? Yay. Any opposed? Meeting adjourned.

13:57Speaker 1
