City Commission - Regular Meeting

Welcome to On the Agenda, where we highlight the activities of City of Salina Boards and Commissions. I'm your host, David Hawksworth. The City Commission meets on Monday, July 13th. Here's a rundown of what's on the agenda. At 2.30 p.m., commissioners will meet as the Lower Smoky Hill Water Supply Access District Board and will hold a public hearing on the district's 2027 budget. A study session to continue discussions on the city's 2027 budget will take place at 2.45 p.m. At the regular 4 p.m. meeting, the City Commission will hold a public hearing on approving route changes to the CityGo Public Transportation Service. Also on the agenda, an amendment to the agreement for design services for improvements to East Crawford Street and the Brookwood Trail, approval of an ordinance making revisions to the city smoking regulations, approval of an ordinance authorizing the city manager to develop and administer a water rate relief pilot program, and approval of an ordinance approving the Santa Fe Showdown as a special event and allowing consumption of alcoholic beverages in the event area. In development business, commissioners will consider approval of the final plat of the Salina Family Edition at the northwest corner of Ohio Street and Edison Place. The consent agenda includes appointment of a member to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and approval of a contract for public safety equipment and software for the police department. Two executive sessions are scheduled, one for discussion of possible acquisition of real estate and one for attorney-client privilege to discuss legal considerations related to the Cozy Inn versus City of Salina case. Possible action may follow each executive session. Here's the City Board and Commission update. The Downtown Design Review Board met on June 25th and approved exterior modifications to the building at 244 South Santa Fe Avenue. The Law Enforcement Citizen Review Board met on July 1st, reviewed two complaints against officers, and voted that the preliminary administrative determination of the status of the complaints is supported by substantial competent evidence. The Planning Commission met on July 7th and approved the final site development plan for the new Panda Express restaurant at 2755 Marketplace. City Board and Commission meetings scheduled through July 24th include the Building Advisory Board, Tuesday, July 14th at 3 p.m., the Human Relations Commission, Tuesday, July 14th at 5.30 p.m., the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, Wednesday, July 15th at 4 p.m., the Arts and Humanities Commission, Wednesday, July 15th at 4 p.m. at the Arts and Humanities Office, 211 West Iron Avenue, the Board of Zoning Appeals, Thursday, July 16th at 4 p.m., the Planning Commission, Tuesday, July 21st at 4 p.m., the Community Art and Design Committee, Tuesday, July 21st at 4.30 p.m. at the Arts and Humanities Office, and the Downtown Design Review Board, Thursday, July 23rd at 4 p.m. All meetings take place in Room 107 of the City-County Building, unless otherwise noted, and the meeting agendas will be available on the City's website, salina-ks.gov.
