Welcome to On the Agenda, where we highlight the activities of City of Salena boards and commissions. I'm your host, David Hawksworth. The city commission meets on Monday, April 27th. Here's a rundown of what's on the agenda. Commissioners will begin with a 3pm study session on the property casualty insurance state of the marketplace. At the regular 4pm meeting, the city commission will hold a public hearing on the levying of special assessments for 2026. Also on the agenda, consideration of a debt financing plan for the new fire station number four, approval of a development agreement for improvements to the Sunset Park War Memorial, and consideration of a recommendation to reject bids for the landfill scales project, and to revise the project scope and rebid the project. In development business, commissioners will consider an ordinance reszoning the old fire station number four on Briercliffe Road for reuse as the city facilities maintenance operations building, approval of resoning of the 9 south edition on South 9th Street north of Sam's Club, and an ordinance revising a planned development district to allow construction of an office building on East Crawford Street east of Crawford Place. The consent agenda includes an agreement for excess workers compensation coverage, appointment of members to citizen boards, commissions, and committees, a change order to modify equipment in the city's fiber network upgrade, agreements to the 2026 vehicles and equipment purchases, and a bid award for pavement markings on various city streets. Here's the city board and commission update. The board of zoning appeals met on April 16th and approved a variance to allow a new home to be constructed in the floodway at 18/19 North Fifth Street. The planning commission met on April 21st and approved a special use permit for an open air market at 1808 South 9th Street. The downtown design review board met on April 23rd and postponed consideration of signage for the Chamber of Commerce buildings at 218 North 7th Street and 120 West Ash Street.
