Mayor’s Announcements and Comments•Item (a)

The City of Salisbury will celebrate its eighth year partnering with Rowan County for Creek Week, taking place September 12, 2026 through September 19, 2026.

The City’s Stormwater, Sustainability, and Salisbury-Rowan Utilities teams will host events to promote water quality and raise awareness of local waterways. For more information and a schedule of events, visit the Rowan Creek Week website or the Sustainable Salisbury Facebook page.

The Planning and Neighborhoods department announces four grant opportunities for the 2027 fiscal year: the Community Appearance Commission's Municipal Service District and Innes Street facade grants for buildings in downtown and along Innes Street; the Historic Preservation Commission grants for homes in Salisbury's local historic districts; and the Community Appearance Commission's neighborhood beautification grants for Salisbury's neighborhoods.

The 13th annual Busker's Bash will take place on Friday, October 2, 2026 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The public can vote for their favorite performers using 'pic packs', available for free at various downtown locations. Winners will be announced at New Sarum Brewing at 9:00 p.m. For more information call (704) 637-7814.

The 16th annual BlockWork neighborhood improvement project will take place in the 500 and 600 blocks of West Liberty Street in the Ellis Graded School District neighborhood.

The event will be held on National Make a Difference Day, Saturday, October 24, 2026 and a prep day will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026. The Community Appearance Commission and the Housing Advocacy Commission are requesting volunteers to help with exterior home repairs.
