Welcome to On the Agenda, where we highlight the activities of City of Salena boards and commissions. I'm your host, David Hawksworth. The city commission meets on Monday, March 23rd. Here's a rundown of what's on the agenda. Commissioners will begin with a study session at 2 PM discussing Salena Animal Services. At the regular 4pm meeting, the city commission will hold a public hearing on ordering that the city complete the demolition at 1616 West Crawford Street and costs recovered from the owner. Also on the agenda, acceptance of the 2025 People's Choice sculpture into the city's public arts collection and placement of the 2022 and 2025 People's Choice sculptures on public property. Commissioners will also consider approval of an amendment to the agreement for phase two of the city's multif family housing project on Virginia Drive west of Menards and will consider removing a restrictive covenant requiring sprinklers and homes in the Overlook Estates edition south of the Riverrun edition and west of Great Life Golf and Fitness. The consent agenda includes purchase approval for fixtures, furnishings, and equipment for the new fire station number four, approval of updated guidelines for special event retailers permits for alcohol sales. a bid award for microsurfacing of streets and a bid award for crack sealing of streets. Here's the city board and commission update. The downtown design review board met on March 12th and approved signage at 109 South Santa Fe Avenue. They also approved facade renovations at 108 North Santa Fe Avenue. The planning commission met on March 17th and approved a zoning change and preliminary plat at the northwest corner of Ohio Street and Edison Place for the construction of the new Salina Family Health Center. They also approved a change in infrastructure approval conditions for the new Maverick convenience store at I135 and Waterwell Road and approved releasing a restrictive covenant requiring sprinklers and homes in the Overlook Estates edition just west of Great Life Golf and Fitness. Humanities Commission also approved the recommendation at their March 18th meeting. The parks and recreation advisory board met on March 18th and recommended the city commission support an Eagle Scout project to place a communication board at Bill Burke Park. After public hearings, they also recommended the city commission approved naming for the parking lot at Santa Fe and Ash, and for three areas of the river renewal project, the Fourth Street Plaza, the hillside and trails at Lakewood Park, and the trails at Founders Park.
